The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Female Human

Deciding to take the initiative in dancing with Treisdan, Belyu begins a simple routine that has them weaving through the crowd like snakes in water. It almost seems like a game.

Perform(Dance): 1d20 + 26 ⇒ (14) + 26 = 40

Something that Tamina said definitely struck a chord with Ardiente, and the flame lighting their way wavers slightly as his concentration falters. "What about the survival of my race? We... our numbers continue to dwindle, year by year. Is it not the duty of each firebird to help in whatever way possible?" Ardiente doesn't sound like he's being rhetorical. It sounds kinda like something that he's been convinced of in the past, but now he's questioning it.

"I must say that .. this is all very new and rich. I'm unsure what my duty will be, considering my prior ..duties." Her gaze looks over at one point while he's observing her shape, which prompts her to smile broadly and say, "I do not know .. what your thoughts are, Ehos, though I can tell by your body language. I .." She goes quiet and looks up at the lights, doing little to hide, since most of the clothing covers her well.

"Earlier I had asked you, after you spoke of Nature as a chaotic and destructive force- I moved, and stood so you would feel Nature. I am of that Nature, just as you are," she gazes back again, her eyes are warmly looking at his face if he meets her, "so you would know, there is always a balance, Nature is not malicious or cruel. It simply is. I felt you spoke out of anger, or a sense of wishing to control it. I thought I would show you that even you could not control it.. since you are a part of it as much as I am. Did it work?" There's a slight twinkle in her eyes at that, an eagerness to hear his response.

If she knew much about drunken Elves, she might not have engaged in a mental question such as this requiring memory,...

Ehos has a long moment trying to puzzle through exactly what Anahita was saying. His mind was foggy and it was a little difficult to remember exactly what she was talking about. His face is momentarily a mask of consternation. Then, it dawns on him the point she was trying to make. Even him and her were part of Nature, and that what they did was also part of the world. That there was beauty and happiness, if one could only see it. At least... That's what his drunkenness had led him to. 'If I am understanding you properly, I would say that it did indeed work... but my mind is foggy, and I would like to be sure of what you mean. Can you perhaps simplify what you mean?' Ehos had thought he had it, but he wanted to be sure.

He goes to take another drink of water, but finding his cup empty, he frowns and glares at it, as though it had personally offended him.

Female Human Teenager

"My point was, not to be angry at Nature, for what She is. Do not try to control Her, rather, respect and treasure Her, and She.. " she gestures again and conjures some more water via Create Water for his cup, "will in turn, will reward you."

Her dark eyes glimmer for a moment after saying that. And she turns slightly to look where to sit, then sits again, looking back at him. "More importantly, I think, you will not be angry and stern when speaking of Her thusly in the future."

Her smile after that conveys a hope that it makes sense now. Even if the music in the background did not help the scene.

Male Elf Bard 14/Sorcerer (Maestro) 14

Ehos thought he understood. Taking a drink from the freshly refilled cup and then replacing the scarf. She was right. There was no point in being angry at the world, at nature. It is simply what is. He wondered if there was some subtext he was missing due to his inebriation, but that thought was fleeting at best. He simply returns to observing the aurora, glad for the company. 'I will try to remember that.' [I] Ehos looks somber for a moment. 'Thank you, Anahita. Despite everything today which has gone wrong, it has been a long time since I have had a day so enjoyable.'

Female Human Teenager

"Heh," is all that escapes the lips of Anahita as she watches sideways after Ehos' comments.

Her thoughts were slightly quick though, as she sat there looking up with him at the lights and stars.

>> What am I doing? Is this how I should be acting? To think I choose to invoke him with the display I did, enticing him with my shape? What was I thinking? Well, it did shift his attention away from that anger he spoke. I should have ..hmm.. Instinct, that was it, in defense of Nature, She who I revere. Not thinking, just act. Instinct indeed, and I am thankful for that. One day, perhaps, I will certainly find one to bond with. Too young yet, though, or am I? I forget sometimes the times and dates. I do not recall my childhood, much, nor the years that followed. Have I always been this way? Perhaps I can finally learn something new here and still follow my bond with Her. I look forward to that and yet doubt I should even think. I sometimes wonder if my family still seeks me. No matter. Death is as equal a part as Life. Time moves on. I shall move with it. I do not understand why I was sent here, yet. I shall find out. I have not done such deep thinking in many seasons, why now? Very odd. <<

She then looks over once more at his cup, seeing if he needs further water, which she'll happily provide, but more importantly, if he is doing better from the drink earlier.

It's clear that she's happy being with Ehos, and happy tending to him, for whatever reasons she may or may not have, expressed.

What can I say? Ladies like the Ehos flava.

