Nasima, action didn't get very far today so you still have the chance to join the others for a bit if you want.
Everyone else, I'm likely to be online for only a short time tomorrow. I have a dr appt in the morning and I absolutely have to go grocery shopping in the afternoon, so I may be on for an hour or two late morning early afternoon, but very limited.

Me and Cyra are going to have to withdraw from the game.
?!
I'm very sorry to hear that. :(
Especially since the vampire storyline was coming up next. Any chance of coming back later? I mean, hey, life happens, I understand, I'm just sad to see you guys go.

I'll echo the "?!"...

Agh! Dr appt fail. They told me wed and put it in their system for tue. At least they did the blood draw so I don't have to fast again. Fasting + hypoglycemia = bad.
Anyways, if Asch and Amada are in fact leaving we need an exit strategy for them. Taron's prison break perhaps? They found a world they like better? I don't know. I'm at a loss. That at least leaves things open-ended so they can come back later if they like.
Also, since we seem to be down several active players, might be a good time to open up the recruitment thread again. Thoughts?

Taron's upcoming 'road trip' is just the kind of unauthorized jaunt that Asch and Amada would go for - I think that's a great idea.
We should probably get a roll-call for who is still around and is going to stay, then see about reviving the recruitment thread.
Just my humble 2cp, of course...

It's okay - you can say I'm full of the other stuff too. ;D
That being said - I'll never turn down a compliment (^-^)
Anywhoo....I'm still around, and can still provide the occasional 'alternate viewpoint' to life at the school while the main group does its thing. Though I'll try to keep up as I'm able if Fei generates enough interest.

I'm Still Here(and eagerly waiting for my UM to come so I can check out all the new artwork!).

Personally, I think he's okay.
Let's look at a list of characters(whose player's have posted recently and aren't leaving).
1. Krays(a gestalted Sorcerer/Oracle of Death. Is Death's "minion")
2. Ruji(actual strength unknown, has the illusionary of a half-fiendish dire tiger)
3. Vakkler(a crazed kobold who uses crossbows, siege weaponry, and oozes)
4. Aananada Sunwake(a were-dragon, capable martial artist, and more)
5. The Sunwake Trio(all were-dragons. One's a time-traveling agent for Krons, one is a reality warper prone to pranks, and the other is so emotionally unstable that his feelings amplify his psychic abilities)
6. Headmaster Ryo(A High Seer, one of the strongest magical/psychic people in Agartha, and a Cardcaster)
7. Lysander Sandwalker(A Hunter that doesn't seem to care about Ephebe as long as she and the rest of her family stays away from his cousins)
8. Tamrin Sunwake(Arcane Gunslinger extraordinaire, ex-leader of a resistance group that is trying to over a Universal Empirerun by Dragons)
9. Feiri(a firebird that used to live in the sun. Also an evoker.)
10. Fei(monk from another realm, turns kinetic energy into a deadly weapon which he has no control over)
11. Kamenwati(a half-fiend that has training as an assassin, a stormborn sorcerer, and part of a popular band)
12. Ryo's Children(A color mage and his younger siblings, which are fraternal twins that seems to be able to find anything no matter how well it's hidden. Protected fiercely by Ryo and Lysander)
13. Keaton Bloodfang(a vampire that no longer drinks blood)
14. Meantioned but never seen: Adsila(a plant mage, possible the strongest in Agartha), Ormarr(a half-orc with more than his share of snake-based magic)

Hey guys, sorry for my absence. Like I said, day job got busy again and this game is really, really hard to participate in when I'm not able to monitor it constantly and post lots. :-/ I honestly feel guilty 'cos I'm still updating the games I'm GMing and the other couple I'm playing in that all run at a more "normal" pace, and I watch the post count here rocket upwards and every day I get more and more intimidated by it...

It's okay to take yourself down to the occasional cameo without outright quitting if you like. I don't mean for the post count to get intimidating. :(

Nasima Shearskye |

LOL well, it's my fault I'm intimidated, not everyone else's fault for posting lots. I think I'll definitely remain in cameo mode. I have a fair bit of stuff written for Nasima that I want to flesh out in-game, and as a non-fighter she was mostly there as "rescue-bait" in the combat for now anyway, until I got to the more heavy-duty Khoda-in-control parts, so I can't imagine she'll exactly be missed in those scenarios. So I may just run her parallel until such time as I can again contribute meaningfully to the intertwining storylines. I'll do my best to not be disruptive in the meantime.
Thanks for letting me stay on, I enjoy this game a lot, it's effort-intensive but worth it. ^_^

Well, I'm glad you're not actually leaving. I look forward to Nasima's asides. :)

For those who can't post as often, would it help if I posted a synopsis of the action in the discussion thread every couple of days?
It might. I'm certainly overwhelmed by it when I take a day or two off. It's a cool idea.
However, this'd be a pretty difficult task to do alone. I'd be willing to help. I'm not as great a writer as the rest of you when it comes to big text blocks (or ever, depending on how annoying my character is), but I can synop...synopsize...sum up well enough. :P

Thanks, KC. I really appreciate the offer of help. :)
So I guess KC and I will start taking turns at summing up the action roughly every two days so people can keep up with the story more easily. I can put up a summary of the last week's worth of action later today unless he beats me to it. :)

There's a camping trip. The cow guy's gone, and so's Bradley. Everybody else is fine.
I win! Do I get a prize?
:P
I'm assuming the departure is the starting point, though. I'll start there, unless you'd rather do it.
Yeah, I'd start with the departure for the camping trip.
Which I'm gonna cut short. Basically everyone gets transported back during the night of the second day there because of seismic activity on the island. So when the action starts back up that's where we'll be.

