Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Perception: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5 Pfft. XD
"Let's go!" Sakuro cheered, apparently completely oblivious to the world around her. That happened rather often - but if nothing else, she hoped her companions knew they could count on her to support them as much as possible. She didn't cheer TOO loudly, though - excited or not, she wasn't that crazy. ...Yet.

Reiko Arashi |

Indeed they are... Perhaps... Antonio, could you sneak close enough to listen and find out what's going on?

![]() |

That point looks to be near the northern point on the road - a fairly dangerous place to encounter them, but only 50' or so north of where Antonio is hidden (and not much farther for the rest of you). Of course, the big issue is there's very little foliage to screen the road in that area. Too much happening there might be noticed by the rest of the ogres.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
"What's going on?" Sakuro asked softly, looking over at the others as their group slowly advanced forward and headed towards the enemy's camp. She was having a hard time looking past all the plant life today...

Antonio Nedraid |

A dwarf hunh? Antonio thought to himself. Good bet he's not with the ogres then...
Then something caught his eye.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (19) + 6 = 25
Antonio leapt from concealment, grabbed the dwarf and yanked him back into concealment with him.
CMB vs Grapple: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7
Stealth: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
He put his finger against the dwarf's lips.
"Shhh! Ogres inbound!" He whispered to him.

Antonio Nedraid |

Antonio changes his mind about grabbing the dwarf, and so remains hidden. The ogres seem to be fixating on the little guy, so now he plans to let the ogres pass and then take them from behind.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Sakuro nodded slightly, following behind Tania as best she could and trying to avoid attracting the attention of big, nasty creatures. She was, well, rather less than fond of the idea of getting crushed into a pulp.
Stealth: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
...And rather bad at being stealthy.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
"Running, running, running!" Sakuro moved as quickly as she could - which was surprisingly well, actually, given her tendency towards light burdens and the excellent motivation that the massive monsters provided.

Bad-Luck Baldek |
Why did I have to sell them!?
In retrospect, it had been a good day.
A day to give thanks for... is what strangely comes to Baldek's mind as he rubs his scarred neck absentmindedly. The man was nice enough to provide me with a mount and some leather. Even a spear!
He drops to a crouch and stops.
Silence...
"The road can be filled with no-gooders!" I said "Let me scout ahead and warn you. I'm your guard, after all!" he reminisces as he takes in the scene.
No birds singing...
Then a rustle of leaves.
Why did I have to sell them!?
From the corner of his eye, he can make the massive shape of the monstrous ogre, bloated and ecstatic, ready for the kill. Ready for worse.
He prays, quickly, for the ogres to be after another poor soul, but his prayer, again, had gone unanswered. He was the fool in the middle of the road.
Why did I have to sell them!?
Good horse, good leather, and a good spear, all sold the moment he left his mark for his 'scouting duty' to the first traveling merchant he passed...
"WHY DID I HAVE TO SELL THEM!!!" he yells as a battle cry as he launches forward, hurtling towards the crossroad.

Bad-Luck Baldek |
The ogres turn in unison when neither Tania nor Sakuro is particularly quiet. This is unusual for Tania. (The ogres have +5 Perception.)
Tania throws her arms up in desperation, then runs for the road. Run, dwarf, but know that I'm your ally!
Baldek's eyes fill with gods-loving tears of joy as he hears a voice: I'm glad I won't be the only one roasting my dear lass! I'll keep running, but promise to kill me before they catch me!!"

Reiko Arashi |

Reiko focuses for the barest of moments, and his katana begins to glow with that same red light. He then sprints after Tania, the blade held in two hands in an overhead position, ready to come down on a foe.

Jun Korter |

Jun walks down the road, his twisted leg aching in pain. "I know better than to walk this far and this fast. I should have gotten a horse or found a wagon to ride in"
He knew his friends were out here somewhere, though he might just pass them by if his luck ran bad, but since his accident his luck never ran bad, ironic as that was. Up to this point he had to learn things by trial and error, but Alyra could help make sense of it all.
He keeps his eyes and ears peeled before drifting back into thought. Preparing the village's defenses against the ogres were finally complete. "Who were the strange men looking for Doran and why did he flee without his axe?" Jun shifts his weight and rolls his shoulders verifying that axe was still there on his back, even if he already knew it was still there. "Not much good it will do me, but it may help someone else." Jun's training in weapons was limited, and with his burned hands this weapon would be all but useless. Still it felt good knowing he had it with him.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
"Anyone want some magical armor before they get close? I don't have any good long-range spells, and there are quite a few of them..." Sakuro asked - quite willing to cast Mage Armor on anyone who replied in the affirmative.

Bad-Luck Baldek |
With four on the road already, the ogres actually stop. They prefer better odds, dinners that don't fight back.
This is bad. Tania, who has been glancing back at them, comes to a full halt, and fires.
[Dice=Attack]1d20+9
[Dice=Damage]1d8+8
"It is? Look Lass, i don't mean to beg, but do you have anything... Well, sharper than this stick?" asks Baldek in a voice laced with fear, showing to the woman his walking stick.
The dwarf is only wearing a simple canvas tunic and rope sandals. The stick seems to be his only other possession...
Why did I have to sell them!?

![]() |

A dagger, but I doubt that's better.
Initiative, Tania: 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Initiative, Alyra: 1d20 + 11 ⇒ (7) + 11 = 18
Initiative, ogres: 1d20 - 1 ⇒ (7) - 1 = 6
Starting into round one, initiative please.
Alyra stays in the underbrush, but you hear her soft, liquid voice casting.
Save: 1d20 ⇒ 12
One ogre stops in mid-stride. This looks familiar.

