Nel looks at the body of the little dragon.

Should we take the body? I'm not certain if he followed a faith or sumthin'. He was a companion...of sorts.

On taking the wand, she smiles, Ooh nice. Does anyone know what it does?

Dammit im not dead!!! much to the DMs dismay! lol

Bojask shrugs at Gramlag's request, before looking around for a moment. Spotting a bit of rope he takes it and ties it around a crate making a makeshift handle.

He does the same to another before heading over to Kertria, picking her up and setting her over his shoulder.

After securing her, he heads back over to the two crates of wine, lifts the up and begins tracking back down the road.

This leaves the party with two crates left to carry.

he's not dead? You sure? Oh well its hard to tell. Its an easy mistake. I mean he looks dead.

Shade looks a bit embarrassed.

How about I carry him then.

Volk shrugs, " When the Orc used it, seemed to heal you.. slowly.. Wont have to carry anyone if they arent.. unconscious.. and we still need to carry these crates. " He looks to Gramlag, " They deserved to die the way they did, the archer shoot Ternock when he was down and the Old man cut down Kertria. I only did what was fair an thats about it. He looks back to Nel, " Use the wand and see what it does first.. "

Male Human Aetherkineticst 3 | HP 30/33 (3 NL) | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort +7 Ref +4 Will +2| CMD 13 | Init +3 | Perception +7 | 24/100 Evils

If Nel doesnt seem like she can use it or suggested Volk uses it on both Kertria as she is being carried away and Ternock.

Wand Rolls:

UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 2 = 11
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (20) + 2 = 22
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (11) + 2 = 13
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
UMD: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (7) + 2 = 9

Volk stands over Ternock as he sees him eventually awaken and says with his normal tone, " Your alive.. next time.. dont run ahead without protection.. in the open.. when there is an archer. Also.. I jumped in the water to stop you from drowning. Now we have to get these crates. " He sighs looking at his arm and trying to pick up the wine case.

No matter how much Volk tries he finds himself unable to lift the crate.

Each crate weighs 100 pounds.

Volk tries and tries as hard as he can. He knew it was often seen as.. attractive for a male to display acts of strength and as such expected to be able to lift it. And he did, but it wouldn't count as that.. he wobbled back and forth and embarrassed himself. Right as he is about to fall Strigala catches the other side. Volk's emotions begin to show and he cant hold back a blush or more apparent, the heavy breathing from the muscle strain he was going through.

He looked to Strigala in shame, averting his eyes from.. pretty much everyone, " Sorry.. it seems I'm too weak to even count as a male.. Bojask could carry TWO.. and Miss Kertria.. I can barely handle one.."

Nel happily surrenders the wand to volk.
i don't know, there is something wrong with that wand.

infernal healing, if that's what it is, is rather evil btw. And an evil act to use. Not complaining, just noting.

Before
Nel tries to id the two items that radiate magic.

The bracer spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21
The wand spellcraft: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (9) + 7 = 16

Now
Watching volk try to lift the wine
put your back into it volk!

When he fails
You're not very strong for a big, are you.

Shade doesn't even try to lift the wine. She'll carry as much loot as she can.

Well aware but it is a good healing item and the spell only effects the caster, Volk will gladly cast it if it means getting people back to health

" Well, Miss Strigala can no longer heal, so she will no longer make a happy face. And if we get attacked down the way to the Boss, then you, Miss Kertria, Miss Lilica and Ternock will die.. especially if they have an archer again. I know it can heal and healing is good. "

Volk moves the wand a bit, it takes him a few tries but he gets to activate it twice before the magic seems unable to bend to his methods... these are used on the previous named persons.

maybe it's an effective healing item, not a good one (little joke) :)

Volk Speaks in Halfling as he cringes at being called 'not very strong' The gaunt man with inset eyes, " I would hope.. I make up for it in other ways.. like learning this language when you told me too. I am weak.. so very weak.. I'm sorry. B-But I can take.. alot of abuse though! Tat accounts for something.. maybe? I-Ill try to get stronger.." Volk seemed even more emasculated, the last statement he said in common as he broke concentration between speaking and holding on to the wine.

LOL I see that, its an EVVIIIILLL item. Ternock 2 charges off the wand

Gaaa! What? Where am I? Where's old Gasben? Looking around with surprise and anger in his eyes. When he spots him, he will jump on him and rip out his throat and chew voraciously. Then jumps on the archer and does the same to him. After such a display. Ternock will grab the wand back from Volk and use it on himself.