Ehos seems to be slowly regaining his senses, as the time draws on. Eventually the aurora gradually fades away, leaving only the twinkling stars and the sound of 'music' coming from the concert. There are no more incidents of "wandering eyes" from Ehos; whenever he looks over to Anahita, he looks her in the eyes. 'It seems my sister is done with our spectacle.' the data pad lights up, as Ehos indicates the sky.

"Start at the beginning and tell me exactly what happened," he snapped, ignoring Raelle's outburst of defiance.

Raelle looked away. She knew there was no point arguing with that tone.

"I was at the concert with my date," she said, nodding towards Dave. "We were dancing and then the fey girl had some issues. We went to get some punch. After we got our cups the cat boy....I don't remember his name, anyways he was upset about the punch said something about it being what made the fey girl....uhhh...Star, said it was what made her all crazy. I only had a sip before he took our cups away and the whole punch bowl too and gave it to a teacher. We went back to dancing and....I don't really remember the rest well. I remember feeling like everything was moving too slow, and being hungry and thirsty....and I remember feeling like I was too hot....which was just weird. I didn't know that was even possible. And there may have been something about throwing up on your shoes....that's it."

Sorchan didn't respond to any of it. He turned to the other three students present.

"One at a time, I want each of you to tell me your version of events," he said in a tone that wouldn't tolerate arguments.

She um took off her shirt... I put an illusion over it and tried to remove her from the situation, give her some fresh air... But we were stopped by ace who apparently thought I had some kind of ulterior motive or something"

Just dawned on me some of the other students exited the concert to the Garden. Ergo- spotted by my character. This is for you!

Anahita, seated outside in the Gardens, illuminated by the aurora above, would have nodded politely in greeting and looked at anyone who exited the concert, her eyes are warm and she appears relaxed, sitting near an Elf in fancy clothing that accentuates his features.

She does not move to wave, or likewise, but her expression alone would suggest a welcome of sorts.

If people simply walked by, she returns her attention to Ehos, else, she doesn't immediately do any greeting. That might be too forward, it appears.

Just realized this was probably directed at Ardiente and Tamina. I had originally thought it was for the Raelle party, but now I realize it was for us. XD

Slight Retcon:

Ardiente had returned the smile of the young woman... he had met her earlier near the lakeside, but he couldn't quite remember her name. The elf on his arm appeared to be leading him somewhere in particular though, so he doesn't stop.

"I..." she was right, of course. Even before the sky changed, the firebirds were a crumbling race. At least before that, they still had a reason to be proud. The hard truth wasn't something Ardiente was quite ready for though. For all his big talk to Raelle, he was still proud of being a firebird. Proud of being a del Sol retainer. He had brought his parents honour and happiness with his hard work. But also could see what the race had become. The cognitive dissonance was maddening, and Tamina had just brought it to the forefront. He was putting on a tough face, but his lower lip was trembling, and his voice unsure. "I don't know what to believe anymore. I feel like I have two sets of ideals. Two sets that don't go together, that shouldn't go together." The fire lighting their way was flickering, on the edge of going out.

Sense Motive DC35:

Ardiente's cognitive dissonance goes further than his mere ideals. His words could carry another meaning. Something about two sets that shouldn't go together.

Anahita's gaze was cooling at this point, less flickering about as her thoughts stilled, interest placed on the calm garden with the few groupings meandering about. Coupled with the garden itself, quite peaceful as the moments smoothly passed on by.

She then shifted in her seat and sat on her backside, pulling her legs up to wrap in her arms while laying her head atop her bent knees.

Seemingly calm, she closed her eyes and allowed the moments to meld with herself, listening, feeling and being one with her surroundings. Clearly no schedule for this young human.

Ardiente let himself be calmed by Tamina's words and gestures. The flame he's maintaining stablizes as he takes a deep breath in through the nose, the heady scent of the herbs further calming him. A few breaths later and his calm is completely restored. "You will make an excellent Speaker of the Sacred Grove, Tamina, when your time comes." 'She was planning on finishing her telescope tonight - a device by which you can view far away stars and planets. She must have finished it. I wonder if she's using it already.' Ehos had never really taken much interest in Tyrrin's project. The stars were something remote, distant. They were pretty, but at times Ehos missed the sun floating in the middle of the planet. The stars were a constant reminder of danger.

Ehos had finished another glass of water, but shook his head when Anahita offered to refill. His stomach was full. 'Would you like to see it? I'm sure Tyrrin wouldn't mind too much.'

Ehos smiles as Anahita takes his arm, though somewhere in the back of his mind, he suspects she's trying to help him keep his balance, but for the most part he's focused on the feel of her arm through his. 'I do hope it's not, for that would mean that I would either be a dream or an illusion. I don't find either of those ideas agreeable.' he jokes, his eyes once again twinkling with silent laughter.

The stairs up to the tower prove a particular difficulty for Ehos, but with Anahita's help they manage the long climb up the tower to the observatory. There are now a good hundred and fifty feet above ground-level. Ehos taps a few times at the door before opening it, a motion which must be a reflex from when he could generate sounds.

