It is absolutely a starter quest. The authors are just big meanies. And... two of you rolled under a 5 on your Fortitude saves...
As for the turret... it doesn't say that only one person can fire it. So, you can both fire it on your turn. As for the mechanics of firing it, it is a Heavy Weapon. So those who are not a soldier can fire it, but at a -4. But.. it does 1d12 damage. So, that might be worth it.

...not that any sort of armor would seem to *help* against this thing....just a refresher, this IS a starting level Quest, right?
Yeah, this one is pretty nasty, but I think we've got it. Not that I can contribute much at the moment.

Here's the problem:
Flush is Encumbered (-5) firing into melee (-4) using a non-proficient weapon (-4) not counting any 'soft cover' that may be in play.
Did I mix up the math?

No firing into melee penalty, though there is still cover, particularly firing through allies... which apparently my local group does wrong (They did the "it doesn't count if they're closer to you than the enemy")

Oof, yeah you're right. It is a -9. If Obo was on the other side, it would have been even worse that probably would have been another -2.
I guess this turret isn't as cool as I thought it was!
Yeah. I think the main inclusion of the turret is in case you don't have any KAC weapons.

If you have the proficiency it’s a handy weapon. Though personally I wish there were multiple enemies(just not ones quite this rough) so people could use what’s actually particularly nice about the gun, namely the automatic ability. And sadly we lost our second tank, maybe I should have kitted Mark out with a Melee Weapon. I’m calling not it for third tank. I’ll create a bunker gladly and keep us from eating lasers, but I’m not so good with stopping things from hitting my face up close and personal like.

GM question: in the "fire at will", could I fire the turret weapon Obo didn't and the forward weapon? (basically fire both 4d8 weapons given that Obo shot the small turret weapon?)
Just didn't know if Obo is "manning" all the turret weapons and therefore I couldn't engage.

Not that I think it mattered, but I was using Piloting for the Aid check, not Diplomacy.
You can encourage another member of the crew to give her a bonus to her action. This works like aid another, granting a +2 bonus to the check required by a crew action if you succeed at a DC 10 check using the same skill. I realize now that I didn't call that out, though.
Also, I clearly need to step up my singing. IRL, this has taken about 5-10 rounds, so I was spreading it out. Geez.

I found the reference! Sorry, Flush, I was wrong before.
You can switch between roles (or assume a role if you don’t already have one), but this change must occur at the start of a round before the Engineering phase. You can switch to the captain or pilot role only if that role would otherwise be vacant (or if the character in that role is unable to take actions).
Sounds like it takes no time to switch roles.

Unfortunately I won't be running any Starfinder soon, as I think the Pathfinder Special will be taking a large portion of my time. But after that... I'll probably run another Starfinder one.
