Auric Lightmane |

"Waiting here will only result in you being in an uncomfortable position if any ogres are trying to leave this way," Auric points out, "let's stay with the group- it will be solely up to you which, if any, ogres you engage in combat..."
With that he turns and quickly follows the others into the cave.

Nia'Nikta |

Nia'Nikta looked at Tania. "Hero's, are always like this in the stories at one time or other. Sorry you are enduring this now with them. Your goal will be completed in one fashion or another."
She nodded to her as she stepped in bringing the light further in as she looked for trouble.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9
But the arguments about the ogres being innocent or not distracted her.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Sakuro followed the others inside, staying towards the rear but trying to be close enough to cast various spells if they were suddenly needed. Grease, in particular, was proving to be quite a helpful option... big ogres, slippery floors, allies to pound on them when they went down... good stuff. Also, magic in general was something she just outright adored. "Sneaking, sneaking..."

![]() |

Just as you're getting to where it opens up, visible at the edge of elven vision are two eyes reflecting what dim light there is. With a snarl, a wolf the size of a pony becomes more visible in the shadows - stalking your way. It appears quite angry.
Initiative, please.
Init: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22

Jun Korter |

Jun says to Baldek, "I hope for a different outcome, but I need to go along. I was given these powers for a reason and I need to know why. For now I will let myself be carried on the wave of destiny. But in any case I would like you there in case things are not as clear cut as they seem."
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13

Auric Lightmane |

initiative: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (5) + 1 = 6
Auric weighs the implications of age and innocence and the potential for greater evil... the moral quandary leaves him slow to react to this new threat...
I don't know how anyone else feels, but I'm a big fan of the GM rolling initiative for everyone in the first combat post- it streamlines things a ton because we don't have a whole day of just waiting to determine the initiative order...

Reiko Arashi |

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
I am also for Eldon rolling Intiative
Reiko points his blade at the wolf.
Stand aside. We have no quarrel with you.
When the wolf doesn't, he shrugs at the group and says
Well, it was worth a try...
He then rushes forward to engage.

Antonio Nedraid |

Just missed the Init roll!
Antonio quickly dropped his crossbow into his hands and fired at the wolf.
light crossbow: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (5) + 6 = 11 for a possible 1d8 ⇒ 5 piercing damage.

![]() |

It is before its initiative, but the bolt slides off of the thick fur, just barely.
The wolf charges in and lunges for Reiko's throat!
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (7) + 7 = 14
Damage: 1d8 + 6 ⇒ (6) + 6 = 12
Keep in mind, you're still flat footed.
If it hits, it bears down for an attempted trip -
Trip: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (4) + 8 = 12

Reiko Arashi |

It doesn't hit because I'm holding my sword.

Nia'Nikta |

Nia'Nikta dropped her whip and drew her longsword as she stepped up and stabbed at the wolf's neck.
Longsword: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (14) + 4 = 18
Dmg: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
"Was doing no such thing." She grunts.
'This creature is magnificant and truly a beautifully dangerous thing. It is a shame to have to destroy such beauty but its better than dying.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Ranged Touch Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 - 4 = 2
Sakuro snapped out with a Ray of Frost... but in her haste, the ray just shot up and hit the ceiling instead of going anywhere even remotely close to the target. She cursed under her breath... but at least the others seemed to have things well in hand, and were steadily chopping away at it.

The wolf still stands, snarling through bloody lips. Its face has been split open from the axe, and it has a gouge in the chest from Nia's sword - it wavers, but holds strong, even after the force missile slams into it.

Reiko Arashi |

Reiko steps forward, and brings his katana down in a wide sweep behind the wolf's head, attempting to end the battle quickly.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (12) + 5 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

Antonio Nedraid |

Antonio hesitates, then nods.
"That's fine Nia. That's alright with me."
Having reloaded his crossbow, he looked up ahead at the intersections.
Carefully, he approached the larger one to the right.
Stealth: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28
Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19

Reiko Arashi |

Dire wolves. They can be extremely loyal companions when treated well and shown respect. These are the perfect age to raise as well, had we killed the mother. Good catch saving her Nia.
He looks at the pups once more, a small smile creeping onto his face.
Even in a place like this, innocence and family can be found. Perhaps one day I'll find something like that here....
After a glance at the mother to make sure she's stabilized, he follows Antonio, keeping a far enough distance back as to not interfere with his stealthy movement.

Auric Lightmane |

Amazing they can have so much sympathy for dire wolf cubs who were nearly orphaned but be so eager to slaughter orphaned ogrelings... Auric reflects as the events unfold around him. He continues to ponder it as he moves with Reiko to follow Antonio.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
For the first time in her life, Sakuro regretted that she'd never learned to deal with animals. Those puppies were far too cute, dangit! She glanced towards Auric a moment later, but he didn't seem inclined to kill the canines, and so she just turned back to them. "Um, I think I have some food in here..." she said, digging through her bags. "Is feeding them okay?"

Nia'Nikta |

Know:Nature: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
"I believe they are still drinking her milk. So feeding them would be bad." She said trying to dredge up what she knew of Dire Wolves.
'This world is strange indeed to see such noble creatures here. Then again many would want them killed or destroyed.' She looks at the others and lets them lead before turning to the mother and looking to see if there was any magical Aura's on her to denote magical influences.
Nia didn't join into the conversations about whether to kill or not kill them ^.^

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Sakuro nodded, taking Nia's advice on this subject and not bothering to ruffle through her bag any further. "I don't really know about raising animals anyway... but they'd be nice to sleep against during long trips..." Giant, furry canine friends, nice to her own friends and just a bit scary to everyone else... yeah, she liked that thought. Maybe she'd study a bit of animal handling if the opportunity presented itself.
