Keep those apps coming. I like what I have seen so far. Sorry I do not have more comments, a friend called who I only talk to a few times a year, and there went most of my posting time for the evening. Should be able to get at least some comments up tomorrow.

Also, we have 31 posters so far, many without full apps. Remember, you have until Tuesday midnight central time (GMT -6 I think) to get them done.

Hmm. Never playes or read this AP.

I'll look at putting together a Dawnflower Dervish or Dervish Dancer Bard...

I would like to put forward Ronan for this campaign. He is an Elven Fighter, planning on using Dervish Dance (so Dexterity and Scimitar). I have never played or heard of (to my knowledge) of the Temple of Elemental Evil.

Here is my breakdown :

Class : Fighter (Tactician)

Skills : Acrobatics, Knowledge (Geography), Linguistics, Perform (Dance), Ride, Stealth and Survival.

Feats : Weapon Finesse, Run

Traits : Highlander (Regional = +1 Stealth and is a Class Skill), Warrior of Old (Race = +2 Initiative)

Alternate Racial Traits : Fleet-Footed (+2 Initiative and gain Run as a bonus feat, lose Keen Senses and Weapon Familiarity), Silent Hunter (Reduce penalty for moving with Stealth by 5, or when running by 20).

Backstory:
Ronan left his family in Kyonin at a very young age, in fact he hadn't even reached adulthood. He wandered around for many, many years living in the wilds, eating what he caught and sleeping where he could. Because of this he has not had much interaction with other people so doesn't talk much and when he does he can be a bit gruff and blunt.

Even though he has spent over 50 years in the wilderness on his own he has continued to practise the way of the sword and has even evolved what he had been taught into his own style, although he hadn't mastered it yet he was feeling confident that he was close.

I can add more, but this is the general gist.

Personality : Ronan looks out for himself first, the others. He has spent many, many years surviving on his own and finds it hard to make friends easily. But once a friend has been made it will take a lot to ruin the friendship.

Answers:

1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?

I rescue myself, as the spider or creature that made the we, is most likely behind me ready to strike. Using the captives as bait.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?

I will try to sneak forwards as much a possible without being seen or heard to find out why they are poking him and what he has done. If they are doing it for fun then I will slice them up.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?

I go to the orphanage as being among nobles would make me feel VERY uncomfortable and by honour I have already agreed to go to the orphanage.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?

By level 5 I hope to have learnt Dervish Dance and be able to provide bonuses to my allies in times of need. By level 10 I am hoping to have started learning how to be a Duelist.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

I can't think of a favourite villian, but my favourite would always be the "insane" one. The one that can fight but is still smart, although they don't show it often (Like Zorpox from Kim Possible). My favourite hero is definitely Athos from the Three Musketeers (Oliver Reed's version).

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.

I have never head of or played ToEE.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?

I quietly wonder why I am in a tavern. But I will still offer my help as it will give me the chance to improve my sword play. The lack of reward would not be an issue.

Everything is sorted out and on my profile if you need it. Feel free to ask any questions.

Dotting for interest. I'm thinking barbarian, but I have this tendancy of puting up something other than th class I name in the 'stating interest' post. . .

I believe it will be a standard rogue, I do not know of any archetypes but that is up to the player.

Yes, level 1 to start.

I'd like to submit a 1/2 orc staff magus Named Gideon Samus Shaw. I'll post his shell in a moment. I need to rework his sheet a bit. I built him for another game, but will alter if/when chosen. He'll be a straight staff magus.

This is Tiny Coffee Golem.

LIke I said I'll rework him to a straight staff magus. His basic background is that he's a wanderer. Clearly he has something to prove, but he's tight lipped about his past. When asked what he does he simply states that he is a wanderer.

As confirmed via PM, I'll be putting forward an Archon-blooded Aasimar / Dwarf Paladin with the Stonelord archetype.

