Actual rules stuff.

Seems with the -4, Kast still disarms the item, so he should be holding it. The things I learn when I take the time to look them up :-)

Either way, I think it's ours and we now can battle this thing on more even footing. We'll see how robin rules.

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Good call Gar, but Robin informed me that I only had a move action, so no double move (run), just my normal 20' move.

Actually Gar is too far to come and pick up the symbol but someone can still do it easily

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

On the map.
Malcolm has moved to AN20.
Dorin has moved to AO24 and is reloading his crossbow.
Kast has moved to AN18.
Gar is at AP30.
Zees at AP26 has cast a Magic Missile.
Danaris has not moved yet and might be able to run up to AM18 to help Kast and step on that unholy symbol....

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Danaris up, I guess. We have no initiative order presently.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 2

Sorry for holding things up.
Seeing that he has a clear line to the symbol, Danaris charges to grab the thing. "Kast is going to kill for running into the open like this." Once he grabs the symbol, he will ready the net, hoping to trap the demon soon.

Danaris move to the square the symbol is in . The quasit tries a desperate move to pick it up before any of you .
Danaris and Kast each have an AoO against the quasit.

1d20 + 5 ⇒ (17) + 5 = 22 CMB to Grapple the Quasit

"You. That's not yours. I told you it's mine now. This temple is ours. We're going to dedicate it to bunnies."

Kast will hold the quasit tight.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 2

While Kast grapples the quasit, Danaris will be sure to grab the holy symbol.

I assume I'm still wielding the net. Not sure if I can make an attack of opportunity with it.

Male Human - Varisian Wizard 1 - Universalist

Zees watches the struggle in the other room and glances over at the water.

I sure hope nothing hops out of there.

The quasit is indeed grappled .
Ok you can act
Proposed order
Kast
Malcolm
Dorin
Zees
Danaris
Gar

I believe Kast is done.

"Somebody bring me a sack. And some rope."

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Malcolm brings his 50' silk rope to bear and assists in tying up the quasit.

Robin: What rolls are needed, if any?

Male Human - Varisian Wizard 1 - Universalist

The plan worked?

Zees waits for the quasit to be dealt with. Delay until there is something else to deal with.

So far the quasit is only grappled not pinned so you can not tie it up . Being the first grappler , Kast is the only one who can pin it , the others making the aid another action if they want to assist

Male Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 2

After picking up the unholy symbol. Danaris will head over to assist Kast. "I don't have a sack, but I do have the net."

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

Dorin ran up (AM18), dropping the crossbow and getting the empty sack attached to his backpack. "Keep it from doing another evil channel, Kast!" he said. (Will assist next round - CMD is a d20 roll, correct?)

Kast , do you want to make a roll to pin the quasit now . Last one was just your AoO ?

Ah. I think I missed that. Thanks for the bump.

1d20 + 5 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 + 5 = 11 CMB to maintain grapple on my turn

"Crap. The little bugger slipped free."

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Malcolm will attempt to grab the slippery quasit, taking the AoO.

CMB: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19

Gar still holds Ameiko ready to run for it. With yells of Kast capturing it, he starts forward. But then yells of its escape give him pause. He is preparing to set her body down and draw his adze, but he really does not want to leave her body in this room alone.

It did not escape . It would still be grappled just not pinned yet .
And with Malcolm aiding Kast , it is in fact pinned

Ok , since it can not channel without its symbol and is in fact out of spells . I'll hurry things along . Just tell me what you want to do with it now .

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Holding the creature's head away from Malc, Kast will speak aloud.

"Destroy it? No. We're going to teach it to meditate. And decorate it with flowers, Malc. We're going to give this creature a life of peace and quiet."

1d20 + 3 ⇒ (7) + 3 = 10 Bluff

Kast winks at Malc.

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

Dorin attempted to help with the grapple.

1d20 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3

But thinking better of it, he will just hold the sack for the others to stuff the quasit inside.

"Uhm...thank you for your 'help' Dorin." Kast continues to wrestle with the demon.

"Malc, maybe you could get the net from Danaris and join me in wrapping this thing up? Or maybe you want to try to disarm it of his dagger? It would be nice to have it out of his hands before we wrap it in the net."

Kast looks at Gar coming closer.

"Gar, after we wrap it in the net, I'll hold it and you and Malc can end it's life? Malcolm, take my cold iron sword, please."

Let's just end this thing and move on. Kast wants to take the body to the surface and to the mage and wants the (un)holy symbol for his mantle, to hang next to the goblin dogcatcher he got earlier.