While he waits for the healing magic to stitch his wounds. He will look to Volk, I thank you for saving my life... Though somehow I had two arrows in me... Pretty sure I was only shot once by the archer... Never the less, I realize it was my error. It was something new I felt I could do and I wasn't sure how it would work, but I knew it would help...

Ternock will look to where he knew he hit the water and then to the place he woke up. He continues to look back and forth with a look of confusion on his face... Which then turns to a grimace... then rage... He then speaks very slowly and his body gets very tense. Volk... Volk... Volk... Did you... Throw me?

Ternock thinks of it more as, this wand heals more than a standard cure light wand... So obviously, use the one that heals more. And Ternock has an ego, so why waste money on a wand that will heal less when you could buy this one that heals more and has a slight drawback.

a "slight" drawback! I'll bet smaug started this way. :D

Gramlag sees Volk strugle with lifting one of the boxes and moves to help him "These crates are heavy lad as i can see youve discovered, if we had some kind of cart or sled they can be easily pushed, I can lift one but ill tell you ill be slow the whole way back and that leaves a second one for you all to cary too"

as ternock started sputtering and flying about once more Gramlag smiled, good too see he is no worse for wear and when ternock pieced together how he arived where he awoke Gramlag laughed "yes Ternock the lad threw you, saved your life by doing it too, you would have drowned or become a pin coushon if he hadnt"

Gramlag deminstraits that he can lift one of the boxes with proper lifting technique, lifting with his dwarven legs he grunts and starts to move clearly as a slow place as the weight of the creat gets impeeds his movement "lets be done with bloody pier, the dock hands can clean the mess, if anyone would like to help with carying this id apriciate it but get the other crate first, let us get back to base and heal those who need it, and perhaps a bath for those less injured!"

dunno if relivent but im staggered as long as im carrying this crate unless someone helps me or if we can somehow find a way of pushing it along the ground withought ruining the crate the wine is in

oh ya totally sell the old longbow, no need for that now

Gramlag smiles as he carrys the crate back to their base, nothing like some good old manual labour after a fight got the blood running "this reminds me of my times with my father in the armory, if he wasnt teaching me how to fight we were learning how to forge armor"

Volk grunts and huffs as he barely carries the box with existence " Father.. parents , yes I remember them... Volk seems, confused slightly waving his emaciated arms. " I'm not all that strong either but I guess I can hold on to your gold if you want Ternock.. Why are you calling me Volk instead of your other name? You also seem less.. upset? "

Ternock telepathically speaks to Volk
Because your someone that can be counted on... and you saved my life, reguardless of how, I wouldn't be here talking in your mind if you hadn't. You deserve to be called by your real name.

Male Human Aetherkineticst 3 | HP 30/33 (3 NL) | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort +7 Ref +4 Will +2| CMD 13 | Init +3 | Perception +7 | 24/100 Evils

Volk muses on this fact. What the Dragon said was true, he did save his life, but was that not what companions did? Is that not what people who you want to be friends with did?

If that is the case then shouldn't you be calling.. Miss Strigala by her real name too? When you were dying she healed you. I have no capability to heal. Actually I thought you called people nicknames because you wanted to.. Without everyone's help people could have died more but no one did in the end. So wouldn't the best thing b to called everyone by their name? It is less confusing.

Strigala nods.

"All of this talk of armor and fathers reminds me of my father teaching me how to fight. All of those hours on drills on how to wear armor better and how to swing certain weapons while my mother stood there, pointing a crossbow at his head..." She sighs happily, enjoying the fond memories. "I wonder why he never taught me how to use the weapon?"

Male Dwarf Fighter/3; AC: 21; HP: 15/25; F: +4, R: +4, W: +2; Init: +3; Perc: +6, Dark vision 60 ft; Speed: 20 ft.

hearing comments of the upbrining of his companions Gramlag is reminded that his upbrining would be concidered rather plain in comparison to others. Strigala's comment did strike Gramlag's curiosity though "so id rather skim past the lads memories of his father, i can only imagin the scars that those events left on him. but you lass, do you mind if i ask why yer mother was pointing a weapon at yer dad whiel you two spent time together? im sure theres a reason and curiosity has gotten the best of me"

Ternock looks at Volk with a curious expression. Then continues the mind conversation.
Yes, I do name people different names because I want to... and now im choosing to call you by your real name. The thing is, you went out of your way and endangered yourself to save me. If Jiggles healed a dying team member that was lying next to her and she was able too. Then thats just expected of her. And thats the difference.

