Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

It is rather interesting. What is going on here is not only nessesary, but also a good idea. I hope to help it continue or even improve.

Pan laughed. "Well those are the kind of statements that will make you popular with the teachers, that's for sure."

"You planning on coming to the talent show tonight?"

"Oh, no, I was talking about what I was mixing before the anti-nausea! I'm sure she'll be happy to be able to smell scrambled eggs again without running for the nearest restroom."

"Headmaster Antairus speaking." Ryo asks as a screen pops into existence in front of him. "What is the problem?"

"Headmaster...something is wrong with the demon student...he came in complaining of being tired and then passed out and there's...I'm not sure how to describe it, but those of us who were near him at the time got a glimpse of something mightmarish. Some kind of telepathic projection, I guess. The diagnostic scanner can't find anything wrong, and, well, we're stumped."

"I'll be there soon." He turns to Aananda and Michael. "I see you both later to learn how things went. In the meantime, I have to go help out in the infirmary."

He holds the door open for them before closing it. When he opens it again it leads to the infirmary and goes to Phaezerial's bed quickly.

"How long has he been like this?"

"A little more than five minutes," the head nurse said crisply. "Especially when he started sending out such disturbing telepathic projections we decided it was too severe to wait."

"Alright then, this is likely something psychological then. I'm going to go into his mind and see if I can figure out what's wrong. Break the contact if I'm not back in one hour." {ulling a chair over, Ryo sits down and touches Phaezerial's forehead. His eyes cloud over as he casts his consciousness into Phaezerial's.

"You play sax? Awesome! I'm a guitarist, but I won't be in the talent show. But the band I'm in, it's called FAIN, and we're having what is officially called an open rehearsal after the talent show. Not so officially it's an after party. You should come."

Vai picks out the last drawing the gnome did (number 5), a little giddy at the propect of getting jewelry.

Also... either Lyn has a thing for blue haired gnomes, or this is Creation himself.

So Creation is moonlighting as a jeweler? Neat.

Exactly. So glad to see that someone understands...although I'm a little disappointed at being found out...

"Nice choice, little miss. Very classic. I should be able to whip that up in no time. You girls come back in an hour and I'll have the necklace ready and your package too," he said to Ephebe as he waved the group off.

It's only impressive if no one dies. Otherwise it's just a disaster.

"Thanks, Mr. Blipdilboop."

Back on the sidewalk she asks the other girls, "So, where next? Shoes, makeup, fencing gear, or instruments?"

I just can't figure out how you can get hot baths without burning the water like you did when I tried to teach you how to cook pasta.

Aananda led Michael back to the restricted lab this time letting him inside.

"Okay, Michael, just take a seat at that table over there. Jim, are you here?"

But I'm not the one doing the heating for a bath. It comes out of the faucet that way.

Vai shrugs, taking in the light rain, face to the sky. The rain seems to be slowly letting up, and in the sky above the village and Avalon, rainbows begin to appear, bright and clear, in the sky. "The world is so beautiful..." Vai says in a half-whisper.

Male Half-Elf

"There is some serious tech in here." Michael says as he sits down and looks around, gaze resting on the more intricate pieces before moving on. No wonder this lab was restricted, some of the tech in here looked more complex than some of the Alchemy equipment!

Tyrrin's mood was definitely lightening. After her encounter with the half-vampire and the succubus, which was diffused by Fei, she had retreated away to stand on the hillside overlooking the village, and had begun tracing rainbows across the sky. The rain felt good. Soothing. Calming. The sky lightens in colour, the clouds no longer black and ominous, and the sun breaks through to shine a beam of light on Tyrrin.

"Oooh, the yukata is so pretty! Thanks, Okaa-san! I'll definitely wear this for the talent show tonight. I'm doing a cooking demonstration."

Marui chuckled. "I'm glad you like it. And sorry we won't be able to stay to see your demonstration. But I do expect you to come home for a visit at least once a month from now on. No exceptions."

"Yes, Okaa-san," Kity said with a wide grin.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

Yes, I'm here. Jim calls from the back of the classroom, where he and his minions have gotten back to work. When she enters, he wipes his hands off on a rag, walking over to her.

You have need of me?

Behind him, you can see the beginnings of a claw of sorts, incredibly shiny and looking to be made of an alloy of adamantine and mithral, with a large crystal in the "palm" of it.

Ryo quickly locates the active portion of Phaezeriel's mind and finds a strange series of images playing like movies in Phaezeriel's mind.

They all start out the same way, with Phaezeriel performing some selfless act or helping people who need help or protection, then in the manner of a dream, the scene twists and things go horribly wrong, people are murdered and tortured, betrayed, and their souls are consumed while Phaezeriel stands by watching it happen or, in some cases, participating in the wickedness.

Before they turn to evil, the images have a real quality to them that the horrific scenes that follow do not. They start out solid and real seeming and shift to a dreamlike feel.

Ryo also notices a pressure building; it is taking more effort to stay in Phaezeriel's mind the longer he is there.

Back in the real world, as Ryo sits beside Phaezeriel, psychic disturbances begin manifesting. It starts with telepathic projections; images that flash too quickly to truly be seen, some peaceful, some horrific. As Ryo remains linked, the disturbances begin manifesting physically; glass vials shatter, objects spontaneously slide off of flat surfaces, and the furniture starts to shake.

"Oh, hi, Jim. Yeah. I have the specs on how to make a homunculus, but I need to make one for Michael that has some special functions and I need to tie it to his life force. I'm not sure how the process is supposed to work on that last part. I haven't really had a chance to start playing with the specs yet. The solar system security network took a lot more time than I expected to get deployed and calibrated. James just got back from tying in the Harbinger to the security feed last night."

