Well ya did not say ya was using that option or make the roll, so I assumed you did not.
Fair enough, this is only the third time Markhet has jumped off Larrs this entire adventure so I forgot about it, but it was what I intended because I had Markhet healing last round. If you say no to the recon that's fine but it was my intention and Markhet has done that in the past . . . just not successfully IIRC.
And yes the el would normally gain the AoO, however I rolled really, really well to avoid said AoO. Also I tend to roll AoO's once triggered as it keeps the game flowing
Cool, I wasn't sure, but now I know (and knowing is half the battle: GI Joe!)
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
I don't mind reconning, I was just pointing out I did not know ya was doing that :)
Ayish moves forward to strike at the Demon, but fails to land a blow as N'Djamerna casts a spell, Vrelk lets another arrow fly with no more luck then Ayish. Kelden sends fire reaching for the demon, but it manages to swing out of the way.
Markhet starts to summon as her elemental attacks again. Larrs moves over to protect the Gnome as Celena starts to cut herself again.
Round 5
The demon has had enough of Markhets help, it snaps at the Elemental then lands upon the floor. It seems it is done playing hit and run.
Init: 5
* xulthos = 25[went]

* N'Djamena = 20
* Vrealk = 15
* Kalden= 15
* Markhet/Air Elemental = 12

* Celena = 4 [confused, may still be able to act]
N'Djamena
Just to clarify the sequence of actions for N'Djamena:
Round 1: cast bull's strength
Round 2: begin casting silence
Round 3: silence goes off, cast true strike
Round 4: throw javelin w/ true strike
It looks like I wasn't clear what he was doing on round 3.
N'Djamena sacrifices Resist Energy to cast Cure Moderate Wounds on the confused Celena.
2d8 + 4 ⇒ (3, 8) + 4 = 15
Markhet
Markhet finishes summoning and another air elemental blows in. then Markhet casts guidance on Larrs and as her move action she jumps back into the saddle again.
1st air elemental 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (13) + 8 = 211d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
2nd air elemental 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (18) + 8 = 261d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
Markhet spurs the cat into battle:
"Come on Larrs let's squash us a big stinky bug"
acrobatics to avoid AoO: 1d20 + 12 ⇒ (12) + 12 = 24
Attack: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 241d6 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 5
Just a reminder: should the acrobatics fail Larrs has mobility so he's effectively AC 21 vs AoO
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
Well Vrealk or Ayish have not posted so I will act for them
Seeing she is unable to hit the monster, Ayish steps back and unleashes twin arcane bolts that slam into the Demon. N'Djamerna reaches forward to heal Celena.
Vrealk Fires another arrow, but it goes well wide of the beast as kalden lets loose another ray of fire, it hits the demon, but seems to have little real effect.
Markhets Elemental pound the beast, he ignore them as Larrs charges in, trying to avoid the Demons tail, with no luck. The barbed tail cuts deep into the lion 13 hp as the lions teeth find the demons flesh.
Celena confused by N'Djamerna's touch strikes out at him, but the cleric moves from her blade.
Round 6,
Now on the ground the demon swings into terrible action. It sidesteps then bites into Larrs 11 hp dropping the lion, racks Kelden with two of its claws 19 hp And strikes at N'Djamerna with its tail 12 hp
I would like to point out, you guys DO have hero points left

Larrs has 27 HP and the demon just dealt 24, unless I'm missing something Larrs is still up. Also, until the end of the round, Markhet has two air elementals! :D
Air elemental 1: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 131d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
Air elemental 2:Flank with Larrs 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d4 + 3 ⇒ (2) + 3 = 5
Larrs:flank with second air elemental1d20 + 9 ⇒ (4) + 9 = 131d6 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7+1 from last rounds guidance
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (10) + 9 = 191d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
1d20 + 9 ⇒ (18) + 9 = 271d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
If both claws hit Larrs also gets to add a rake damage: 1d4 + 4 ⇒ (3) + 4 = 7
Markhet will aid other on Larrs: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (10) + 1 = 11
If successful that's +2 to Larrs' AC against the demon's next attack.

