I'm guessing this is a VERY nice loot for Emrys :D
Not sure if Brenton can use the breastplate - would be useful for him also.
All can benefit from the Cloak of Resistance, and the rest can be sold I believe.

Blank holiday today in my country. I will be out with the family most of the day. Will catch up probably on the last posting period.

My suggestion:
To whomever claims the cloak of resistance, such as Zeriax, we can roll for it, or even better, GM-JC can roll for us.
Zeriax is not claiming anything else.

In my other PbP with GM-JC, we have a system of loot vs. cash - I propose we use the same here. And again, any of us could find use for that medallion.
I'm not sure what loot vs. cash system is :)
Current loot list that I'll put into HL this weekend...
Spellbook: comprehend languages, detect secret doors, floating disc, identify, locate object, minor image, obscuring mist, see invisibility, sleep, and spider climb, invisibility, mirror image, shatter, burning hands, grease, mage armor, ray of enfeeblement. - Emrys
Wand of Magic Missle CL3 - 14 charges left. - Emrys
Wand of Mirror Image - 7 charges left. -Emrys
cloak of resistance +1 -Hardegon
Amulet of Somethin' arather... Emrys
+1 Bastard Sword -Selling for party gold
+1 Breastplate -Selling
masterwork composite longbow -Selling
1,200gp of various gems, jewelry and coins.
Est Party Gold = 1200+1150+650+250= 3250 /4

Guys, VERY basic spreadsheet where I will tally our loot from here onwards.
Should be accessible to everyone who has the link. For the time being only I have editing priovileges - its raw, I'll embelish it as we go ;)
Let me know if you can access it and/or if you would like something done differently.
Do you still plan on maintaining a spreadsheet for loot?
Zeriax
@GM-JC: Loot vs. Cash was just a name I used to refer the method of accounting for totalling the money worth of each characters' gear, when deciding how to spread the gold :D
Please do not assign the amulet immediately to Emrys, as it can be used by any of us - since Hardegon received a saves boosting item and Brenton does not want it, I would roll between me and Emrys.
Contingencies:
- Since Emrys got a boatload of loot, I would like to have the medallion;
- If Hardegon wants to roll on the medallion, I would vote he trades in the cloak if he wins;
- In the end, if none of the above are valid for you guys, I think we should roll as above
@Hardegon: I believe that GM-JC has called off the Quartermaster position?

Yeah...I've seen loot handled a variety of ways. I've seen arguments both for and against your proposal, Zeriax. For example, if Kyle takes a wand of Cure Serious Wounds from a monster (which has a high value), should that really count as part of his gear value? After all, he's obviously going to be using that, more time than not, to heal other people.
The most fair way, from a Gold Value point of view, is also one of the more meta ways...which is...all items are sold and gold split evenly, period. Characters are then free to spend that gold to buy any item at retail price, or any item found in the past at 1/2 retail price. Certain found items, at GM discretion, may be available only in limited quantity, while most would have unlimited quantity whenever possible to allow fair and equal access to all players who want said item. Items that benefit the whole party, such as a wand of curing, would probably be something the entire party pools their gold to buy.
While somewhat meta, this insures equal party value among all members, without the constant need for math, micromanaging and/or re-evaluation.
As far as my call to assign it to Emrys, I waited for 3 hours... through a posting period, and it seemed to be the consensus at the time. Let's keep my current loot rules in mind until we decide on a new method. Those rules are thus...
When I list item(s), you guys get to call for what you want. In the case that more than one player wants an item and the team seems somewhat divided on who can use an item better or whatnot, I will roll a d100 to determine who gets that item.
If you're not going to be available for a posting period or three, it is highly recommended that you post you will be gone so we keep that in mind during the decision making process. Otherwise, you may miss out on leet lewt :P
With that being said, If you all want someone else to have it, or you want to do the d100 roll at this point, I don't really care. Below are d100's I'm rolling for each of you in the case of the amulet.
Brenton: 1d100 ⇒ 20
Emrys: 1d100 ⇒ 4
Hardegon: 1d100 ⇒ 57
Zeriax: 1d100 ⇒ 77

To be honest, given the lack of instant communication inherent with Pbp, I'm kinda leaning towards this idea I just listed, as everything is automatically liquidated, and there doesn't need to be a conversation each time a new piece of gear is found. Such conversations happen quickly at the table (including where I occasionally review the party's gear value for reference), but in Pbp, it drags at best. If we did it this way, everyone gets sold value in gold automatically. Then, I maintain a spreadsheet list in the shared folder of those found items available at 1/2 price to the entire group. It requires the lest amount of conversation, management and insures fairness though the party. I think the only discussions you guys would need to have then is sharing costs for curatives and maybe overall gear strategies as a group...but individual things would be your own personal decisions. Mind you, with this method, I would strongly discourage borrowing/giving money to one another as well to maintain proper GP balance. Thoughts?