Crunch:
Str: 17, Dex 8, Con 18, Int 12, Wis 12, Cha 12
Traits:
Good Influence: +1 trait bonus on Diplomacy checks when attempting to persuade a nongood creature to make a decision that benefits the cause of good, and when persuading a nonlawful creature to make a decision in line with the laws of the region.
These bonuses stack if you attempt to persuade a nongood, nonlawful creature to take a lawful good action.
Glory of Old (Five Kings Mountains): In your veins flows the blood of dwarven heroes from Tar Taargadth. You receive a +1 trait bonus on saving throws against spells, spell-like abilities, and poison.
Feats:
Power Attack: -1 on attack for +2 damage (+3 if two handed)
Skills:
Diplomacy, Knowledge (Religion), Sense Motive
Gear: Warhammer, Scale Mail, Heavy Steel Shield, Earthbreaker, Throwing Hammers

Questions:
1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?
Pausing before them for a moment with sadness in my eyes I explain "Death approaches and the fates have given me moments to save but one of you... I ask for guidance, which of you should live?". As they answer I hear their words and look upon them, whichever pleads most earnestly and faithfully that they be left - will be the one I save. Whichever pleads for their own life shall be left to die.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?
Calling upon the grace offered me by my forebears I clash my hammer against my shield, willing it to burn in cold flame as I do so. Bellowing with fury I charge the goblins, expecting them to scatter before me. Once they are gone, then I will see the prisoner freed and to safety... before returning to track the goblins down and see justice served.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?
Arriving at the orphanage early I will have arranged a carriage to be waiting. Whisking the orphans within I would then bring the children to the King's banquet. The choice would then be upon the regent... accept us all and show his compassion and generosity... or deny us.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?
I will be leveling as a straight Paladin. Feats choices will be centered around making him as rock hard as possible, while skills will complement him acting as moral center for the party, and potentially take a leadership role.
Heavy armor, and magical items to increase his defensive focus will be preferred.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.
Villain - Mr Croup and Mr Vandemar from Neverwhere (by Gaiman): because they are utterly implacable, polite even as they commit acts most foul... and everything they do, they do so with style.
Hero - Itkovian Otanthalian from Malazan Book of the Fallen: because of his selflessness and commitment to duty despite the odds and forces against him. Had the epic strength of character to do what he believed right, regardless of the consequences.

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.
I am a ToEE virgin and have not had any previous exposure.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?
"Tell me my man... will you stand at my side and shed blood with me in the endeavor?" carefully listening to his response. If he has the will to fight then I would keep him safe and walk through fire to see his daughter returned... if he would not, then I would still see his daughter saved... but would then counsel her to not return home.

Background, appearance and whatnot to follow shortly.

DM Chaos, how are you with harrow cards?

I fancy playing a Varisian Pilgrim, at level 8 they get

Blessing of the Harrow (Su):

Once per day, a harrower may perform a harrowing for herself and all allies within 20 feet of her. This harrowing takes 10 minutes, and allies to be affected by it must remain within 20 feet of the harrower for the entire time. At the conclusion of the harrowing, count up the number of cards from each suit that were used in the reading. This harrowing provides a bonus based upon the suit with the most cards showing. In case of a tie, choose one suit. The bonus lasts for 24 hours. The suits grant insight bonuses as follows. Strength: +1 on attack rolls; Dexterity: +1 to AC; Constitution: +1 on weapon damage rolls; Intelligence: +1 on all skill checks; Wisdom: +1 on all saving throws; Charisma: +1 on caster level and concentration checks.

And I'll probably take the harrowed feat to fit the theme.

A few notes as I was reading through.

@ mbauers --> the Focus/Foible is before racial adjustments. It looks like you started your Charisma with 10 and then deducted 2 for being a grumpy dwarf. It should have been 9 or lower before the adjustment (with a minimum of 7 after adjustments).

@Rhodes/Me’mori --> missing second feat

@GeraintElberion --> I am not that familiar with the Harrow Cards and will have to look at them. As this is principally based in Taldor, not Varisia, there would be far less of this here.

_________________

I have started to read through the answers and submissions and many look good. It will tough making choices. If you are still interested, there are far fewer Arcane/Divine/Skill applications than Melee which is far and away the favorite at this point. Remember, you still have more than 2 days as the deadline is not until midnight on Tuesday central US time.

For all - I have no problem with you making adjustments (race, class, archetypes, skills, etc.) - even withdrawing one application and submitting another as long as you make it clear which one will be your final submission. If you put up two and I have to read through both of them, it is unlikely to help you with either one.

Fair enough, I'm playing about with a different cleric idea as well: I might try submitting him instead.

Sorry, Cha should be 6. 7 + 1 (age) - 2 Dwarf = 6. That was a typo.

I'll finish skills, background, name, etc sometime tonight or tomorrow.

Sorry, GM. Whoric is lawful good like his god.

GeraintElberion here, this is an Elven archer cleric, rather than the harrower.

Questions and Answers:

1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?

Beauty has its own value and virtue but Malaswyn would save the goodly cleric if all other things were equal.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?

