On Leo's turn since I might not be online then

"Kelemvor grant me strength to resist these foes!" Leo chants.

Using second wind if thats okay since he's currently dazed and if he still gets a save at the end of his turn rolled an 11 so hopefully he'll be back to so-so normal next round!

Point of Order, Rev- which of the chests are shut again? I may need to do some acrobatics my next turn since my chosen prey got the heck out of dodge.

They're all open except the one in the middle which has a large lock on it. Trust me when I tell you those damn chests are making life extremely difficult for the bad guys as well.

Slowed Condition ends 1d20=18

Guarding Attack 1d20+8=23, Damage 2d10+4=9

AC of Fairwind gains a +3 bonus

"Fairwind! Pull back!"

C1 explodes in a shower of darkness, blinding Caine and Fairwind. Leo breathes deeply and gathers his strength for the coming battle.

"Gorram creepers..."

Fairwind stabs at where her honed senses tell her another creeper should be. Her first blow misses, but the second draws a satisfied grunt from the half-elf as it lands true. She shakes her head hard and her vision clears.

"Y'all just wait up a second. We're not done," she adds grimly.

Twin Strike at C5 (1d20 5=13, 1d8 2=10, 1d20 5=24, 1d8 2=3).

Save v blindness (1d20=13)

Creeper 2 takes advantage of Leo's absorption in the illusory butterflies and stabs hard before shifting towards Mirth, still smouldering.

Creeper 2 v Leo (1d20 9=26, 1d4 4=6, 1d6=1). 7hp damage to Leo

Creeper 3 tries to follow suit and misses, as the paladin shifts his weight to follow one of the insects with his eyes and unknowingly avoids the blow. With a faint hiss of annoyance, the dark one backs away and swats out the flames from Mirth's attack.

Creeper 4 immolates as the flames from Mirth's spell devour it. It explodes upwards into black nothingness, blinding both Leo and Brujo. Leo and Brujo are both blinded.

Creeper 5 risks an attack from Fairwind as it sidles towards Commander Caine, hoping gain an advantage over the wily warlord. Using Shadow Step to increase AC by +4 v OAs.. To her unconcealed annoyance, the ranger misses. "Gorram."

Creeper 5 v Caine (1d20 11=31, 1d4 4=5, 1d6=1). Crit on Commander Caine, 14hp damage.

Mirth Emberhand wrote:

Good catch. Edited above. It's made things somewhat worse for Leo and Brujo in the short term mind you.

Off to bed. posting because I have no clue when I'll get up

Catching a glimpse of the cloud of darkness blinding Caine and Fairwind jog the elfs mind. "Hells if I'm gonna get caught in that again", but before anything can be done the creeper is devoured in flame coateing everything in darkness.

With that he falls away and closer to the entrance

"To think I'd have to rely on this" Focusing his mind flames creep up the left side of his body and he lanches a a wave of energy back at the creeper.

Move to M11. Changing Ray on c2 1d20+8=23-5=18 vs. Reflex; Damage 1d8+5=11 force damage, and he's dazed until the end of my next turn.

Save vs Blindness 20, CRITICAL SIGHT!

Male Kobold Rogue 6

move action- j15, i14, j13, i12, shifty free action, i11. riposte strike (+12 vs AC, 32, CRITICAL! Woo-hoo! 1d4+4+2d8+3=4+4+10+3 =21hp damage and setup for counter if C2 attacks me)

Snaggletooth moves around the chests, torches and allies to get into position to hit a creeper in the back. "Where is Kneebiter?" He yells at the creeper. "Where is my friend??"

Female Tiefling Wizard 6
Snaggletooth wrote:

I may be incorrect, but I think that in 4e, you can move through an ally's square. Sorry for interjecting - practicing up for playing DM! ;D

EDIT.
Mirth's right. You can move through allies. In any case, I put you where I guess you wanted to be, which is flanking C2.

The creeper hisses as Snaggletooth's dagger sinks into its back.

"Your friend is ettercap food. They like to play." it rasps spitefully in response to the kobold's question.

The gnomes giggle hysterically and fire more bolts of scintillating butterfly-laden doom. Gn 1 aims at Fairwind, but the ranger shrugs away the illusion. Snaggletooth, alas, cannot drag his eyes away in time and sways helplessly as he looks at the pretty circling patterns in the air.

Scintillating bolt (Fort). On hit target is dazed. Gn2 v Snaggletooth (1d20 9=24, 1d6 4=7). 7hp damage to Snaggletooth and he's dazed. Save ends.

Female Tiefling Wizard 6

"Ettercaps are not the only ones with a taste for play, little child of darkness. Tell me, dost thee die as a guttering torch, or as a coward beset and gnawed by thine own nightmares?"

Taking a step away from the smouldering creeper, Mirth smirks scornfully at him and, with a casual gesture, takes his own fears and turns them against him.

Shift L10, Illusory Ambush vs. Will on C2: 1d20+8=16, 1d6+5=11, if it hits C2 now -2 to attacks til end of Mirth's next turn.

