Game Master lynora

This is a high level rules light game set in a school for magical kids, kinda a mash-up of Soul Eater, Harry Potter, and X-Men. :)

Ephebe doesn't know yet either. She spent a lot of time in the next day, but it involves events that didn't put her into contact with anyone who knew that information. And keeping track off where she is in her personal timeline in reference to everyone else is...challenging. The joys of time travel. :P

Ephebe shook her head. "Events are changing too fast. The near future is in total flux right now. I'm looking at probabilities rather than certainties. My knowledge of the champions suggests that they're more likely to work together. It's the Patrons that worry me. They're not used to being in such close proximity all the time. It's....wait, you said that the beginning was happening in the middle," she said turning towards Death. "This...this is the beginning of the Game?"

Death nodded, but didn't elaborate beyond that simple confirmation.

He's silent for a moment, while he tries to wrap his head around this.

"Alright, you were correct Master on the linear non-linear time being difficult to understand. So, if the Game is just beginning, how can I be your Champion, if you haven't picked me yet?"
He sits down...
"I think this may be beyond my ability to rationalize."
Ephebe will get a strong sense of failure and frustration over the link.

TIME IS NOT LINEAR. BUT THERE ARE TWO OF THEM. TWO OF KRONOS. EVERYTHING HAS A BEGINNING AND AN END, EVEN TIME. IF YOU HAVE TWO TIMES YOU HAVE TWO BEGINNINGS AND TWO ENDINGS. THE RULES OF THE GAME ARE THE SAME, BUT IT STARTS TWICE. AND ENDS TWICE. AND REALLY NOBODY EVER ACTUALLY WINS BECAUSE THAT WOULD BE SILLY, BUT FOREVER IS A VERY LONG TIME AND IT KEEPS US ALL BUSY.

But when he hears Andromeda speak up over how he had been acting with Dave, he's actually so surprised that he loses his foot and tosses the card. But the mix of hardening and homing magics have it curve back around and brush over the cat's head, severing a lock of his hair. If he'd fallen any slower, he might've lost his eyes. He's quickly back up, teleporting into an upright position. "No, I, uh, we're just friends. I wasn't I uh... Ya. Friends." He immediately tries to start playing it off like it wasn't anything, but he isn't so great at doing so, as he's literally reviewing everything he's done since he entered the room with his lace, trying to find where he went too far. As far as he's concerned, it was exclusively him being awkward.

The card embeds itself in the side of a tool box some time after being thrown, but Tybalt is again oblivious to his... probably 4th or 5th brush with death or fatal injury.

"Uh, you okay there? I think your aim is getting worse....maybe we should pick a game that doesn't include a risk of accidental great bodily harm?"

about that song she opens her new journal book and hands it to Ginni.

this is just the lyrics, I am thinking a simple piano accompaniment.

song lyrics:

I didn't know today would be our last
Or that I'd have to say goodbye to you so fast
I'm so numb, I can't feel anymore
Prayin' you'd just walk back through that door
And tell me that I was only dreamin'
You're not really gone as long as I believe

There will be another angel
Around the throne tonight
Your love lives on inside of me,
And I will hold on tight
It's not my place to question,
Only God knows why
I'm just jealous of the angels
Around the throne tonight

You always made my troubles feel so small
And you were always there to catch me when I'd fall
In a world where heroes come and go
Well God just took the only one I know
So I'll hold you as close as I can
Longing for the day, when I see your face again
But until then

God must need another angel
Around the throne tonight
Your love lives on inside of me
And I will hold on tight
It's not my place to question
Only God knows why
I'm just jealous of the angels
Around the throne tonight

Singin' hallelujah
Hallelujah
Hallelujah
I'm just jealous of the angels
Around the throne
Tonight

That's a long time, and I think it would get boring after a while. If the talk of Champion things ever came up, and he mentioned his patron, Tybalt would have reffered to her as "Curador-Sama," a Catfolk word for Elder Healer.

It's obvious that he's thinking about a lot of things at the moment, as he turns the small metal chain over in his fingers

It is indeed a bestiary, but the creatures within are disturbing in that they don't follow any kind of natural order. Like aberrations, but taken to an extreme. It lists strengths and weaknesses of the different types. There does not appear to be anything currently relevant to Adon's condition in the book.

Reading the book gives Djalos a +10 on knowledge checks to identify Others should they ever come across any.

sorry if I forget the spirit's name I know it had lots of K's in in it and lots of vowels, I think

The creature wrapped it's large, branchlike hands around the bars of the cage and stared at him sadly, its antlers hitting the top of the cage forcing it to stoop as it stood. It didn't speak, only howled mournfully as it shook the bars.

Lang is very saddened by the spirit's situation.

Ok, you can come meet your spirit Professor. I want to see him free again. but the real key to this prison really rests with you.

Ori steps out from where she had been hidden behind a tree and approaches the cage. The nature spirit howled again, a haunting sound full of anger and pain. She put her hand out and gently touched one of the spirit's hands that was gripping the bars and there was a blinding flash of green light. When Lang can see again, there is a giant tangle of vines separating him from Ori and the spirit.