Rescue the prisoner: prisoner isn't in immediate mortal danger so he might make sure it isn't a trap first.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?

It depends on the king, he would want to visit the kids, but if it was a vindictive monarch who might punish the villagers for denying him his guest then he might go to the king.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?

He is fairly gnomic and reluctant to interfere with other's decisions, despite his long experience: by level 5 he should be more thrusting and confident. By level 10 he will increasingly see others as part of his flock and seek to provide wise counsel and leadership.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

Favourite hero: Sir Geraint, Arthurian knight. He is a mighty warrior but chivalry and virtue are actually more important.
Favourite villain: I prefer scheming villains and terrifying despots... probably Macbeth and Lady Macbeth.

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.

I have heard it spoken of by lots of other players but have never read or played in ToEE in any format.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?

Assuming that the man can be trusted and there is no body else on hand, tell the man to stall the bandits and rescue the girl. That's what adventurers are for!

Backstory

Ranim Nejem's family fled well before she was born to the lands of Taldor. Her father, a Jann, had been enslaved by an Efreeti Malik in his youth. During this time he fell in love with a human woman, another servant of this Malik, and one night the two of them escaped his palace.

The two ran from the Malik's soldier's, making their way close to the Taldane border in Qadira, though the travel taking them a year. The Malik was vengeful and refused to give up the chase. Eventually the woman gave birth, a girl. Knowing they would never escape the Malik, they decided instead to entrust their future to this child. Giving her to a Varisian performer who was helping them escape, they gave up their freedom to be capture by the Malik's soldiers, hoping they did not know of the child. The only gift she had from them was her name, Ranim Nejem.

She grew up in Taldane, living amongst the performers. At a young age she learned to sing and dance, to assist with the shows. She would have had a good life amongst them, but she did not feel it was home. She never knew the story of her parents, her step-father having hid it from her. But she did feel a calling of some form, though to what she did not know. Upon reaching adolescence, a change came though not the one expected. She could feel the elemental pull of her heritage, of the Jann which was her father. And with that, she knew she would soon leave the caravan.

She did wait a few more years, becoming more aloof with the rest of the crew, focusing on her newfound abilities. Eventually, as the caravan passed through Taldor, she knew it was time. No real goals or objectives in sight, one day she simply left, following some unknown pull. Eventually she found herself walking into the Inn of the Spider Queen, though she has no idea what she is to find.

Personality

Ranim is an aloof individual, prone to acting based on desires. One moment she can be dead serious, the next curious and wandering. The one constant is when her friends are in danger, she will do what she must to help them.

Details on why your character decided to seek his fortune in this desolate corner of the Inner Sea.

Ranim is a curious person by her nature, stories of this area drawing her as much as some unknown instinct. She has sung many stories of other heroes and has decided she wishes to witness some first hand. She feels that here she can fine these stories.

Questions:

1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?

The maiden is the obvious choice. The priest has received training to help themselves and is most likely able to find their own way out, while the maiden most likely lacks these skills. Plus the web can be lit and hopefully save both with healing magic.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?

Enthrall the goblins with songs of burning and fire, to allow an ally to rescue the bound prisoner.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?

Bring the children to the banquet. They would certainly enjoy such an affair. And what goodly king would turn down such an act, especially from a brave hero?

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?

I forsee mostly the same role as level 1. Focus will be on a support role, including 2nd tier combat support, buffing, as-needed healing. Hopefully some illusion control
5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

Ooh, difficult one. Too many choices. Villain wise I would have to say Rezo the Red Priest. He just wanted to be able to see, and was willing to risk the world to do it. Plus he believed he had the power to prevent the risks associated with his plan. Grandiose motivations are nice, but it's the little ones like that I really enjoy. Hero wise is equally difficult. Eddard Stark is a good example from the Game of Thrones.

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.

I've read the 3rd return entirely (though forgotten most of it), started it literally 17 times (stupid moathouse) and it never take off, both as player and GM. A friend tried converting the original to Pathfinder, but I only played a couple sessions of it and didn't get a good feel for it.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?

Ambush. I act as a decoy presenting the money (possibly fake, or an illusion) while the rest of the party ambushes the villains. If they don't bring the daughter, well we wing it from their.

Me too, though his mechanics didn't quite work out the way I wanted them to. I'd have to re-boot him slightly, but the fluff would remain basically the same.

There are a lot of applicants and quite frankly I don't want to do the work to re-vamp him unless I get picked. Of course I may just get inspired one day and do it in an afternoon. ;-)

The halfing barbarian is not coming... For now, consider my application withdrawn.

