In the case of wanting to play I will definitely have tak, as he is a recreation of my first pathfinder character. And I've been playing since late march.

Ah, right. Forgot that part.

I've been playing Pathfinder for almost a year and a half, and 3.0 and 3.5 for much longer on-and-off. I just recently got my second PFS GM star.

Ryuu is a "I want to make it work, because awesome. So even if they weren't particularly lookin for an arcane, I would a applied him lol.

Merelinda reporting for duty. Human Cleric 1 of Calistria.

Been playing Pathfinder for roughly 2 years...been on the forums for about 5 months. Been playing role-playing games since the late 80's (as a young child).

So this is my (eventual) arcane archer character. He starts out as a fighter with archery focus, then wizard at level 2, continuing on with eldritch Knight (with early entry using the Scrying school power if that's alright) and then Arcane Archer once he meets the BAB requirements. It's not the most powerful character, but I'm interested in making the combination work.

Regarding the friday/saturday evening times -- would that be through some online tabletop like Roll20, or just a time when you'd hope we'd be able to make a bunch of posts in the pbp thread? I can do the latter but not the former.

GM: any possibility of using drawbacks (one drawback gets you one additional trait)?

Bayani is the son of a Kyonin elf father and an Ekujae elf mother of the Mwangi expanse, who met when the former traveled into the jungle on an expedition of discovery. Aladaer raised his son with Baurini, for a decade, and then wished to return with his lover and their son to Kyonin. She refused, and told him he was welcome to take the boy, whom she had named in the style of her tribe, but declared that the child would always be between two people, two homes.

RP example: a conversation between Bayani and his father before he leaves Kyonin:

"You're going to Mwangi?" the older elf asked.

"Yes, father," replied Bayani in a neutral tone.

"Call me Aladaer, we're both adults now. Why are you going back there? You know she won't care that she birthed you."

"You call me an adult, yet assume you know my business as if I were still a 6-decade-old? I want to see DINOSAURS, f...Aladaer. I want to find the ruins you saw a century ago. Certainly it would be pleasant to meet the woman to whom I owe this permanent suntan, but that's not the reason I'm going."

Aladaer frowns, meeting his son's deep black eyes with his own. "It's dangerous, too. You've got some talent, I won't deny that, but are you sure you can handle it? There's a phrase the humans say in Taldan: <It's a jungle out there!>" He falls into the common tongue of Avistan to say the words.

Bayani ponders the situation, then grasps what is underlying his sire's concern.

"I never blame you for taking me away from her, you know." The other's reaction confirms his line of thought. "I've had no complaints about my life, and parents rarely stay together until their child's centenary. Why should it have been different for you? Iadara is my home, and I wouldn't trade this life for one growing up in the expanse -- even if I always begged you for tales of your adventures when I was small."

"I supposed you were trying to find a connection to your mother; that wasn't it?"

"They were exciting! What little boy wouldn't love those tales? Desna and Nethys, father, did you always think when I was asking you for those, I was asking about her?"

His father shrugged sheepishly.

"Ki jan nan kreyòl mwen an?" asks Bayani, changing the subject. How's my polyglot?

"Ou pale li tankou yon natif natal," replies Aladaer. You speak it like a native.

"Mèsi. Mwen menm, ale nan Greengold, ak soti nan gen yon vwayaj de-semèn yo Korvosa. Gen yon bato kite pou Mwangi nan espas yon mwa. Vle m 'chans, papa." Thank you. Tomorrow I go to Greengold, and from there a two-week journey to Korvosa. There is a ship leaving for Mwangi within a month. Wish me luck, father.

"Good luck, son," replies Aladaer, returning to elven, emotion showing in his normally-placid eyes.

Already asked that question earlier...Rhea said it was a hope for a flurry of PbP posts here on the Paizo website at those times. :)

Right. I've been playing Pathfinder since 2008 and D&D (and other RP games) since 1977.

Oh, I've been playing Pathfinder since 2011, and some iteration of D&D or games inspired by it since around 1995 or so.

Rhea and The Emerald Duke: I will update the list tonight, do you want our Magus under combat or arcane? Also do you know how many people you are selecting?

What sort of environment will the game mainly take place in? I am thinking of a treesinger druid, especially if we will aminly be in forest or jungle.

The Exchange

He will be secondary melee as I've envisioned him.

That is a very good question Rob... given Rhea is in charge I will defer to her.

"Flurry of posts" lol! I nominate that as a new class feature. For a new "PBP archtype":)

Let's put the Magus in the Melee camp, he will need the space to make touch attacks. Kay? Thanks Robert!

Nowear, we will be in jungles, ancient temples, mabe even on the planet Eox. Your treeslinger would fit just fine.

RPG Superstar 2013 Top 8

I almost didn't read this since I've GM'ed part of this game (for my kids, but we didn't get too far), but those Fri/Sat times would actually probably be a good chance for me to get in on some real-time gaming. I'd be interested in playing either a halfling hunter or beast rider cavalier, or possibly multiclassing if you'll allow the animal companion/mount levels to stack. (Technically, the beast rider is limited to only a few possible mounts until later levels.) As for his animal companion, I figure he will start without one and find something after the ship voyage.

I've been playing online for 2-3 years now. I used to play Middle Earth/Rolemaster back in high school in the 80's.

Having trouble deciding between a Human Feral Child Druid and a Drow Beastmaster Ranger any tips?

