Does that end the first book?
Two and a half years to finally kill that guy! At least he's gone.
Has it been that long? Only 12 ish more years until we are finished!

Grimm John |

To be fair, Broom does a lot of talking to people who aren't there, and John's paranoid to begin with.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

The party is actually composed of the only people who belonged at the asylum as patients. XD

Reine de Colère |

Heh. I'm sure Reine would resent that implication, though said resentment wouldn't necessarily make it untrue...

Reine de Colère |

I think parts of our memories already started to come back when we found the files. But yeah, if the mists lifting also bring back more memories, that could be cool.
And I agree that collecting the drawings and investigating/looting Zandalus' room and body might be worth doing as well. We never got a chance to do that.
Then find Winter.
I'm not sure we should be trying to just release all of the asylum's residents and patients on an unsuspecting world, however. I mean, not us, but those other people? Clearly, they need help.
Even the folks who weren't originally patients, they probably are going to need some counseling at some point...

karlprosek |

Actually, no. From the records, the PCs were able to learn their names, that they were associates of someone named Count Haserton Lowls, who brought them here as amnesiacs, and some basic information about themselves. You're free to have had this trigger more memories about your early years, but the last few years of the PCs' lives are still blank.

Grimm John |

That'll be a chore, but it is needed.

Grimm John |

I did some cleanup on the loot sheet.
I don't plan on John keeping the +1 shield. That was just a temporary measure to boost his AC.
A side note, John can cast ranger spells now and cure light wounds is on his list. If we can find a wand when we get to Thrushmore, that would help a lot in the healing department.

Reine de Colère |

I don't think we should divvy up the loot in front of Winter and/or the other survivors. It might be in bad taste. After all, they're all probably going to struggling to survive now, as refugees and whatnot.
I'll update/level Reine this weekend.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Did Des ever ID her rose-glowing dagger? I don't recall. :/
Spellcraft on dagger, lvl.4: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

Desdemona Elisabeth |

I'm waiting on the possible ID of the dagger to update the profile, but here are the changes I've noted:
Desdemona shadow caller/paracosmist 4
+1 to CHA
+6 hps (assuming the average is 4+1, not 4+1+houserule 1)
2 spells (detect thoughts and invisibility)
+6 skill points to 5 of her 6 existing skills (all except K:religion), and +1 to Diplomacy
+1 BAB
+1 to Will
Bond senses (Su) 4/4
Shield ally (Ex)
Itzaldeimos level 4 (shadow base type, psychopomp subtype)
+7 hps (1 from fcb - assuming the average is 5+1, not 5+1+houserule 1)
Max. attacks 4
+1 evolution point (due to feat that treats pool as 1 level higher)
scent evolution
+6 skill points to existing skills (Linguistics: suggest a language?)
cold and electricity resistance 10

Reine de Colère |

+1 to Dex (18)
+6 Skill Points (Autohypnosis, Acrobatics, Climb, Intimidate, Perception, Stealth)
+2 Background SP (Perform: Sing, Perform: Ukulele)
+1 BAB (+3 total)
+1 Will and Ref Saves
+1 Max Power Level Known (2)
+2 PP/Day (10)
+1 Power Known (True Terror)
New Terror (Mindlock)
+1 Dmg to DT
+1 Terror Use/Day (8)
+5hp (like Des, assuming 4+1 for d8)

Reine de Colère |

A few notes regarding the loot list:
1) Why is Reine carrying the Pearl of Power? She doesn't cast spells, and a quick search of the posts doesn't show anywhere that Karl indicated that Pearls of Power work for psionic Powers (Though I have a vague idea he did, somewhere? - it appears that the Search function won't pick up anything under a Spoiler tag, so maybe it was in one of those? Either way, I'm not going to go looking at every spoiler tag to see). So if one of you spell slingers wants it, she's cool to give it up. It's a Level 1.
2) Reine's Amulet of NA is +2 (post #1938), so I updated the loot list.
3) Broom is carrying a lot of stuff in her Haversack. We should probably find a place to sell that stuff. :-)
4) If no one else wants it Reine will take the ring
5) You missed the +1 war razor (I added it to the list) Reine does better without weapons now (other than ranged), so doesn't really need it. Probably a fit for Broom or Des, or worth selling.
6) I *think* Des' dagger came from outside of this game/the previous incarnation of the game, so I have NO IDEA what it is or whether she did an Identify on it. The first time it gets mentioned is during the Decapus fight (#839), when Karl mentions that she has it.
7) Just realized that we had some silver daggers that might've been helpful (except that we'd have all dropped them and ran, likely). But I like the way John's longsword worked out, so probably a moot point.
8) Reine doesn't want the Heavy shield, but if we could sell it (and the razor, maybe?) for a set of bracers or something that doesn't give her an ACP (even a masterwork/magical light shield would probably work), that would be cool. Though, she *does* have the best AC in the group, so if someone else wants the magic shield (or whatever we might eventually be able to replace it with) that's totally cool, too.

