Kast Phaer |
Kast appreciates everyone coming to discuss plans.
"Yeah, I think we need to go back for the pool, the altar, and whatever else might be down there. Tomorrow morning, I'll want to get some supplies from the Church...enough to sanctify the heck out of that place. It might be expensive, but maybe the father will see the good in it.". Kast places his drink on the table.
"Sounds like you guys are with me on this. Danaris, would you want to meet me at sun up at the church? I would have done it today, but I needed time to clear my head and it sounds like he was busy with Ameiko and her jerk brother today," Kast's eyes flicker to Dorin for a moment.
"If you all agree, we can get back in there around noon. I'll want to buy some goods as well."
* * *
Assuming people agree, Kast will talk to the father about exactly what will be needed to do the above.
'Gar' Duncrick |
"In addition to the pool, the journal says that two girls are looking for something or someone that will destroy the whole town. Seems that might be our bigger worry."
EDIT: Hadn't seen Kast's post, so I adjusted mine.
robin |
Father Zanthus will speak with Malcolmand be able to determine that a simple consecrate should allow you to break to break the statue of Lamashtu without problem . He will be able to cast this spell once the area is secured .
Otherwise the consensus seem to be to drain the pool first . since I do not want to run combat which will be won without difficulty . I'll rule that you spend an hour down there but that some healing will have been cast . Prudently you decide to continue the exploration the following day once you are once again at full power
So where do you want to go ? the prison or the other corridor ?
Kast Phaer |
After meeting at the Cathedral and getting supplies/directions/promises of aid on how to sanctify the place, Kast is eager to return underground.
He will be using the ranseur, hoping that the weapon's reach will help him against more mobile foes (pretty much everything short of a beached behemoth).
Going down the halls, Kast would prefer to walk second in the order as to allow him attacks in narrow hallways.
Kast recommends the prison first, then the other corridor.
'Gar' Duncrick |
"Aye let's go. Clean out what we know then set to exploring."
Gar is saving his money for a worthwhile purchase, so no shopping right now.
robin |
The following day , you go back to the prison . The next room contains ancient relics of what appear to be torture implements. In one corner sits a sphericl cage with spikes protuding inward from its iron bars ,. in another stands a star-shaped wooden fram , its surface studded with hooks. and in the center of the room is a long table with leather straps and a number of cranks able to rotate or swivel .
Soory for the delay there , RL interfered. I put a march order on the Map Let me know if I have to make changes
Kast Phaer |
My placement looks fine to me, robin.
Kast grips his ranseur, still trying to get used to the weapon. It's heavy on one end and the blade is angled differently than a longsword (a weapon that is also not used to) and it frequently feels clumsy as he swings it.
A soldier should be good witb many weapons. In time, I will master this one.
Kast will wait for Gar to move, but looks into the room.
1d20 ⇒ 10 Perception
Malcolm Cavendish |
That positioning is appropriate for me as well.
Malcolm looks behind him into the cells that he spent so much time not so long ago. he thanks Abadar for his freedom and looks forward to the advancement of his group of companions.
Dorin Zstel |
(The map looks good, robin. Dorin in the middle, holding a lit torch to provide a light source. Everybody protect the spellcaster! :) )
We need an everburning torch. Dorin thought to himself. I wonder if anybody in town has one to sell. Then he reconsidered. No. The Raise Ameiko fund comes first. Dorin shifted his shoulders, adjusting the new backpack. He mentally reviewed his spells in his mind as the group walked normally in the ancient corridor.
Perception check: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (12) + 1 = 13
robin |
The crumbling remnants of a table, some chairs and some papers clutter the floor of this room. To the south are three cells . Each cell contain a skeleton of a deformed humanoid : the first one has three arms , the second has an enormous deformed skull and the last one has really short legs and a rib cage extending down to the pelvis.
Dorin Zstel |
"The creatures were speaking the Old Tongue." Dorin said as they looked around the prison? Torture chamber? "Maybe one of these papers has a city name on it. I wish Zees had stayed, he knew Thassilonian as well as I do, and I wanted to ask him where he had learned it." Dorin searched the room (and the chambers) and gathered the papers to read.