The observatory is a rather large room - seemingly somewhat larger than the tower that supports it. A paradox which magic resolves rather quickly. Placed in the center of the room is a large telescope which extends out of the a gap in the tower. Much machinery, power cords, and the like stretch this way and that across the floor, making the large room seem smaller and cramped. A black-haired elf wearing a simple navy blouse and matching pants sits at a bank of monitors typing away on a keyboard, the monitors appear to have code and settings displayed on them. Anahita recognizes her as the Acting Student Council President who gave the speech at the assembly this morning. She doesn't even glance over at the sound of the pair entering, apparently focused on whatever is on the monitors. A single large screen dominates the opposite wall, but is currently blank.

Also present in the room there appears to be... either a golem or a strange elemental, and a teenaged girl with canine-like ears poking through her hair.

'Hello Wyrd, Jaiye.' Ehos displays to the pair, stepping forward, and in front of Anahita. 'May I present Anahita?' he hopes Anahita doesn't think he's mocking her, with his overly complex introduction. 'Anahita, may I present Wyrd, and Jaiye?'

I'll leave the full descriptions for these characters to their players xD

Jaiye cocked her head. She'd never really been able to break herself of that particular canine habit. Or the tendency to wag her tail when she was happy. It was so embarrassing when people noticed.

"Hi," she said waving at the new arrival. She was a little glad for the distraction. It's not that Tyrrin's new device wasn't interesting. She just wasn't able to understand more than one word in three when Tyrrin started talking about it.

Image Alternate Image - all dressed up.

"I get homesick sometimes," she conceded. "I love my home. But...I also love being here, having friends. Having people treat me as an equal."

"I'd love to hear more about what the firebird sun is like. I've always been curious. And Raelle can't answer my questions about it since she's never been there."

Female Human Teenager

Looking first over towards Jaiye, Anahita gives her a light wave in greeting after having walked in and glanced around. It would be obvious to anyone who can sense these things that practically everything in the room is strange to Anahita, except perhaps, the telescope itself, or the premise.

Once Jaiye greets her, after Ehos' "long and winded greeting", if there was any mocking, she does not display a reaction, merely saying in response, "A pleasure to meet you, Jaiye." Anahita has an accent when she speaks, using Common, not her native tongue, clearly.

Anahita is dressed in what can be best described as cotton and khaki colored desert clothing, along with a hood, tied around her forehead. Most of the intricate stitching and such are in a fire, or flame like pattern, though it is not blatantly 'loud' or remarkable, seemingly well worn and cared for. The baggy and loose fitted clothing would remind anyone of an Arabian like look, along with her dark features. She has a few pouches, minor ones at belt, and seems to be carrying much else.

Around her left hand, perhaps the only jewelry displayed, is a chain of gold/silver metal, intricate links, that wraps from the wrist, and under her sleeve, to her hand and around some fingers. It is silent when she moves, and mostly, she doesn't seem to even notice she has it.

Her attention is focused usually on whoever is speaking, but if the odd monitors or other devices 'beep' or make noise, she's quick to look in the direction with the readiness of a fierce creature, ready to pounce.

"Such wonders.. again." Is her comment after a moment. She also gives the massive earth elemental a look over, first his features, then any visible gear, as with anyone she first meets. A warm smile of familiarity grows on her face though, when looking him over.

"Uh, nice to meet you too, I guess," she said nonchalantly.
Jaiye isn't quite sure what to make of the new girl. She prowled around the room, restless. Her clothing was pretty much the antithesis of Anahita's, tight and not covering any more than absolutely necessary, her tail curling up from under her very short skirt.

"Hey, Ehos, did you ever get a chance to check out that comic book I recommended?" she asked, trying to find some area of conversation that doesn't leave her looking like an idiot.

Aananda knocked at the door and Sorchan stepped into the hallway to talk to her without Raelle and Dave overhearing.

Raelle reached out and squeezed Dave's hand.

"It'll be okay. Probably. I hope," she said nervous.

"I was making sure he did hear," she said, "Humans can be hard of hearing sometimes."

Snippets of conversation can be heard through the door of the infirmary room where Raelle and Dave are waiting.

"I understand that you feel concerned..."

"....do you even know if this kid is..."

"....it's completely under control...."

"...would you still feel that way if it were another student?"

"...she's fifteen!"

"...actually my youngest had spiked punch and got into a fight last year...."

"....that's the hard thing about having children grow up...."

Umbri had awakened from her rather long 'sleep' in the infirmary, still not recovered enough to move. having collapsed from her anemia. Rin was watching over her, and the ill nymph stretched her weak arms outward, grabbing the water off her tray.

I dunno if threatening someone a whole bunch then falling flat on your face qualifies for a "fight". I'll take the street cred though. :D