Male Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 2

Danaris happily hands the net to whoever wants it. Malcolm, I suppose. Then he whispers, in common, "Should we interrogate this demon before disposing of it. Perhaps it knows something about the threat facing Sandpoint. Though it may just tell lies."

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Malcolm assists with the nbet to secure the Quasit, then he draws the cold iron sword and places the point at the creatures throat.

Ask away before I skewer this pest!

I'll give everyone a chance to speak till tomorrow evening and the I'll consider the consensus is to kill the quasit . I'll assume you then go back to town

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Sounds good to me...I will not be speaking, just waiting to kill it!

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

Dorin draws his dagger, then considers just backhanding the quasit with his cold iron spiked gauntlet. "I say we kill it, after what it did to Amieko. You played the game too harshly, you lose." he told the imp and others.

Oh, we are killing it, definitely. It's just hard for Kast to do by himself when he's grappling. Kast just wants to kill it without rage or hate, but in a calm, controlled manner...no sense giving the quasit the violent bloody end that would honor it's deity. Instead, Kast wants the quasit to enter death knowing the depth of it's failure and how this area will soon be re-dedicated to Irori as a place of serene calm meditation.

When Malc has the cold iron sword, Kast will help calmly butcher the quasit to death, going as far as to decapitate it and remove the tongue. (He wants to ensure against undeath.). When finished, he will place it in Danaris' offered sack, gather all the loot available, and return to town. I believe they will go straight to the Church for the burial of Ameiko.

With the way clear, Gar pushes past the butchery carrying Ameiko. "Someone should grab her brother. Let's go."

The quasit is quickly dispatched and you go back to the surface with the bodies of Tsuto and Ameiko.
These are taken to the cathedral to join the remains of the Glassworks workers and a burial is planned for the morrow .
The mayor Kendra Deverin is happy to hear that the menace below is mainly dealt with and asls you if you intend to go back there to continue exploring the place . Otherwise , she will have the exits bricked .
the attitude of the town is indeed somber . While they are happy you survived , most of the town evoke this as a second 'Unpleaseantness' similar to what happened some years ago. On the plus side , it seems that Ven Vinder while still thinking Kast is a vile seducer of an innocent girl has relented his attitude toward the rest of you .

During the rest of the day , you can look more closely at what you recovered :
To recap
A composite short bow (+1 strength)
A ring of protection + 1
Masterwork thieves tools
Masterwork flute
Silver earrings ( the pair 25 gp )
6 pouches of gold dust (50 gp each)
8 pouches of silver dust (5 gp each)
10 pp
Masterwork ranseur (if you took it) : 400 gp for art
Miniature tiara of the quasit : 50 gp
Miniature silk gown of the quasit : 25 gp
Obsidian symbol of Lamashtu 10 gp if a buyer can be found
Tiny +1 returning dagger
And last but not least the journal of Tsuto is filled with strategic map of Sandpoint depicting the erstwhile attack of Sandpoint by 50 goblins but also several plans of attack by 300 goblins . In the plans are noted the presence of Ripnugget (chief of the thistletop goblins) and Bruzthamus (the bugbear ranger Shalelu has an ongoing feud with) and someone called Orik. Most of these have been scratched and there is several notations indicating Tsuto was unsure of the help that the quasit (named Erylium by the way) could give and also make notions that if Malfeshnekor is freed from Thistletop , all this will be unnecessary .
There are also some pictures of a young woman recognisable as Nuala , the last one might disturb you ...

Here are some excerpts of the journal
" Success. We recovered the bones without problem while the goblins were sacrificed to please Eryllium . with luck , she will lend us her freaks for the real attack"
" I must convince my love that Ameiko would be a great addition to us. she was the only one in the whole town to try to help when my so-called Father was beating me on the pretext of discipline. killing him will be a fate long deserved but she does not deserve to be sacrificed with the rest of the town. On my own I would let them be but my love is convinced that this is necessary for her to be rid of her celestial taint and assume the full glory of her divine mother. Not sure I really like this but I do love her . She also suffered in this 'expletive' town and was also beaten by the so called good Father when she fell pregnant because of this cur from Magnimar . Wh share this and love will surely triumph at the end . "
" I have convinced Nuala to let me go kill this 'expletive' with some goblins while she and the mousy girl explore the lower levels to find Malfeshnekor. I'll come back with ameiko and am sure She and Her will be the best of friends then. "
This is in fact the last entry ...

