Yhen curses the woman as Mandrak gets up on the table and launches at her, like something out of a wrestling match. Luckily for him though the tactic proves solid and the woman is caught by surprise - going down under a hail of blows - in just moments Grimaldus joins the dogpile and it is all over.
A quick search of their gear reveals:
* potion of cure light wounds x3
* potion of cure Moderate wounds x1
* scroll of obscuring mis
* masterwork rapier,
* masterwork dagger
Looking quickly into the room in the north confirms it is a kitchen, and the inhabitants store, cook, and serve their food here. Both rooms are impeccably clean and orderly and you find fresh water and food here.
Things are quiet again.

...and he's off the top rope! Ooohhh...that's gotta hurt!!
After fully clearing the room to ensure there are no other hostiles, Grim studies the pile of loot and asks to carry one of the healing potions. Just in case someone else needs it...you know...

"Looks like the only way is across the hall. If the door is locked and the goblins start shooting at us we'll have to go to plan B...Either I go first to open the door because I'm armored, or someone else tries to quietly check the door...thoughts?"

![]() |

Kishara slumps a bit weakly, "I'm going to need another potion or something before moving forward." She pats Grimaldus on his heavily armored shoulder. "How about you go first this time, big guy? I feel like an alley cat on her last life..."
Perception on door: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (3) + 9 = 12
Can Kish have the cure moderate if Kaneko needs to save her healing or is already out?

![]() |

Seeing no objections to her quaffing the larger of the healing potions, she downs the brew and takes a knee before the doors.
Kishara pulls out her tools and sets to work on the lock, making quick work of it. Once she's satisfied she has accomplished the job, she rolls her tools up in their leather wrappings but holds them ready to use again and moves back from the doors speaking quietly to her comrades. "I have another smokestick, or there's that scroll to provide us cover to the end of the hall. What do you all think?"
Potion of CMW: 2d8 + 1 ⇒ (4, 4) + 1 = 9 (Is there anymore bonus from the caster level?)
Disable Device: 1d20 + 8 + 2 ⇒ (17) + 8 + 2 = 27

![]() |

Ok, clarify what door we're talking about, I thought you were saying the doors to the hall was locked. Is someone speaking from the hall? Or is Kish supposed to the be one in the hall?

![]() |

Ok, I suppose we'll proceed. Did I roll the CMW right? It's a 2nd level spell, so was hoping it was should add a few more points. =D
With Grim to provide cover, Kish readies her tools and signals to Grim that they must try to be quiet by pressing her finger against her lips and then his in a "shush" gesture.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15
Figured you'd use the same disable roll.
Bluff: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (20) + 4 = 24

I thought there was a locked portcullis in the hall blocking us from the room closest to the entrance, so I was thinking we were going straight across the hall, but I happily defer to wherever the GM thinks we should go... =D

** spoiler omitted **
OK invoking a little Scooby-Doo to get us up to speed then...
Kishara looks both ways then quietly crosses the hall from the yard.
She checks the first portcullis (West) as she passes, and notes that while it is shut, it has not been locked.
She moves to the first unchecked door and finds it too is unlocked - opening it quietly to look inside she finds a room well cleaned and containing weapon crates stored in a neat and orderly fashion.
Doubling back around she determines that the second (East) portcullis is locked, though she stays well away from it - knowing it was the likely area the sounds of yelling were heard from earlier - and he checks the other door, which is locked.
In moments she passes the lock and moves inside, finding herself facing an entryway; a set of double doors on the opposite wall and two single doors in the east and west walls.
Calling the part to within range she starts working on the locked double doors. A voice comes from the far side "Who's there?", Kish freezes a moment before quickly replying "Just us, thought we heard something. Everything all right?" in a pitch perfect imitation of the clawed womans voice.
"Yes, thanks, but I have a lot of papers here please don't disturb" and she now hears the soft swish of papers being leafed.

![]() |

Upon hearing the response, Grim nods at Kish to keep going on that door. He stands just to the side, ready to block the way if the person behind the voice tries to come out of the door.

![]() |

Kishara nearly laughs aloud at the success of her ruse, but stifles the chuckle quickly, smiling up at Grim with a wink and making a mental note to add "does impressions" to her resume.
She gestures to the party to get ready when she is close to breaching the room and continues to disable the lock, moving as quietly as possible, trying not to draw the attention of the occupant again. Once the door is unlocked, she steps aside to let Grim enter first, drawing her dagger.

Grimaldus quickly flows into the room, looking for the occupant and assessing his level of threat. If there is only the one person, he rapidly approaches with the greatsword leveled at his head - stopping an inch from the man's eye and whispering loud enough to be heard, "Not a sound...not a twitch...you just stay still and silent or I ensure you never move again..."

This office has a rug laid out on the floor over rotted carpet, two salvaged bookshelves, and a small desk with a simple wooden chair behind it.
The lone occupant in the room seated at the table scribing seems to get caught rather off guard as Grimaldus moves quickly across the room, sword drawn, uttering his demands and watching the fellows face.
"You got me, let's not be too hasty" the man replies evenly, he drops his quill and slowly raises his hands in surrender clearly recognising he is outmatched, but as he does you hear the sound of the portcullis opening to the east and the immediate cries of Goblins getting excited. He remains still.

Grimaldus has the man stand and put his hands on his head, then quickly ties them behind his back with his silk rope, securing the man's elbows and wrists, then quickly ties him to the chair. He grabs an old rag or piece of paper, wads it up, and shoves it in the man's mouth to act as a makeshift gag. Once he is secure, Grim will join the battle.

![]() |

"Sure thing, Yhen - unless you need me for the goblins..." If there is not a pressing need, Grim will search the man for weapons, keys, valuables, and anything else that may be of use.

![]() |

Hearing the Goblin's cries, Kish sized up their surroundings and decided to try the other doors. If she finds them locked, she tries to quickly unlock the one beside her, calling to her friends in the hall. Once the door is opened, she steps through and prepares to hide so she can ambush the goblins as they come through.

Nope - I would rather take a round or two to secure this guy than have him attack from behind. Plus, I am confident in my friends' ability to break the goblin assault!! I'll be wading into the fray soon enough! =)
