Unfortunately, I am. I'm attending my states AFL-CIO Convention yesterday, today, and tomorrow which consists of speakers in the morning and committee meetings in the afternoon and I just haven't found time to update anything just yet.
I'm all for keeping the ship to ship combat system in if you feel you want to keep it otherwise we can chuck it.

Hi everyone - I am posting this to all my games: unfortunately these past few days have not been easy, and only now I had the time to post anything at all. I have a close one in my family who is sick, and we have been in and out of hospitals and other doctor appointments non-stop.

I am not really sure when this will be sorted, but I am hoping it will happen soon... Maybe by the end of next week. I will try to keep you updated as I can.

SO I ran a ship building wargame for some friends for like 2 to 3 months, it was all homebrew and the like but as for ship to ship combat I think the best way to run things if give each person a small part to add bonuses to the overall thing take for instance

Pilot of the ship does the main role

Ashlei was up high in the rigging perhaps give her a perception check to see if she can discern the others ships actions

Herzog is relaying orders Diplomacy or intimidation to get the most out of them.

It can be a higher dc, its more of a bonus action and something to do that may help than a penalty if the roll is low, though you can make it where really bad rolls penalize the ship.

Of course our morale boosting first mate can be up here singing . . .

Gunnery - or he could be down here singing.

Whoever is the overall gun control captain (I think rosie)

I would probably always be with the 'guns' engineering check maybe to add a bonus to the shots.

As for the way the actions just a simple opposed shiphandling checks the winner advances a step. ultimately as Pirates we want to catch the ship and either force it to surrender or board it and force it to surrender thats thats always the ultimate go a simple stages system works best.

Like for instance we start at 0, every winning check puts us one closer to the goal. so like 4 consecutive wins and we succed in boarding, four consecutive losses... you get the idea

and It could easily be down in one posting if need be, we could all post like say six checks at once and just abjucate the actions downwards, if things dont get checked out in that first six, we post another six, because like I said the end goal in most of our encounters is going to be boarding the other ship... or fleeing entirely... running gun battles on the high seas is a movie thing, if we are outmatched we are going to run.

Eeeesh, complicated last couple of weeks people... Still not out of the woods yet, but I think I can start slowly getting back to it.

I know a few PBP GMs I would not mind inviting to see if they wish to pick our game up and run with it, however beyond that I have never run a recruitment before.

I guess I can put it up. I've had luck with recruiting a GM before. If you know a couple good people by all means see if they'll be up for it.

Ahoy mateys, Welcome to the fevered seas

I expect very regular posting. Now this doesn't mean you have to pipe up if there's no reason for your character to do something, but when I'm calling for an action I expect a response. You should be checking in at least daily so combats can proceed (unless I am given warning). I prefer to keep things moving.

I run a more beer and pretzel style game than deep roleplaying. I will tend to run things with plenty of smartass comments and out of genre references. That's just fair warning.

So It looks like we have a Witch, Cleric, Wrestler, Fighter and a Bard. Nice party mix. I usually play with a boatload(get it) of houserules, but for the sake of our sanity we can stick to good old fashioned by the rules PF. Unless you see anything you like in my profile

Speaking of Rules, As a rule, I tend to play RAI rather than RAW. There will be exceptions of course and we can't always tell what RAI is supposed to be. More importantly, I may change a rule now and then for the story. The story is what is important, the story that the players and I are writing together. If the story conflicts with a rule now and then, I'm likely to modify or ignore the rule for that instance. However, the rules are there so we all know what to expect out of the environment, so it will not happen with any frequency.

If and when I make a mistake with the rule, please do not hesitate to correct me. I have no problem with it.

Any character you guys have made is fine, no changes needed unless you want to change/tweak them.

It looks as if you were in the middle of combat. Can I assume you have been to Rickety's Squib and are in combat with the "Famished Mane"?

As far as the NPC attitude helper/loot list/plunder/infamy extra stuff. I personally don't care for additional mechanics, there are more than enough in PF for me so...

NPC attitudes/ infamy are determined by how you interact with them at the time i.e. You give me a good speech and/or if that isn't your forte tell me what you are trying to get across along with a roll and we'll go from there.(Hint) if one of you is a diplomancer, I'll generally work with you to make it happen, particularly if it's funny and leaves opportunity for mayhem to happen.

Well Ashlei is not a Diplomancer on purpose...but she can do a lot of charisma type stuff. Especially if it is Smart/Sexy/Funny. That's her 'Alley' so-to-speak. Not always 'wise' however. She knows how to 'buckle her swash', if you know what I mean, and probably has a tendency to try too hard...

I think the GM intended to have maps (and has done so in the past) but I'm fairly new and have yet to be involved with the maps in this game yet. Most of my other PBP Gms use Google and similar. I have just never used Roll20 before myself.

We've done Roll20 maps in the past for this game. This was before Ashlei joined. I think Roll20 is not the best because it's blocked for some people. I agree I've seen a lot of Google being used in other games. I admit I'm not familiar with how to set any of these up.

My Kingmaker GM uses Google Presentation to pretty good effect.

Kingmaker Maps

The main thing is making sure all the players have permission to move things in the documents.

Another GM uses Google Spreadsheets just as easily.

As long as we get to continue, I don't mind.

You will just need to describe combat carefully or leave us some leeway when we make decisions in combat so that we aren't make huge mistakes in terrain or positioning. Correct?
