Don't worry. Ordrud will gladly carry firearms and pick-up Deadly Aim playing switch hitter. I just prioritized melee to start.

OK Folks. I've a surgery on Monday. Nothing life-threatening, it'll just resolve a very painful condition. I'll be offline and in the hospital until Wednesday to Friday. Then, I'll be immobile for several weeks. I've a laptop and wireless for the house, but I don't know how strong my pain medication will be. Therefore, my return to the game is a bit fuzzy to predict.

So Lucent, if you have anything planned in the next week or so that you would want my input before DMPCing Ordrud, please PM me.

I'll definitely be online until Sunday and maybe Monday morning depending on the surgery time.

cheers

I'm going to buy a gun as soon as I can afford an advanced firearm. Probably just a revolver.

Female Human (erutaki) Druid (arctic) 3 / Guardian/Hierophant 1

I remember a Kingmaker game journal here on the boards that had a druid in it with a shotgun. Neutral evil bastard wanting to create a breeding program to create better citizens for their nation. Druid with a shotgun = amusing to me.

Talavuc's probably not going to get a firearm. She's just not all that enthusiastic about new technology.

Same here Talavuc, while part of my is entranced by an Outlaw style gunweilding magus firing "caster shells" I think I will pass on that route.

Bonus points for the Outlaw Star reference. I think you'd get a kick out of something I made a few years back, relatedly:

Shardgun

I designed it with Eberron in mind, back when that was still a thing. It, uh, appears Google Docs does not like the formatting of the document I uploaded, it seems to have murdered the layout, but the text is still visible.

@Ordrud: Just scrolled up and saw your post! I hope everything goes well, focus on getting better and recovering, we'll cover for you when your absence comes :)

@Teladon: Here's Gluttony's thing. The entries get more detailed and the synopsis more interesting as time goes on.

@Styv: It's okay, I know what it's like for a new job to hunger for your soul.

I'll have a gameplay post later this morning.

Lucent,

I don't believe that you posted Fenyx's init. So what are you guys thinking? I think that Rasso hit the nail on the head with drawing them to us rather then trying to charge out to them. I have a Bow with normal and blunt arrows, I'm not sure how everone else is at range. I figure we can get atlease a round or two of ranged attacks before they get to us.

Don't forget the stick up their butts that all elves seem to have. You're doing an amazing job at making me hate them more with your so-far excellent roleplaying of them. :3 And I don't mean that sarcastically. Never did like elves, ever since Legolas - but mainly because of Dwarf Fortress.

Anyhoo, as for the combat, yes we definitely need to hit these guys from range - I'm not sure how strong they are in melee, but we have a defensible position right here. I've already posted a question about firing from the inn's windows. My guy may not be extremely accurate with his musket yet (+4 to attack), but his attacks ignore armor, natural armor, and shields at a range of up to 40 ft - plus, his bullets are considered piercing and bludgeoning, which is awesome. However, I have no real bludgeoning weapons besides that, so I'm going to try and stick to my musket, even if I have to take a full round action to reload the sucker right now.

We definitely should not go to them - not with the snow being so deep.

Oh man, I totally forgot his init roll. Thanks for reminding me! I'll throw it in and add a new initiative list.

I'm stepping up so any other melee people can get out, but I'm not going any further unless these guys start attacking from range. They can presumably move through snow unhindered so going out there would just be asking to get outmaneuvered. Besides I threaten 10 feet, so I'll probably get an AOO or two as they approach.

Thanks for the compliment Marcellano. My intention wasn't for the rest of the group to hate me, but I definitely wanted to be standoffish. I usually play humans, but I thought this might be a good chance to explore a different race. One of the "character arcs" I want to explore as Teladon will be the eventually progression from where I am at now, xenophobic and introverted into becoming a "forlorn" i.e. one of the elves that have spent so much time around humans and other mortal races that they become "tainted" with the "curse" of humanity. I figure I can slow play it out for several books. It should be very fun.