Kast definitely took the MW Ranseur. He wants it for his wall, next to his goblin dogcatcher and the (soon-to-be-broken) unholy symbol of Lamashtu. However, we might want to sell and split the ranseur.

After taking care of Ameiko at the Cathedral, Kast will wish for nothing more than to sleep the night away, happy to be alive.

He will, of course, return the borrowed cold iron longsword to the owner.

On the morning, he will look to sorting and selling the treasure (see OOC thread) and think about the next steps in his life. Certainly, the goblin threat is pressing, but Kast wonders about his future goals. Now that he has a bit of coin in his pocket, he debates whether to make a run for Lastwall, to join the soldiers there.

Of course, he also desires to make good on his promise to the imp, sanctifying and committing the underground altar from Lamashtu to Irori, meditation, and rabbits.

Male Human - Varisian Wizard 1 - Universalist

With everyone returned to town, Zees gathers his few items and walks away in the night.

This town is doomed. Hopefully, more will realize it and save themselves. Maybe I can learn enought elsewhere to return and really help. Maybe I'll die on the roads.

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

Dorin helped move the bodies to the church. He doesn't care much for the treasure and equipment, but before Kast sells it off, he tells him "Ameiko always said that if I brought anything back to The Rusty Dragon, she would get the best price for it. Let me try to sell the items, for her sake."

(Robin, using the "Favored Son - Ameiko" APG trait to get an additional 10% from selling the items. Will you approve this?)

Dorin will also return the borrowed weapons, and take the head of Erylium the quasit to Daviren Hosk at the Goblin Squash Stables and ask him to pickle it for the townspeople to see. (Wrath? Revenge? Oh no....surely not from young Dorin.)

Then Dorin will go to see Father Abstalar Zantus at the Cathedral and beg for him to use clerical magic to bring Ameiko Kaijitsu back to life. He'll offer every gold piece he has, and payments of future gold. Anything. Even if Father Zantus can't do the spell, can he do a Gentle Repose until Dorin can get a Raise Dead spell to bring Ameiko back? What about buying a scroll from Magimar? This is his adopted mother, a merchant of the community, a person of the founding families. Dorin is heartbroken.

(This is Dorin's last attempt at correcting his mistake today, Robin. After this, it will be a Resurrection scroll in the far future. Dorin's got a long memory and he does hold a grudge.)

Dorin agrees with the others to go back to the tunnels and clear the place out the next day or so.

Gar takes Ameiko's body to the cathedral, but then leaves with just the words, "I'll be at the docks."

He stops at the quiet Rusty Dragon and drinks a silent salute, then buys a bottle and takes it down to the shipyard. He drinks and hacks at a discarded mast with his adze until he passes out.

The next day, after treasure is sold, Kast will spend most of his time doing two things: practicing the with his new ranseur and detailing the account of what happened into his journal.

Every detail that he can recall will go into the journal as he plans to leave it for others should something happen to him.

Limping (his body is still sore and bruised from the recent encounters) to the end of the cliff (not far from the lighthouse), Kast will begin with the simple martial motions with the polearm before attempting more difficult maneuvers.

Twirling the ranseur with two hands (his shield lies nearby), he recants facets of the mantra of Irori while practicing his forms.

I lift my head to look forward.
My body is the combination of my heart and mind at peace.
My actions are defined by my thoughts.
Pain is just my body's way to tempering itself towards Irori.
I am the disciple of Irori, though practice, meditation, and study I serve him.

* * *

Kast will ask one of his school children from the Academy to deliver notes to Malcolm, Gar, Dorin, & Danaris asking them to meet him at the Rusty Dragon at sundown to discuss what they have learned and next steps.

* * *

Kast ponders his next steps:
1) Clean out the UnderSandpoint.
2) Dedicate area to Irori.
3) Discuss goblin threat.
4) Poems to Marigold Pottersmoot?
5) Go to Lastwall?

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Malcolm will spend many hours in meditation at the Cathedral upon his return. His primary focus is on returning to the dungeons under Sandpoint to finish the job of vanquishing the evil therein. After meditation, he impresses upon Father Abstalar the impoprtance of bringing Ameiko back from the dead, if at all possible. Her loss can be felt throughout Sandpoint, but especially with Dorin, her friend. Finally, Malcolm will spend his free time sparring with Kast to further develop a relationship with the quirky, but quite valuable companion. After all, with Abadar's assistance, Kast and the others were able to save his life. He wonders how Gar is doing, and plans to see him shortly. Danaris is a constant companion of his at the Cathedral.