Oracle/2; AC: 18; HP: 17/17; F: +2, R: +4, W: +3; Init: -1; Perc: +2, Low-Light Vision; Speed: 30 ft.

Strigala smiles.

"My father is a full-blooded elf. That includes the elven view on time. And he's a bit lazy on some things, so he sometimes needed a reminder that a more human timescale is what he had to abide by..."

Kertria awakes not long after Bojask begins carrying her down the road, but whether he is just oblivious to this fact, or doesn't care, Bojask carries her all the way to the Gold Goblin.

Arriving back at the Gold Goblin, Saul is waiting all smiles and open arms.

"Thank goodness! I feared the worst when I sent Bojask."

Saul will listen to the parties tale of events as he cracks open each crate before giving them the rest of the week off.

"A minor curiosity though, I noticed you brought back to me four crates, but I only ordered three."

Saul opens up the last crate and looks inside, "Bleh, Absinthe, a whole crate of it too. Zlincher must have ordered this."

Saul shrugs, "Oh well, finders keepers. Why don't you all lug this down to Padomae's she'll probably snatch it up at half price. Consider it payment for your troubles, it should still sell well. "

The crate will sell for 750g

Volk wiped his brow once they finally reached the Gold Goblin. He was breathing and sweating harder than a pig in the slaughterhouse. Boxes.. were HEAVY. He listened to Saul, sort of intrigued in the massive amount of wine that the place would need, however as he continued the realization crept on him. He would HAVE TO MOVE THE BOX AGAIN.. the horror.

" We... We can do that later.. I'm really tired. But since we have the rest if the week off Boss are we allowed to.. roam around town? Also what type of person is Miss Padomae, is she your enemy too? Should we be worried about more attacks? " Volk tilted his head and slumped down along the crate.

"Padomae has never had issue with me personally. Even when the rest of the Crime Lords banded together she was never personally involved."

"When it comes to Padomae, only three things interest her, Drugs, Whoring, and Revenge; and I've made damn sure to never cross her."

"As for more attacks, I can't say for certain, but I imagine Zlincher will lick his wounds for at least a few days. So yeah, get out there, enjoy the town."

Also I forgot to mention, it's a Tuesday so the party has off until the following Monday, so 5 days.

Volk nodded he somehow respected how careful Saul was when it came to stepping on toes, " A whole five days.. I'm not even sure what to do with all that time. Does anyone have any particular things that COULD be done with all that time? Boss, what will you do with our group given so much leisure time? Did you not say that the Gold Goblin was lacking in employees? Does Miss Padomae worship Calistria like Miss Lilica.. actually what is Whoring... And- " Volk continues his onslaught of questions, seemingly at no end.

Volk wanted to.. Understand this world he was in and it seemed the less he knew the worse that happened.

"You do one job with decent pay then a good bit of time off, have to say i like this idea. I for one am going to take some time to send a letter to my father, I like to let hm know im ok and still kicking cuz i dont see him that much any more" Gramalag's head swam with the storys he should tell hiss father, as he contemplated what to do with his free time once he was done.

"dont worry about moving the box lad, your friendly neighborhood dwarf here will carry it to the miss Padomae. we dont mind the heavy liftin, just tag along to keep me company ok?" Gramlag said, happy to put to use what he saw as one of the gifts of being born as a dwarf.

"And im sure Saul has lots to do and not so much time to answer questions, though i may be able to cover a thing or two, bein a dwarf ive seen far more years than you have already" Gramlag hopped that this would slow the torrent of questions and he would try to answer what he could

