Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Goblin

Spoiler:
"Do you speak my language, hyena man?"

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"How many entances are there to the place? Any secret ways in?"

GM

He does not seem to understand Goblin

"Humm. a few, you could go with the gate or one of the breaks in the wall. Me thinks you would not want to knock on the gate."

"He's just trying to save his hide. Kill him."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk grins at Kelden's suggestion. He licks his blade, and approaches the gnoll. If no one stops him, he quickly takes care of it.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"Hold on" Celena interjects "Lets not be hasty about this."

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish will certainly move to protect the Gnoll...assuming she realizes the prisoners peril.

Perception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11

Meh...(-_-)

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"Not be hasty? Me thinks that would be nicer than slow death. But if you think he should suffer, friend-Celena, me guesses me could do that."

"Hmmm, Markhet thinks that she, Celena and Ayish should make a quick sweep of the area to make sure there are no gnolls hiding behind those obscuring trees over there. Markhet is certain that something might be lurking over there. Seems like a good lurking spot. Markhet thinks it would take a good ten minutes? That should give our companions ample time to finish questioning our gnoll here and 'set him free'"

Markhet doesn't use air quotes around 'set him free' but she does emphasize the phrase.

"Markhet hopes that Mr gnoll is gone by the time we return."

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"Would it not make more sense to send those of us who would make much less noise?"

"Markhet suspects that if there are gnolls over there, they've been alerted by the battle, but this one thinks that if we hurry we might catch any of them from slinking off. If there are any gnolls!"

GM

"wait! wait! you say you let gog go if he helped, gog told you what you asked! Gog run far away, no like the carrion king anyhow. To much work, dig this go there, lift that kill those worship the rough best and not the mother. Gog go far, far away, gog promises!"

He says trying to crawl away from the goblin and his blades.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena sighs. "Let him go. If it is our fate that we should fall in battle with the Carrion King, one gnoll more or less will not matter. And if we are as cruel as the gnolls, are we truly any better than they are?"

Vrealk frowns, but sheathes his blades. "Me thinks yes. Gnolls would likely torture us, and only killl us once they bored. Then they cook and eat us. Or worse, kill us BY cooking us. Or maybe sacrifice us to the evil gods they serve.

"Me would kill him quickly, humanely. If he were captured by our patrols, what you think his fate would be? And if we are representatives of Almah, shouldn't we carry out justice in her name?"

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Seeing the distress of the Gnoll Ayish steps between it (Him?) and Vrealk.

"While your words are wise and true, friend Vrealk, friend N'Djamena's words match my own heart more closely." She looks at the Gnoll.

"Gog, is it?" She asks stepping closer and placing a calming arm upn its (His?) shoulder, "Upon freeing you and helping you leave are you sure you understand out position of strength and this act is not some sort of weakness?" She asks, hoping the furry humanoid understands.

"This is the law of the jungle -- as old and as true as the sky, the wolf that obeys it may prosper, but the wolf who brakes it must die."

Markhet adds mysteriously.

"This one doesn't enjoy killing. And this one feels great pity for the beast, but at this time Markhet doesn't agree with Nethys' counsel on the matter. One gnoll isn't likely to make a difference to us, but Markhet fears that he may make a difference to someone. And Markhet fears what will happen if that someone is weaker then our captured gnoll."

GM

If translated Gog nods at Ayishes words "Gog go far away!"

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena says in Gnoll: "Leave, then." He gestures into the distance.

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

Vrealk whispers to the others as the gnoll takes off, "Me thinks me should follow him. Make sure he goes away from mountain and doesn't tell Carrion King we're coming. If he goes away, me will let him, but if he turns to go back, me can make sure he don't make it."

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish does nod in agreement with Vrealk's idea,

"Be careful, my friend." She whispers in reply.

Male Human Cleric 5

N'Djamena shrugs. "Do as thou wilt."

"You should not go alone." Kelden goes with Vrealk. "We will be gone no longer than a few hours."

GM

If given the chance Gog Fless, hands tied or not.

Is it the plan to scout ahead then?

Male Human Cleric 5

Sounds like it. N'Djamena has no objection.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish will try and make sure Gog has his hands free and has at least one weapon.

"Give it a weapon and I will kill it. It is only reasonabl to untie its hands, but to give it a weapon is to much."
Kelden will allow it to go as he would not like Celena or N'Djamena to think less of him, but if Vrealk kills the gnoll, Kelden will not stop him.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

At Kelden's words Ayish looks nervously at Gog and hands the Gnoll a small amount of coin instead.

"I know it has no sharp edges, but perhaps it will help you anyway..." She says quietly as a way of wishing Gog well.

Markhet rides up to Ayish standing on Larrs' back so she can whisper in her ear:

"Ayish is too kind to such creatures," Markhet whispers, "gnolls are like dogs that have looked into the sun for too long. They kill and hurt for no other reason other then they can. Arming this beast is a way to ensure that it kills someone in the future. Markhet loves Ayish's compassion but here it is entirely misplaced."

