Hennet pauses and holds out a hand to motion for the rest to stop.
Did you guys feel that? I think there's a haunt here... This place is a lot more restless than when I was here last. We should be ready for anything.

He pulls one of the vials from the shed from his bandolier and considers opening it.
Move action to retrieve the haunt siphon from bandolier.

Sorry, but just to be clear - currently, Draklor and Hennet have the only two siphons, which they have both now pulled out, and if they weather whatever that thing is about to throw at us they have one more chance to use it on their next turn?

Table Maps | Passing the Torch

Yes,as the first to mention them, Draklor and Hennet are the ones carrying the siphons. By the time their next turn comes around, the haunt will have already activated, but if it continues to manifest they will be able to use the siphons to try and end it.

For future questions, I would prefer to use the Discussion thread to keep this focused on in-character action.

The boy Hennet and Draklor saw in the chaos appears again, seeming to step out of Junia's body like a ghost. In full view, you can see he looks to be just about teenaged, but his cheeks are sunken and his eyes hollow. His body is clearly incorporeal, tinged green and from the knees down trails into nothingness. "Hullo everyone. My name is Grishan. I was with Junia when the yard fell, and I stayed with her as long as I could." His ghostly face breaks into a shy, childlike smile. "Then I kept on staying with her after I should have gone on." Despite his expression, his voice is even, and slightly distant, as if he were speaking from much farther away than he seems.

He bounds over to the ghost, the worries about the haunt quickly gone, and says "What a pleasure to meet you, Grishan! My name is Henrikuaxian. "And...there's something I need here. Or, not here, but at the Arboretum Arcanis. My brother asked me to gather information for him. But I never got to give it to him after the yard collapsed and trapped us underground."

Junia speaks up at this. "I survived in the crypt, but Grishan didn't have the ring like I did. I could only watch..."

"I tried to protect Junia, until you found her. I don't remember everything, but I know I need something from the Arboretum."

"Well, we're already here, but I really want to help Grishan first. He's done so much for me, and now I finally get to do something for him!" With that, the party sets out across the Precipice District. The trip is short, and you see the crystal dome of the Arboretum long before you reach it. The protective housing is cracked and broken, and dark clouds fill the upper reaches, crackling with silent purple lightning. Buildings can be seen inside, individual greenhouses segregating sections with wider open spaces between.

DC14 Know:Local or History:
The clouds are magical effects placed by the wizard Beldrin when he built the Arboretum to water the plants in the open gardens. The sundering of the dome by the earthquake warped the magic, and the clouds now disperse acidic rain intermittently.

DC18 Know:Arcana:
The magical acid rain is both corrosive and corruptive to living creatures. While it is not a threat to the party due to the long exposure time required, any remaining plants within likely have been transformed into dangerous creatures.

The foyer is in shambles. Debris and dead or dying plant matter cover the mosaic-tiled floor. A gnarled black thorn tree still clings to life in a giant masonry planter. Two massive skylights in the ceiling afford a view of low-hanging, purple and black clouds above; the crystal dome is completely obscured. Piles of rubble obscure most of what once may have been doorways, but a door to the west is free from debris.

"I remember." Grishan says quite suddenly. "I placed it here. Somewhere. In a red lion statue. But...I don't remember where the statue is."

Henrik nods his head at Draklor's question. "Those storm clouds appear to be producing magical acid rain - not harmful in the short-term, so we shouldn't be at any risk from it, but it can be really nasty over time. It is actually a corruptive substance, in addition to a mild corrosive, so it wouldn't surprise me in the slightest that anything that managed to survive until now would be very dangerous. We need to be very careful when approaching anything living, even plants, as any of it could have been transformed into a dangerous creature." "Good day Majordomo Pip. How much is the fee? What does it cover? Who is the manager in here? We are in an official mission for the Pathfinder society, maybe we can get an arrangement."

Diplomacy: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (11) + 8 = 19

"The fee is just a small drop of blood." The small misshapen creature raises one finger as the tip narrows down into a needle-like point. "Our ongoing research will benefit greatly from your samples. As for the manager, the Master Gardener is available to answer such questions. After you have paid the fee, of course."

Baphos is unable to get a read on the Majordomo, likely due to his radically different creature type.

"Um, all right, provided it is only a small drop." Draklor extends his left arm, palm up, and squeezes his eyes shut. His tail has fluffed up and his ears are flat against his head.

To the others he messages, "Unless anyone is averse to this sort of thing, which I fully understand, it would be wise to comply. We should be able to cover most of the place in this way."

"You want our blood. For research. And pray tell... what would this research entail?" asks Ashara clearly not inclined to allow the strange creature to take any of her or Junia's blood.

"I do apologize, as that information is confidential. I assure you that it advances our understanding of other races." The small creature climbs out of the planter and will pierce Draklor's proffered arm, a droplet of blood traveling though the transluscent finger and visibly flowing through a clear vein to the nodule on his back.

1 point of damage to Draklor, but no other effects that you notice.

Junia looks apprehensive, whispering back to Draklor and the party. "Is this safe? I'm not sure we should trust...it."

Lucky looks quizzically at the mandragora and nervously runs his hand along the pommel of his rapier.
What exactly... are you researching?

He turns to Junia and Grishan and shrugs.
Do you two know anything about this? I have to say, I'm quite shocked. We never found anything like this the first time we were down here...

"Ow, ow, ow," Draklor mutters. That was significantly more than a drop. I have half a mind to demand it back, but what good'll that do?

"Well, I'd be lying if I said it didn't hurt a little, but it's nothing immediately threatening. I dunno if we could take it in a fight, or if we'd want to, but its probably better to stay on it's good side," he messages the others. "If anyone's really averse to the idea, we'll try to work around it, talk him down, perhaps."

Henrik looks confused for a second, taking in this scene. "Guys, this is... fascinating! Do you know what that is? That's a mandragora, I'm sure of it, but they are not usually this kind to people in their domains. My understanding is that they usually attack on sight anything that comes into it's domain. That one would talk to us at all is incredible. "

Henrik also responds to Draklor's message

Response to Draklor:

"Be very careful, I'm not sure if I trust it. These things are born by soaking in the ichor of fiends, they aren't usually very pleasant. This whole situation seems weird. Be on your guard."

Turning to the mandragora, the gnome says "Thank you for the warm welcome, Majordomo Pip, it is an honor to so converse with one of your people. I confess, I'm a little uncomfortable with a donation of blood; would you be willing to trade for anything else, for the honor of a tour of the facilities?"

"I am sorry, we do not currently have a need for other currency at this time, sir. As you can see, the fee is a minor thing, and I am unable to budge on this matter." The plant man's expression didn't change, but it was hard to determine if that was because it couldn't change or not.