No problem. If you want to submit an application, it is open until midnight on Tuesday (GMT-6).

Ok seeing what you accept I'll be going with Ifreet and retooling this character, should have her complete and the resonses in by tomorrow.

OK wanted a stealthy killer so going with a Kensai/Hexcrafter Magus, who wields a Katana and focuses on fighting with Miss chance and Stealth.

working on it now.

Question: Will you allow the ARG Alt Favored class bonuses? Specifically the elf one which gains 1 extra Arcana/6 levels?

Thinking about a Half-Elf Sorcerer(Draconic) that'll be going Dragon Disciple.

Born on Minata in Tian Xia, Jin had a wonderful future ahead of himself. Until the raiders came...Then the son the village wizard lost everything, not more than a few years into his magical training. His home destroyed and sold into slavery to the members of House Thrune.
He spent nearly a Century as the body slave to the house Wizard, who'd recognised the boys weak will but brilliant intelligence.

Trained only to be an assistant and, when the mood took his master, a pleasure slave, it took only a few beatings and magical compulsions to break the boys Will, so much so that when assasins broke in one night, Jin under no magical influence leapt to his masters defence.
The wizard looked on in disbelief as he used a firepoker to fend an assasin and, unexpectedly he was able to daze his foe with magic before felling him.

The fact he had only seen his master cast this spell and further, the fact he managed to recite the inflections and complete the gestures, whilst simultaneously swinging his improvised weapon spoke of possibility to his master.

Deciding that his ability to wield weapon AND magic would prove valuable his training began in earnest. Voilently. He began having him trained under skilled and repeatedly brutal instructors. Jin asked for none of this, hated it. Hated not having a life, hated his master for deciding his fate, hated himself for not letting the assasin finish his work. Jin had enough, but was not beyond reason. The new tortures the now young elf had endured to harden his body had also rebuilt his spirit. His foolish master believed him finally tamed, an so he would appear, until he had sufficient power to find his justice. Knowing the spells he'd discoverd were not sufficent to kill his master in open combat, Jin waited until they were on the road and Murdered him in his sleep.

Using his racial Darkvision and the few spells he had, Jin ran with his Masters purse as far as the gold would take him. Surely the house would not find him in Taldor.

Azure_Zero wrote:

that or aasimar(Emberkin) Sorcerer(Draconic)

Jin is Finished. Went with a Hexcrafter Staff Magus.
Also Jin has 2 alt racial traits from ARG.

let me know if these are ok.

Alt traits:
•Arcane Focus: Some elven families have such long traditions of producing wizards (and other arcane spellcasters) that they raise their children with the assumption each is destined to be a powerful magic-user, with little need for mundane concerns such as skill with weapons. Elves with this racial trait gain a +2 racial bonus on concentration checks made to cast arcane spells defensively. This racial trait replaces weapon familiarity.

•Darkvision: Though uncommon, some groups of elves are born with darkvision, rather than low-light vision. In many cases this is taken as a sign of a drow in the elf's ancestry, and can lead to persecution within the elf's home community. Elves with this racial trait gain darkvision with a range of 60 feet, but also gain sensitivity to light and are dazzled in areas of bright light or within the radius of a daylight spell. This racial trait replaces low-light vision.

Answers to your Questions:
1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?The priest. The majority of beautiful women Jin has seen were either cruel Chelish nobility or Quick wives. Jin knows a bit about religion and as a follower of Ragathiel feels kinship with Imodaen followers. He'd feel really guilty about the woman though

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?Sneak about looking for other goblins first. 3 is a fairly small number for them. If Jin finds none he'll use his sling to hit one from concealment, when the stupid things go invvestigating he'll free the prisoner. If they don't take the bait, he'll harry them until they do.
He can outrun them and can take them out one on one.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?Have my familiar convery my apologies and explain the Kings invite. It does not pay to ignore a king. Jin spent years learining NOT to tick off nobility. And he can bring gifts for the kids later.

How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?
Nothing set in stone yet. But mechanically Jin is shooting for Moonlight Stalker and fighting from Concealent. He'll have a Raven familiar and Rime Frostbite and Intensified Shocking grasps are his main go to spells. The story will depend on his personality development but as he masters his swordplay and gains power he'll start thinking about vengeance on house Thrune.

Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.
Same guy. Artemis Enterai from R.A. Salvatore's Drizzt Novels. Starts out as a real killer with something to prove and like, 6 books later got his own spin off where we find out the tortured beginnings of an innocent boy who became a souless killer as a matter of survival and only in his 40's through interactions with Jarlaxle begins to confront his demons and FEEL again.

