"O, thou art fairer than the evening air clad in the beauty of a thousand stars. You shall most surely be mine little sweetmeat. All of you are mine. To keep or kill as I will it."

The cold flames dance higher, sending demonic shadows coursing over Kyleth's face.

Male Tiefling Cleric 11

Reason responds to Kyleth's question, "I haven't had a chance to enjoy your library yet, but I am sure that it is going to make a lovely addition to the temple."

Gobi moves to get a better view of his enemy while he invokes a prayer to cause pain for any harm she would cause another.

Move to E11, cast on pain of death

On Pain of Death vs. Will (1d20+6=22)

If it's a hit I would like to use my Symbol of Battle's power which is to deal an additional 1d10 damage

Damage (3d8+4=17, 1d10=9)

also as per "On Pain of Death" the target once per round will take 1d8 after making any attacks (save ends) If I miss, it'll be half damage and 1d4 per round

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

Oh! I forgot I can do stuff even if I miss with Dark Dream! i slide Kyleth to I10.

Gobi's staunch attack brings the Witch Queen's gaze around to him. "Little dwarf, would you like to learn the true meaning of pain?" That hit. She takes 1d8 once per round unless she saves.

"Book thief, trust that the books will burn before they leave my care."

Her hand rises in a grateful salute to Arianwyn. "My gratitude. I shall keep my enemies close. Feel the fangs of my hound, treasured one. They bite deep. On you and the raven's failure."

Curse of the Bloody Fangs v Arianwyn and Vel (1d10=7, 1d10=5). 7hp to Arianwyn and 5hp to Vel.. Minor action

Turning to the Rogue Knight, her smile grows more seductive still. "My nameless hero. Let me make you mine. Kord cannot even offer you your name, but I, I will mark it on your face for all to see."

With a gesture of infinite tenderness, she draws her dagger across the paladin's face, before digging deep and scoring the unholy symbol of Gruumsh into his forehead. As the blade leaves the wound, flames spring from the cut flesh.

Curse - minor. Hellish Rebuke - standard, using sorcerous blade channeling.

Hellish Rebuke on TRK(Ref). On hit, if Kyleth takes damage before the end of her next turn, TRK takes an extra 1d6 5 fire damage. (1d20 13=33, 1d6 5=7). Crit. 11hp fire damage to TRK.

Curse damage to TRK (1d6 =6). 6hp curse damage to TRK. Total 17hp damage.

She takes 1hp from Gobi's On pain of death and makes the save.
Gobi's on Pain of Death damage (1d8=1)
Save v On Pain of Death (1d20=18)

MAP

Vel is up
TRK - needs to take 1d6+5 damage for being adjacent to Kyleth
Kia
Whiteclaw - needs to take 1d6+5 for being adjacent to Kyleth

Gobi

Female Human Wizard 11 / Master of Flame

Vel dodges away from the warlock. "Stay away from me, you idiot!" she hisses. She then launches another force missile at Kyleth, to no greater effect.

Move to B10, miss with Magic Missile. The only thing I've got left other than MM is Illusory Ambush, and somehow I don't think I want to be targeting her Will. Though with rolls like these, it doesn't much matter.

Apologies to Arianwyn and Vel. Arianwyn should have rolled a save at the end of his turn to prevent the Bloody Fangs from attacking him. I misread the power. Please do so now and if you make it, you can have your 7hp back and Vel can have her 5hp back.

The mage moves irritably across the room to where she can get a good look at the Witch Queen. Kyleth barely looks up from her dagger work on the Rogue Knight.

MAP The grid monster is eating it again. I'll re-do it in the morning.

TRK is up - 1d6+5 cold damage for starting next to Kyleth
Kia
Whiteclaw - 1d6+5 cold damage for starting next to Kyleth
Reason
Arianwyn and Urho - may need to save v Bloody Fangs, but see above.

Female Gnoll Warden 12 (Icewrought Sentinel)

All of Kyleth's attacks are at -2, since she didn't target Whiteclaw at all and she's marked. Not sure if you factored that in :). Also, I get to smack her with a melee basic as an immediate interrupt, so: 1d20+10=16. If it hit: 1d10+4=7.

Whiteclaw wrote:

Good catch. Thank you! I didn't factor the mark in, but the only thing the -2 would have affected was the Hellish Rebuke on TRK, which was a crit. I'm guessing you'll be keeping your mark on her, since she's the only foe in the room.

Whiteclaw lashes out hard with her flail while Kyleth's back is turned, but the blow simply glances off her robes. She takes enough notice of the attack to comment mildly, "Now, what would a gnoll fear to fight. Who does a gnoll truly love?"

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

Got a 15 on my save! Sorry, Pat, i didn't realise that Bloody Fangs affects adjacent people as well. Although Vel's response made me laugh.

Good oh. You get 7hp back and Vel gets 5hp back. Are you still bloodied?

Kyleth shrugs slightly as her eldritch hound vanishes. "Clever kennel man."