Volk was clearly tired, yes but shook his head a he was being misunderstood. " N-no, I meant that we carry it later because we have little in the way of abilities and healing right now Mr Gramlag. As for the Boss.. the employee one is something I don't see you answering well... just being hired on. Or Miss Padomae. Or all the buildings around here... unless you are from Riddleport? Volk nods taking that wisdom into consideration. To his knowledge dwarves lived longer he thought, so what the man said may very well be true. " You keep talking of this father.. what is it like to have one? When I returned from the Darkness it was long after the killing. I forget what my father was like.. save for the screaming and begging.. I remember that part. I don't recall being that close.. then again he was always there I think.. I can't tell.. Gramlag took a moment to gather his thoughts, he wanted to give a good answer to the boy about what a father is like, if the lad had children one day knowing your role is good "well im not quite sure what to tell you exactly, not something ive really thought about really. My father was a strong man, in both body and convictions, but he didnt have to always have his way, he would listen and argue with me and if i had a good argument he would conceed defeat. I always knew that he would be there to help me when i needed him growing up even though he spent many long hours in the forge filling orders to keep a roof over our heads and food in our belly. Me mom was an energetic worry wort always checking in on the two of us makin sure we were ok. when i got a little older my father taught me how to swing an axe and how to forge metal. i never wass good at making weapons but i was quite adept at making armour, thats where i got my affinity for wieldin these shields of mine, father thought i was odd in my weapon choice too but didnt begrudge me it.... im sorry im ramblin, did that cover your question or did you want something else?"

Gramlag realized he had been carrying on for a little bit and was unsure if he was even covering what volk was asking, volk had certainly possited a question Gramlag had never thought to answer before

Male Human Aetherkineticst 3 | HP 30/33 (3 NL) | AC 17 T 13 FF 14 | Fort +7 Ref +4 Will +2| CMD 13 | Init +3 | Perception +7 | 24/100 Evils

Volk listened to the rendition and his face contorted slightly at the end as the tale went on, as if he were thinking real hard, trying to understand the wording. This eventually ended it what Gramlag would assume as 'disappointment'. " Mr Gramlag if what you say is true. I can never be a father or responsibly make offspring. I am sure, your mother loved your father but as you said he was strong, he was caring, he could provide for you two and himself. He was able to teach you, to listen, to watch. He was able to.. understand you and I am sure he was attractive to your race. I have.. none of those qualities. Not a one, I cannot expect to be loved, for I am not strong. I may have employment now but it is dangerous and possibly non-constant; I have proven I cannot even protect my..friends. I have nothing to teach as I do not know much of this world or even think I knew much before. I look as Miss Lilica said like a different race.. and ugly; Miss Strigala, Miss Lilica, Miss Kertria and Miss Shade surely just tolerate my presence. I will most likely not be loved. I guess I am content upon that.. and I watch at least. If I can simply be around. Unless Father is something you grow into? "

Volk stayed slumped against the crate pressing his knees up against his chest as he often sat normally curling his body in. He was still quite exhausted.

Gramlag heard volk speak ill of himself and it made his heart drop, while odd the lad seems to have a healthy respect for friends and surly other redeeming qualitys "lad yer awefully hard on yerself. fer one thing women admire more than physical strength, wizards find love all the time do they not? certainly employment can be an issue but me gut tells me riddleport isnt the place to raise children anyway so you would be looking to work in another town where perhaps they can use your skills in less dangerous fields. you care for your firends you dove strait into those churning waters to save Ternock and thats bravery at its core. and finally you care too much for these scares that mar your body, the body is a shell for the heart, and love comes from the heart, given time im sure youll find someone who shares that notion and all the others that overlook you dont know what they are missing. now your exausted, i think we could all use a round in a hot tub, does Saul have one of those or shal we venture outdoors?"

self respect is something everyone should have, Gramlag hoped that Volk gains a little from the words that he said and will think on his comments

Strigala sighs happily and rubs her own back once they've gotten the crates back to the casino. She then shakes her head in mirth as the idea of enjoying the town comes up.

"At the very least, we should try to find out something we can use about this guy who keeps coming after us."

She stretches a bit, then considers.

"Saul, do you have any idea why he would be making such of a concentrated effort to take you down right now? Attacking every day like this is definitely a sign of someone who isn't going to let up."

At Strigala's questioning a devilish grin crosses Saul's face.

"He hasn't been. Atleast not today."

"OK ok, so listen. The other day when you all were attacked by Rhodes. Well as far as anyone outside we know, Rhodes is dead."

"Well problem with that is, Rhodes owes Croat quite a great deal of gold, something like four or five hundred he's been paying on the past year."

"Now here in Riddleport it's customary when you kill someone who owes another Crime Lord a debt, if you don't have their permission to do so, to pay them the debt owed."

"So when Rhodes dies, Croat says Zlincher was merely arranging his death. While Zlincher says he legitimately thought Rhodes would kill you all, and he is refusing to pay up."

"So late last night Croat sends me a message telling me that Zlincher has a big shipment coming into port, and not only that, but he's sending down Radjikar Faye to secure it, Zlincher's very own uncle!"

"The opportunity was just too much to pass up."