'Gar' Duncrick |
Gar holds up a hand. " Hold there Boys...something not right here."
Gar gets down low and looks at the floor stones out in front of him.
Perception -> 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (17) + 6 = 23
If needed
Disable Device w/MW tools -> 1d20 + 5 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 5 + 2 = 21
robin |
Suddenly an hideous creature attack Gar from the corner it was hiding in .
1d20 + 5 ⇒ (2) + 5 = 7
Gar 1d20 ⇒ 15
This is a surprise round but Gar due to his perception roll can react before the creature ...
'Gar' Duncrick |
"I think the floor is....Gah!" Without thinking the adze moves to intercept the creature with a defensive swing.
Adze attack vs flat-footed -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (10) + 4 = 14
Adze Damage vs flat-footed -> 1d8 + 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (7) + (6) + 3 = 16
robin |
The creature attacks Gar with the arm handling the longsword (the others arms wield a handaxe and a dagger) shouting 'Koruvus Kill!' .
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 191d8 + 5 ⇒ (5) + 5 = 10
round 1 initiative
Gar 15
Koruvus 7
Kast 1d20 - 2 ⇒ (5) - 2 = 3
Danaris 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 2 = 7
Dorin 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
Malcolm 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
Gar and Dorin can act ...
Oh and from below you can hear moans ...
'Gar' Duncrick |
Gar takes the brunt of a hard blow. He takes another swing back, but then tries to put a little distance between him and his opponent; hopefully to draw him out to allow more of his friends to get a shot at this...this..What the Hells are you?
Adze attack -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Adze Damage -> 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6
5' shift to AQ8
Dorin Zstel |
"A deformed monster, like the skeletons!" Dorin shouted, dropping the lit torch and reaching for his crossbow on his backpack. He hurriedly shook out a crossbow bolt from the box hanging from his pack and loaded the light crossbow.
(Probably a full-round action to do all of that. Dorin will fire next round.)
robin |
Yep it is .
The monster advances cutting the way unto the room and strikes Gar in a flurry of attacks !
Longsword 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (12) + 4 = 161d8 + 5 ⇒ (3) + 5 = 8
Handaxe 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (16) + 4 = 201d6 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
Dagger 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 191d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
He howls with mirth at seeing the result of his attack and shouts ( you can not call this a song with his voice) Goblins chew and goblins bite
Danaris , Malcolm and Kast to act in the rest of round 1
Gar and Dorin in round 2 before the monster strikes again ...
Danaris Krupt |
Seeing the creature gutting Gar, Danaris' shoulders slump, a brief moment of doubt as it appears that once again fate is against his friends and companions. But, just as quickly, Danaris seems to master his doubts as he moves so that he can see Gar and asks for Erastil's blessing.
Move to A06 and channel, excluding the multilimbed goblin
Channel: 1d6 ⇒ 5
Can't get safely to Gar without provoking an attack and getting in everyone's way. Don't like using a channel for only one person, but Gar is at one if I did my math right. A06 should give me line of sight to Gar, allowing the burst to reach him.
Dorin Zstel |
Round 2, map is undersandpoint round
HP=12/12 points, AC=13 (touch 13, flat-footed 10), wearing both gauntlets, speed=30 ft.
Fort=+1, Ref=+3, Will=+4
Spells: inf/5 for 0th/1st; Acid Splash is 1/1; Heavenly Fire is 6/6
"All right, all right, I hear you." Dorin mutters to Kast and Malcolm. The boy stepped to his left (to AO06), leaving the doorway, then retreating behind Malcolm. (AN06, AM06, AL06, AL07) "Now I can't fire!" Dorin complained, looking over Malcolm's and Danaris' shoulders. He stuck a hand past Malcolm's head, saying "Magic Missile!", making the arcane gestures with his right hand as he held the loaded crossbow with his left, aiming at the whatever-it-was.