You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?
See if any are willing to come with me. If not, go myself but Jin is not stupid. Unless this happens later in his career and he has lots of magical options, he'll likely find the hideout and pick them off one by one till he can get to the girl.

@ Jin Takashi - Fixed - will review again later - thanks

@ Azure_Zero & anyone else with Aasimar bloodlines --> please give me links to the relevant pages from Book of Angels or wherever you are getting the bloodlines from. I do not have the books and cannot find the stuff om the d20pfsrd.com.

DM Chaos - will PM Archon-Blooded details to you.

@ Jin Takashi - just wondering, your background is about apprenticing for a wizard, yet your class is Ranger(urban) - did you fail to change the class? Otherwise you might want to look at the background as it does not seem to match with the crunch.

Was updating from an old alias. He's done now. Apprenticed to a Wizard and then trained to fight under paid instruction.

Ragathiel is his patron.

@Zariah: I didn't realize we were already in a campaign together! Good luck, I like the concept of a Ifirit Fire oracle, now that I think about it, how cool would a four person TOEE group be, with something like a Ifirit Fire Oracle, Oread Fighter, Sylph Wizard and Undine Rogue. *shutter* just realized the connections that could be implied between a group like that and Captain Planet...

Posting to dot and let ya know there's plenty of interest. Tomorrow I will submit a couple ideas, could ya pick one or two so I can develop?

This looks interesting. I have never played the adventure (or any of the related games) but I've been wanting to play a suli arcane duelist for a while now. I'm gonna start in on the questions and fluff now, and fill in the crunch later.

Ah, stats and traits ... I have kept the original Elven racial statistics, but changed 2 of the original Elven racial traits. I changed Elven Magic, Keen Senses and Weapon Familiarity. All the changes came from the Ultimate Race Guide.

My purpose for adventuring into Taldor was ... I was surviving in the wilds and just happened to wander into Taldor at the time. My goals are to live and to get better at my sword-play. If I can find out what caused the unrest those years before, then even better.

To keep all things equal, I would prefer if you make a decision and just submit one application. With the number of applications that I already have, if I find people with multiples, it is likely not going to benefit you.

Hey Chaos, this is Jerin from the CotCT game with Aron. Here is my submission. Arindale, Cleric of Cayden Calien. Stats and background linked in.

GM Questions:

I don't know anything about the temple other than what you have given in the background.
Questions for all submissions:
1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?
The priest, by gaining his favor you can always heal or raise the maiden from death!
2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?
Ask the goblins what the prisoner did, he might have attacked them for no reason for all I know.

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?
Take the invitation from the King, then ask the king to help the orphanage, thus giving them much more than your original visit would have provided. You can then visit them at a later date.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?
He will be a fighting cleric, protecting the others in his group as best he can. Cleric all the way, with feats building to grow his fighting power.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

Villain - The Orc King from the Drizzt series. An unconventional villain, the heroes for once were unable to defeat him, he was more powerful that they thought, but in the end he was trying to build a place for the orcs, even though they are evil.
Hero - I love tragic heroes. Fitz from the Farseer Trilogy by Robin Hobb. He is an assassin who is good person but must do some bad things in his life. Great read but not a light read.

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.
Nothing.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?
Find out what you can about the brigands, their numbers, strength. If you can wipe face them and rescue her you do, otherwise you tell him you are sorry...

I plan to play this character seriously, although he should have some light hearted moments with the drinking. Hope you like the character.

Poor Wandering one here. Alias is work in progress. Is the format good for you?

Alignment for my tactician: NG

Name: Hywel Mawr

Reusing the alias from a dead campaign. No relation save name and icon.

I am hoping to base Hwyel on D'Artagnan (book or mayde Michael York version) and Cyrano de Bergerac though I doubt I will reach the heights of Dumas or Rostand.

Happy to answer any questions.

Good luck, I do not envy your choice.

Liberty's Edge

Just posting to say I'm still alive out here and keeping an eye on the thread though there hasn't been anything asked which would have required me posting in.

I also wanted to say hey to Poor Wandering One there. We've had a couple false starts on PbPs, though they didn't last he's a great player.

Whoever gets in, this looks like its going to be a great game so good luck to you all.

-Tarlane

Back at you Tarlane.
Good to see you around.

GM Chaos, Tarlane is an excellent choice who knows what it means to run one of these games so you will be getting an excellent and reliable player.