BTW...I need you all to email me the Pathfinder Society ID number of the character you want me to make the sheet out for. We're just about done with the sanctioned rooms, so you qualify for the tier 3-5 3xp sheet here. It should be in the format XXXXX-X. Let me know if you have any questions. Thank you.

JC, just checking the party sheets and I think I'm missing 4pps. I am at the friendship level with Aldern and Ameiko.
I bought a random attribute when you had a blue light special to purchase them for 4 instead of 6. I got Dex which was my only even number at that point so asked for another but the sale was over. I must have had the other 4pps to ask for another discounted attribute but they aren't showing on my sheet.

People, just a heads up: I will be away with the family during the weekend, most likely until Tuesday - feel free to proceed with my character if needed.
Cheers

I have uploaded a relationships and loot Excel worksheet to the shared folder (Read Only). Moving forward, we will be using the new 'loot' rules. If you cannot read the file, let me know. I can always convert it to PDF.
Loot Rules for Play by Post
The communication in Pbp games is quite different than table games. The simple matter of deciding who gets a +1 Holy Mace takes 5 minutes in a table top game (or less) but can drag on for a week or more in Pbp. Oftentimes, critical items are forgotten as busy players forget where those discussion were left. After seeing this happen many times, I have decided to implement a new system based strongly on the Pathfinder Society system that, while meta, works really well at not only answering that question, "Who gets what?," but also helps to give everyone an equal opportunity to be at the same wealth level.
Finding and Identifying Items.
When you find a magic piece of gear, it is important to correctly identify and appraise it. Spells like Detect Magic, Identify and skills such as Spellcraft and the appropriate knowledge checks can all help with this. Once you identify it, for the sake of simplicity, the appraisal process is hand-waved. The current value of the item is added to the 'party loot' pile for that adventure. Please keep in mind that while that number is usually 50% of the retail value found in the book, it may often fluctuate higher or lower based on supply and demand. The party may use any of these items during that particular adventure (a dungeon, for example), but they will not be added to the character sheet. Once that adventure is done, those items disappear and the value is added to the 'party loot'.
Obtaining Items
A party member may buy any item on the loot table at the published current value. While each purchase is generally limited to one per players, multiple players may purchase a copy of the same item for the published current value. Items marked "unique" are the exception. Only one player may purchase those items. (Only applies to certain artifacts).
Sharing Items
Players are strongly discouraged from sharing items. The exception to this are healing items/charges/etc.
Cashing Out
At the end of particular adventure (a dungeon, for example), the 'party loot' is calculated by adding gold/gems/etc found with the value of items discovered (which, as mention before, disappear!). This gold is generally divided evenly among players as they see fit. If a player character died, or needed expensive healing after the adventure, the party may opt to pay for that out of the party loot amount before dividing it up. Otherwise, the gold is distributed evenly and any curing needed is paid for out of one's own gold reserves.
Let me know if you have any questions on this :)

Not sure if I am allowed to retcon my last action. I did warn I would be absent, but I guess Zeriax was not DMPCed so, if retconning:
Right. Keep in mind, I never DMPC type of deal. However, a few months ago, I did introduce a houserule to allow players the ability to take two turns if they miss one or more (as long as its not abused) to help address the issue of people occasionally missing a post.
Zeriax
If you guys are fine with it, Zeriax is just gonna grab that amulet of natural armor for the time being :D
Zeriax
Actually you are right Emrys - totally forgot Natural Armor stacks with
everything - I stand corrected, one of you guys should have the amulet.
Zeriax
I was referring to the possibility of carrying it around until the "dungeon" finishes.

So, I'm going to PaizoCon next week (anyone going?) I won't set an exact date...but at some point on Tuesday or Wednesday, I'll no longer be able to post regularly as I go into full time CON prep mode. (I'm running a lot of games). Chances are I won't be able to post until Tuesday, July 8th.
Then, on the following week, I will be on vacation. I will have very limited internet access from July 14-20th as the missus and I celebrate our 15th anniversary.

I am going to sidewind this again - I don't think our characters are optimized enough to handle this AP, and I am being totally upfront about it - I have heard people talking about APs being easy - REALLY?
I am just saying this because I don't think we are actually being challenged - we are not being decimated due to sheer luck and Brentons' unbeliavable source of healing.
Please think about this guys, has there been any fight, won or not, that you don't feel we are taking a beating?

