Hahahahaha. Des could use that; she does not see the dark perfectly fine. :)
XD
...Uh oh.
The shadows are absolutely about to make Des' life really, really hard. XD
Des, eventually: "I KNEW IT THE DARKNESS IS EVIL AND IT'S OUT TO GET ME"
Ma'am this is a Wendy's

I'm going with a list based on your Knowledge check roll rather than having PCs pick what they want to know, adapted from this blog post. I'll have Broom's results up in the next IC post.

Reine de Colère |

Just regarding the confusion thing:
"A confused creature who can’t carry out the indicated action does nothing but babble incoherently."
The roll of 51-75 results in "Deal 1d8 points of damage + Str modifier to self with item in hand."
If there is no item in hand, there's nothing to do damage with, I'd say - or at least, not permanent damage. Reine? With her claws? Absolutely can do damage. Everyone else, I'd say either does NL damage (punching self, say), or babbles.
But that's just me. :-)
Further Rationale: It's a trade-off. Reine (or other characters with claws) is always armed, so she gets to make AoOs, and doesn't provoke AoO's when bare-handed, and does lethal damage to Bad Guys with said bare hands. Other characters without claws/spiked gauntlets, etc. don't get those advantages, BUT on the other hand *ahem*, they can't do lethal damage to themselves, either.

Whew! No gouged-out eyes this time! :D Thanks, GM!

FYI, a Gibbering Mouther killed John's uncle and no one believed John when he told the story.
All this sent him into a spiral of despair that led him to leave home and how he ended up in Thrushmore.
Being face to face with one and getting eaten in the lake probably isn't good for his mental state.

Reine de Colère |

Reine has some Mouther baggage, too, though mostly from bad dreams (Foe of the Strange)... Either way, I don't think *anyone* is gonna call this a good time.

Reine de Colère |

Well, with the dice roller giving us results like that, it's clear that John must have killed it while breaking out, or it's completely out of range of the rest of us, and all of those attacks were completely wasted.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Daaaaang! Good thing we have some bruisers in the party! XD
Desdemona's just over here, cosplaying Bloody Mary... XD XD XD

karlprosek |

I frickin love Broom "...from the mouther's point of view." lol! You guys are a scary bunch. Desdemona's not going to be any less scary walking around with self-inflicted scratch marks on her face.
John, I didn't realize the monster that ate the uncle in your backstory was a gibbering mouther! Man that's gotta be a kick in the head. Yeesh.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

So a woman enraged to the point of combustion, a bloodless man with a Big Sword, a dual-doctor with rubbery, acidic Things sticking out of her wrists, and a woman with no face left and no shadow walk into a bar... XD
The Golarion Ghostbusters are gonna come after us.

Reine de Colère |

Also, am I the only one appreciating the irony of Broom being all fascinated with Xander's ability to heal people, and being frustrated that she did't know how to fix people the way she can fix things... and she's the "doctor" who used... well... you know....?

karlprosek |

I love how Broom is like "I can't imagine what I would have used this wand that sucks the life force out of people to power magic for."
I also kind of think that John might be the craziest out of the whole group, just based on how well he accepts all the insane and terrible stuff that happens to him.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

It's always the quiet / martial ones... XD

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Psst, Broom - just thought I'd mention that I left you a message! :)

Grimm John |

They shouldn't have let us off the island.

If anyone's interested, I'm starting a level 6 Kingmaker game. I think most of you already know about this but I figured I'd post this here, too. I'm reaching out to players I already know before I open up general recruitment; anybody who plays in this game is guaranteed a slot.
This is the Discussion thread, if you're interested. Level 6, 25 point buy. There's a ton of setting information, NPCs, and game history on the game's Obsidian Portal page.
This game is set in the existing duchy of Veteris, starting after the events of Kingmaker adventure 1 Stolen Land. Kingdom roles are filled with NPCs and the PC party will not interact with the kingdom building mechanics; those decisions will happen off-screen. The PCs will take on the role of problem solvers for the existing NPC decision makers.
This setting is influenced by 2 prior campaigns, in which the kingdom was established and pivotal events already happened. In addition to the events of Stolen Land, the previous parties adventured through: Into the Haunted Forest, parts of Tales of the Old Margreve, Flight of the Red Raven, and Carnival of Tears. This party will likely also face the challenges of adventures outside the Kingmaker adventure path.
The kingdom was established 5 years ago, in game. In that time the kingdom's 2 primary cities have swelled to several thousand residents, becoming small cities in a short time, and has become a power surpassing both Mivon and Pitax in a very short time. This has upended the historical balance of power in both Brevoy and the eastern River Kingdoms.
Veteris aligned itself with House Lebeda and Restov, creating a belt of resistance along Brevoy's southern flank. 2 years ago, togther they fought and survived a short lived war against House Surtova with support from Houses Orlovsky and Lodovka. Surtova is not broken, however, and while all parties have left the field everyone anticipates further hostilities.
If you're interested, cool! If not, also cool, no worries. Thanks for reading this long-ass post. :)