Dark Child wrote:

if drow is allowed, we can be siblings! :P

Drow is allowed:) Should be no problem in a jungle-wilds themed adventure.

Wolfwalker I'm glad you applied! You sound like a kindred spirit, haha! Playing RPGs my the kids is fun but I still crave the "the big show" version with real adults.

Okay, will put down my char stats now :)

They are not really healers, more smack you in the head types. :)

Will take a day or so to work up the stats, and traits, and background.

Sure we can be sisters.

Whoohoo. Two ranged characters. Sisters. Following a slightly different path

Wolfwaker will be using this guy--backstory to come.

I'm a ranger but I'm not ranged.

Drow and elf in the same party could be interesting. Obviously there'd have to be some changes from canon Golarion to accomodate that.

The Exchange

I agree.

Two drow, two elves (one a pirate) and two others walk into an island...

Sounds hot. Also I noticed a number of grammatical errors in my wall of text. Will that count against me or should I repost with the text formatted better? Will it count against me to resubmit?

Technically this happens after Second Darkness, I believe, so it doesn't present the problems that a drow in Curse of the Crimson Throne would. When did human become the unwanted stepchild of races???

Does the Beastmaster archetype allow me me to get an animal companion at 1st lv?

If not, will it work if take Boon Companion at 1st lv?

The Exchange

I tend to be diverse in my race selections. The only reason I'm playing an elf this time is because I had a chance to play something a little different from the usual. If I were to break down the numbers I've probably played humans more than any other race.

so down to a few ideas here....

ideas- dragon blooded sorcerer, wild child
- Samurai wanderer,
- monk (martial artist or flowing not quite sure yet)
- Cleric of the night/shadow (but good aligned)

I haven't had time to read through all the new posts yet, if someone wanted to let me know which of these would fit best with the applications so far that would be nice, if not I will eventually read over everything.

DM Rhea I will updated the list in about three hours, Have you looked at either of my fighters? Salt would fit the jungle theme better but I would like your opinion. I think I would enjoy playing the characters equally but for different reasons :) Like I said I'm really looking forward to playing a straight up fighter.

Hey "The Emerald Duke" I would like your opinion also, if you wouldn't mind weighing in :)

Heck I'll listen to anyone's recommendation if you want to take the time.

I enjoyed reading them both very much Robert. Either one would work! Vikings are always fun for bashing in heads...

Here is a link to a Styled Character Sheet for one of my characters if you would like it. Just cut and past into your alias profile, season to taste. It took me FOREVER to make, and I sure wish someone had saved ME the trouble! A gift for you:)

I think I will go for the ronin samurai merc. will have stuff up soon.

I like them... either would work well, though your sailor might not like mine (given he is a career pirate and all).

The Exchange

Probably got buried but I asked earlier if I should resubmit sans grammatical errors. I rushed to post and left some in my bio that were pretty blaring to me.

Nah, don't worry bout it. Typos are no big deal. What time zone are you in, Uncle?

Here in Rhea-land IT'S 9 O'CLOCK!

You know what, I actually have BUNNIES in my house. That's right. Last night I got home and the kids weren't here. When they showed up 20 min later they had BUNNIES in their arms! Now we have pet bunnies. Kids are in bed and these freakin BUNNIES are jumping up on my laptop and scurrying around.

They don't say much.

But it's true that they like carrots. Who knew...

The Exchange

I'm in CST. And please, call me Unc. Your flurry of posts should happen around 11 for me. I should be ok to flurry.

Look out behind you Unc! *Wachaaaa* Flurry of post to the face! I got that thing that was about to get you, don't worry!

12 here XD I shoulda be quite fine

Like Unc, I reside in CST. And like Unc & Reldic, it should pose no problems whatsoever. I have mastered the flurry of posts. I don't even take a penalty anymore. :p

Edit: Robert, I believe Mokshai said his Warpriest would be a basher, not a bandager. Of course, that conveniently narrows my competition, so you might want to wait for him. ;)

Edit Edit: Also, I believe I like the flavor of your corsair for this adventure more. Although it's not a 'pirate' game like Skull & Shackles, he seems more adventurous and bound to embark on something like this.

I am on PST myself.

The Exchange

Thanks! I also really want to emphasize that my character will not be good as a primary damage dealer until a little later into his career. He's built to be a 5th party member. Speaking of which, how many are we going to have in the final party?

Rukea wrote:

I'm pretty sure the Beastmaster ranger gets the animal companion at the same time a normal ranger does, since its druid level is ranger - 3.

@ Merelinda Falvian: yea your probably right, that whole priest thing got in the way :), its edited now, thanks for the feedback on the corsair

@ T. E. D. you don’t mind if I abbreviate do you? “The Emerald Duke” sounds so formal. Ivar being a corsair himself, is not offended by pirates, only slavers. His favorite saying is

“if the sheep could wish, they’d wish to be wolves”

@Rhea, bunnies, ohhh, sounds like 4-H land for somebody. Word to the wise, don’t let the cat play on their cage, it can give them a heart attack. Just Saying.

speaking of "flurry of Post" is that like "rabbit punching" or should we say "rabbit Posting" :)

also if we find ourselves in need of a trap expert I may know a guy who knows a guy.

Well unc, in the past, I've had good luck in pbp taking about 7. 2 always drop out for some reason and there is no predictable way to screen those 2 yokles! That leaves 5 who finish first book. AND THEN. we start book 2 by getting two new recruits on the boards. Whaddya think?
