To follow up with Snaggletooth's question, who is watching after him? Enemy territory.

Leo will volunteer.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Snaggletooth nods to Leo. "Okay, rest now. Will wake you if trouble comes." Then he assumes a watchful position as the others lay down to rest.

Rev

Spoiler:
If nobody grabs the rest of the silver, Snaggletooth will grab a couple of more handfuls and the other gem while everyone sleeps. (another 15 sp is probably all he can fit into his belt pouch. that makes his totals 20gp and 25sp, with both gems) Unless he can find a usable backpack among the clutter, or a sack....

Snaggletooth

Spoiler:

No backpack. One bedraggled sack with a big rip in it.

The first watch passes uneventfully.

Snaggletooth ** spoiler omitted **

The first watch passes uneventfully.

Woken up Leo proceeds to take up the watch and looking around at the money and gems openly mutters.

"Could really use a bag of holding for this stuff..." he then proceeds to focus on guard duty until the next watch.

The rest of the time passes uneventfully and you wake, fully refreshed in the evening. You realise that for all that months seem to have passed, you left the monastery on the trail of Kneebiter a mere two days ago. Experience has honed your skills and given you new insights into your powers and you feel ready to face whatever lies ahead.

All hp, surges and powers are fully restored. Action points re-set to 1.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

As the group prepares to move out, Snaggletooth takes his ripped sack over to Perigia, "Can you magic this rip? I not have backpack to carry things and this bag ripped. Can you fix with some magic, maybe?"

The doors leading out of the Tower storerooms are substantial and open on to the bottom of a flight of stairs. At the top, you see a further set of doors. Clustering behind them, you can hear voices.

Please note that Photobucket will not let me edit maps at the moment. This is intensely annoying. However, I'm posting this here for you to take a look at. Do me a favour and imagine that you can't see the room beyond the door at the moment. The lighter area indicates the stairs you're standing on. You're approaching from the north.

Note where you would like to be and what you are doing and I'll update as soon as possible.

MAP

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Snaggletooth motions that he is going to check it out. He holds a finger in front of his mouth, the universal symbol for "shut up and don't move!" He then moves silently up the stairs and sneaks a peek in the other room to get a layout and then returns to the bottom of the steps silently to report to the others.

stealth [d20+12, 27] perception [d20+9, 28] stealth [d20+12, 25]

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Rev

Spoiler:
just FYI, Snaggletooth had an cool idea but lacks the necessary tools to implement it. He is passively looking for string or wire to set up a tripwire trap eventually. So if he notices some with his passive perception, he will discretely grab it.

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

Fairwind shakes her head and smiles at the bravado of the kobold.

Photobucket is operational again.

Snaggletooth somehow manages to sneak up to the door and back without being seen.

His report is intriguing to say the least. There are two humans in the room, armed with quarterstaffs and wands. They seem to be alert, but failed to notice the kobold.

Running across the length of the room is a shimmering curtain of light. Two chairs sit behind it, facing the door and the only other exit lies through a spiral staircase going up from the eastern wall.

Now I really do want to know where you all are and what you're doing.

Put me at C7

Brujo slowly draws his blade and prepares for what's to come.

C9 please

Caine draws his blade and assumes a guard stance.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

B10, his recent near-death experience has made the kobold wary of rushing into combat. he will follow the others in and setup sneak attacks, "being sneaky", but will not charge blindly in. do you need a init check?

Put Brujo at C8 since C7 isn't part of the map. Correct me if you want to be somewhere different.

Oh and roll init as well please. Thanks for the reminder Snaggle.

Leo employs a daily utility prayer of Sacred Circle that effects himself any ally within a close burst of 3 granting himself and them a +1 power bonus to AC until the end of the encounter and with my luck we might not have to fight at all, but better safer than sorry!

Out of curiosity if a rogue gets to act before anyone else would their foes be considered flat footed? Just wondering due to the pvp podcasts

Female Genasi Firesoul Wizard 7

Perigia will take A9. 1d20+4=10 for initative.
Edit: Make that 12 thanks to the good commander.

Rogues and only rogues (as far as I know) have combat advantage on enemies they act before in the combat. PHB117, "First Strike"

MAP

Please note that I guessed where Perigia and Snaggletooth might be. Please amend in your next posts if you wish to be otherwhere. Also please note that the door at the to is closed and you therefore do not have line of sight or effect.

