The door swings open to reveal a study. Massive bookcases flank the entrance, stuffed with an enormous variety of books, papers and scrolls. The furnishings here are of another standard entirely. This is a room belonging to someone with taste, money and a fearless ability to use both to their own ends. Each piece seems to have been chosen not merely for its intrinsic value, but as a complement to the owners personality. At the far end of the room stands a heavy desk, the top scattered with yet more papers. Arianwyn has never seen finer elven craftsmanship. Kia hasn't either, but from where she's standing at the moment, she can't see anything at all.
Chests of a more utilitarian nature are placed casually within the room, with none of the attention given to the careful placement of the clearly personal items. An exquisite tapestry hangs over a doorway to the south, depicting Gruumsh in the act of devouring a screaming eladrin warrior. Further up the room is a an additional doorway, this one unadorned, but locked.
The green is the tapestry hanging over the doorframe. The other thing on the south wall is the second door.
Actions please and can Kia confirm her position.

Rev DM |

The left hand (north wall) bookcase is devoted to history. Whoever assembled these volumes knew what they were looking for and clearly had enough influence and money to acquire it.
A ten volume first edition of Pirot Samagal's Speculations on the fall of Bael Turath immediately catches the cleric's eye. Mursod's Thoughts on Empire, Grunblum's Fallacies and the all but unobtainable Volden Jasseck masterwork Studies in the Rise to Power are other treasures. On the lower shelves are other, no doubt equally valuable works which the tiefling does not recognise.
On the other wall, the theme is arcana. There is enough here to keep Reason extremely happy for a very long time.
Reason
Even through your amazed state however, you are aware of a faint clicking from beyond the astounding, but extremely disturbing tapestry.

Rev DM |

Gobi mills around the room and looks for anything that would interest him. He looks at the tapestry, "tough luck."
Apart from the books which are probably priceless, Gobi is aware that any object in this room is of impeccable pedigree. It is almost as it you have found a small dragon's horde.
What is the plan?

Rev DM |

Arianwyn, where is Urho?
A charmingly domestic scene greets you. Seated at a chess board, methodically moving the pieces for both sides is Kyleth. Arianwyn recognises her at once from his dream vision.
"Do tell me. Should I have moved the bishop?"
Arianwyn
Her glorious face turns towards you and blurs into another face, just as lovely and by far more familiar.
You are going to have to fight her in the form of your lost love. At the beginning of each round, she'll roll a Bluff check. If your perception is lower, you'll attack at -1.
Bluff to be Arianwyn's love (1d20 15=18)
Positions and init please.

Apologies everyone. Unless Kia moves to somewhere where you can both see and hear her, you don't get a +2 to init. As noted, it makes no difference in this case, but I'm sorry to mess you about.

Rev DM |

Rolled for Arianwyn. He got 15.
"Perhaps I should have moved the queen..."
Picking up the black queen, Kyleth turns towards Arianwyn, as the piece elongates and changes to become an intricately worked dagger. Spinning with the swiftness of a cat, she points at him. Infernal fire blisters from the tip and heads towards the warlock's head.
"Now we shall trade fairly, shall we not? But this is my ground. I move first."
"Let us see how you appreciate the companionship of my hound."
A spectral hound emerges from the tip of the dagger and hurls itself at Arianwyn's throat.
"So much more obedient and destructive than your little basalt pet." She steps towards the tapestried archway and raises a hand igniting cold flames around her body.
Curse - minor
Curse of the Bloody Fangs (AC) v Arianwyn. Sustain minor (target and any adjacent enemies take 1d10 damage (save ends). (1d20 13=27, 2d10 5=17). 17hp damage to Arianwyn.
Curse damage (1d8=4). Further 4hp damage to Arianwyn, making 21 total.
Moved and used AP to activate Armour of Agathys. 13 temp hp and until the end of the encounter enemies starting adjacent to her take 1d6+5 cold damage.

Vel moves to where she has line of sight on Kyleth (and, unfortunately, vice versa) and fires off a ray of enfeeblement, missing. Activating her orb's far-sight ability, she then sends a pair of force bolts at the witch.
Move to where, D8? Minor - orb of far seeing halves range. Attack, ROE, missing. Action point, attack, Magic Missile, missing again.
RoE vs Fort (1d20+8=15, 1d10+6=7)
MM vs Ref (1d20+8=11, 2d4+6=11)

Whiteclaw |

There is a howl from Whiteclaw. "It's time for you to die." she screams out and charges Kyleth!
Ferocious Charge to H11. Attack of 1d20+11=27, Damage 1d10+8=10. Mark her. Minor action to activate defensive stance which gives me +2 to AC and the ability to shift one square as an immediate reaction whenever I am missed with a melee attack. Action Point. Tide of Iron. 1d20+10=27, 1d10+4=6 and I shift her to H10 and move into her square.

Rev DM |

"A dragon's pet. How truly sweet. And have you learned much from your kindred? Oh, this will be such a tale. I long for you to be worthy foes, I ache for you to show me your valour."
Although unable to avoid Whiteclaw's onslaught, Kyleth seems remarkably unconcerned by the oncoming gnoll nor her enforced re-positioning between the companions. Arms spread wide, her tone is positively seductive.

