Saevox's Gauntlet: A multi-table PvPvE Pathfinder module! (Inactive)

Game Master The Rising Phoenix

Saevox's Gauntlet is the first installment of a three part PvPvE multi-table adventure PbP where four separate parties make a mad dash through a harrowing gauntlet of challenges to be one of the first to obtain Saevox's Fang, the first of three pieces of an ancient Thassilonian artifact called the Trimerix, uncover the location of the second piece of the artifact and make it out alive.

Open for dotting!

I've basically finished my build but for the benefit of the others, 04/10/2018 either already passed (if you are American) or in in 6 months (if you're not), just curious as to which you mean?

It was a typo, my apologies. I meant it to be one week from yesterday, so 04/17/18. Sorry!

A few more questions/updates:

  • Dwarves are incorretedly listed in the 12-15 RP section of 15 point buy, they are 11 RP and should be listed in the 20 point buy section. Sorry about that!
  • Drawbacks are required and we will be looking to ensure that whatever you select is going to be monitored. If the GM points out something should be done due to your drawback while playing, please prepare to adjust. Choose wisely!
  • With the drawback you should have a total of 3 traits.
  • The teamwork feat is being provided at level 4, not level 1.

I've been talking to the other GM's and it looks like everyone is progressing nicely on their characters. Most teams have at least three characters more or less completed. Here is the schedule for the next week:

  • Completed characters are due Tuesday 04/17 for GM review. Please work with your GM to answer their questions and adjust any outstanding items. This includes creating your character's alias, putting their stats in the profile so the GM's can reference it easily AND populating the quick reference stat line for the character with critical information like AC, HP, Saves, etc.

  • Roll20 is being used for our map AND our backup method of submitting your action in the event that Paizo forums are unavailable/down. I'll create a separate post on the latter part later, but for now please create a Roll20 account if you don't have one. I will be granting permission to move your token to everyone on your team. This will allow those who can't get to a map at a particular time to allow teammates to move them accordingly (This also allows teammates to move your token if your don't post your action before the 48 hour mark). Join the Saevox's Gauntlet Roll20 game HERE! I'm planning on using your character's profile picture for your avatar in Roll20. If your Roll20 name is different than what your alias is here and I can't logically make the connection, please PM the details. Joining the Roll20 game is due by Tuesday 04/17.

  • Party information is due Wednesday 04/18. This information includes your team name (who are you?) and team benefactor (why are you here?).

  • Dot into your local team thread as well as the gameplay thread here.

  • If everything falls into place Tue/Wed, we'll be starting our game Thursday 4/19! We'll keep you updated if that slips for some reason.

Once you're signed into Roll 20, click on the settings in the top right (gear icon) and should be able to change your OOC name for the game to match your character here. That will help me assign it and also be helpful in case we need to use actions on Roll 20 if Paizo is down to figure out who is who.

I posted the introduction last night and will continue to post additional material to advance the story leading up to the start of the game. Feel free to RP during/in between these posts as you wish. The purpose of these posts is to spread out a lot of background information and to provide the framework for the adventure over a short period of time.

The clock doesn't start until the game officially begins (right now it is schedule for Thursday, but there are still some unfinished characters floating around out there). We'll let you know when Round 1 begins and everything is officially underway.

Good afternoon all!

We've received all 16 character submissions and the GM's are in the process of going through them right now. It looks like we're on track for an official kickoff of the game tomorrow, here's how everything is going to work.

I've been making one post a day in each of your gameplay threads with pieces of the introduction as it leads up to your arrival and eventual entry into the first trial. There are four pieces of the introduction of which I've posted three. After the fourth tomorrow each of respective GM's will take over and begin to monitor your individual game. We need one post after the last intro by me tomorrow before we can officially start the game. Once everyone from all teams has posted we will start Round 1!

We're one big GM team, so don't be surprised if you see another GM pop in from time to time in your games to keep things moving.

Ok, we're underway! I'm handing off each of the games to your GM now. Each of you need to make a post attuning to the stone and entering your cage. Once that is done Round 1 will begin!

This is a good time to go over the mechanics of how we are running this game. Some of these rules are slightly tweaked from normal in order to fit the multi-table format. Please take a moment and go over this so you don't get surprised later.

MECHANICS

As mentioned in recruitment, the entire game will take place during tactical combat formatting, here's how it will work.

  • The game will advance 1 round every 48-72 hours, depending on when players finish their actions. If all players from all teams finish their actions before the 48 hours are up the game may advance early.

  • If after 48 hours a player has not submitted their action, any player from your team may submit your actions for you. If after 72 hours no action has been submitted for your character, you will forfeit an action for that round and go into delay until next round.

  • Each round a player will be allotted actions as if we were in combat, meaning the typical standard and move action. While not engaged with enemies your team will be allowed to submit their team actions in any order. This is done to ensure maximum flexibility and timing for a play by post format.

  • The GM will roll initiative each time a team first enters a new location. If a player or creature initiates combat on a round in which a creature or player has already taken an action, those characters/creatures that have not acted this round may participate in combat this round following initiative order normally. If characters/creatures have already acted this round prior to combat starting and their initiative is higher than those characters who haven’t acted this round, they are considered to be in delay and are not flat footed. They will be in delay until their specific initiative arrives the following round.

  • If other characters/enemies engage/enter the combat area, their initiative will be rolled and they will be inserted appropriately.

  • Everytime you enter a new room the GM's will roll a macro block for the party's passives. This includes initiative, saves and perception. Based upon your perception roll, the GM will let you know what it is you see in the room so there will be no need to roll perception everytime you enter a room. If you wish to study an object/area/item more closely you may use a move action to do so.

  • Opening a chest, using an activation stone, retrieving a stowed item and opening doors are all move actions.

The Roll 20 map is live!

We have 15/16 of our characters setup and ready to go, we're just waiting on the straggler. You should be able to login and move your character around as well as see through the collective vision of your party (since all characters are shared).

The map is large to accommodate four parties and you may initially have trouble finidng where you are if everything is black. The easiest way to remedy is to zoom all the way out (top right scroll bar). After your locate your party you can zoom back in.

Everyone is currently in the courtyard and you all should see the something that looks like this right now. If you're having trouble please let your GM know!

HP 30/39; AC 21/12/19; Saves: F7 R6 W4; Spell slots 4/1; active: Barksin 40 min // Kraath: HP 30/30; AC 21/12/19; Saves F7 R6e W4*

Official complaint

Some of us were waiting for information to inform our actions. It has been over 24 hours since the question was asked and we got no GM response. Because of that, two people did not get to finish their actions and we may face other consequences from where where are at the moment.

I ask that we get the information and get to finish our actions. OR that other parties get similarly hampered in a tight situation.