"Anyhow, the modifications are simple enough, but I need this done super quick, so it's faster to let you explain it to me."

::Phaezeriel!:: Ryo shouts into the student's mind. ::None of this is real. You need to wake up!::

Michael is sitting in front of an array of screens alternating between views of space and views of different parts of the school. To the right of the bench is a sealed chamber inside of which it appears to be growing crystals. He doesn't even recognize half the tools on the bench.

"Don't just stand there," the head healer snapped. "Evacuate the other patients farther away from this one. This is why we have such a large infirmary people, and anyone who runs away will be fired."

The nurses reluctantly ventured into the blast zone to retrieve the other patients and help them get away.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

Alright. Well, when I make a homunculus for myself, I simply imbue it with energy, but I'm not sure if he'll be able to do it. There's another way, the way Krueller always did it. You may want to get a nurse, as you're going to need about a pint of his blood, and you've gotta work it into the body of the construct.

Image

"Does it actually take a whole pint?" she asked, curious. "It seems like a lot."

"And I don't need a nurse to help with that...it's nothing I haven't done before."

Male Half-Elf

Michael looks away from the growing crystal(was it alive? What did it eat if it was? Did it have a DNA strand?) at the mention of drawing his blood out. He wasn't worried about losing that much, but the thought of blending blood with metal was strange and caught his interest.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

It seems like a lot because it is, but he'll survive. His body will regenerate the White blood cells and Plasma by tomorrow, the platelets and protein by the next day, and the Red blood cells over the course of about a month and a half. I'm sure if he gets some magical healing those times would be reduced, but all that he'll exhibit should be fatigue.

The only reason I've been able to make so many back to back is because I don't need to regenerate blood. Otherwise, I'd be in a lot of trouble.

Image

"Oh, yes, I know that. But Krueller was terribly inefficient, at least based on the examples of his work I found. One of the first things I made from his designs was the first artificial arm I made for Ryo. Of course he destroyed it within a day so I had to make a new one. And I've added improvements to that one since then, but it showed a lot about how inefficient the process was. I wasn't sure if this was one of those times. I should be able to duplicate the process with half or less than the amount of blood. But I don't want to try that and find out that this was the time the Krueller actually got a calculation right for a change."

Male Half-Elf

"Take some of my blood and clone it." Michael suggests, unable to hold back. "That way if you need more you'll have it, and the recovery time for me can be greatly reduced."

Male Quasit (Demon) Gestalt Vitalist/Psion(Telepath) 16

Phaezeriel's mental voice originates from outside of the images. It is very loud.

::I KNOW. I DO BATTLE WITH MY OWN HERITAGE. WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, YOU ARE DISTRACTING ME.::

With a surge of power, and an audible grunt of effort from Phaezeriel, Ryo finds himself ejected from Phaezeriel's mind. His voice comes again, but much quieter this time.

::Thank you for your attempt to help Headmaster, but you cannot help me at this time. I return to my task.::

Phaezeriel's pores begin to ooze a thick, oily black substance. Within seconds he is entirely covered in a spikey bubble (fast forward to 1:06) of the stuff.

I have to go pick up the my daughters so I will be gone for several hours, but the bubble Phaezeriel is encased in will resist any attempts to penetrate it in any way. Physically and mentally it will be like trying to pick up a greased watermelon seed while wearing frictionless gloves.

Aanandareavekki wrote:

I overloaded the circuitry after a hellhound tried to bite through it. It was anything but destroyed.

"Oh all the times for Kamenwati to be gone." Ryo mutters bitterly as he stands up and tries to breach the bubble, nearly swearing when he couldn't. He hated being unable to help a student.

Warforged Engineer Alchemist 16/Armiger 16 Champion of Creation

I never saw him use less than a pint, so I'm not sure if it's possible with less.

In response to Michael's statement concerning cloning: That's not a bad idea.

Michael, is it? You haven't had a homunculus before, so I'll run down the basics for you. You'll have a telepathic bond with this creature, one that can't be severed other than with distance, but it seems like this one won't be too far away from you, so that's not a problem. It will listen to any order you give it. I've seen these used as familiars by spellcasters, so you may be interested in using it for that purpose. They do have personalities, so keep that in mind. In fact, these little buggers, Jim points back to the homunculi in the back of the room, who were supposed to be working on the claw. They were, in fact, about to start throwing tools, until Jim looked back, at which point they immediately returned to their seats. Jim sighs metallically, These little buggers are a handful, but you should be fine with just the one.

"An excellent idea, Michael, I think I'm starting to see why Razule says you're one of his most promising students," she said, trying to hold back laughter at the antics of the other homunculi. "In that case, I'll only need a drop or two."

She steps over to the workstation and starts typing in something that seemed incomprehensible to Michael and manipulating the image that appeared on the screen until she had a barrel chested humanoid beetle.

"What do you think? Or would you prefer something else? I thought a beetle would be good so we could add wings. But we don't have to use this design if you don't like it," she said, looking back at him and smiling enthusiastically. As usual when she was caught up in her work she was totally unaware that her eyes had taken on a draconic appearance so that she could see what she was doing better.

"He did?" Michael asks, amazed. Sure, he'd made Saffire and Nova easily enough, but he didn't think he was one of the most promising in the class.

"Maybe make it look more like a beetle and less like a humanoid. It could be a bit longer then, and more capable of flight. If the legs are made long enough and can interlock with each other, it could even look like an armband when it isn't helping me with anything."