Sorry to be a fuss, but are you sure you meant H10? Moving here there guarantees that no-one else can get into the room to attack Kyleth until after her next turn and also assures that Arianwyn takes and extra 1d6+5 damage on his turn when he is already low on HP. Did you mean to move her to I11? Which keeps her in view for the ranged attackers and allows other to enter the room if they wish.

Whiteclaw |

Yep, I meant H10. While all of your points are valid ones, there are other doors into the room, and people can attack her, melee wise, in the doorway to either side of our warlock. Whiteclaw's trying to take away Kyleth's maneuver room. At I11, she could shift out of melee range, and then disengage. At H10 she's pretty well pinned. She could avoid an OA from Arianwyn, but takes one from Whiteclaw in any event, and can't open the hall door unless she has a second AP, and getting her to burn it on that would be positive.

Arianwyn |

Urho is in F11. I am bloodied. Should it not be Insight vs Bluff? If not, I got Perception 14. So... I am taking 1d6+5 damage at the start of my turn? Yay. Good-o. Would you like me to roll for that?
Blood trickling from his mouth, Arianwyn glares at Kyleth.

Rev DM |

Should it not be Insight vs Bluff? If not, I got Perception 14. So... I am taking 1d6+5 damage at the start of my turn? Yay. Good-o. Would you like me to roll for that?
Yes, it should indeed be Insight. Roll again please. Her handy "pick the person you'd hate to fight most" ability is not an Arianwyn exclusive, it's just that you were first through the door. Feel free to roll your own damage at the start of your turn.

Kia Rubarka |

Realising that she can't stick around outside in the corridor for ever, Kia moves to I4, and opens the door. Then she encourages Whitclaw to take a whack at Kyleth.
Commander's Strike: Whiteclaw: 1d20+10=28 vs AC. 1d10+4=11 damage
The door is now open if anyone wants to use that as an alternative way in

The Rogue Knight |

For Rev
Move to I9 and flanks Kyleth
Activate Righteous Rage of Kord, minor action
"Fall in the name of Kord!"
Righteous Smite Attack 1d20+8=27
Additional Damage for High Crit and Vicious 2d12=15
Total damage to Kyleth is 43.
TRK and all allies within 5 squares gain 7 temp HP

Rev DM |

TRK
I9 won't be a flank. I10 is. To get to either square you'd need to take on OA (she's got sorcerous blade channeling and grants no OA herself for using her powers as melee attacks). Even if you double move and run, you can't make it through both doors and get to I9 or I10.
Up to you. I'll hold on updating the map until I hear what your plans are.
Urged on by Kia, Whiteclaw lands a further blow on Kyleth. The Witch Queen applauds sardonically and bows slightly in Kia's direction.
"Always so eager to be useful. Carrying such a helpful item too. You could just give it to me you know. These preliminaries are so very likely to end in your needless deaths."

Reason strides forward, awash in Ioun's clear light. That light burst forth, aiding Arianwyn and striking at the Witch Queen.
Move to D10. Healing Word bonus for Arianwyn (1d6+3=9). Daunting Light vs Kyleth's Reflex (1d20+7=17, 2d10+5=20) bah. If hit, Radiant Damage, and Whiteclaw has Combat Advantage vs foe until end of Reason's next turn. Spend Action Point. Cause Fear vs Will (1d20+7=20) If hit, Kyleth moves her speed+3 away from Reason, provoking OA's. Note: if she is Bloodied, add one to Reason's subsequent attacks please.

Rev DM |

The Rogue Knight demonstrates his own brand of reckless courage as he pushes past Kyleth to attack her. Her dagger flashes down, but misses him by inches.
TRK are you attacking at all from I9?
Reason's goddess restores vitality to Arianwyn, but Kyleth is just too strong for his prayers to have any affect. Very nearly though.
She looks at the newcomers. "The nameless one and the book thief. How lovely of you to pay me so much attention. Did you enjoy my library, book thief?"
Arianwyn and Urho (I think Reason's help makes you un-bloodied), but you still need to roll an Insight check (DC18 or attack at -1) and you also need to roll 1d6+5 cold damage.

Arianwyn is bolstered by Reason's healing power, "My thanks." he gasps. Looking Kyleth in the eye, the image of Tira wavers and fades, and the bride of Gruumsh stands before him. Gritting his teeth against the chill of her power, he declares, "I see your deception, witch."
Minor - Curse Kyleth. Standard -Sloth Strike vs AC - 1d20+8=17 I guess that misses... ACTION POINT! Curse of the Dark Dream 1d20+6=10 I actually want to cry. Move - Teleport to D7.
A thin rime of ice forms on Arianwyn's blade as he slashes at the sorceress with unveiled hatred. He reaches out with the power of his mind but he is distracted by his anger. With a roar of rage he vanishes from sight, and reappears next to Vel.
"Her strength is great. Far greater than any of us feared..." he says to her with ragged breaths.