Mirth's taunts and the nightmares she conjures are too much for the creeper, which explodes in the now familiar shower of darkness, blinding Snaggletooth.

"Do they never learn?" From behind Mirth, Cronin sounds resigned. It's not entirely clear if he's referring to the creepers or his companions.

Brujo doesn't allow his blindness to impair his aim as corruscating blue flame jets into C3. As his mutating light leaves his blade, his sight clears. C2 died before you got to it Brujo, so I changed your target to C3.

Cronin moves alongside the tiefling and aims a blast of divine fury at C5, looking around at his variously stricken companions before waggling a finger at Snaggletooth. "Trust in Selune little one."

Snaggletooth can make an immediate save either versus the daze or the blindness.

Leo fingers sightlessly at his holy symbol and it suddenly blazes with light!

Employs his holy symbol's daily power that immediately interrupts allowing a saving throw I believe against the effect and grants him a +5 bonus to that save since he's currently blind it effects Leo and rolls a 12+5 for 17 to cure his blindness.

Male Kobold Rogue 6

uh, blindness of course. I can handle being dazed for a round. save=13

Snaggletooth looks over at Cronin as his eyes clear, "I can see again! You thank the Moon Lady for me, Cro-nin. But I still feel woozy from nasty gnome's spell. Room is spinning."

Blindness condition ends 1d20=10

Caine blinks away the darkness and sees his opponent. He wastes no time hacking away at it.

Warlord's Strike Attack 1d20+8=25, Damage 2d10+4=17

All who attack C5 gains +3 bonus to damage until end of my next turn.

Kelemvor clears his servant's sight and Caine continues to clobber the nearest creeper. Fairwind shifts out of range and deftly hurls two daggers at the creeper, bloodying it.

Shift to I-12 then I-11 then straight up to F-11 and using Bolstering Strike on Gn#2 employs divine challenge on C#5, attack is +9 and rolled a 9 for a total of 18 vs its AC doing 1d8+4 damage if hits rolled a 4+4 for 8pts of damage

Leo sidesteps quickly before leaping towards one of the gnomes hoping by clearing the way to the creeper he had been fighting would allow the others to engage the creeper with ranged attacks.

Apologies for the delay folks - houseguest.

Leo's attack startles the gnome and it can't evade the blow.

Gn2 is bloodied. Leo gets 2 temp hp.

The remaining creepers move with the swiftness of their shadowy world as they maneuver into positions where they can do the most damage.

Shadow step - they are at AC24 against the OAs they attract and gain CA themselves at the end of their moves.

C3 manages to sneak past Snaggletooth but his aim is poor and his attack misses.

Snaggletooth is dazed and doesn't get OAs

C5 eases around Caine's bulk and attacks Fairwind with much greater success.
C3 v Fairwind (1d20 11=20, 1d4 4=8, 1d6=1). 9hp damage to Fairwind.

Posting before I hit the sack

The arcane fire seems to calmly burn on and arounf the moon elf. Almost as if he's in control of it...

Changing ray on C3, if C3 dies before my turn feel free to amend, 1d20+8=25 vs Reflex; Damage 1d8+5=8 force damage and he's slowed until the end of my next turn

Rev

Spoiler:

If you need to amend just don't target the gnomes. As seen in the past Brujo tries to spare certain people.

Female Tiefling Wizard 6

Preemptive posting as well, feel free to amend if necessary. Mirth prefers to target bloodied creatures because of Bloodhunt. If attacked in melee, she will use Sly Dodge to gain a +3 to her AC.

The tiefling woman gestures again, fingers flickering in patterns of arcane geometry, attempting to assail the creeper that bedevils Fairwind with his darkest fears.

Illusory Ambush on C5. 1d20+8=26 vs Will, 1d6+5=6 psychic damage. Move to M10.

Anyone in need of healing?

By my count I'm down 23 with 2 temporary hp, Caine has taken 14, Snaggletooth has taken 7 and Fairwind 9, i'd say heal yourself first then the others but its your choice

Although his attack misses, Snaggletooth manages to clear his mind of illusory butterflies.

Tutting with annoyance, the gnomes shift around.

Gnome 1 darts between the torchstand and the open chest to fire more illusions at Fairwind. Large, multicoloured rats assail the ranger and she swats unavailingly at them.
Scintillating Burst(Fort) - on hit target is dazed (save ends) (1d20 9=27, 1d6 4=6). 6hp damage to Fairwind, dazed. Save ends.

Gnome 2 chuckles as an impossibly huge hornet appears out of nowhere to attack Leo.
Scintillating Bolt (Fort) - on hit target is dazed (save ends) (1d20 9=23, 1d6 4=7). 7hp damage to Leo, dazed, save ends.

Mirth shakes her head and responds in kind, sending an image of flaming doom towards C5. The creeper can't avoid it and hisses slightly as illusory flame engulfs it. The room is now filled with illusions for those who care to believe in such things.

