'Gotta love those eastern weapons, I wonder why we didn't invent them... crap here comes the little guys' Ivar smiles as the leader looses his head. Realizing almost to late, Ivar grabs his axe and chops at the first little guy, bringing his axe in an arch he swings at the second one coming out of the door.
thanks! If the next one moves where Ivar can chop at it that's great, if not and Ivar needs to step forward 5 ft he will do that,

Jan is now on the boat rushing down the stairs. Can you kill everything just in time for him to arrive?

'Well that's one way to go,' Ivar begins to laugh as the sees the first vegie-man attack and fall faint, then he gets stabbed by the second, "Why you little ..." and turns toward the second attacker and swings his axe at that vegie-man.

Seeing the last vegie-man fall, Ivar, ignoring his several minor wounds for the moment, smiles and nods to the Colonel and to Malok. "Good work gentleman, I will never turn down help in a fight."
'may as well make sure they are dead.' Ivar walks toward the fallen vegie-men "We may as well make sure they are dead.'"and using his axe he chops through their necks removing the heads.
He then assists in searching the room for anything of value.

drbuzzard did you say the big one had a long spear?
drbuzzard
Yes, the big one has a masterwork longspear.
Searcing around:
The Nightvoice’s cargo hold is a hideous scene—the skeletal remains of the ship’s crew lie enshrined here. In all there are 19 bodies here, each consisting of a mound of bones caked
over with mold; each sits amid a small circle of personal objects, teeth, coins, bits of jewelry, and other objects that the crew member valued in life. The vegepygmies honor these bodies
as their “birth corpses” in a crude form of ancestor worship. While many of the objects scattered around the skeletons have long since rotted or rusted away, a search of the hold reveals a total
of 432 cp, 284 sp, 123 gp, and jewelry worth 250 gp amid the bones, along with a pair of bracers of armor +1 and a wand of mirror image (5 charges).
You find a moldy ship's log in the cabin aft, but it is rather moldy and needs a linguistics check to decipher.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
drbuzzard was that the entire hold or just the one room?
Ivar lifts up the spear, "This is a fine spear, who would be best suited to use it?"
Smiling he turns to the Colonel, who is inspecting the moldy book. He then winks, "I will not ask you to use it Colonel, I know how much you like the daggers."
Setting the spear down begins gathering the coins and putting them in his rucksack. turning to Malok 'If nothing else Malok we can turn the coppers into arrowheads, right?"
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
'Ah Janzadar, he did make it, I was beginning to worry.' Ivar walks over to Janzadar and shows his companion the small cuts on his arms and legs from the vegie-men spears. "Oh and there is one on my back from earlier." He reaches and turns pointing over his shoulder to a stab wound on the small of his back. "Can you heal them?"
Seeing the Colonel continue with attempting to read the book he smiles. "don't worry if the sword, you provided plenty of distraction sneaking up on them the way you did." Then pointing to the book, he asks. "If we bring that along would that prissy gnome be able to help us read it?"
Janzadar
"Of course." - Janzadar answers Ivar.
The Bonuwat man closes his eyes, and prays for Shimye-Magalla's help.

'That feels better, even the pulled muscle in my shoulder has stopped hurting.' Ivar give a slight nod, "Thank you Janzadar." Having gathered all he could find of value Ivar asks; "shall we search the rest of the ship?" Going through the rest of the ship with a fine tooth comb, Ivar leaves no moss covered stone unturned.
will one perception roll do for the rest of the boat, or should we keep rolling or just take 20?
perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (15) + 6 = 21
Malok, the East Wind
Malok shrugs.. "Not to keen on making arrows, only firing them.. Not to keen on that either at times.."
"Shall we head back to crusty island and continue our search?"
drbuzzard
Either a good Linguistics roll or spending a bunch of time figuring it out will get you the meaning. The Col. tried a roll and didn't make it. People can try, but linguistics is trained only, so if you don't have the skill, you can't try or aid.
Now if you want to camp out here and give the Col. some time to figure it out, he will, but you will have to spend the night here for that to happen.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
After Ivar is done searching the ship for loot, and the others gives the ledger back to the colonel, Ivar ask, 'Shall we return to the island?"
Leaving the fungus covered boat by way of the fungus covered ropes to the fungus covered island Ivar continues the direction they were going on the fungus covered beach, axe in hand, keeping a keen eye out for any fungus covered movement.

You don't see any odd fungus movement other than the odd looking stalk swaying in the breeze.
The only other place of note in this gray wasteland is a high promontory on the other side of the islet. <hint hint> Who knows there might be something important there?<hint hint>
<GM nudge>
GO TO THE PROMONTORY!
I mean, what do you want to do now?
drbuzzard
The promontory is separated from the islet proper by more of those fungal rope bridges.
In the interest of saving time, you are able to cross them without any trouble (you have practice now).
There is something of a trail which leads up towards the top. It doesn't appear to have seen much use in some time.
Ivar "Goldilocks" Theodinson
'More mossy bridges, guess we will cross. After crossing the odd bridges, Ivar notices the old trail going to the top, "Hey look an old trail, why don't we check it out." Ivar heads up the trail, nodding as he sees Janadar quick to follow. As he nears the top he slows down and watches carefully for anything of interest.

'Nice, no need to light a torch, both Janzadar and Lalali-Re can create light.' following along behind Janzadar he kicks the only other rock in the cave, shrugging his shoulders as Janzadar apologizes. Then seeing Lalali-Re rubbing her eyes, Ivar notices that she missed some on her cheek, so getting her attention he mimics her rubbing her eyes and then points to just below the right one.