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"OK, let beast go. If me sees it again, me will kill it. Slowly." Vrealk looks at Gog, and slowly licks his dagger blade, grinning at the gnoll. Making sure it gets the message to go, and not return.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish smiles at her Gnome friend's words.

"We are all creatures after our own nature. I would not try and change yours any more than Vrealks." She replies, then looks to Gog,

"But every one can learn and adjust some of their habits..." And she smiles again at the Gnoll, adding a small polite bow as she steps away as a final message of goodbye.

Once that is done.
"Freeing it was a mistake. But what is done is done. Let's go observe the gnoll encampment. I'd like to scout it out for a while before finalizing our plans."

GM

Are you planning to spend a whole day scouting? Is Markhet planning a fly over?

Making there way into the foot hills It takes Vrealk and Kelden a few hours to come across what most be the house of the beast. The forsaken temple rests upon the crags of the pale mountain. Its crumbling spires and domes bask in the pale light of the mountains sky.The scope of such a temple in such a remote place is almost implausible. It juts high upon the crags as if a stepping stone to the realms of the Gods themselves.

Among the broken stones and empty weed chocked fountains, dry thorny shrubs poke though the packed clay soil. The temple would seem abandoned if not for the ominous feeling of dread seeping from the walls and the dozens of gory warnings hung upon the outer walls: Headless bodies, thick with the black swarms of flies.

Just how close you two plan to scout?

I think one day is a reasonable amount of time.

Yes, we'll have Markhet fly over. She should be able to find a nice spot to perch and observe.

We will get as close as Vrealk is comfortable with, which will probably be too close for Kelden's tastes. However, Kelden has Invisibility and the great hope that they can't see invisible.

Male Human Cleric 5

since Brian/Vrealk is out of town on business, maybe we can just NPC him for now

GM

It wasn't him it was me, had some issues..again. Man this has not been my summer.

Vrealk got a bit closer to the wall then Kalden, close enough to spot a few breaks. With what he was able to see and Markhets fly over you do get a good overview of the Ruin.

On the eastern side stairs lead up into the temples yards, doors also site in the west and north as well as collapses making entry points in every wall.

Overview, its a big place

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Oooh....it looks pretty...

Male Goblin Fighter 1 / Rogue 4

"Me thinks walking in through the front door would be bad. Better we go through one of the holes in the wall."

GM

Ah ya don't want to walk up and ask em if they want to convert religions or buy some cook ware or something?

Do we see anyone coming or going from any of the buildings, particularly the north western one?

GM

You spotted no movement outside the walls. Markhet on her fly over however would have spotted some. Mostly a Lone Gnoll here or there and once a pair riding rather Large hyenas.

Female Gnome Paladin 5

"Agreed. Perhaps the hole in the south wall?"

GM

what time of day? sneaky folks running a bit out in front to scout for patrols?

Male Human Cleric 5

"From what our trusty scouts have described, the south wall sounds as good as any," N'Djamena agrees equably.

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish also nods in agreement, though she trusts her more combat worthy companions ideas on how best to approach and sneak into the ruin.

Might as well do it in the morning when we are at our best.
I believe we've had Vrealk up front with the rest of us following a distance behind him.

GM

Ok going though the south wall, in the morning. Give me some stealth and perception rolls. How far back is everyone else staying from the scouts?]

Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (8) + 8 = 16
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (19) + 8 = 27
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (5) + 8 = 13
Perception 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (9) + 8 = 17

Stealth 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Stealth 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Stealth 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (11) + 10 = 21
Stealth 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (13) + 10 = 23

Add 2 to each if Gnoll for favorite enemy bonus.

Male Human Cleric 5

How far is it from the nearest cover to the south wall? Vrealk and Kelden can give the rest of us the thumbs up when they think the coast is clear. I don't suppose anyone knows the Message cantrip, do they?

Female Gnome Paladin 5

Celena being the slowest and least stealthy of the group will stay pretty far back (Close enough to remain in spotting distance of the advanced group but no closer)

Stealth

1d20 - 3 ⇒ (15) - 3 = 12
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (1) - 3 = -2
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (2) - 3 = -1
1d20 - 3 ⇒ (5) - 3 = 2

Perception

1d20 - 1 ⇒ (12) - 1 = 11
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (1) - 1 = 0
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (16) - 1 = 15
1d20 - 1 ⇒ (14) - 1 = 13

Female Suli Bard 3/ Wizard 2

Ayish is possibly the last or second last in line of the group?

Stealth:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12
Stealth:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 24
Stealth:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (13) + 7 = 20
Stealth:1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 25

Perception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (1) + 10 = 11
Perception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
Perception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (18) + 10 = 28
Perception:1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26
