Uldar takes a step back (to M16) and rapidly fires two arrows at Guard A. The shafts rip through the Guard's armor into his chest, killing him instantly!
Roran attacks Guard B (with the falchion?) and hits the foe with such force that he splits the enemy in two causing immediate death!
Guards A and B are dead.
Roran: How do you get a +20 on your damage roll?

Brandor Bulwark |

Brandor sees the crowd, and decides the party could use the blessings of Moridin to aid them. He casts Bless (+1 attack and save vs fear).

![]() |

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (13) + 1 = 14
Brandor invokes the blessing of his deity, aiding the attacks of his comrades!
Kalizama rubs a pinch of powdered iron between her fingers, and then points at Guard C. Suddenly a flaming sphere appears, and the guard cannot dodge it (DC15), suffering a hideous burn!
Trane makes a complicated hand gesture and mumbles a phrase, as he starts a summoning.
Garm?

Garm Stoutsole |

Garm sighs inwardly at the brigands. Like the foolish Barbarians of Yeld, these guards know nothing of the subtleties of tactics. We shall rout them like the Lions of Keeba did over a hundred years ago.
Garm begins Inspire Courage.
Inspire Courage: +2 morale bonus on saving throws against charm and fear effects and a +2 competence bonus on attack and weapon damage rolls.

![]() |

Garm begins a recitation of courage, inspiring the combat capabilities of his comrades!
Group 2: The Guards

Guard D attacks Roran with a sword 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14 but he is able to block the blow with his shield!

F - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
G - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
The bolts fly haphazardly, all missing their mark!
Guards H-O, alarmed that an attack has started, leap out of their bunks and begin equipping their armor and weapons!

Round 2
Group 1: The Players

Garm Stoutsole |

Garm takes a deep breath before rounding the corner he's behind and firing off a shot at the nearest guard. Five Foot Step?
Lt. Crossbow: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 6 + 2 = 11 -4 if the target is engaged in melee with an ally. I will prefer targets not in melee of course.
Bolt: 1d6 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 8
He then reloads his crossbow as quickly as he can and pray one of the stray bolts doesn't hit him. Move action/

Roran, you can always declare in case the enemy drops you step over the body and attempt a cleave over the next one providing a contingency cleave attack roll. If you cannot, Story Master will just adjust your action or ask you for a fix.

Roran Strax |

That's a good point Uldar.
Roran takes a five foot step forward, laughing as the attacks bounce off his armor. "My sister hits harder than you!" He brings his falchion sideways for another cut. But he is overeager and bangs his blade into the wall.

Kalizama moves forward, directing her Flaming Sphere to pursue Guard C:
Reflex Save: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (9) + 1 = 10
Guard C is burned by the incoming sphere! At the same time, Kalizama points into the far room and CRAAAACK! A bolt of lightening erupts from her hand, traveling in a straight line and hitting Guards D, C, E and G!

G - 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
The bolt of electrical energy rips through all four Guards, killing them instantly! Wow...
Garm rounds the corner and fires a bolt at Guard F - but the guard has cover behind the mantlet, and the bolt buries itself into the protective wood!
Uldar fires two arrows at Guard F! The first manages to strike the Guard causing a major wound, but the second arrow is deflected by the mantlet!
Roran moves forward and attempts to slash Guard F with his flachion, but the foe is able to dodge the blow!
Roran, I moved you to N-12

Trane finishes his spell, and transforms into a lion! He and his animal companion then move forward toward the fight!
Group 2: The Guards
Guard F steps east and fires another bolt at Roran 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13 but the shot bounces off his armor!
The other Guards see multiple foes advancing upon them, and they cease their attempts to don armor, equip their weapons, and ready themselves to fight!

"They are reading their weapons, be prepared for a charge!" the halfling takes arrow after arrow from his carcaj and sends them flying over the room to the foes.

![]() |

Brandor is eager to join the fight, and he hurries toward the room full of foes!
Roran quickly steps forward and, reaching over the wood barricade, swings his weapon at Guard F, striking with a critical hit that smashes into the enemy, slicing him in half! He then twirls and strikes at Guard H, who tries to parry the blow but instead is horrified to see Roran weapon slide down his own sword and plunge deep into his chest, killing him!
Uldar steps forward and, spotting Guard I, rapidly shoots him with two arrows! Both shafts strike the unarmored Guard, burying themselves in his chest, killing him!

Trane: There are no living enemies south of the wooden barrier which blocks the passageway between rooms. I will update the map - take a look at current positions of foes and rethink your move. For all players: climbing or jumping over the barricade and remaining standing will take either an acrobatics or a climb skill roll MINUS your armor check penalty (we are in the midst of battle). The DC is 10 for either skill. If you fail the roll, do a Reflex save to see if you still land on your feet, or whether you end up falling prone.
The map is updated.

![]() |

Can we knock down the barrier, either by tipping it over or smashing it? Roran is pretty good at those kind of things.
Yes you can! It cannot be tipped, due to its shape. It has a hardness of 5, 20 hit points, and a break DC of 15. Piercing damage has no effect, so bludgeoning or slashing are the choices.

Garm Stoutsole |

Garm will attempt another shot at a nearby guard, five foot step back to cover if possible and then reload.

Group 2: The Guards
The unarmored guards retreat toward the rear of the room, yelling Help! We're under attack! They grab javelins from one of the barrels along the back wall and hurl them at Roran!

O - 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 2 = 17
A shower of javelins coming toward him, Roran ducks behind the barricade and escapes injury!
The north door of the room opens, and two powerful-looking warriors enter the room, moving toward the barricade. One laughs, pointing at you with his sword as he advances! The second kisses the blade of his battle axe, which is emitting a soft glow, and screams, Attack, Earth Guards! Return these fools to the dirt from which they arose!
The map is updated. Images of the two new warriors have been added to the FB group.

Uldar Aren |