As Kast leaves the practice cliffs with Malcolm, he will remind the man about his dinner invite for later that night.

Kast will return home to clean up and tend to his weapons before going to the Rusty Dragon an hour before sunset.

I could use some time alone with a drink.

Along the walk to the Rusty Dragon, Kast will continue to recount all the events of the last few days in his mind, scouring them for bits of knowledge and experience to be gained.

* * *

Arriving at the Rusty Dragon, Kast will sit himself at a table meant for 5 or 6, order a drink, and wait.

After washing up after practice with Kast, Malcolm enters the Rusty Dragon with Danaris, whom he left with from the Cathedral. They join kast at the table.

Anyone seen Gar or Zees?

Gar makes an appearance. He has his pack, and adze and tosses them down by the table. Not wearing his armor, his shirt had been sweat through, but has now dried. By the smell, he has sweat out last night's liquor. He goes to the bar and brings back a pitcher of ale and settles in. "Need to stick to the light stuff if'n we are heading back down there."

Not having taken the time yesterday, he flips through Tsuto's journal as he takes pulls from the pitcher. He throws the book back on the table dismissively, "This Puke talked of 'His Love' and 'the mousy girl' still exploring down there. Looking for a Malfa-somthing to do their dirty work. I imagine them finding that person or thing will not be good for the town."

Kast will re-read the journal, making mental notes, while he waits for Dorin to show up.

He's probably still at the temple, pleading his case. I'm sorry that she is gone, but she's gone.

"Speaking of gone, Zees is gone too." Kast starts speaking as if the others were following his internal thoughts

"Zees left. Said he was going to the Occupy Absalom movement demanding equal distribution of magic at the Academy there. I asked him to stay with us, but he took his share of the loot and wanted to go. Felt there were other battles to be waged. I could not sway him otherwise."

Male Human (Chelaxian) Cleric 2

Danaris walks into the Rusty Dragon. He's been absent for a while. After the horrors beneath the town, he spent some time visiting his sister and her family in the hinterlands of Sandpoint and then returned to the cathedral to attend to his priestly duties.

Seeing the group gathered at a table, he joins them, his natural reticence tinged with sorrow at the somberness of recent events.

"It's a shame a to lose Zees. I understand the desire to leave, especially considering recent events. But Sandpoint is home. Someone has to defend it."

Male Human (Varisian) Paladin/9 Warrior of the Holy Light/HP: 90/93/AC: 21(22)/CMB: 15/CMD: 27/Init: 2/Perc: 7

Robin: Do we get XP?

Of course you do get xp but as I already said , levelling in this adventure path is a b+@$+ to figure for the DM . I much prefer to tell you when you do . And not yet ...

Father Abstalar looks at Dorin, compassion in his eyes [b] 'I would be happy to do it if I could my son but my power is not enough and I'm afraid that the resources of our town are not enough to do it .
A scroll of Raise Dead by itself cost 6125 gp and if you want to engage the services of one powerful enough to cast it without chance of failure , you would have to add 450gp to the cost and that is with bringing the body to him . I 'm sorry but you need to say your goodbyes. I'll see you tomorrow morning at the funeral before you head down again "

In memory of Ameiko the townspeople are happy to buy the items at 110% of their value . that means the items not the silver or gold dust

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

(Well, Dorin tried.)

Dorin can barely keep back his tears as he swallowed and said, "I understand, Father. But it's not right."

Dorin will spend the rest of the day helping Kast sell the stuff at the Rusty Dragon. He will also realize with Lonjiku Kaijitsu and Ameiko Kaijitsu, the town has lost both the Glassworks as well as the Rusty Dragon. Who will inherit both businesses in the town?

"An entire family, dead in a day - father, son, daughter." he told the others at the table.

Dorin will ready himself for the 3rd trip down below the Glassworks.

The funerals for the workers of the glassworks and Ameiko are accompanied by an heavy rain. The mood of the town is somber given what happened and many question what will happen to the glassworks .
In this atmosphere of doom , you equip yourself to go back to the tunnels under Sandpoint .
Where do you wish to go ?

Male Human (Varisian) Sorcerer 2D6

(Need to know the 110% total, Kast. Minus the wand of CLW, of course.)

(We have choices - destroy the evil pool right off the bat, or do some exploring in the 2nd or 3rd tunnel? That 3rd tunnel was the prison that we didn't finish because we doubled back.)
