@ Glimmil: "Your" bachelor party or a friend's?
At least it's clear why Dyrant decided to dance...don't expect to see that again.
I hope it's not your bachelor party...because we *so* should have been invited. Who doesn't invite random yahoos from the intratubez to their bachelor party? The Answer: Gnomes. Sheesh.
Also, Finneas: AC13?! AC 13?! We are *SO* buying you some new armor buddy!

Finneas Glenn |

Yeah apparently being the font of a god's wisdom and power doesn't pay well. After buying yon great mucking sword I had enough left for studded leather. Full plate is on my list as soon as I can afford it, followed by mithral full plate if I can get it. A wand of CLW is top of the list.
You guys would totally be invited to my bachelor party if I was having one.

"I think it's right and proper to accept his surrender. I don't know what we'll do with a prisoner though. Perhaps we should take his key and let him go."
I'm not sure if I like the fact that this is post 666. :)

@ Glimmil: "Your" bachelor party or a friend's?
Mine! I'm back in town and recovering after festivities... expect my posts to become more frequent and coherent (or intentionally less coherent befitting a gnome?).
Having a proper PC and RSS reader will help me immensely.

How would you handicap our chances in the Stolen Lands? I would hear your thoughts.
I'm not sure I'm good at predicting these. I've seen a lot of DMs error for mechanically sound parties versus working out personalities and player's who will actively participate (i.e. picking up the lone cleric submission when the player maybe posts twice a week and has nothing beyond "I'm an orphan the church took in").
I think you're 99% likely to get in either way (mechanics or beyond). You're the lone druid submission and you have something cool thematically for a GM who professes to be modeling a campaign after AGOT.
I wasn't sure what my odds were, but then the GM took the time to write all that prose for my character, so he has an investment there. I should be pretty solid on both mechanics (as a limited number of heavy warriors are submitted) and hook that the GM could abuse to use me to advance the story.
If accepted, I look forward to playing a dodgy knight - it will be a stark contrast to Glim.
It has the appearance of a good campaign. I was a little shocked to see a lot more apps for the other Kingmaker thread.

AGOT!? I thought it was modeled after EGOT and I was about to change my character into a Barbara Streisand/Liza Minelli bardess type!
Phew!
Though I don't share your optimism, I'll continue to hope for you and the best.

Congrats from me as well. I'm getting married in October so there will be a day where I actually won't be online as much.
Just one day with reduced posting... you're a machine!
Also,
Thanks for all your kind words... it's exciting, we've been together a long time.

Glimmil |

... Barbara Streisand/Liza Minelli bardess type!
You know, that's a concept I don't think I've ever seen done all the way.
As I've caught up on the recruitment thread, I think your biggest detractor might be that Ravens might appear a bit anti-social, although I'd very much like to read what a bird-brained druid thinks about when he's not speaking to the humanoids in his party.

I really wanted to apply with a wolf riding goblin cavalier but it didn't seem like a game that would support that concept.

Yeah, hard to see a lot of pull there. :( Racist Brevoy noble bastards probably have issues with all goblins.
* * *
Yeah, I do need to find more connections/story hooks and I'm going to another post or two to emphasize and create hooks...I just need to figure out where they are.
Don't suppose, Sir Bregan, you'll be arriving on horseback anytime soon?

Thanks. I'm not quite sure how the RP is taking place in the recruitment thread. At the moment, things are a little choppy and Q&A oriented.
Maybe he'll make it clearer when he expects that to start.
My thoughts? Add some "maester" flavor to Ravens, and give your organization some motivation to send you off wherever we'd be headed.
Sorry to hi-jack the SCAP OOC thread... maybe we'll see some of you guys jump in. Looks like some RotR AP mixed in, now.

Exactly. Ah well, one day Splurch the Goblin will ride, and it will be glorious.

Excellent idea. Not sure I want to use that word or include various chains around my neck, but the flavor makes for a very good idea.
And not too sorry to hijack the OOC thread...this is OOC crap and it's all apart of building the social gaming experience, which I like. :)

Glimmil of course casts Speak With Animals before beginning the conversation - my favorite reason for being a looney gnome.
Lolz.
Ah yes...a gnome with animals! It's all too rare to see in my book. I'll watch this happen without comment.

Here is what I found in the thread about rats & familiars:
18-Elethor Ashstaff (male half-elf, age 58): A wizard and trickster who occasionally performed minor feats of prestidigitation at birthday parties for upper-class children. A dead rat – possibly Elethor’s familiar – was found in his home. He vanished 22 nights ago.
Seems unrelated or perhaps rats are popular around here.
Ghelve whispers, "They're always watching me. They've got Starbrow. They'll kill him."
...
"They came up through the door, the door to Jzadirune. I haven't visited it in decades, not since the vanishing. They, they said they'd kill me. They took Starbrow, said they'd kill him and me if I didn't cooperate. There are the silver ones and shorter ones that look like us but in a sinister way with pallid skin, large noses and soft black hooves for feet. I'm sorry. I'm so sorry."
Clues suggested starbrow was his familiar though we did not bother to confirm just what was taken from him.

Yeah, I wouldn't directly grab the word or the exact rituals, but the overall structure seems to be good inspiration for what kind of game the GM is aiming for.

The talking chest made me think of this miniature toothy chest from sodapop minis.
My fiance is actually using that kobold as her half of the cake topper.

Opened my Pathfinder conversion file and of course reviewed it and found errors so I'm tweaking/fixing it. HeroLab and common sense say it's still a CR 2 creature which is what the silver men are supposed to be. Since you would have figured these things out by now, their initiative is +4, their AC is 14 (all dex), and their HP is 19. It's a cross between the 3.5 creature and a Pathfinder Dark Creeper. I would've just jused the dark creeper, but they weren't stealthy enough and the small creatures didn't quite fit.

Dyrant Maynor, the Pre-Sainted |

He went from "Broken down man in search of redemption" to "REPENT OR BE SAVED!"
He had a bad few days. :(
I don't think he's done anything wrong to need "redemption"...I think he's now searching for a new path and will struggle with that.

Finneas Glenn |

Less the character and more the picture. Dyrant the character has struck me as someone who is one drink away from the whole bottle, and this quest happened at just the right time to help him find a different way.
But that picture. I imagine that's what Dyrant will look like after we're done.

You've changed my mind. Thanks. Back to who I was.
D30, sadly, you can't upload your own portraits. :(