Mashiki Malbourne |

Des or John can use the pearl as they are both prepared casters.
I think there is a different version for spontaneous casters and for psionic characters there are items that store points resulting in a similar effect.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Summoners aren't prepared casters, so it looks like John's going to wear the pearl at our next engagement. ;)
I suppose Des could use the war razor?

Grimm John |

Just a personal thing, but I wouldn't use the Tatterman's war razor.
John can use the Pearl of Power.
John will get an animal companion later.

Desdemona Elisabeth |

An excellent point, IC glasses on. CurrentDes wouldn't want to touch it. She'd be leery about selling it, too - maybe we could give it to a good church and get a "finder's reward" for evil items? Just a fluff difference, if the DM allows it.

Reine de Colère |

Do we try to open the lockbox again before going back to the chapel? Or stuff it in Broom's Haversack?

Reine de Colère |

Yes, the worst was behind them.
You see this? This right here? This is how TPKs happen....

Reine de Colère |

Personally, I think it could be VERY interesting to see what their reactions would be to the pictures in our heads... And Broom could quite possibly get Reine on her side about the incense if she points out that the incense might let the party learn what Meg and Co. "know" about them and aren't telling...

Reine de Colère |

Moving this week. Bot if needed. Mostly, she's listening, trying to gain whatever scraps of info she can, and trigger any memories possible.

Mashiki Malbourne |

Looking even paler than usual, Broom shook her head from her seat. "No, of course not. You're not part of the Accuser's group. If you went up to Fort Hailcourse now they'd just turn you away."
I'm assuming it was Winter talking an not Broom , but given the nature of the campaign I wasn't 100% sure that Broom didn't just slip into a different persona and speak up =)
also
Despite my burning desire to do so, I will refrain from having Broom look up at Wrentz with big puppydog eyes and ask "Are We the Baddies?" =D

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Sorry I'm a little slow to respond, I'm dealing with a bit of a family crisis and I'm afk often during the day. If I'm holding anything up, it's fine to bot Des, DM. She's angry, but in a very proper way, LOL.

Reine de Colère |

To clarify, Reine wasn't issuing a challenge. She was specifically letting Wrentz know that she was being agreeable, without appreciating Wrentz's commanding tone. :-)

Reine de Colère |

Has Broom been cleaning us off while we're not looking? :D
I would not be surprised, actually. Though that would weaken her argument with Wrentz...

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Broom is so adorable, I love her. XD

Mashiki Malbourne |

Any time we have rested, unless asked not to Broom has been cleaning and mending everyone's clothes and equipment.
If there has been a particularly messy fight, she has offered to clean people immediately.
But she was distracted by everything that was happening after the tatterman fight and it didn't seem to be a particularly messy fight so she hasn't done any cleaning since last time we rested.

Grimm John |

So:
(1) Investigate town, trade gear, get stared at by locals who think we're bad guys, look for rumors on disappearances
(2) Investigate Fort
(3) Look for disappeared people/ Briarstone witch

Desdemona Elisabeth |

Is (3) the Briarstone Witch Project? :D
Des would like to get permission to open up the bookshop, but if Wrentz can't (or won't) grant that, she isn't above asking John to break a window and open the door for her.
Hey, she can't do that! She is a Lady. *sniff*
If for some reason John's against that, she'll go poke about herself and see what can be done to get in.
The moment she leaves the bright lights of the parlor, though, she gets distracted by shadow-paranoia again.
Des is quite interested in the story of the Briarstone Witch after hearing the Tatterman was supposed to be her servant. She may vote to investigate that as well as they can before going to the fort, reasoning that they're in town right now anyway.

Grimm John |

John is trying to break this thug image, and now you want him to pick locks for you.
We can add the bookshop to our shopping expedition around town.
John's still working through if he's a good guy or a bad guy.

Mashiki Malbourne |

We could go check out the pier and come back. Both places are pretty near each other.
The workers are busy filling boxes and while they might wander by the desk area, their work doesn't seem to involve anything around the secret door. And the door and its switch is fairly well hidden, we might be ok leaving them to their work and coming back later.

Grimm John |

It's a good thing those guys weren't in a union.
They might have gotten upset at Broom taking their jobs.

Reine de Colère |

Wait... did Reine just actually do/say something that makes BOTH Broom AND Des happy?
Dude... some poor bad guy's gonna hafta get their face ripped off to balance the Karmic scales here...