Reiko Arashi |

Initiative: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 5 = 16
Before sprinting down the path, Reiko spares a moment to speak to Sakuro.
I'll take whatever you can give. Those beasts are not to be taken lightly.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Initiative: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21
"No problem! the girl told Reiko, focusing her arcane energies and commanding them to obey her. Take that, reality! With one swift movement, the girl summoned up an aura of force around the Magus to protect them from harm before they dashed out - and the fact that she was right off the mark this time wasn't hurting any.
Cast: Mage Armor on Reiko. 2/5 1st level spells remaining today.

Nala the Wanderer |

Dotting! The following is just a bit of a more interesting thing to say than just... 'dot'. Sadly, Nala is really far away. Otherwise the unlucky dwarf would have a pony between himself and the ogres. Bad luck that. Good luck for the pony, though. A minor introduction to Nala... who will be an NPC down the line for all of you.
The day seemed to have went on forever, despite the fact that Nala had been sleeping throughout it. She'd awoken several times, at some perceived noise, and gone off to investigate it.
It was on one such time, in which the druid unraveled herself from her thick mound of furs, that she moved to the mouth of the cave with a sigh. I swear I heard something... she thought to herself, looking around lazily. She was still rather groggy, after all, from the deep sleep she'd just experienced... and been awoken from.
The random moments where she awoke were beginning to wear on her nerves. At this rate, she'd wind up sleeping into the night, and likely be yet another day late for the festival. Cutting across the woodlands had saved her time, but it didn't help that she'd only heard about it from a traveling merchant two days prior. Oh well.
Seeing nothing of interest, the druidess slid her hood back down as she moved back into the darkness of the cave. Thankfully, due to the thick canopies, her eyes hadn't needed to adjust.
"It's just your nerves... if they hadn't mentioned how dangerous this forest was to travel in, you'd have never even worried yourself. You'd just be sleeping now." She thought out loud.
As she slipped into the welcoming darkness of the cave, there was a sudden pain in the back of her head... and everything went fuzzy... and then black.

Bad-Luck Baldek |
Initiative: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
Baldek's eyes widen at the sight of the small blade: "Lass, if you want to make me cry, you're doing everything right!!"
A dagger. A DAGGER!!!
His eyes seem to lose focus somewhat, and he yells as he turns on the balls of his feet to face the incoming ogres: "WHY DID I HAVE TO SELL THEM!!??!!"
Raging.
Readied charge if an ogre passes within range: 1d20 + 7 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 7 + 2 = 141d6 + 10 ⇒ (2) + 10 = 12

Jun Korter |

Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (18) + 2 = 20
Jun hears the fighting before he sees who it is, and thanks his mysterious patron for keeping his luck running hot. He calls out to them as he moves towards them, anxious to help them in battle.
Move at 20', not sure how long it will take me to get there

Antonio Nedraid |

Round 1__________________
Seeing his chance, Antonio lines up on the one ogre holding still and tightens his finger on the trigger.
light crossbow attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13 for a possible 1d8 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + (2) = 7 piercing and precision damage.

Reiko Arashi |

Reiko charges the ogres, his downward swing vicious against the lead beast.
Not sure if it's the one frozen or not, just the one in front so to speak.
Charge!: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (11) + 6 = 17
Damage: 1d8 + 5 ⇒ (8) + 5 = 13
I'll hold this one off as best I can! Focus on bringing them down one at a time! Everyone attack the same one!

![]() |

Reiko reaches the ogre, slipping in on it before it can get an AoO, and scores a deep slash in its side. As it's the one Tania injured, it looks rough, but all other attacks miss. Reiko becomes the target.
It glances back and forth expectantly as it attacks, looking worried.
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 18
Damage: 2d8 + 7 ⇒ (3, 4) + 7 = 14
Had it not been a charge, the magic would have just protected him - but it manages to slam home, crushing Reiko's shoulder.

Bad-Luck Baldek |
[dice=Initiative]1d20+2
Raging.
[dice=Readied charge if an ogre passes within range]1d20+7+2; 1d6+10
Not sure if this hit and whether I'm at some ogre's feet.

Sakuro, Obsessed Arcanist |
Sakuro winced as the blow struck Reiko, her magic not quite enough to protect him - which she took as a personal insult, despite the fact that the magic had clearly worked just fine. "...Anybody else want some magical armor?" she asked quietly, preparing to toss a Flare spell if the ogres got close enough.

Antonio Nedraid |

Round 2_______________
Antonio drops the crossbow and bolts from cover, drawing his sword along the way. He spears the unmoving ogre in the back.
dueling sword: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (9) + 3 = 12 for a possible 1d8 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 2 + (1) = 7 piercing and precision damage.

Reiko Arashi |

Reiko howls not in pain, but in anger. He tightens his grip on his blade, and, ignoring the pain, makes another brutal two handed swing.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
Damage: 1d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5

![]() |

The thick hides an ogre wears saves them from so much - and blow after blow misses the swaying monster, until Reiko's slash bites home, and it collapses. The other is still standing stock-still, but straining to move again -
Will: 1d20 ⇒ 2
Sweat rolls off of his pronounced brow, but Alyra's magic holds strong as if it was a mouse railing against a metal cage.
Those who care to may coup-de-gras.