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

I am on 24 hp, so not bloodied.

ELVEN

Spoiler:
"Tell me, why wouldst thou become a traitor to thy heritage? The Bride of Gruumsh is an unlovely appellation."

TRK is bloodied; down to 25.

Rev for my attack can I still use the one posted above; I don't wanna waste such a good roll.

If yes

Spoiler:

Activate Righteous Rage of Kord, minor action

"Fall in the name of Kord!"

Righteous Smite Attack 1d20+8=27

Additional Damage for High Crit and Vicious 2d12=15

Total damage to Kyleth is 43.

TRK and all allies within 5 squares gain 7 temp HP

Female Gnoll Warden 12 (Icewrought Sentinel)

"I certainly don't fear you, witch." is Whiteclaw's simple reply as she continues to attack Kyleth.

1d6+5 cold=9 vs me. Heh, no really good powers to use, so I'll go with Cleave even though there's no other baddie. I don't want to push her with Tide of Iron's push, and it doesn't seem optional, so Cleave it is. 1d20+6=9. Miss. I keep her marked. My hp are adjusted on the assumption that TRKs attack, with it's 7 temp hp counted. If not, I'm at 41 not 48.

Elven

Spoiler:

"Gruumsh is but a step along my path, sweeting. Would you forbid that which you have not the power to prevent?"

The Rogue Knight take advantage of her momentary distraction and ignores the flaming wound on his forehead as he sends Kord's anger against his foe. Please take a further 1d6+5 damage from Hellish Rebuke TRK. Even as the blow lands, the fire flares again, marking the hellish scar deeper into his flesh.

Activate Righteous Rage of Kord, minor action

"Fall in the name of Kord!"

Righteous Smite Attack 1d20+8=27
Additional Damage for High Crit and Vicious 2d12=15
Total damage to Kyleth is 43.
TRK and all allies within 5 squares gain 7 temp HP. Kia, Reason, Whiteclaw, Gobi and TRK all benefit.

As the paladin's axe sinks into her, and the gnoll's flail misses, Kyleth pulls her cloak around her and vanishes, appearing smiling and full of menace in front of Kia, with the worst of the wound she just received newly healed.

"Time to give me my prize, eladrin" She looks hungrily at the backpack, seemingly urging the skull to attack her.

TRK's attack bloodied her, so she activated her Robe of Contingency to teleport and regain 40hp

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

"Ha! Knight takes Queen!" Arianwyn crows.

As Kyleth disappear, he grumbles "She still has not answered my question. I shall force the issue."

"Ha! You and your choice of women!"

"Heat not a furnace for your foe so hot that it do singe yourselves."

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

Seething quietly, Arianwyn mutters (too quiet for the Rogue Knight to hear), "Do something about it, he says. As if bringing forth eldritch powers from beyond his ken is something to be used like a child's toy."

Female Eladrin Warlord/10

"As if I would be so stupid as to listen to you, witch! I'll not let you have the skull while I have breath to curse you!"

1d6+5=10 damage from Kyleth's proximity

[i]Warlord's Favour[i] 1d20+7=24 vs AC, 2d8+3=16 damage. If hits, TRK gets +4 to all his attacks against her until the end of Kia's next turn

"And you'll have to catch me first. Two can play the that game!"

Kia teleports to J9, spends an action point and runs to B8

"Hit and run will you?" Kyleth turns and laughs as Kia's sword bites home, pulling her cloak around her more tightly.

"Sweetmeat," she calls to Arianwyn, "my actions are my own. Let them call it mischief: When it is past and prospered t'will be virtue. The book thief knows how history passes judgement. Are not the victorious always virtuous?"

Kia hit.

"The victors sins are forgiven only when knowledge is erased. And that will not happen here."

He then launches a bolt of light at the Witch Queen.

Lance of Faith vs Ref (1d20+7=26, 1d8+5=9) if hit, Radiant damage, and Whiteclaw gets a +2 power bonus on her next attack against Kyleth.

Divine light streaks across the room and slams into Kyleth as Reason ranges alongside his comrades.

Spoiler:

"Kyleth, before thy honey turns to venom, I wouldst have thee answer me. Why hast thou forsaken thy birthright to wed thyself to foulness?" Arianwyn asks sternly.

Arianwyn intends this partially as a cover for affecting her perception but her will is too strong to be affected by his illusion.

" 'Tis true indeed, o Queen of naught, but remember that some are born great, some achieve greatness and some have greatness thrust upon them. It seemeth that thou art doomed to trip upon the first step of thy climb. I pity thee."

he says, sounding as old as his years.

"Some choose greatness, sweetmeat. Not all who choose so, fall. There is a tide in my affairs, which taken at the flood, leads on to fortune. Omitted, all the voyage of this life is bound in shallows and in miseries. On such a full sea am I now afloat. And I must take the current when it serves."

Spoiler:
With all due apologies for mangling Shakespeare so horribly, but she's a bit of an egotist.

