Snapped out of the distraction of swimming with the animals by the meany monster, I attempt to heal Ivar.
Life Link Ivar: -5 hp
Casting Defensively if needed, not sure if I'm in range of monster's long reach. Just in case.
Cast Defensively: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (1) + 9 = 10 vs. DC19 (fail)
Cure Moderate Wounds: 2d8 + 5 ⇒ (5, 8) + 5 = 18 depends if I needed to cast defensively, could be 0 hp as I loose the spell.
| Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson |
Round 3, 18 damage - 5 L.L. - 2 dr so 11 damage
"blasted overgrown gecko!" Swinging his pick, Ivar is unable to avoid the lizard biting his leg. 'I hope I'm giving as good as I'm getting. I don't know how long I can keep this up. Good thing the little guy has life lips, or whatever he called it.' Jerking his pick out of the Lizards neck as it pulls away, he lifts the pick again, waiting for the thing to attack. when it sticks it's head close enough again, he will swing.
Readied action, attack when any part of the creature is close enough to hit: attack: + 1 pick, WA, PA, FF, PB rage AC -2 @ 18
attacks: 1d20 + 14 ⇒ (17) + 14 = 31 for damage: 1d6 + 10 + 6 + 2 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 10 + 6 + 2 + 1 = 21
Yeah, if it hit's it's after the things attack, so the sad part, if it kills Ivar first, this don't matter :-)
So should I just wait until after it's next turn?

OK, well since nobody else seems to want to do anything, we'll have the critter go. Having been quite bloodied, it decides that the food isn't worth the pain, so it dives and swims away.
You arrive at the wreck indicated on your treasure map.
Hidden in the flooded hold of the half-sunken hulk is a locked iron military trunk (DC 25 Disable Device). The chest contains 1,000 gp in gold ingots, a potion of cat’s grace, two potions of lesser restoration, and an adamantine machete (treat as a short sword).

Hindi that looks like 26 Hp healed putting Ivar @ 59
Seeing the great beast flee, Ivar slumps in the boat, nodding at Hindi as the gnome provides medical attention. Smiling, "Thanks Hindi, I'd have died if it wasn't for you."
Turning to Malok, Ivar adds, "Now we can see how that water breathing spell works." Leaving his pack and larger weapons in the boat, Ivar slips into the water, pick and shortsword in his belt.
Handwaving the search and seizure, Ivar has + 10 on swim but no disable device, could he have swam up with the chest or would he need a rope?
A short period of time later, after a little trial and error, Ivar drags a locked iron military trunk into the boat. "I hope we can take the lock off, if not I'll use my crowbar and tear the clasp off."
| Malok, the East Wind |
"Im glad the dino decided to run.. A shame to kill such a wonderous beast."