Okay. I've done synopsi for roleplays before, actually, but my 'prose' usually just ends up being too detailed in some areas and not detailed enough in others. So I'll try to make it basic and dry. That's my excuse if it reads like a poorly-edited history textbook.
Asch manages to slip an extradimensional container past Vakkler. Bradley does not.
The group arrives at the island with the rest of the student body. They quickly divide into groups.
The forest is composed of massive conifers and ferns, there is a geyser field in the distance, and the sea is quite temperamental. As are the fiendish girallons Bradley provokes.
After the girallons are slowed, Ephebe and her friends move on. Fei and Nasima seem to get along well. They get past the geyser field with minimal damage.
Meanwhile, Nala visits E.J. Jello displays his musical skill. Professor Vakkler, in a sour mood, is putting nearly everybody else in detention.
Amada charms a dire bear, then accidentally abandons it. Kam goes missing. It is discovered that he ran into a man associated with his mother, Lilith. They find the man, who turns out to be Kam's father Rameil. Taron berates Rameil for abandoning his son to his demon-worshiping wife, but reluctantly gives his father-in-law the ability to find Kam, with the cambion's permission.* Rameil is told about the Sunwake family's nature, and about the nature of Kam's and Taron's relationship.
Amada provides the group with a magical mansion to dwell within, but Dennis persuades them to explore a little.
Bradley's group irritates a horde of animate trees. Bradley is absent, so it definitely wasn't his fault. Jiminy realizes Ephebe is sleepwalking after she endorses a reckless plan to burn the horde down. He wants to send her home, but Ephebe convinces him to allow her to stay. The trees are destroyed or slowed.
Vakkler is getting nastier and nastier, prompting several teachers to intervene. Aleister does so, but is 'beaten' by the kobold. In reality, he feared his intelligent sword was taking control, so he headed back to his room to recover. Mr. Vakkler shuts down a TABLE OF SIN.
A tarn linnorm shows up, attacking the group. Dennis is sent back. The linnorm is knocked unconscious, but its regeneration forces a retreat. Unfortunately, the mountains are a poor way of escape. Rocs attack. They send the rash Fieri back, and inconvenience Fei.
Fieri escapes Vakkler by heading reluctantly into Adsila's garden. Vakkler is too terrified of the surface plants to follow. Getting very angry, he steps up his rampage. Fieri and Taron have a talk about their social lives. Vakkler heads to the healers to wait for failed students, having run out of targets. He has another confrontation with Aleister. Aleister indicates Vakkler is well-suited for torturing, and the kobold flies off the handle.
The headmaster finally intervenes, scolding Vakkler. Fieri explains her strict family to Taron, and Taron mentions his plan for a 'prison break'.
Back at the island, the group finds some hot springs. Ephebe reveals her nature to Fei. Fei in turn admits that he killed one of his tutors back home by mistake, due to the buildup of uncontrolled kinetic energy within him. This is why he was sent to Avalon, and why he may not fight. Ephebe sees his fine artwork, and he talks about his deity, Lathander.
*Long sentence is long. I probably could have structured it better. :P
Did I miss anything?

So it looks like we only have one player unaccounted for. And that's Eben (Spin).
Hmmm. This is presenting me with some difficulties. I can work the story around whatever way he decides to go, but I do need to know if he's quitting, taking a hiatus, posting infrequently, or whatever.

The Dalesman |

Hrmmm - not sure what can be done about it. If Spin is AWOL, Ephebe is essentially painted into a corner plot-wise.
It would make for a tragic storyline (and that can be a good thing if done well), but I don't know if that fits the overall theme of the PbP. And I for one would like Ephebe to actually be happy here.
[TAMRIN]: And yeah I'm biased on that - deal with it (^-^)
Does anybody have Eben's email addy to contact him and get an update?

Eben TheQuiet |

Sorry, my time has gotten stretched way too thin lately, both in real life and on the boards.
I doin't know that it's going to slow down this week, though. I havne't had a chance to catch up in-thread. Are you all waiting on Spin for something?
If its' important that he interact, then I'd suggest someone take him over for a bit. I just don't have the time.
Sorry this came on unexpectedly. Life is crazy like that.
Let me know if people need something from me to run Spin. I do plan on returning when things calm down.

We were just doing a roll-call to figure out who was still in the game. If you just need a hiatus for a little while until life calms down a bit, that's totally cool. I just needed to know that so I could make plans, story-wise, since if you were pulling out of the game permanantly then I needed to start working on contingency plans for some aspects of the storyline. We can keep Spin in the background for a while no problem.

Eben TheQuiet |

I will let you know if I decide I don't have the bandwidth to run Spin anymore. i realize that has serious ramifications on Ephebe.
I don't know that I'm at that point just now, though.
I'll keep you all posted, but until you hear otherwise, assume I'm unable to post.
Thanks for the patience. (Sorry I didn't give a heads up)

lynora |

It's all good. Since I had to put off one storyline with Asch and Amada gone (for now at least)I'm bringing another one in sooner than I had been going to. Ephebe is going to have her hands full dealing with some stuff, so it makes sense that she might not be spending as much time around Spin while she's sorting through it.
(I didn't just write those dreams for the heck of it.) :)

lynora |

We do not seem to be getting a lot of nibbles in the recruitment thread. I don't know if it's just a slow week or we're really that scary. ;P
Anyways, I think we should keep the recuitment thread open, and just move on with the game for a bit. Since the kids are coming back from the camping trip early we'll have a day and a half of in-game time to work with before classes resume for the regular school week. That should take us a while and hopefully by then we'll have some new characters to introduce. :)
DB3: I'm gonna shoot you an email about the next bit of the Hunter story arc.
Edit: email sent
