GM-JC, will you roll for me or shall I? Good to know we are ready to go.
Hey, and a HAPPY NEW YEAR to all if we don't speak before that!!
P.S. GM-JC did I complete the gear for Zeriax?

![]() |

Hmmm...turns out ya don't roll because it conflicts with another choice you already made on the character. Oh well. I see no gear at all. Still at 150gp.
Game has begun, though another person may be joining. Remember, this is a secondary game for me...so there may be times I don't get to post if work is really busy.

Zeriax |

WOHOO!!! Lets go!!
Am sending you my gear list right now GM-JC.

Meh, I always like the randomness in those Tiefling characteristics... Never mind then.
Don't worry about the pace on this one - From my part, I thank you for having taken the time to do this ;)

Guys, I was just thinking... What if my monk suddenly would turn into a Zen Archer (without being smitten into oblivion by GM-JC, both the character and me :D) - how or who, if anyone could hold off a frontline, if anyone?
Just throwing it out there cause I had a nasty, nasty idea :D

![]() |

Hehehe...I'll let you read the pages and pages of forum posts on the Zen Archer.
Recent changes to the monk overall addresses some of that concern while making the class more appealing. Monks can now flurry with only melee weapon if they wish, and the cost of the amulet of the might fist has come down.

Zeriax |

It is sweeeeet. But we would still need a tank :/

Megekki |

I can take next level as an Oracle, and get medium armor. Actually, I could wear heavy armor, even, if I never planned on doing casting of Witch spells in combat. And CON is my one good stat, but I don't know what besides Intimidate could convince people I deserved Aggro.
I guess I'm saying I don't know if I'd be a good tank, but I'm not so good at whatever else I'm doing that we lose much by me trying.

Zeriax |

The beauty of it is that it may actually be a really great switch hitter, with a slight disadvantage as far as AC may go but nothing overly dramatic in my opinion. I feel like trying it (if GM-JC allows me to create a spin off Zeriax...)
I'll do it and send him just for the heck of it :D

Zeriax |

None that I am aware of...

I believe there is something mentioned on the 'conventions of Pbp' original thread that I referenced to a long time ago (and perhaps still referenced in the house rules). Basically, you are free to do it :) I would imagine it goes something like this...
Emrys speaks in Elvish.
I'm pausing the game for little bit while I review a proposal sent by a play that have obvious impact on things moving forward. Stay tuned!

![]() |

Yes I though id seen something about it but couldn't find the post. Id like to use Welsh in place of Elvish for example.
Ewch I mewn, ffrind heddwch.
Tolkiens Elvish, Sindarin, was originally based on welsh apparently

We could use two bow characters. I have been wanting to play one that focuses on one shot damage so my sole purpose would be to disrupt spellcasters. An archer that can flurry would be optimal because they could stand in one spot and flurry the whole time. other monks could only flurry if they were close enough to someone to do so.

Zeriax |

Apologies for my unusual absence people, but today I was GMing my first official registered PFS event!! WOHOOOO!!

![]() |

My humble apologies for not posting at all today, until now. I tried to post this morning, but the Paizo site was down. This afternoon, I had no internet connection on my side. It has not been a Disney day! I should be done with the flu, back in the office and back up with regular posting times by Monday. So we'll focus on everyone being on board at that point. Have a happy weekend, and do NOT get the flu. It's EVIL!

Zeriax |

No worries at all man, on my end things have been complicated also > it seems that my IT resources decided it is time for renewal > USB PC hubs, HDD, all are crashing around me...

Zeriax |

GM-JC, may I ask if Thedrid left because he had some dislike of the group in some way?

Megekki |

Following on Emrys' 'comparing notes', working ahead, guessing sharing spells is intended. Megekki's spells can't be shared back out to wizards, nor can he work from a spellbook. The only synergy we might apply is if one of us had Scribe Scroll, the other could use the scrolls to learn the scribed spells. We can also of course plan to cover more bases and avoid duplication.
Here's Meg's list of 1st-levels:
Cure Light Wounds, 1d10+lvl(max+5)
Diagnose Disease, detects and identifies diseases, +4 on Heal check
Frostbite, 1d6+lvl NL Cold, plus Fatigued, one attack/level
Ill Omen, roll next d20 twice, take worst roll. Can be 'unwound'
Mage Armor, +4 armor bonus, 1Hr/level
Mount, Summons riding horse for 2 Hrs/level
Remove Sickness, 10m/lvl, +4 morale bonus save vs diseases
Unseen Servant, 1 Hr/level
And 0th-levels (the whole Witch list):
Arcane Mark Inscribes a personal rune on an object or creature (visible or invisible).
Bleed Cause a stabilized creature to resume dying.
Dancing Lights Creates torches or other lights.
Daze A single humanoid creature with 4 HD or less loses its next action.
Detect Magic Detects all spells and magic items within 60 ft.
Detect Poison Detects poison in one creature or small object.
Guidance +1 on one attack roll, saving throw, or skill check.
Light Object shines like a torch.
Mending Makes minor repairs on an object.
Message Whisper conversation at distance.
Putrefy F&D Makes food and water inedible.
Read Magic Read scrolls and spellbooks.
Resistance Subject gains +1 on saving throws.
Spark Ignites flammable objects.
Stabilize Cause a dying creature to stabilize.
Tch of Fatigue Touch attack fatigues target.