Ugh did not update Larrs HP's {makes not to double check everyone's HP's}. Yeah I just forgot to mark number 2 on the map. Also gonna point out the rake would be really hard to pull off with a rider
It's not something he chooses to do, it's just extra damage that gets added on if he hits with both claw attacks, I assume because the lion is tearing in opposite directions with his attacks.
Vrealk
Vrealk should tumble in front of N'Djamena to make use of that air elemental flank. You'd enjoy it till the end of this round. Plus it would make both attacks sneak attacks!
Ride check:1d20+8
Staying in the saddle is usually a DC 5 check
I didn't think you could flank with a missile weapon; is that a mistaken impression?
Vrealk
Vrealk wrote:You'd need to use a melee weapon, but you'd do a lot more damage and if you run out of flanks you could always tuumble back out and use the bow again.
I didn't think you could flank with a missile weapon; is that a mistaken impression?
Not certain about that; most of the weapons have had negligible effect, including the elementals. Except my first shot with an iron arrow. I'm thinking it's got DR like some of the demons we faced earlier. My daggers are magical, but not iron. If Vrealk's suspicions are confirmed with these shots, he'll make sure and vocalize to the rest.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
Kelden I gave you what info your rolls would grant you in the last update.
Ayish lets off another set of missiles,which barrel into the Demon as N'Djamerna calls upon his gods might to send forth a healing wave. Vrealk fires off two arrows, both seem to hit but only one seems to even hurt the beast.
Kelden enlarges himself and pull out a scroll as, Markhets Elemental try and Attack the demon. Larrs attacks, hitting with his claws and Markhet holds on for dear life as the lion rakes the demon.
Celena still looking confused Smashes her Hammer into the demon, it roars in pain.

Indeed, you attack your attacker
Ayish moves to heal Celena, leaving herself open to the demon, who bites the bard. 15 hp, N'Djamerna heals everyone once more As Vrealk moves to flank with Celena, he strikes at the beast, but the thing is to fast.
Kelden also misses as the thing moves out of the way, Larrs bites and claws the thing as Markhet hangs on for dear life. Celena , still confused hammers the demon hard.

How could this thing have DR as well? I mean it should have the usual demon resistances or immunities to fire, electricity, and poison, but if you factor in DR how could a team of level 4 characters ever hope to defeat something like this? There's a DC 18 Will save to avoid confusion, that's pretty steep, then it's also able to confuse people? Supposing we have the average party of fighter, wizard, cleric and rogue the DC is at a point were the fighter and rogue wouldn't be likely to save and the normal demon resistances FUBAR most low level wizard spells. Demons at this level should have either DR, high AC, or some other defense, not all three, otherwise there's no reasonable way we could win.
Not to gripe but if this thing has DR Markhet simply cannot be of any use what so ever. Time to pack up my stuff and go home so to speak. There's no 2nd level druid spell that could ever overcome DR and there are no summons that would ever (barring a critical) overcome DR of 10 or higher. If this thing has DR I've been wasting my time. At the moment I only have 2 1st level spells left, no healing, and neither spell could possibly hurt this thing or be of any use whatsoever in this fight. There's also nothing Markhet summon that could hurt this thing. As is Markhet burned two 2nd level spells to try to summon something to distract and hurt this thing, I'd hoped that this demon might attack them rather then my party members, but if I discover that this thing had DR the whole time and my spells were useless it's time to quit because my best abilities can't even tickle this thing.
DR sucks at any level but in an adventure where you have no way of buying or acquiring weapons to overcome DR it's pure suckage. If this thing has DR Mr Mona can go f*@K himself. What the hell was he thinking putting a monster this nasty in here? If we had a party of eighteen 4th level characters I'd be surprised if we could beat it.
Keeper of Forbidden Lore
Yes she is up, standing could trigger an AoO normally, but Ayish already triggered it
Ayish casts healing upon Celen, leaving herself open to the beast 10 hp it bites into the bard, she casts her spell and falls. N'Djamerna calls upon his gods healing once more.
Vrealk flanking the beast, digs into him Hard with one of his daggers, the monsters roars. It roars again as Kelden slices into its body with his axe.
Lars bits into the things as The elemental pound the beast.
I'll let celena post her actions before I go to the next round, if she posts before Bedtime anyhow