Hmmm....but the opposite of that would be...cake-walking through encounters?
I believe in my house rules, I address that I tend to handwave encounters that you would cake walk through. What that means if you're left with typically just the harder encounters. I also point out that occasionally players may fight forces where they are overwhelmed...and should not hesitate to consider using outside-the-box tactics including defensive actions, consumables, and even withdrawal and retreat.
Occasionally (Usually once per campaign) there is an encounter that's really set too difficult for the party for story purposes..but most ARE winnable if you're properly prepared and a balanced party. Since that's not always the I give that above advice in my house rules. Do NOT go into every battle thinking you will win. This world (of Golarion) is a dangerous place.
There are a number of things I could point out that would have (some of which you guys have actually discussed in the past) evened the odds against the pooches here...maybe even some decisions in combat that would have been more optimal. But, I'm not going down that road. When the GM starts telling the players how to play, I think that's not a fun environment. I don't mind giving advice, especially to new players, but I don't want to tell others how to play their characters. Lady luck has also been spanking some of you hard (especially Orik, really). And when Desna herself turns your back on you, it's hard to win.
Regardless, below is a bit spoilerific for the purpose of addressing the concern, partially, but at the cost of knowing stuff you wouldn't normally know. None of it tells you how to play your character, but provides some meta info about this dungeon. Click at your own risk.
Regardless, you've pretty much already killed the person causing the problems at Sandpoint...the lady who was organizing the goblins. Mission accomplished... and up to that point, none of you died or antyhing (I'm not even sure if any of you KO'd), so I'm not convinced of a balance issue. Everything else you do is gravy at this point. I understand the motivation for wanting to push into the other rooms as good heroes, but along with being brave, your heroes should be cautious...they are in a stronghold of evil, and they are still, relatively inexperienced. So, temper the desire to want to be super heroic with some discretion, as you might if you were a hero in a temple full of unknowns :)

From my character's perspective, these dogs will probably hunt us down if we flee and I don't think a closed door will stop them.
I think we had a pretty good balance of a party with Orik as a frontliner, rogue, wiz and healer so I just think this is a tough AP.
The problem we have now is that with Orik dead we have no frontline to stand in front of the more squishy wiz, monk and priest. But let's see if we all survive to have that discussion :)

Well, don't be too hard on the AP. I take blame/responsibility/credit where its due. Unlike PFS, I do not run these encounters exactly as written...probably 50-70% of the time. The rest of the time, I will change things. Some of the easier encounters I hand wave or combine with other easy encounters. Other encounters I adjust (normally up a bit). Generally I use the same monsters and the such (though not always), after all, that's less work for me. I use the CR calculations to make those determinations.
Occasionally, I do make mistakes in my CR calculations (I have a spreadsheet for everything, lol), but generally, PF is balanced and the CR calculations, if done right, can create truly challenging encounters without being overwhelming. But, yes, as my long time players can attest to, you will generally feel challenges nearly every step of the way in my games, especially in battles....but rarely overwhelmed, especially if you play with a cool head. I've only had one TPK in three years of running a LOT of campaigns and games (AP, PFS and homebrew). I've had maybe a dozen player deaths or so.
Zeriax
Well, I can find no reason to not stand our ground, even if I try to factor in the uncanny wisdom on my character for a more survivability oriented decision.
The thing is... I I have always had issues with the "we have just killed the bad guy that was planning this so we can go" approach. There are a lot of ways one can go about this reasoning but it ends up boiling down to the fact that:
- we have taken down one of the bad guys, ok granted good job and a round of applause to us all because we did well;
- but in fact we found an even worse bad guy than the one initially fought, undoubtedly more dangerous overall - we decided to let it stay put for the time being - granted we may equate coming back later but this is too much based on assumptions - we are assuming that it won't leave that particular room, that it does not have allies somewhere else that it can contact over a distance to bring revenge on Sandpoint, etc etc. But bottom line, we concluded that we could not handle it, so we made the decision to retreat;
- I can eat up a lot of meta stuff, but what my character cannot eat up (and keep in mind most of the above is from the characters' perspective) is that we take down the bad girl, and in spite we don't REALLY understand the actual purpose of what that bad girl was up to, we wave the option to lay the evil chapel down and we back out "perhaps to return another day" - that is something that this Lawful Good character cannot do (as an attitude, I think it is a far throw from Lawful Stupid :D), and we already did something similar in town;
- From another perspective, there are some characters that believe certain things are worth dying for... Parallel to Emrys rational evaluation, if we don't stop these creatures here and now, what is preventing them from flying off into town, now that the door is open, arriving there way before us and wreaking havoc in the whole place?
For a mix of the reasons above, Zeriax will stay and fight.
@GM-JC: I can perfectly understand handwaving encounters that are cake walk, but on the other hand you risk the feeling that "we are always taking a beating" - There is no game without a challenge, but the truth of the matter is, sometimes the characters need to fell... Dunno... Grand? Powerful? Strong?
And Zeriax is not throwing up his hands in the air, he is perfectly dead set on his decision - the player is throwing out his hands in the air and going "Really?", hence the OOC, as a way to launch a discussion on what people could eventually be planning on doing.
Again, Zeriax is staying back, though I perfectly understand anyone that bails out ;)

I wrote out a LONG reply to this....constructive, of course :) But, it gets to a point where it's counterproductive and easily mis-construed.
Anyway, Z, at this point, I highly recommend you give me a call on Skype and/or the tele. I think you're in another country, so Skype is the best bet there. I'm jcservant7 . Add me as a friend, and we'll work out a time to chat. Thanks.
If any of you share any of these concerns, please shoot me off an email.