Guys, I am confused about a few things regarding monks and flurry of blows - maybe you can help me understand:
"Starting at 1st level, a zen archer can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action, but only when using a bow (even though it is a ranged weapon). He may not make a flurry of blows with his unarmed attacks or any other weapons. A zen archer does not apply his Strength bonus on damage rolls made with flurry of blows unless he is using a composite bow with a Strength rating. A zen archer’s flurry of blows otherwise functions as normal for a monk of his level" - So far so good, but now...
"For the purpose of these attacks, the monk's base attack bonus from his monk class levels is equal to his monk level. For all other purposes, such as qualifying for a feat or a prestige class, the monk uses his normal base attack bonus."
So.... Say I am level 2, with BAB+1:
Question 1: This means that as far as Flurry goes, I am considered to have BAB+2 instead of +1 correct?
Question 2: Which in turn means, as per Flurry of Blows rules - "... a monk can make a flurry of blows as a full-attack action. When doing so he may make one additional attack using any combination of unarmed strikes or attacks with a special monk weapon (kama, nunchaku, quarterstaff, sai, shuriken, and siangham) [/b]as if using the Two-Weapon Fighting feat[/b] that I will be attacking as if I my offhand weapon is light, adn consequently -2/-2, taking me to +0/+0 at level 2 (and +1/+1 when at Point Blank?)?
Deadly Aim... So... Lets say I am monk level 4, which means that I am at BAB+4 for flurry of arrows. According to Deadly Aim "You can choose to take a –1 penalty on all ranged attack rolls to gain a +2 bonus on all ranged damage rolls. When your base attack bonus reaches +4, and every +4 thereafter, the penalty increases by –1 and the bonus to damage increases by +2. You must choose to use this feat before making an attack roll and its effects last until your next turn. The bonus damage does not apply to touch attacks or effects that do not deal hit point damage"
Question 3: So, if I am BAB+4, does this mean that I can take a -2 penalty to have +4 to the damage (for me it makes sense that it is so, but could you confirm this)? My Flurry with Deadly Aim would be have penalties of -4/-4, taking it to +0/+0. Is this correct?

![]() |

I answer the questions before DEX bonuses and any feats outside of what's directly discussed.
Question 1: Correct. At lv 2 your flurry BAB is +2. You are basically two weapon fighting, those attacks are done with a -2 penalty, netting out to a +0/+0 :) Since your a zen archer, its better to think of it as you're using rapid shot (that's a feat giving archers an extra shot very round, but takes a -2 on each shot).
Question 2: Pretty much, yeah.
Question 3: Correct. At level 4, your flurry is BAB is +4 for flurry. Add the -2 weapon penalty for rapid shot/two weapon fighting (whatever) for a total of +2/+2.
So your total attack bonus at level 4 with rapid shot/flurry AND Deadly aim would be +0/+0... BUT you would add +4 damage to each shot.

Zeriax |

Thank you GM-JC. I had to clear that one out once and for all :D
I have Zeriax level up about 99% done. I wanted to e-mail him before we head back to the Glassworks, because he has a BRAND NEW Composite Long (STR +3), weapon focus, and etc... Making him waaaay more effective.
Didn't have time for it though...

Megekki |

Zeriax, sounds SWEET.
Can I get an account balance for Megekki?

I expect I'm missing something, I saw somebody buying a wand?
Will email tonight with levelup. Will do equips, too, if I know my budget.
I'm guessing as it's narrated as just an hour or so, no spell refresh?

Megekki |

Essentially, 25% on all curing scrolls, potions and wands available at the temple. Anything that cures, heals or restores using up to level 3 magic.
I've been digging... also 10% off maps, and 20% off in-stock items at Savah's Armory.
OK, so at 25% off 750 for CLW wand that's going to cost 562.5, and need to be a group effort. Put me down for a fair share of 140GP, for now.
I'll email shortly.

Megekki |

I understand why it might be ruled out. The guy creating the wand can make ONE item per day, of up to 1000 GP sales price. A 750GP wand is already a bit of an inefficiency for him. A 250GP wand way less. But hey, it's still a day he made 125GP. Not a BAD day. :)

![]() |

True...but you're forgetting the EBGames of wands...the used wand shop! Adventurers find used wands all the time with X charges left in them, and sell them to EBWands shops ALL over where they buy them and turn around and sell them for a 100% markup! :)
If I wanted to make it a little more realistic, I'd roll up a number of partially used wands and similar magic items, and let you guys buy from just that list. But, I'm a bit too lazy for that :P
