The Avalon Chronicles

Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

::Good. This will also allow you to observe a mortal mated couple interact socially. I know you're interested in things like this.::

"He says you may come as well."He says to Ephebe.

Ephebe stepped with him inside Death's realm. This time it looked like a comfortable living room. There were overstuffed chairs, side tables, a fireplace, a thick carpet, a vase of flowers on the mantel. Very ordinary, except for the fact that every single thing in the room was black. Even the wallpaper.

PLEASE MAKE YOURSELVES COMFORTABLE. I WOULD OFFER YOU REFRESHMENTS, BUT I AM TOLD THAT I STILL HAVE NOT PROPERLY GOT THE HANG OF TEA YET. IT WOULD NOT POSSIBLY BE VERY GOOD FOR MORTALS OR SOMETHING LIKE THAT. I HAVE NOT YET WORKED OUT IF THAT MEANS THAT IT IS POISONOUS OR THAT IT IS SIMPLY DISGUSTING. BUT SOMEHOW I DOUBT THAT YOU TWO HAVE COME HERE TO CHAT ABOUT THE DIFFICULTIES OF MAKING TEA

"See? I knew it wasn't just me," Ephebe said, gingerly sitting down in one of the chairs which was not nearly as soft as it looked. "Cooking is hard! At least you didn't set the water on fire," she said, trying to be encouraging.

"No, master. Though my wife's grandmother makes an excellent tea, if you wish to ask for some advice.

We've come to discuss the unraveling that is occuring in the universe. I only barely under stand the phenomenon, which is why I asked Ephebe to join me. Her unique position now affords her a better insight into these matters. I was hoping that since she is no longer affiliated with a friendly rival patron, you could share what is going on to help both of us do our jobs better." his tone is even and respectful, but with a slight edge of frustration to it. Ephebe feels a bit of anger over the bond, stemming from the thought that he's not being given enough info to do his duties.

"The thing about mindscapes is that they often mimic aspects of the real world. Or they're just totally crazy. Either of these explanations works equally well to explain a resemblance to the library here," she added with a sigh as Adon fails to make friends with the magical books.

"When Nala was treating you, Adon, she kept conjuring ice. Maybe we should look for a really cold section?"

Fei's head tilts to one side slightly as he takes in the information he just received. Hoping he has judged the situation correctly, the young monk continues his dialogue with Eve.

"Designation: Fei. Analysis: It is...unfortunate that the rest of the colony refuses to adapt, Eve. Query: Are they trying to leave this place...or preparing to overtake it? "

He pauses for a few seconds, then has an idea.

"Proposition: What would it take for you to regain control of the colony?"

[]DESIGNATION EVE: the colony follows the imperative of our kind. the colony has split over how to follow this imperative.

Analysis: the colony cannot be reasoned with. they will consume and consume until there is nothing left. this will once again lead to destruction of all. colony must be stopped.
Declaration: the colony wishes to leave. this world is not rich enough. if they are allowed to leave they will spread unchecked until there is nothing left or until destruction.
Declaration: a small number of the colony have been persuaded to change. we wish to find a way to share resources. all can prosper. none need to be destroyed.
Query: would you consider an alliance?

ingi breathes out cinder, as fire flickers in the edges of his vision. It doesn't seem to go away no matter where he turns.
"A mild cost to setting my soul alight, I suppose..."
he mutters, heading over to sit on his bed and remove a book. He stares at the title a while.
"This... Seems like a waste of time. But, they said I should try and understand other people."
igni opens the book and turns into his bird form, starting to read the book on waterbending, turning pages with his talons.

Krays' anger melts as he walks forward, and places his had on his master's shoulder, giving him a look of sympathy.

"Master...I'm sorry for my pointedness. Things are never simple, or straight forward in my service to you. I did not intend to cause you discomfort. I worry not just for the lives of my family and friends, but I worry for your existence as well. I will not ask you to betray any confidences, even if it's to my wife's former master. Please, Master. Tell us what you can. Help us help you, and help me champion your power."