Brujo adds his own all-too-real flame to the battle, wrapping tendrils of blue energy coursing into C3.

Cronin's response is even simpler. Holy symbol held high, he invokes Selune once more and divine light sluices into C5. Warily, the cleric backs himself through the door, after a brief nod at Fairwind to indicate that Selune's blessing is with her.
Lance of Faith(Ref) v C3 (on hit ally gains 2 bonus on next attack v target) (1d20 7=24, 1d8 6=8). Fairwind gets a +2 to her next attack v C5.

Bracing himself, Commander Caine hacks down hard and is rewarded, briefly, with the sight of a familar exposion of darkness before his vision goes again.

Fairwind and Caine are both blinded.

Spoiler:

well, if you like it so much.... Snaggletooth, if he is not under a condition effect from C3, will shift away, to h12, then north to G2 and attack him with a riposte strike (d20+10, 23, d4+4, 7hp, setup for an interrupt)

"Magic gnomes very bad and don't explode when you kill them."

rev

Spoiler:

also if you need it, OA, d20+10 vs AC, 22, d4+4, 8 hp and he averts his eyes as he hits to avoid being blinded.

Male Half Elf Paladin 6th

In case I'm offline I'll post leo's actions now, he only gets one action because of being dazed so employs Eyebite on Gnome#2 and rolls a natural 20 vs its Will doing 1d6+4 psychic damage so 10pts and for the save rolled a 12 I believe thats all Leo can do this round. Sorry forgot he gets to roll an additional 1d6 damage thanks to his holy symbol and the implement keyword so thats a 1 for a total of 11pts of psychic damage

Infuriated Leo gazes straight at the gnome even with the illusions swarming the room his eyes narrow with rage.
"To Kelemvor with you!" he growls as unseen to everyone other than the gnome Leo's eyes blaze with light shining directly at the gnome as waves of divine power flash out in an instant and disappear almost immediately...

If the gnome survived this Leo is effectively invisible to him until the end of Leo's next turn

Is anyone else having trouble seeing the grid coordinates or is it just me? Photobucket is gradually eating more and more of the edges of the map.

Pre-emptive posting is fine by me as long as you don't feel you have to post pages of possible options. Since much of 4e is highly tactical, it's not always the most practical thing to do, but any of you are welcome to do so at any time.

The gnome looks startled as Leo vanishes from his sight. Clearly this is unfair tactics on the part of the paladin.

The last creeper hisses and moves to where it can do most damage, stabbing viciously at illusion wielding Mirth, fanaticism writ large on its face followed shortly by satisfaction as the blade drives home.
C3 v Mirth (1d20 11=22, 1d4 4=7, 1d6=1). 8hp damage to Mirth.

Snaggletooth abandons his pursuit of the creeper in favour of attacking Gn2.
(d20+10, 23, d4+4, 7hp, setup for an interrupt)

"Magic gnomes very bad and don't explode when you kill them."

Horribly injured, Gn2 backs away from the oncoming foes and makes the fatal error of sending more butterflies towards Snaggletooth. The illusion is useless this time, and even worse, opens him up to another attack from the infuriated kobold.
Riposte Strike Snaggletooth.

Spoiler:
I can tell you that anything over 18 is a hit and he's dead or unconscious - your call.

Gn1 sees that there is little chance of survival in the present conditions. Sidling towards the door, he looks over Cronin's head and teleports to just behind the cleric.

Edited for poor RP

Rev, the last three maps posted have lost the edge labels.

Mirth grunts softly as the creeper's blade scores a line across her belly. She steps back a pace, the blaze in her eyes rising again. She holds her left hand to her wound, her right gesturing with her charred staff.

Illusory Ambush again, vs Creeper that stabbed her. Home roll:7 +7=14 vs will for Home roll: 4+5=9 psychic damage, activating infernal wrath for another +3, grand total of 12 damage.

Brujo vanishes, reappearing behind the gnome. He takes his blade and places it near the gnomes thoat, "I think NOW would be opportune time to surrender. My commrades don't take well to being attacked, and I have thing about killing other people. So save yourself the pain"

Can't see the edges of the map... So fey step to Q10, whatever the squares behind Gn1 is. Initimidate 1d20+2=22 vs. Will, CRITICAL INTIMIDATION!

Remade the map. Should have the grid back again. I have no idea why it sometimes decides to eat itself.

Mirth's threats make no difference to the creeper and it easily shakes off her illusion.

The gnome looks from the carnage in the room to Brujo and nods very carefully.

"Good point. I'll just be leaving now shall I?," he asks hopefully.

Cronin ignores everything but the creeper and sends more divine fire towards his natural enemy. "Do what you like with the gnomes, but the creepers die." For all his words, his aim is off this time and the dark one still stands, pallid eyes glaring at the companions, dagger twisting in the paddy hands.

Gn2's fate is unknown at the moment. Snaggletooth has an immediate interrupt on it.
