I will make a basic action for you if you are silent more than 24 hours during combat or an important skill challenge.
If you make a BotMe! Spoiler in your profile, that will tell me what to do. Otherwise, I will attempt to choose an action which fits with your posting history so far.

Raia Danviri |

Woot:
It looks like we have:
1) Wolfspirit - TBD
3) B4B2 - Level 1 (Probably something other than Operative)
4) Raia - Level 1 Iconic
6) X5NSA - Level 1 Combat Drone Mechanic
8) Flush - Level 1 Mechanic
10) Dyukela - Level 1 Mystic
So, two Mechanics and a Mystic. Three of us need to pick something.
I’ll play whichever Iconic makes sense. Not sure what Wolfspirit’s Plan was.
B4B2, you seem the newest to Starfinder. What would you like to play (that isn’t another Mechanic or a Mystic, hahaha)?
Looking at what we have, I suggest we add an Envoy, a Soldier, and a Technomancer, but I’m sure other choices would work, an Operative or Solarian for example.

Raia Danviri |

Yes, this is 4th level Raia. I played her for the Special. If I go to use Raia, I’ll downgrade her to her 1st level version.

![]() |

I can play an Operative, Envoy, or Melee something, depending on what's needed. One of my favorite Operatives is an almost unfair pilot, though I'm not sure if that's the kind of introduction Ewok wants to give to space combat. It does make things go a lot quicker though ;)
My 2 cents, having an experienced player as the pilot would make those scenes a lot less painful for the party. But don't let me persuade you. ;)
(For those who don't know, starship combat can be painful in PbP. I will be adapting the rules slightly from the rulebook to help streamline the process however.)

Raia Danviri |

If B2 isn’t joining us, then we probably need a pilot.
Shall I play Obozaya and Wolf something that can Pilot?
Can we steal a table 2 person to round out our 6?

Raia Danviri |

Oh! Dyukela is B2!
So yeah we’re 1 short.
I’ll be right back with Obozaya!

Hmmm, when I go to edit Obo's profile, I don't see the option for setting a profile picture. I know where I'd see it for a PFS/SFS character, but this is a standard profile.
Anyone know where I do that?
I'll get Obo's stats posted ASAP.
Oh, and GM, can you kick Raia out of the game, since I'll be playing Obozaya please?

Glad to join. I'll try and add my character info into the profile tonight. I've had to switch what a character is often enough that I stopped doing it. But glad to join.

Darkling right? So you're our 6th!!!
Welcome!

Obozaya Ymeros |

Ok, Raia, did you have a preference between an operative / pilot type or a envoy / captain type? Clearly neither is required, but those are the gaps I see. I'll post up with a character this evening after a PnP game :)
Errr, I saw a gap in the Soldier type, so I went with Obozaya.
You could easily play an envoy, and max your piloting skill, and thus cover both chatting and flying, although some of our mechanics might have piloting covered.

Sal is a fine pilot, and I've done starship combat before. But if you'd particularly like to do so he's also a good gunner or engineer. Though I might have to fight another mechanic for that role. Can we sell tickets to that? Blood bath in the engine room! Seems like a solid plan to pick up some extra cash to me.

![]() |

There are theoretically infinite engineering and science spots. And most ships I've seen do have two guns to fire. Though I will admit that having more than one science officer typically seems unnecessary, and as for engineering only one will have anything to do unless you take significant damage. So normally you're looking at a captain, a pilot, two gunners, an engineer and a science officer. That's 6 people, so a good sized table. Most science officers can also double in engineering if actually needed, and occasionally the backup gunner won't get a shot if the enemy is in the wrong gun arc. So really we should be good. I can cover anything but the captain slot(ok, actually on review I'd make an ok captain due to diversity of skills, but not a good on.), so others can feel free to grab the job they want particularly if they're limited in choice. I'm all for jotting Obozaya down as gunner one for instance.

Any starship battles will be my first run at the rules but in general X5 has great (level 1 great) skills for computers and engineering, good skills at piloting, and crap diplomacy/intimidation. :)
If Sal is a fine and experienced pilot, then I can assist in the engineering or science roles.
(As a captain, X5 could be a great encourager but will never demand or taunt anything.)

![]() |

And we're off!!! Normally, this is when I would ask you what boons you are slotting. However, there are no boons allowed for this scenario. You will still get to get fame towards your faction of choice.
Also, please copy your character's photo into the second page of the slideshow.

EDIT: Am I mistaken or do we have three Mechanics in this group so far? Not complaining, it looks like we all took different routes with it, was curious...

I can change characters pretty easily if people would prefer. But I do think there'll be a good bit of difference.

So it seems we have:
Sal claims to be a fine pilot (and player experience with starship combat is bonus points)
Obozaya is a shooter
X5 is a good shooter, or computer/engineering (ace pilot is my theme but I probably should observe combat once)
Flush seems to be good engineering/computers?
Dyukela is TBD
And Wolf Spirit is TBD (but may have a captain)
No one has claimed Captain and we may have a cage match in engineering if someone wants to referee.
Did I miss anything?

Second noob question (Obozaya is counting):

Wolfspirit |

Second noob question (Obozaya is counting):
** spoiler omitted **
Like Shadowrun, though, there are definitely corps you do -not- want to mess with.

![]() |

Personally, I usually recommend someone start as a scientist for a round or two then move to be the second engineer. The captain, pilot and both shooters should always be filled. (The enemy seems to always have fully operational guns, so you want to as well.)
As for the question, Wolf is right. The rulebook says that unless you are a Level 5 Mechanic or have a cool personal computer, you need to be at a terminal. However, certain scenarios have allowed you to do remote hacks.
When in doubt, assume you need to be at a terminal.

![]() |

Pre-combat, the science station should always be manned, with position switches to engineering / gunning later on as needed. The science station is your "detect asteroids ahead" station in addition to combat uses :P

On the Way Back-ish TrainFlush will carefully respect the fragility of Sal's 'baby' and look at the construction with a critiquing eye.
"So, ah, you are ah, set on limbs for ah, locomotion? Had you ah, considered an airborne, ah, variant? I mean, you ah, wouldn't be er, able to carry as much ordinance but it could provide a logistical advantage in the er, field?"
Flush is used to machines having very finicky calibrations. She has had to calibrate many in the past.
Apologies, but this one is a pet peeve of mine: "ordnance"