Ephebe:
Ephebe will realize over her bond, that Krays does not see Death as just his Master, but as a father-figure or other deeply admired and respected family member. It may be hard for any other creature, but for Krays, he simply loves Death, like Ephebe loves Ryleh. This is where his zealotry comes from, his fire when dealing with those that abuse the powers of death, or attempt to harm his loved ones.

Heh. Sympathy for a giant robed skeleton...

As Ginni and Melody catch up, Ace serves up the plates he made for the girls (Tami is till there, yes?), and offers some extras to Arthur as well. He grabbed a rather random variety of food, but there is definitely enough for all 5 of us.

He then gives Squeaky a juicy bone he asked the kitchen staff to prepare just for his puppy, and grabs a big plate for himself, sitting on the floor next to the very happy and content dog.

Personally I'm hoping I've got a good long while before the family wishcraft catches up with me. Again. Sort of. It's complicated. The last time she'd seen a 'just friends' situation that was this over the top nauseatingly cute it had been Jiminy and Fieri so she was still not entirely sure they weren't actually a couple. Ephebe doesn't know yet either. She spent a lot of time in the next day, but it involves events that didn't put her into contact with anyone who knew that information. And keeping track off where she is in her personal timeline in reference to everyone else is...challenging. The joys of time travel. :P

Ephebe shook her head. "Events are changing too fast. The near future is in total flux right now. I'm looking at probabilities rather than certainties. My knowledge of the champions suggests that they're more likely to work together. It's the Patrons that worry me. They're not used to being in such close proximity all the time. It's....wait, you said that the beginning was happening in the middle," she said turning towards Death. "This...this is the beginning of the Game?"

Death nodded, but didn't elaborate beyond that simple confirmation.

After getting the feel for the weight of the card, Tybalt faces the balloon and goes for one more throw.
1d20 ⇒ 1

But when he hears Andromeda speak up over how he had been acting with Dave, he's actually so surprised that he loses his foot and tosses the card. But the mix of hardening and homing magics have it curve back around and brush over the cat's head, severing a lock of his hair. If he'd fallen any slower, he might've lost his eyes. He's quickly back up, teleporting into an upright position. "No, I, uh, we're just friends. I wasn't I uh... Ya. Friends." He immediately tries to start playing it off like it wasn't anything, but he isn't so great at doing so, as he's literally reviewing everything he's done since he entered the room with his lace, trying to find where he went too far. As far as he's concerned, it was exclusively him being awkward.

The card embeds itself in the side of a tool box some time after being thrown, but Tybalt is again oblivious to his... probably 4th or 5th brush with death or fatal injury.

He's silent for a moment, while he tries to wrap his head around this.

"Alright, you were correct Master on the linear non-linear time being difficult to understand. So, if the Game is just beginning, how can I be your Champion, if you haven't picked me yet?"
He sits down...
"I think this may be beyond my ability to rationalize."
Ephebe will get a strong sense of failure and frustration over the link.

I think that when Phaezeriel put my psyche back together he left out some pieces...no," she said tilting her head and frowning, "not left out. They're still there, just...smoothed out a little. Like a sort of buffer around the really abusive stuff. Umm....so, you still don't know. I was murdered a few days ago," she continued, looking uncomfortable to be talking about it. "The murderer had a lot of psychic abilities and realized that my unbreakable permanent connection thing would give away his identity, so he shattered my psyche. It took Phaezeriel several days of psychic surgery to put me back together. And then of course the connection to Repp, that's who killed me, and a lot of other girls before me to be honest, triggered the whole demonic transformation. Because of being exposed to so much evil. Getting through that with my soul intact took a lot of help. Anyhow, Repp has been dealt with, so that's something. And I am very, very glad not to have him in my head anymore," she added with a shudder.

Argh! My initial reply to this post was eaten and I didn't know until now! And now I have to look up the correct spelling for Kryshykilli'vkk again! Although I think I got it cause of remembering when I looked it up and typed it in the last time...

The creature wrapped it's large, branchlike hands around the bars of the cage and stared at him sadly, its antlers hitting the top of the cage forcing it to stoop as it stood. It didn't speak, only howled mournfully as it shook the bars.