Btw, I am holding off my action. I hope that Fenyx will tell everyone to use blunt attacks. As a player I know that the are suseptable to them, but Teladon would have no idea.

Well, my character doesn't necessarily hate your character, so my hatred of elves is completely a player thing. Elves in Dwarf Fortress are cannibalistic uppity gits. They sell you a wooden item, and if you try and even give it back in friendship, they hate you because you killed a tree. XD

Except for this elf. This elf is the most bad ass elf in existance: Cacame Awemedinade. This Elf's hatred of elves was so profound after elves killed and ate his wife when he was 14, that he inspired the dwarves so much that be came the Elven King of Dwarves and even went on to killing a dragon with a hammer, despite being not very good with the hammer.

Anyhoo.. my character doesn't know that blunt weapons in particular are useful against them, he just knows he's going to stay at range and hit them - it just so happens that his ranged weapon is blunt and piercing, to boot.

Eyeballing the map again, I hope that it isn't isn't too dark or unusual looking. I had fun creating a snowy, night-time down and adding the party's foot paths (and the tracks of the monsters up to round 1) in the snow but I realize I may have gone a bit much on replicating night-time.

I'm struggling to see a combined map with background and icons. Which is the best link?

EDIT

Ordrud will wait for his initiative. His actions depend on what the captain and Rasso do and if Fenyx explains or not.

Lucent, how many rounds have passed for the infernal healing?

Has Ordrud emptied his banquet table into his haversack?

The google drive link is the good one Ordred. It's near the bottom of the combat post.

Male Dwarf Cleric (Forge-Master) / 3 Mythic Guardian 1

I didn't even realize that they were weak against blunt weapons, though I intended to find out the hard way again (like I did with the Zombies) as Ar'Zarrcal isn't the undead expert in this group (Combination of bad rolls and a lack of positive energy)

I agree initially that we should take advantage of range, though my character isn't very useful from a distance.

Marcellano - if you don't completely destroy the window I can repair it with Mending later.

Static image is way too dark for me to see anything on it. I can't see google drive map right now, but I can take a look at it in a eight hours when I can access my desktop.

Heh, just scrolled up and noticed that one.

I estimate Infernal Healing has fully run its course by the time the group goes out.

As for the food, only partly. There's about 15 days worth of food on the table, for one person, in miscellaneous goods (weighing about 100lbs total). I'd say he's got about half of that in his haversack by the time the undead showed up. It won't take long to finish the job outside of combat.

I've made every map used so far, except the one of the town, that's just an edit of an official pathfinder map sans-snow. The map of the Darkmoon Wood is based off of official maps as well, but redrawn entirely.

OK I'll update his HP and write 7 days of freeze-dried food.

Actually freeze-dried food is something far different than simply being frozen - I'm not sure the exact specifics of it, but my mother researched a ton into it as she's writing a post-apocalyptic book where it was used. Its a complicated process.. and being simply 'frozen' isn't anything like it :P

Frozen food doesn't last nearly as long as freeze-dried foods, either, and freeze-dried foods don't even get freezer burn. Not to mention that freeze-dried foods aren't even frozen after the process is applied, its just how they're dried. I think.

In orcish, "freeze dried" actually means "mostly crunchy but still good."

@Talavuc: Would you prefer I have Naasvit go on his own turn to split up your actions, or would you rather he stay on your initiative?

Honestly, I'm indifferent. Whatever is easier for you is what I'd prefer. The biggest difference is during the first round of combat, where I won't be able to command him until I've taken my turn if he's higher on the initiative than me.

I may not be able to post in a timely fashion tonight/tomorrow. If I don't please bot me. I plan to Shoot out of the window with a blunt arrow this round and then next round when the close move up and make an attack with my scimitar in conjunction with casting brand for fire damage. Hopefully I can post, but I wanted to be prepaired and not hold up the party.