Snaggletooth - as stated, for the first round a rogue is considered to have combat advantage against any enemy who has not acted.

Which way are the doors closed? Do they open in or out? I just want to make sure I can get to Tev this round and still attack. If I have to stop to open the door, isn't that a move action or something? Or does tactical movement start once I open the door? Can I get a ruling here?

As for position, I said B10 originally, (and you have me there as well) but that was before I rolled top init. I will start at either spot since fate has dictated that I charge in again.

Opening the door is a minor action. They open inwards, or your sneakage would not have been possible. As you hadn't said where you were after you sneaked, I'm prepared to allow you to be behind the doors (at F9).

I do not want to be a "cheater" and will start at B10 since I said Snaggletooth wanted to hang back. I will delay until Cronin or one of the others opens the door. (but before Tev or Pal goes)

EDIT: Please delete the Snaggletooth at D9. We only need one Snaggletooth. :) and now the one at F9 and put me back at B10

I wasn't actually inviting you to cheat. It's my fault. You posted quite clearly. I was mislead as I wasn't sure quite what happened after you'd sneaked there and back. In which case, you do start at B10. In any event none of you know where Palagro or Tevinwerd are now, as you can't see through the door...

Male Kobold Rogue 6

We should have a general idea of where they are as I scouted it out earlier. Just not exactly where they are. :P

M Goliath Cleric 14 / Storm Speaker / Druid

Cronin climbs the steps (F8), opens the door, and states calmly, "We come to seek the Lady."

What the heck? It might work. But in case it doesn't, Cronin readies a Command spell on the first opponent to make an attack or explicit threat.

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

Seems very sensible to me. IT is up in Ashenport BTW. :)

"Good luck with that. From all I hear, she's hard to find." answers Palagro, perfectly civilly.

"And about to get a good deal harder, I'd say," adds Tevinwerd.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

what the heck does that mean? are these guys fighting us or not?

Caine joins Cronin at F9

"That is not saying that you do not know where the Lady is. What say we help each other, yes? An equivalent exchange. We seek directions to the Lady. Do you know where we can find her?"

Diplomacy 1d20+9=24

For Rev

Spoiler:
Prior to this encounter, Caine made the following prayer to Torm:

"Lord of Host, grant your humble servant
the boon of inspiration that others
may take heart in the darkness.

"Allow him to be a beacon
from whom others may take hope

"Let me be one with my fellows
that our collective efforts
will achieve something greater than ourselves

"I ask this in our Mighty Name, let it be so."

Bruo waits and watches two new comers

"So what brings you two down here"

The men smile at each other and then at Commander Caine.

"Well, we're open to negotiation I expect." Palagro sounds little doubtful and he doesn't lower his quarterstaff.

"Yes - we really are. Step this way. The boss might like to meet you." Tevinwerd shifts his weight a little and nods at the glowing curtain.

It's not their turn yet, they can really only talk at this point.

MAP

Male Kobold Rogue 6

I am going to give Pal his turn and if he attacks, I will move up to G9 and attack Tev.

Snaggletooth strains his ears to hear of any menace in their voices.

Snaggletooth isn't that accustomed to listening to nuances in human voices, but if he had to make a call, he'd say the men sounded more amused than anything.

Fairwind and Cronin also pick up a distinct sense of amusement, while Leo and Perigia are both sure the men are sharing some kind of private joke.

F Half-elf Ranger 4 (multiclass - Rogue)

Fairwind says, "Y'all've got a good sense o' yoomer. Lessee if we can't straighten things out."

"Look - you can see I'm defenceless."

Palagro steps through the curtain. As he does so, his robes, wand and quarterstaff disappear, leaving him entirely naked.

"Ahem... do excuse me..."

The man leaps behind a chair and waves his hands in the air to show how free of weapons as well as clothes he is.

"What are your plans for the Tower?" he asks.

Snaggletooth?
Tevinwerd
Perigia
Leo

Male Kobold Rogue 6

Snaggletooth, not understanding this situation, is staying back until the parlay works or the battle begins. He whispers to Fairwind, "I not like this. Who are these men who live with eightlegs and dead things? I stay back until we know more. Maybe they not like kobolds. I stay here. If trouble starts, give a yell, and I come running. Kobolds no good at talking."

If we haven't started battle, I will delay until the end of the round. (to see if these guys are on the level)

EDIT: I changed my mind. I do nothing this round. I stay around the corner, out of view. But I don't delay anymore.
