Flush was a dumb custodial grunt before things happened to her. Some pronunciation things may still stick there.
Still, knowing how much someone writing in 'first person' drives *me* up a wall, I'll try to keep an eye on it.

It's not a big deal, really. It's just, "ordnance" is on my buzzword list, mostly because of my job. I figure you might use it a lot, in character at least, so I figured I'd point it out.

Flush has an exocortex. It even took over the negotiations there a little bit ago... :P (No, it's not her skill. It's just backstory :) )

As I didn't explicitly state it earlier, Brob will have his rifle out when the conversation leans towards fighting.
I thought you were going to turn this one into a social encounter!

I try to hold my players to the same expectations that I hold of myself. And personally, I'm going to find it hard to find time to make a quality post within the next 24 hours. So... I'll give everybody 48 hours to make their next post within this round.
Happy Thanksgiving to those who are celebrating! (Happy eat-a-turkey day to everyone else!)

Croatia - Europe
If you have not heard about Croatia then you may have heard of Dubrovnik where the Game of Thrones series is being recorded.

Dubrovnik is on my wife’s bucket list.
I watch Game of Thrones, she doesn’t
You will not regret it if you ever visit Dubrovnik

I find that I rarely regret helping my wife do what she wants.

I am going to be at a convention this weekend and won't be able to post until Sunday evening at the earliest. Flush is attempting to get the 'high ground' against the 'boss' and secure avenues of exit.

Alright, let's talk about the elephant in the room. Space Combat.
In PbP, it's terribly slow and boring. So, this is how I propose we run it. If you have any suggestions or comments, please speak up. I'm still refining this.
I'll ask for the scan roll as the group enters the ship. Then, I’ll roll the initiative at the start for all ships based on the respective piloting checks.
Then, once it reaches your ship’s turn, everyone will post* but I will resolve the actions in the Engineering – Helm – Gunnery phase order. As such, while you can declare your actions in the open, please have your dice rolls in spoilers.
*There are two exceptions to this.
(1) Gunnery phase might need to wait for all the ship movement to finalize to determine which weapons are available for firing. So Gunners might want to hold your posting until then or set up a series of contingency actions depending on the final facing and positioning. (2) If the Captain wishes to buff the pilot’s initiative roll, please indicate this and roll for this in the previous round, or state if that’s your default for start of combat (in which case I’ll roll that as well.

Something I've seen work well in person and which might help with PBP space combat. Have the Gunners, if multiple and I presume we do have two, designate themselves as primary and backup gunner, with an order of priority for backups if multiple. Then they can all roll as normal and the GM just uses the the rolls in descending order of weapon power. So the primary always fires the biggest gun in whatever facing, the backup fires the second weapon if any, etc and so forth. This doesn't work as well with multiple opponents, but otherwise it'll let the gunners post as normal without waiting, and the GM can just roll the damage as needed for whichever gun they assign.
Just a thought that might help with the speed.
On a side note, could we get a sound off from people as to what role people expect to fill in space combat? I know we discussed roles when we started, but I wanted to make sure everyone was still on the same page so we don't stumble around the first round with three captains or five gunners and nothing else.
Sal; piloting +7
Backup: Engineer +8

Flush's stats are in her stat-spoiler. I had her do Sciences but could be 'back-up' Science Entity until we hit combat and then move to Engineering, instead if someone is better at Scans with Computer/Life/Physical Sciences? (+11 Engineering, +8 Comp/Phys Sci, +7 Life Sci/Med)

Ok, so a couple important things of note regarding the ship:
The most powerful weapon is the turret, which can fire in any arc, so our best gunner should be on that.
All of the rest of our guns are equal, with one in each direction except aft. Our shields are equal in every quadrant. Basically, as long as our butt isn't facing the enemy, we're doing ok.
She gives +2 Computers, +1 Piloting, and there are two other floating +1s that can be used each combat round. I would propose that our pilot uses one of them, and the turret gunner uses one, every round. Unless, we end up in a low shields situation where we need the Engineer to be getting the shields back up.

I think X5 will start as Science (+9 computers; +8 physical science; +5 Life science)--presuming we can have multiple Science Officers--and shift to be a gunner (+3) once combat starts.
I can be a backup pilot (+7) or a backup engineer (+9).

Dyukela, do you want to be a gunner? If you have a rank in pilot with some dex bonus then you will be as good as X5. But the computer bonus may be worth it to switch roles. However I am all about more RP than min/max if you want to be a science officer.

The most important part is, even if you're not very good at something, if there's an 'open' spot, jump in it. Because having someone there is someone that can make a roll, any roll, versus no roll at all for the role.

Just a brief RL note, our household is being force-migrated to fiberoptic connectivity on Friday. Theoretically it will have minimal impact, but just wanted to make folks aware.

Hopefully it's an upgrade and you don't experience any outages! Thanks for letting us know, just in case.

Thanks. I was worried they might be distracting. The current one is cheating a bit, as I wrote it before, but it's pretty appropriate. Out of curiosity, has anyone caught the songs that I'm parodying so far?
