Draklor Ribiera |
"Indeed, I think you could make an excellent Pathfinder or Eagle Knight," Draklor says warmly. "Your keen mind and powers, combined with your and Grishan's desire to seek out lost truths and right wrongs, make you more than suitable for whatever path you choose."
Etna Luul |
"It will be fine I promise! You got some good people working under you so I'm sure things will work out! We pathfinders will look out for one another!"
She seems a little sad for the guy but gives a slight shrug.
"Welp, that all went better then expected. Only thing I got was a finger prick. I wish all of my missions were the equivalent of a paper cut! Anyways Junia you just got to remember that uncovering ancient secrets and tombs is amazing, but you also got to look cool doing it. I based my entire fighting style off looking cool and so far it's served me well. Have you thought about striking a pose while Grishan begins to manifest?"
Etna will begin to go on about how to best look awe inspiring during a fight as she walks with the rest of everyone.
Grandmaster TOZ |
Junia beams at the compliments, the sorrow of the previous encounter seemingly forgotten. She leads the way out of the Precipice district, before pausing and sheepishly letting the Pathfinders lead the way to the Grand Lodge.
Venture Captain Drandle Dreng is clearly surprised to see Junia still with you all. "Er, is there a problem? We're still within the lady's curfew, I think..." Junia steps forward and snaps a salute to the elder VC.
"Mission complete, sir! The haunting of the Drownyard is over, and I would like to submit an application to join the Pathfinder Society for myself and my companion." Dreng blinks owlishly, before jumping up in a surprising moment of spryness.
"A wonderful idea!" he exclaims, saluting back snappishly. "We should go discuss the appropriate time to begin your training with your mother..." He pauses. "Oh, this will probably be a very difficult conversation, what with everything and..." He massages his temple, then looks at the rest of the party. "OH! And before that, your report!"
Etna Luul |
"A salute is a little well done, but not half bad. Would have been cooler if Grishan suddenly popped out as well doing one." Etna will mumble before giving a thumbs up to Drandle.
"It all went actually pretty well. Got surprised by some ghosts before we took a walk through the garden. Met some plant guy with the nicest beard before he lead us to meet this vegetable person. She seems a little crazy but might just need some sunlight. We were hoping to get some help for her family as well. Then we found some unfortunate souls who died, need to get them back to the city for burial. Finally we helped put a rather creepy little girl to rest! One last thing though, we might need some help getting something into the right hands. We found some... documents that need to be given to the right hands."
Ashara Lethani |
Ashara sighs again:"There's a Ghoran and a few of its seeds living Arboretum Arcanis. Unfortunately we found out whatever tainted the Drownyard is influencing the living as well as the dead down there. Plant life is twisted and sentient plant creatures are deeply changed. Therefore the ghoran isn't very stable and it took all of our diplomatic arts to avoid conflict. They need help, but we'll need to use caution when dealing with them.
Then there's the matter of the documents. They are a significant find with deeply unsettling political ramifications for the Society. Once you'll have read them you'll understand. All things considered we think the decemvirate should decide how to deal with the reports.
As a final note I warmly suggest we recruit Junia as a Pathfinder. She'd be a valuable asset for the Society as a whole"
"Lucky" Hennet Starstrike |
Hennet nods.
Everythin she said, and I second the recruitment of Junia. I think she would make an excellent addition to our ranks once she's finished her training and passed her confirmation. Her ideals and goals align with ours rather nicely. I would be willing to sign off on a recommendation myself if need be.
Grandmaster TOZ |
For once, the venture captain seems to listen intently to each of the agents as they report the findings. "Wonderful! A ghoran, you say? Haven't heard of those in a long time. If ever!" He smiles widely. "And sensitive documents, I can only imagine what they might contain. Still, time enough for that in a minute." He looks to Junia. "I suppose we'll want to get you home before all that. And discuss your future with the society, yes? Although..." He squints slightly. "You did mention a companion, yes?"
Junia puts on a serious expression. Then she breathes deep. "Yes. Grishan Maldris." Dreng jumps slightly as the phantom boy steps into view. "Hullo, Venture Captain." he intoned, nodding slightly.
"Now that is something you don't see every day." Dreng wastes no time with astonishment. "Suppose you want to explain this, and how it relates to the documents you were dancing around?" His smile is easy, but a seriousness is in his eyes.
Ashara Lethani |
Ashara formally intones:"venture captain Drandle Dreng meet Grishan Maldris. His body died inside the Drownyard but his spirit endures and tied itself to Junia's. Part of the reson for visiting the Drownyard today was allowing Grishan to recover something he left in there. As you might have guessed, Grishan is the late brother of Major Colson Maldris. The documents you now hold are his notes about events and people of interest for Major Maldris. As I mentioned some of the content is pretty delicate"
Grandmaster TOZ |
The venture captain pours over the notes, his brow waggling in fuzzy waves as the revelations roil from mundane to astounding. "And you're sure...bah, of course you're sure these are accurate. Maybe not enough to stand in court, but the court of public opinion, certainly..." He rises and bows to Junia and Grishan. "Rest assured, the Society will handle these findings as responsibly as we can. You've all done a fine service in the pursuit of knowledge and truth." He smiles warmly. "Now let's get Junia home, until the Grand Lodge can be her new one!"
The Lady Dacilane is happy to see the party return so soon, and glad to hear that Junia no longer feels the need to explore the Drownyard. She is much less pleased to hear her daughter's intention to apply with the Pathfinder Society. Venture Captain Dreng spends a loud hour discussing the possibility before exiting with an impish smile and wink to J.
The release of the news sets the political scene of Absalom into a storm of controversy, but the full effects of the decades-old secrets are not immediately apparent. Each of the Pathfinders receives a missive from Dreng, thanking them again and reporting that the haunting of the Drownyard has indeed been settled, and teams are having a much easier time exploring the necropolis below.
Congratulations on completing School of Spirits! My apologies for the delay of the conclusion and having to wrap it up so quickly. Thanks for playing and I hope to see you in another game down the line!
