Seeker's 5e Reign of Winter (Inactive)

Game Master seekerofshadowlight

It has been a century since the immortal witch Baba Yaga last visited the world, and the hour draws nigh for her return. But when she fails to appear in the frozen realm of Irrisen to usher in its newest ruler, pockets of winter begin to grow throughout the Inner Sea region. After 1,400 years of perpetual winter, the icy curse of Irrisen is spreading! What links do these strange blizzards and swaths of wintry landscapes have with Irrisen, and is there any truth to the growing rumors that the Witch Queen Elvanna has taken full control of the realm? Can her plans for the Inner Sea be thwarted, or will the Reign of Winter engulf the world?

Round 1

Jack would attack the attackers with his duel daggers, assuming he can run and jump to reach them, otherwise he throws them. attack: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (1) = 6
offhand attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (20) + 5 = 25
dmg first dagger: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 as an ally should be next to them for his sneak attack.
sneak attack: 1d6 ⇒ 3
dmg 2nd dagger, yeah crits: 2d4 ⇒ (4, 1) = 5 with the second attack.
does my sneak attack double as well: 1d6 ⇒ 5 addition dmg
round 2, dex dex: 5 + 1d20 ⇒ 5 + (17) = 22 He dodges for half, but doesn't have much left, so he is down.

Yes, sneak attacked rolled twice as well. Nothing is doubled. Rolled dice are rolled a second time on a crit. Modifiers only apply one time.

What happens with me getting hit with a breath weapon while I'm already at 0HP?

Male Wood Elf Rogue 4 (Swashbuckler); AC: 16, Unarmored: 14; HP: 21/29; Saves: Advantage vs. Charm, Dex and Int; Init: +4; Perc: +4 (Passive 14), HD 4

Based on my reading of the post. The breath weapon damage was 8, 4 if you save, right? If you are at 0, you are down, and going into negatives does not apply in 5E.

AC:15 HP: 18/19 HD: 2/2

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
Since it's cold, Barl takes no damage from the breath weapon, right?

Barl laughs off the creatures frosty breath weapon "Ha, your bad breath is just going to keep me cool as i kick your butts!"

Then gets smacked in the face with a claw while he isn't paying attention.

"Ow!"

Barl switches it up and sics Ulga on the fey the hit him.

Ulga: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10

Damage: 2d6 + 3 ⇒ (3, 3) + 3 = 9

Warlock 2 (Winter); AC 13; HP 13/17

If we could spend a HD when we rested, I would do so.

HD: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10

Reflex: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12

[ooc]HPS = 13/17[/dice]

Kat snarls and unleashes another bolt at the one she hit earlier.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 81d10 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10

GM

Barl's cold resistance is to natural cold effect, not magical ones. 5e is a bit iffy on that stuff. I'll let ya take half on a failed save and none on a passed save. And yes, its 8 if people failed the save, 4 if they passed. I am not gonna make folks at 0 start roiling saves or anything.

Round 1:
Jack moves in with a double slash, completely killing the ice creature fighting Barl, the thing explodes and sends shards of ice into both Jack and Barl. Hit with both the shards and the cold, Jack goes downBarl DC 10 Dex , 4 HP if you fail, 2 if you pass

With jack down, that just leaves Vic, Barl and Kat to deal with the two remaining attackers. Barl rushes to double team the one attacking Vic, but misses as Kat blasts at, but misses the one closing to attack her. The creature, attacking vic lands a solid blow 5 hp but the one charging kat fails to hit her.

dice:

Attack on Vic 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (15) + 3 = 18 damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4 and cold damage 1d4 ⇒ 1
Attack on Kat 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 damage 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

Ok, there are two left. One is between Barl and Vic, the other is attacking kat. Vic may take his round 2 action, even if the % HP dropped him. And yes, these things explode in sharp shards of ice when killed.

GM

Vic and Barl fail to hit the attacker that seems to be between them, Kat on the other hand with a crazed look claws at her attacker, stripping away ice like flesh with her bare hands. At Ice men, fail to hit either Barl or Kat as Vic ducks out of sight

has it been a new round since my last death save? If so I need to roll a new one

GM

yeah new round

The fleeing iceman is hit at range by both Vic and kat, exploding above into an icy shard filled, mist. Silence then descends upon your camp. A few of you now lay unmoving in clear need of aid. You are left in the cold as darkness descends, wondering if those icemen where alone and if someone else will come looking for them.

Not a bad idea, but I would prefer to push on a little ways and build a fire right out here to keep warm. Does anybody see any defensible positions or cover we can use without having to go all the way back to the cabin. Plus, that is uphill, in this snow.

Vic begins to look for an adequate camp site.

Kat snarls as the creature explodes into mist. No, no, no!!! she screams inwardly, her fingers flexing impotently in a hungering, near senseless rage as if itching to rip into it more... It appears she had forgotten her companions... or was purposefully ignoring them.

Jack dreams loudly, nah, the DM was probably just busy

GM

The GM is very, very busy. Should be up to at lest a few times a week right now. Should be up to near daily starting next month( I hope)

You guys have a few options. Going back to the cabin could be hard with so many of you down. And you may have to go wide to miss the hut. Vic can find a defendable site if you wish. The only issue is you will have a very, very hard time covering tracks without magic or something. Let me know what you guys wish to do

Speaking as one of the unconscious, I recommend the defensible site. Traveling with downed folks, sounds bad. And who know you might get lucky on your sirvival roll.

Vic picks out a defensible location, and begins to set up camp.

Can one of you good with tracks and tracking, try to cover our trail?

GM

Vic is able to find a nice spot, a rough bank to your back with a defensible slop on three sides. Night is setting in and most of the group is out.

Any other plans at the moment?

Warlock 2 (Winter); AC 13; HP 13/17

None here.

Jack can't make plans, he is Koed right now, though I can make plans, and I plan to rest at a safe place for us to rest, hopefully we found one

GM

Lets move on then, sorry for the slow up dating. I should be good daily til the weekend.

The night passes without an attack. The morning meet you with more snow and bitter cold. It silent a around,no bird,no deer,no hares running though the under brush. Just unearthly silence and snow fall.

Tursk awakes feeling stiff but more numb than in pain. But he knows enough about medicine and the cold to feel concern rather than relief. Still he dresses in his armor and begins his daily prayers. Once he has finished communing with Erastil, he breaks down his tent.

As of today I will be able to update in the evenings once I get home Monday-Friday. I do in fact see the light at the end of the tunnel. Thank you all for sticking in there

Tursk, has no trouble at all finding the trail, its hidden under snow, but lack of trees makes it stand out very well. The issue is, how you wish to proceed? Its likely someone knows you are coming down the trail. So do you much in, send someone forward to scout of move off the trail and try to find your target without being spotted?