Likewise, and wincing with every new submissions, especially the divine ones! Best of luck all, TOEE will be a real treat. Oh to visit Hommlet again ...

Also - I checked the web and there are some really great graphic resources out there for this campaign.

Make you feel better Orion - alas I've just not found the time to properly shape my Oread monk... :(

I graciously bow out and wish everyone the best, promises to be a stellar game.

Question 1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?

I'd burn any threats away, and try to rescue both of them.

Question 2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?

I'd intimate the goblins and or fight them and help the prisoner,
and ask a few questions about him, then decide what to do with him; turn him in or let him go.

Question 3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?

As much as I would like to go to the banquet, I promised the orphanage first, that and the little ones are the ones who are in most need, and have little.

Question 4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?

Sorc (+ maybe another class) -> starting Dragon Disciple at level 6.

Question 5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

I'll go with the .hack series, favorite villain: Cubia, favorite hero Kite.

why?:
Kite was trying to save his friends and the other lost ones, using a power that should not exist, and things kept getting worse for him, especially whenever Cubia appeared to stop him from talking to Aura.

Cubia is one of my favorite villains, because he was the opposite side of the coin to Kite literally, Kite's Illegal power gave birth to Cubia and made him stronger, as Kite got stronger. And this forced Kite to abandon that power in there last encounter, before Kite could finish off the last of the Cursed Wave using that power.

Question 6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.

I've only played the TOEE demo released by Atari, in 2003.

GM:
I recall it was a moat house in the swamp, with a dungeon below. But not much else, other than Gnolls, Goblins, Bugbears, in the dungeon and Willo-wisps TPKing my party.

Question 7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?

She'll help the father, and attack the brigands at night using sleep spells to KO the guards or a fiery distraction, then rescue the daughter, and get out.

Race: 2d4 ⇒ (3, 1) = 4 Aasimar
Gender: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 4) = 8

BELOR BLADETHIRST

Male human Barbarian (Invulnerable Rager) 1
Str 19, Dex 14, Con 16, Int 7, Wis 10, Cha 11
Skills Intimidate 1, Perception 1
Feats Exotic Weapon Proficiency (Bastard Sword) (PFCR 123), Power Attack (PFCR 131)
Traits Bred for War (Race: Shoanti), Courageous (Combat)

short Backstory/Personality:
Before Belor had gone through his rite of passage, his parents were killed in a giant attack on his tribe. The battale was long and bloody. At the end, his father had cut down the last giant but succumbed to his injuries afterwards. In a rage, Belor took up the blade the giant had used to kill his father and brutally hacked at the bodies of the giants with it. He kept the blade with him and trained with it after he had became an adult member of the tribe.

Belor has no patience for puzzles and things he cannot understand, preferring to use brute force to solve his problems.

Questions:

1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?

The beautiful maiden. The priest can get himself out of trouble. And if not, since he's spent (read: wasted) his whole life devoted to his god, he can wait for his bloody god to help him. When that doesn't happen, the priest will have learned that you can never trust a god. A good final lesson for him. Anyways, the maiden is the one in need of the help and has the better reward to offer.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?

Give out a roar and charge the little monsters. If they stay to fight I can cut them in half. Once they're dealt with I can see if the prisoner is a beautiful maiden that can offer a reward...

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?

Bah! Stick with the orphanage. I can't stand all that yap-yap-yapping that goes on in those places. Too boring.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?

What do you take me for? A shaman who reads animal guts to tell the future? Not me. The only certainty is that, if I'm alive, I'll be stronger, have more nicks on my sword and more notches on my belt.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.

I've read and seen too much (and have a piss poor memory) so don't really have a fav. As I'm in a barbarian frame of mind, Conan for the hero and Thulsa Doom (yay James Earl Jones) as the enemy. It was an amazing movie and one of the things that got me into reading fantasy and playing D&D.

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.

I think I might own the module package. Probably in a box in the basement with my other 2nd ed stuff (assuming I haven't thrown them all out). Played the ToEE video game a long long time ago. Didn't realize there was more than one so I can't say which it was. Played through the Return to the ToEE a few+ years back. My rogue died from a dread wraith (or whatever they were) when he drew the Death card from a Deck of Many Things.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?

How old is the daughter and is she cute? Regardless, I'd go slaughter me some brigands. More fun and challenging than slaughtering pints of ale. The money is nice too, I guess.