Magic Missile damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
4 1st-level spells left. Dorin will have to hold action until the doorway is free. Somebody needs to push that thing back to let us get into the room!
Kast Phaer |
Kast will 5' step back to AO7 (assuming that Dorin could 5' step on his turn...all he did was draw/load a crossbow) and swing his new weapon on the thing.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 = 9 to hit;
2d4 + 6 ⇒ (2, 1) + 6 = 9 damage.
Yep...still getting used to this grip and this weapon.
AC = 17 (+4 armor, +3 cha/dex)
HP = 18/18
Spells cast = 0/4
Effects = none
Weapon = Quasitbane the MW ranseur
'Gar' Duncrick |
Round 2
"This thing is all weapons and arms!" Between getting sliced up he feels a wave of healing and knows that Danius is looking out for him, but he can't keep this up.
Adze attack -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (19) + 4 = 23
Adze Damage -> 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (8) + 3 = 11
Finally getting a solid swing in, Gar rolls back (10') to evade another swarm of counter attacks. Acrobatics to AS-9 to avoid AoO vs. Creature CMD -> 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (20) + 9 = 29
Pretty nice round. Thanks Danaris, I was at 1. Robin, what are the tan squares? Are they the floor irregularities Gar was checking on?
robin |
Yes . and the moans seem to come from them
Dorin's magic missile strike the creature and Danaris put himself so he can channel .
round 2
Gar
Dorin
Koruvus (-15 hp)
Danaris
Malcolm
Kast
Gar's attack wounds deeply Koruvus . and then Dorin's Magic missile strikes him
No point in rolling his AoO given Gar's roll ...
Dorin's turn to act and then it will be Koruvus' turn !
Kast Phaer |
Dorin's turn to act and then it will be Koruvus' turn !
I think Dorin posted his Round 2 above (the magic missle), I believe it to be Koruvus' turn, then Danaris. And so forth.
Dorin Zstel |
(Sorry about the slow reply, folks. Wiped out after the 3-day business trip plus a sinus headache. Just returned to the land of the living.)
Round 03 map is undersandpoint round
Stats-Temp Effects
HP=12/12 points, AC=13 (touch 13, flat-footed 10), no armor, wearing both gauntlets, speed=30 ft.
Fort=+1, Ref=+3, Will=+4
Spells: inf/4 for 0th/1st; Acid Splash is 1/1; Heavenly Fire is 6/6
(Robin, I moved my character on the map to where I mentioned him going to last round.)
Seeing only one person in front of him (Kast) as everyone scattered, Dorin lifted his loaded crossbow and fired.
Ranged Attack: 1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (17) + 4 - 4 = 17 (With -4 for firing into melee.)
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Dorin then reloaded the light crossbow. "Take that, you big ugly!" he taunted the...whatever it was.
(Edit...Hahahaha...ninja'ed, robin! And the same damage, magic missile vs. light crossbow. I'll go with the crossbow if I can.)
Danaris Krupt |
Seeing the combat shift further into the room, Danaris slips into the chamber, trying to get a clear shot at the goblin thing.
Danaris moves to AQ6
Once positioned, he fires an arrow at the creature.
Attack:1d20 + 4 - 4 ⇒ (13) + 4 - 4 = 13
Damage: 1d8 ⇒ 5
Kast Phaer |
Round 2
Kast will limp to AR7 and strike at the creature.
1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 to hit;
2d4 + 6 ⇒ (1, 2) + 6 = 9 damage.
Better. That's more like a soldier!
AC = 17 (+4 armor, +3 cha/dex)
HP = 18/18
Spells cast = 0/4
Effects = none
Weapon = Quasitbane, the MW ranseur
'Gar' Duncrick |
Round 3
Gar feels the creature's blade connect with great force, but his armor holds. The others are now hitting it and Gar tries to finish it off.
Adze attack -> 1d20 + 4 ⇒ (7) + 4 = 11
Adze Damage -> 1d8 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4
If the creature is not finished off by the others, he will again tumble away 10' to AU-9Acrobatics vs CMD -> 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