I don't know enough to understand what you wrote above. I've never played in it or read it.
If I can figure out a backstory for a character that works for me, then I would be interested.

Reine de Colère |

She had a second shirt. Who knew?
Also, I almost fell out of my chair at the MM or WW thing. Broom giving Winter those two wands would be...interesting.

Mashiki Malbourne |

All the characters are outstanding, just wanted to mention that this is my favourite pbp group. Thanks to everyone for making this an enjoyable game =)
Did we figure out what was on that scroll?

Grimm John |

Shopping List:
Masterwork spiked guantlet
Masterwork Breastplate
Composite Longbow (+4)
Need to sell off:
+1 Heavy Steel Shield

Aside from the soul staining, for out of combat healing the infernal wand is superior to the cure light wound wand. A guaranteed 10 hp with every casting. It just takes a minute to work so not as good for in combat healing.
I think I have marked everything that is being held by Broom, but not claimed by anyone.

Mashiki Malbourne |

Des wouldn't want to sell the books and Broom wouldn't want to sell the weird nick-knacks. Its probably best he went alone or we might not have had anything to actually sell.

Reine de Colère |

Ha!
Reine's still got some weird things in her pack, if Broom needs them. :-) Goblin jerkey, anyone?

Desdemona Elisabeth |

It's been a long day and I'm beat, but I'll try to get a post up tomorrow, if you want to wait - otherwise, Broom can feel free to initiate the interrogation. XD

Reine de Colère |

For the record, a 21 Performance check is a "great performance. In a prosperous city, you can earn 3d10 sp/day. In time, you may be invited to join a professional troupe and may develop a regional reputation."
So she isn't causing crowds of people to spontaneously weep, but she ain't an American Idol reject, either.

Grimm John |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

You've already got a regional reputation

Mashiki Malbourne |

I have a Curse of the Crimson Throne game that has lost its GM and two players. If anyone is interested in having a look, here is the link.
We are focusing on securing a GM at the moment if anyone is interested. Otherwise when we get a GM I can reserve a spot for anyone who would like to join us.

Mashiki Malbourne |

Priestess Mavaine is the priestess from the church here that went missing after the Count tried to pressure her into getting the church to do stuff for him free of charge. She reacted badly to the requests and then disappeared.
Iris Hill is the Count's personal residence currently run by Koro. The Count is away and Koro dismissed all the staff.
Fort Hailcourse used to be run by Magistrate Padgett, but he is "away" and the fort is currently run by Constable Cesyll. The original mercenaries that served as the militia have all deserted due to lack of pay, but there is still activity in the fort. The Agency operatives went missing investigating the fort.
Were we given a reason that we couldn't go directly to Iris Hill or the Fort? I can't see anything obvious but I thought there was some reason that we needed to wait a bit for the agency to do something or another before we went to either of those places which is why we were investigating the town. Did we have to prove ourselves by solving these other mysteries first?

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Thanks!
I thought we were waiting because the fort sounds well-guarded, and we're gathering intel and info we might be able to use to talk our way in? I don't know about Iris Hill.
On a metagame level, it wouldn't suck if we could manage to level before tackling the fort, which I feel like might be a tough nut to crack!

Mashiki Malbourne |

Getting a little meta-gamy, it could be that we are expected to investigate the other mysteries which will give us clues to help with the fort and/or Iris hill, or more clues as to the bigger picture.
Right now though, it does seem that the Fort is the main point of interest since there might be investigators who are still alive that need to be rescued. There might even be a chance that we find all people who have gone missing locked up in there.

karlprosek |

You were told that the Sleepless Agency was turned away from Iris Hill and they suspect whoever's at Fort Hailcourse captured or killed a royal inquisitor, his entourage, and a few Sleepless Detectives.
I think the only other things you've been told about but haven't investigated are the glowing figure who drifts through town at night and/or a cave north of town that a fisherman reported seeing a light in. They may or may not be related, you don't know.