Maegge Weissam (see my profile for statblock)

Background:

The Weissam clan of halflings have been the groundskeepers, foresters, game managers, and hunt masters for the eastern Andoran nobles for longer than there has been an Andoran. Intimately familiar with the Verduran Forest, many among the Weissams feel an affinity for the forest that is the bewilderment of their more traditionally-minded kin in the cities.

Foremost among the Weissams who most strongly feel the call of the wild is Maegge. Brought along with his father on his various tasks in the forest, Maegge grew up in the wooded hills climbing trees, fishing creeks, and catching frogs. Taught every use of every plant and the track and spoor of every animal, Maegge was the rising star of the Weissams as they sought to carve out a place for themselves in the human-dominated society.

Shortly after reaching adulthood, Maegge's love of the natural world ran afoul of the Lumber Consortium. Returning home from consulting with the gnomes of Wispil, he came across a magnificent elk caught in a bear trap. The poor elk had obviously been trapped there for several days: it's trapped leg was shattered and the bloody wound had long since scabbed over, tongue hanging out hot and dry, eyes glazed over in pain and exhaustion. Outraged, he carefully poured out his waterskin into the beast's mouth. Stirring in even this incredibly minor relief, the elk's eyes cleared to watch Maegge tend it. Refilling his waterskin several times til the elk had appeared to have its fill, Maegge carefully worked his way to checking out the trap.

In a way, the elk had been lucky: the trap was old and beginning to rust - which prevented its snapping bite from taking off the elk's leg entirely. Carefully dismantling the hinge, he at last pried the jaws apart to free the elk. Even freed, the animal was in no shape to do anything: its leg was broken and it was still half-starved and unable to move on its own.

It was at this point he was interrupted by the Lumber Consortium trapper who'd laid the trap in the first place. Yelling, the man proclaimed poaching, theft, and damage to property. Incandescently furious in turn, Maegge wanted nothing more than for the trapper to be swallowed up and silenced to leave him and the elk alone and never hurt any more creatures. When the plants suddently up and grew and wrapped around the man and pulled down to the ground, Maegge was absolutely surprised by this turn of events.

Taking refuge in action, he turned around to the elk still laying on the ground. Stroking the fur of its leg, he wished for it to be normal and fully healed so the elk would be able to get up and walk and escape. Eyes closed in despair, he felt the elk move under his hand: much more powerfully than it had so far. Snapping his eyes open, he saw the leg was indeed whole and firm. Even more startled than he had been about the trapper, he fell backwards as the elk stood up.

The elk, however, did not run away as Maegge expected it to. Instead, the great beast was patiently looking at him as if expecting something. Reaching out a shaking hand to stroke the elk's muzzle, the elk lowered his head to meet him halfway.

Maegge's life change at that moment. He returned to Wispil - followed by the elk - where he felt a new kinship with the gnomes and druids there. The druids in particular seemed surprised by this at first, but after hearing his story they welcomed him to their order with open arms. He stayed long, learning from the other druids in the ways of their mutual calling, until the inevitable consequences returned to drive him out of his new community.

The trapper, Nurcha Simek, had been trapped by the clinging (literally) underbrush for hours before their hold at last relaxed to being normal roots and bushes. He returned to his bosses, who were now intent on charging Maegge with attempted murder as chief among his host of crimes. Forewarned by fellow druids, he fled Wispil one step ahead of the Consortiums bully-boys who had no interest in a fair trial. He's wandered the forest with Gimpy, his elk companion, for the last several months since then. They've learned from and taught the other in their own ways. Maegge has even begun to ride Gimpy; a means to travel faster, and build trust in each other.

Without any specific reason why, but a feeling of 'wrongness', Maegge and Gimpy have been wandering northeastwards into Taldor. On a rare occasion for Maegge to have to go into town to resupply, his odd sensitivity guiding him to take comfort and relax in the Inn of the Spider Queen.

Questions

1. Maegge would rescue the priest; he would be confident that the priest would do better to help other people than a woman about whom nothing is known.

2. Surprise the goblins and rescue their prisoner.

3. Visit orphans; he had a wonderful childhood, and orphans need something like that. Kings have always had everything they could ever think of.

4. I don't plan character development; I prefer to grow them organically according to their adventures. That said, by level 5 I'd say Maegge would at least be fully grown into being a druid, a calling he'd never really grew up with or anticipated becoming. By 10, he'll become much more "spiritual" about (alignment shift of LN to TN) life and nature.

5. Favorite "hero" would be Eleanor of Aquitaine. "Villian", curiously enough, is her youngest son - the infamous King John.