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

"Or, you have waded in blood so far that to turn back were as tedious as to go o'er." Arianwyn sighs. "Pride goeth before a fall, to mint a coin from a die well-worn."

Gobi moves to the rogue knights aid. Doing his best to invoke his gods power into revitalizing him. In the process gobi feels his divine gifts grace him with an area of protection.

Move to I10 and use my last lay on hands for the day on TRK and I'd like to use Sacred Circle which creates a burst 3 zone that gives myself and allies a +1 power bonus to AC

As Gobi rushes to aid his comrades, an aura of divine light springs up around them, invigorating and strengthening them. The Rogue Knight shakes off the worst of his wounds and takes fresh heart.

"Gathered like sheep in a pen. Or lambs to the slaughter. Look and learn book thief."

Kyleth's eyes glow alarmingly as the chill of her curse lands on Reason's horned head. With insolent grace, she releases a small ball of energy which rolls lazily across the room towards Gobi. As it arrives at his feet, is explodes silently into waves of energy, gripping and crushing the companions. Urho dissolves under the unexpected pressure.

"Time for my books to burn, methinks," she adds before moving into the next room to confront Kia and Vel.

Crushing Sphere (Ref) v TRK, Gobi, Whiteclaw, Reason, Arianwyn, Urho (1d20 13=19, 1d20 13=24, 1d20 13=24, 1d20 13=22, 1d20 13=19, 1d20 13=21). Hits all of you. Urho winks out of existence. 11hp damage to everyone except Reason who takes an additional 4hp for a total of 15.

Uncharacteristically, Vel moves forward (D8). "You will not," she says through clenched teeth, as she self-immolates, engulfing Kyleth and Kia in the flames, though the latter is unharmed.

Fire Shroud vs Ref (1d20+8=20, 1d6+5=8) If that hits, it's 8 fire, + 5 ongoing fire, save ends, using orb of imposition to give -2 to saves

Hot and cold flames mingle and strive for dominance as Vel immolates and Kyleth is just unable to avoid the incoming fire.

Reason is still un-bloodied (24hp), thanks to the temps from TRK. Is Kyleth re-bloodied yet?

Not quite. Pretty darn close though. One more hit would probably do it. Amended Reason's status.

Male Eladrin Warlock (Feypact) 13 - Multiclass Bard - Hexer Paragon Path

My heart actually thudded in my chest reading Rev's post. We're getting slaughtered. We need to find a way of not bunching together, as well as not being picked off one by one. Damn difficult. I'm on 13hp with 1 surge left. For me it's a toss up between Second Wind or getting healing from Reason again. I can't go toe-to-toe with her to melee because of the aura she has up. I am rolling so badly at the moment as well. I am contemplating using Arcana in some sort of mad stunt to disable the aura, but will have to run it past Rev.

Arianwyn gasps, "We cannot have come so far to end thus..."

How on earth did we all end up in a nice bunch? Weird.

It's like we're a team of Timbits hockey players!

.... Sorry, Canadian in me coming out. Think 5 year olds playing football (UK), ball rolling with entire team trailing in a mob after it.

Spoiler:
This encounter is deliberately set up to occur when you're pretty much at the end of your resources. You're definitely in with a decent chance here. That said, I'd be cheating you all if I didn't do my very best to kill you.

Arianwyn, tell me what you want to try and I'll see. As you know, I'm extremely open to pcs attempting to do stuff. Same applies to you all. If you want to come up with a fancy plan that isn't strictly within the use of your powers, go for it.

"The world is cold, witch. Anyone who says different is selling you something."

Female Gnoll Warden 12 (Icewrought Sentinel)

Whiteclaw doesn't engage in banter at all with the witch. Rather, the gnoll tosses her shield aside and moves towards Kyleth with murder in her eyes.

Cancel my stance to move at full speed and drop my shield, both as free actions. Move to E6. Attempt to Grab Kyleth. It's Str vs reflex and I need a hand free (hence the shield drop). I'll also use my Blessing of the Dragon to use con bonus for the roll, instead of str. So, 1d20+4 vs reflex = 19.

As The Rogue Knight advances into the corridor in search of Kyleth, Whiteclaw throws caution to the winds and simply attempts to wrestle the witch to the ground. Swiftly as a snake, Kyleth dodges, narrowly avoiding the gnoll's long arms.

"Ah. Now I know who you love." Her face start to blur a little at the edges.

Flavour text only. She can't try her transformation/deception until the start of her own turn. You only just missed with the grab attempt.

Whiteclaw please confirm your AC minus the shield. It may be important.

OK, here goes outrageous stunt #2 - I'll use Witchfire against her but instead of damaging her, using it to strip her of her aura - kind of a fire meets ice thing. Sound cool and plausible?

Absolutely. I like that very much. Go for it. You'll still be rolling at -2 of course.

Spoiler:
You do realise you're setting yourself up for my pcs to try stuff like this don't you? Or is that one of the points of this mad exercise? Either way, I'm all for it.