"Fascinating. After reading this, I may have nightmares for the first time in my life. What a novel experience," Djalos says, and it is difficult to tell whether he is being droll or not. "Regardless, this book contains in-depth anatomical studies and dissertations on a variety of sanity-shredding horrors collectively known as the 'Others.' I find it difficult to believe that seeing a being that is, and I quote verbatim, 'a squamous Ouroboros of terrible size, its thirteen unblinking eyes seeing all universes and its countless scales shimmering with uncolors of the Nether,' could be observed in person without the witnesses' mind being twisted into horrific, unnatural shapes, but I digress. This book does not appear relevant."

"Sounds... Tell me more. What are these creatures capable of?"

"It depends on the specific specimen, but their powers always fit the general theme of making a horrible mockery of time, space, and the sophont psyche. One of them feeds on temporal energy by trapping you in the same three seconds for eternity. Another is the size of a star and eats chunks of reality for all of nine point thirty-seven Agarthan hours before unraveling itself. Three of them send abstractions of their unknowable being into various realities and consume them. A relatively benign species only steals your socks and housekeys, but considering how the previous dozen pages had been a rant against the atrocities of chicken pot pie, I believe that the author may have gone utterly and completely mad at that point. I honestly have no idea why this is in the fae section. This seems more of the, 'keep under lock and key lest any mentally unstable student get ahold of it,' sort. You know, like where they keep all of the more dangerous fiendish compilations."

"I'm rather sure you found the right book, sadly. Your right, though, I'm not sure what it has to do with fey. Regardless, I suppose it helps to know what type of abberation I happen to be... Er, be bound to, that is. Assuming the creature of my dreams is what I'm bound to. Sorry you had to read that. Should've done it myself."

Rubbing his eyes and trying to get his bearings, at first Lang thought he was transported somewhere, but he soon realized he is in the same place.

Sifu Ori, are you alright?, can you hear me. Please be alright.

Lang is starting to sound a little paniced as he tries to find a way past the twisting vines.

Ace lets the matter drop without another word. He knew better than to try and argue with Ginni on this. He might take it up with Michael privately, but only if the half-elf also wanted answers.

Instead, he asks "Ginni, if Phaez doesn't come out of that cocoon any time soon, does that mean you'll be stuck here waiting for him?"

That's an OOC question too, Lyn. MisterLurch sorta popped in, but never moved the scene with Phaez, so I'm curious what might happen if he stays MIA for the time being.

about that song she opens her new journal book and hands it to Ginni.

this is just the lyrics, I am thinking a simple piano accompaniment.

** spoiler omitted **

Ginni had to wipe a tear away as she read the lyrics. "That's beautiful, Mel. Really speaks to all of us who have lost someone, recently or not."

Thanks, I was supposed to perform at a party, but with me being gone and stuff, I don't even know if I still am playing, or if there is even going to be a party anymore.

Mel thinks a moment, If there is, do you want to perform this with me. you can help with the music. Mel asks getting a little excited at the thought of having Ginni on stage with her.

Turning to Ace, you can too, Ace, I was impressed with your wide range of vocal talents.

"Uh, which party would that be, and when? If its this weekend, we can't make it cuz we're going with Tyrrin and her brother Ehos to a special Equinox Festival hosted by Ty's mother, who I believe is akin to a queen among her people. She's a High Seer, like the Headmaster, and I guess that's some sort of royalty among the elves."

I am planning to leave Phaezeriel in the cocoon for several days of game time. The change he is undergoing is quite a bit more substantial than it was last time.

"Not really. Every time I looked at it, I'd wake up and my eyes would feel like they're on fire. I haven't had good sleep in... Uhm... I can't even remember how many days.mthyere blurring together. Anyway, same thing, every time. Darkness everywhere, a presence behind me. If I look at it, I wake with burning eyes."

He shakes his head as they talk about immortality. "Curador-sama said that if we became immortal, we couldn't be champions any more. I don't really think I'd want to anyways. That's a long time, and I think it would get boring after a while. Part of what makes life special is that you only have so much time to do everything in, and everyone has to pick what's important to them."

If the talk of Champion things ever came up, and he mentioned his patron, Tybalt would have reffered to her as "Curador-Sama," a Catfolk word for Elder Healer.

"it's a really big multiverse though, and new things to discover and expirence are made every day. Hundreds of planes to travel to and explore, even on just this one plane there are billions of stars, many of them with a dozen or so planets some of which are teeming with life, countless foes to be fought, people to be met, foods to try, things to learn. Not even with the lifespan of a god could someone expirence it all, not if you did so in person. I heard that one of the teachers, the abjuration one, he predates the creation of this planet by several orders of magnitude and he's still out and about doing stuff. I figure in a few hundred years or so when I'm starting to really feel old I might try for some form of imortality, but that's for me to decide later, in the mean time I'm having fun with my youth and relative mortality" when she mentions patrons he muses for a bit "mine is predictably full of himself, but otherwise fairly nice....