6. Never read ToEE, or played a video game of it.

7. Give the father money, then stalk him to the meeting place and observe that everything happens that is supposed to. When the father and his daughter leave, ambush the bandits and tie them up to be arrested for kidnapping and extortion.

Wow this part is throwing me for a loop, since I tend to evenly distribute my points as so I don't have a weak point, and am not power gaming on min-maxing.

I'll see What I come up with for stats.

I submit Tessa Stormrage, CG Suli arcane caster.

Backstory:
Tessa was born during the terrible battle of the joined forces to defeat the "elemental evil" on Galt. Her mother was already very close to deliver the baby when she was rescued from the grasp of the villains and didn't survive childbirth; the father was completely unknown.

After the battle, an elven wizard named Variel took the child to care, his curiosity picked by some perceived "elemental imbalance" deep within the child. He brought the baby back with him to Kyonin, against the wishes of many of his elvish bethren and his own wife Sulara.

As Tessa grew extremely quickly for her elven father's standards, that strange imbalance grew with her. Her moods were wild, volatile things, lovingly small girl one second to raging storm on the other, following by intense bouts of depression. It wouldn't help that the elves always made her feel like an outsider and Sulara never made her feel quite at home.

She was 12 when she got involved in a bout with a few elven children that resulted in electrical burns on one of the boys, Variel was finally certain of the girl's elemental force. He decided to teach her his magic hoping the effort of controlling magical energies would help the girl tame her own volatile nature. Indeed she got into fewer troubles, but that was more because of the time she dedicated to the magical learning than a supposed mystical effect. She could finally control her elemental outbursts, and turned out a very dedicated spellcaster, even if hot-blooded and distracted at times.

On her nineteenth birthday, Tessa confronted Variel as she would every year on that date. This year, though, Variel finally felt secure enough to tell the young woman the truth about her birth. The result was catastrophic. She exploded in anger, throwing one magical assault after the other at Variel when she learned she wasn't his daughter. The elf calmly let her vent her rage, dispelling spells and trying to contain the damages of her wrath. He did not object when the girl gathered her possessions and left the elven woods searching for her past.

Crunch:
Tessa would have a very low Wisdom score. She has a volatile temper, is easily distracted, and the warring elements fighting inside her make for a poor willpower. She would change her racial -2 Intelligence modifier to Wisdom in any case.

She could easily be any of the following classes (the Elven Wizard Variel could easily be the Elven Magus Variel), depending on the party composition and needs:

Magus (Elemental Knight Archetype)
Sorcerer (Crossblooded Archetype)
Wizard (Evocation [Admixture] Specialist)

Questions:

1) Before you is a huge web. In it are a priest of Iomedae and a beautiful maiden. You have time to rescue one of them, which one and why?
I would rather burn the web and use a spell to get both to safely. If that's not possible, I would rescue the maiden, since the priest looks more capable of handling himself if something happens.

2) You are traveling through the forest and you suddenly see three goblins poking at a bound prisoner on the ground. What do you do?
Fire and brimstone!

3) You just returned from successfully defeating a dragon which had been terrorizing the local villages. An orphanage requested that the brave heroes come so that the children can meet them. You accept, but then receive an invitation from the King to join him at a banquet in your honor. You cannot do both, what do you do?
I know what it's like to lose family. Those boys need me more than the king.

4) How do you expect your character to develop by level 5? Level 10?
Mechanically, she would continue single-class. She would focus on utility and elemental spells.

5) Who is your favorite villain and your favorite hero from a medieval story and why? Can be historic, from a book, or from a movie.
I'm a history nerd, and I tend to like the medieval knights as Roland or Charlesmagne. Even though history carried out their "honor" and deeds, they were hard men bred by bloody times faced with difficult choices left and right (Charlesmagne ordered the killing of 4.500 Saxon prisoners in retaliation for a revolt). Those people were both heroes and villains, shades of grey.

6) Let me know if/how much you have played/read the ToEE - any version including AD&D, 3rd Ed., Return to ToEE, or any video games or novels.
I started playing the computer game a lot of time ago, but didn't even get to leave the city. Consider 0 experience.

7) You are sitting in a tavern when a distraught father runs in and announces that his daughter has been kidnapped by brigands and now they are demanding a ransom or will kill her. He says he has no money to reward the party but hears that the brigands have had much success. What do you do?
I jump into the situation, fire in my eyes as I barely contain the elements inside. What did they do to her? They. will. pay.
