Bryce moves to G-18, and examines the door to the tower. Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (17) + 10 = 27. I do not see any visible traps. He cautiously tries the door, and it opens stiffly on rusted hinges.
Inside the tower base the floor is covered in rubble, bits of broken stone and pieces of lumber that have fallen from the upper level. A few old bones lie scattered about as well.

Garm Stoutsole |

I scramble to keep up with Velcore.
Judging from this debris, whoever lives here isn't much concerned about cleanliness.
No computer until saturday. Hopefully the power where I live will be back on. At parents for xmas. Can't seem to find a way to view the map from my phone yet but posts seem to be just fine.

Hard to see a PDF on a phone. I imagine we shall all slow down here as we get closer to the holiday.

[dice=Knowledge Arcana]1d20+5 to learn the source and properties of magic. (I'm guessing it's the silver thing.)
You would need to know what the object(s) are that are emiting magic auras by casting Detect Magic to learn about them. In other words, Detect Magic + the Knowledge Arcana skill work together in this particular situation. Also, I have you on a map position outside the wall, so please specify a map coordinate where you are standing.

Velcore Valiantheart |

Velcore will move into the tower walking slowly on and around the rubble. Velcore scans the walls and ceiling looking for anything out of place. Perception: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5 "Lite my path Iomedae" Velcore cast light on his sword.

![]() |

Didn't Kalizama cast it? Or do I remember it wrong?
She did cast it, and the knowledge of any specifics are hers alone to know, unless she shares the specifics. She acknowledged the presence of magical auras, but did not state anything else.

Velcore carefully enters the tower while looking around, and he casts the Light spell on his sword. The interior of the tower brightens, and reveals a scattering of silver and other coins amid the rubble at the back of the tower. There also appears to be a metallic box partially visible, peeking up from under one of the boards laying in the rubble. Velcore looks around, to see if anything is "out of place." As he makes his way toward the rear of the tower, a sticky web suddenly drops down and entangles him!
ROLL FOR INITIATIVE! The map is updated.

Velcore Valiantheart |

Velcore Initiative 1d20 ⇒ 13

Eric Utherson |

initiative: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (6) + 4 = 10
once he knows something is wrong, Eric will spend a full round running toward the danger, I think that will put him at J17 or I16 whichever is tacticly better

Bryce Sidanris |

"The cleric is scouting?" Just as he asks the question, he readies his scimitar.
Cursing slowly under his breath, Bryce feels a rush of adrenaline foretelling the coming battle, mixed with a sting of shame. Still he manages to respond: "It was my mistake Trane, it will not happen again."
Damn my greed! If I was not blinded by the silver, I would have seen the creature!
Bryce moves few steps back, readies his crossbow and awaits the target to show itself.
Inititive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17
5 foot step to H17, ready action - attack first enemy with crossbow

![]() |

Initiative Order:
Group 1: Trane and Bryce
Group 2: The Creature
Group 3: Velcore, Elmo, Cananthir, Kalizama, Eric, Garm and Rafael
Round 1
Group 1: Trane and Bryce – go for it!
Bryce: If you are waiting for the creature to show itself, you can delay until that moment. That will move you down the initiative sequence however, to Group 3.

Bryce Sidanris |

Bryce looks around, searching for a potential target. That web had to come from somewhere...or from something!
Here's a Perception check to see if I can notice the creature(s) on my initiative. If it fails, I guess that it means I act at a later stage (group 3 ini) Perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (3) + 10 = 13
After (finally) noticing the creature(s) attacking the priest, Bryce takes careful aim and fires a bolt at it from close range, hoping his marksman skills has improved since the last encounter.
x-bow attack: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
Potential dmg: 1d8 ⇒ 2
I guess that since the spider already attacked, this does not constitute a sneak attack, right?

1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Bryce scans the interior of the tower, but he is unable to see anything to shoot at. Action delayed, go to Group 3.
Chandra quickly rushes into the tower to G-19, and while not able to visually see the creature she is able to locate it by scent! She jumps and snaps at it, causing 6 points of damage!
Trane: Perception check please, and ending coordinate position.

![]() |

Trane follows behind Chaandra but he is unable to see what she is attacking. Am placing you in H-18 right behind her.
Group 2: Creature
Those who can see through the tower door are aghast as a spider as big as a man crawls down the webbing and 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4 tries to bit Velcore, but his struggling motions in the web causes it to miss! The creature is so large that Velcore's head and shoulders are covered by its mass as it lands on him!
Group 3:
Bryce, Velcore, Elmo, Cananthir, Kalizama, Eric, Garm and Rafael - go for it!
Velcore - you are Entangled in the web. You can try to escape with a Strength check or an Escape Artist check, at a -4 penalty. An entangled creature moves at half speed, cannot run or charge, and takes a –2 penalty on all attack rolls and a –4 penalty to Dexterity. If you attempt to cast a spell you must make a concentration check (DC 15 + spell level) or lose the spell.

Eric Utherson |

Eric moves to either G-19 oh H-19 where ever he can better attack the spider attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (10) + 5 = 15 for damage: 2d6 + 10 ⇒ (4, 2) + 10 = 16
"I'm going to be honest, Pa had a recipe for giant spider legs, but we always thought he joking, and I'm just not eating this here thing."

Garm Stoutsole |

That is a very large arachnid. I wonder what species it is?
I shake my head.
There will be time enough for entomology later. Focus Garm, focus!
Velcore, the light of Iomedae burns brightly within you! Do not let such a small creature snuff that light out!
I use Inspire Courage. +1 to Attack and Damage and on saves vs. Fear.
I make a Perception check to scan the area behind us for possible enemies that might try to use this as an opportunity to attack.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (14) + 6 = 20

Velcore Valiantheart |

Velcore steps deeper into the ruined tower(giving room for help to move thru the doorway)and raises his shield and uses his longsword to keep the creature at bay.
Using Total Defense to give Velcore 19 AC (which includes the -2 for DEX lost) Velcore will move to 21- F or 20- E

![]() |

Eric and Cananthir hear the commotion and hurry to the southwest, drawing their weapons.
If you make a double move in a round, you cannot attack.
Garm begins an inspirational soliloquy that raises the courage of all who hear it!
Velcore manages to clamber 5 feet through the webbing and rubble, and adopts a defensive posture to protect himself!
The map is updated. Bryce, Elmo, Kalizama, and Rafael still have turns.

Eric Utherson |

yeah looking over the thread I see that I lost track of what round it was. That attack and single move would happen in round two, at the end of round one I'm15 to 20 feet away from the spider

![]() |

Bryce sees the spider drop down from the upper tower, and snaps a shot at it with his crossbow, but in his haste the aim is off and he misses.
Kalizama moves aside to give the fighters more room to maneuver...
Elmo looks at the crowd around the entrance to the tower door, then looks down at his giant size, and shrugs. I can't fit in there, you guys go in and deal with that beast.
Rafael's turn will end this round.

![]() |

Elmo: Come with me, Kalizama and Raphael...this isn't our fight. The others can handle it. He moves north to make more space available for the fighters.
Raphael, post your actions when you are available. We're moving onward...
Round 2
Group 1: Trane, your turn.
The map is updated.

Chaandra |

Chaandra erupts in a flurry of teeth and claws.
Full round attack if allowed.
claw1: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (19) + 4 + 1 = 241d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 + 1 = 8
claw2: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 4 + 1 = 221d6 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
bite: 1d20 + 4 + 1 ⇒ (18) + 4 + 1 = 231d4 + 1 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 + 1 = 5
After her success she looks at her human companion with smug superiority all over her face.
