Back and almost functional.
Baldrech leads the way into the forest, pausing now and then to set traps along the path.
"I'll watch your backs, and I'll keep patrols away from you," he says before slipping into the trees again.
My understanding is that Kia and Arianwyn are masquerading as prisoners with Chary, Whiteclaw and Tutavak looking menacing. If that's the case, what are the "prisoners" doing with their kit?

Rev DM |

Preparations made, the companions advance, Whiteclaw snarling under her breath as she shoves Kia and Arianwyn along the dirt track. Like Chary, she seems to be adopting a method approach to this subterfuge.
You are approaching from the top. Perception checks please and if Arianwyn wants to chat to the wildlife, there is some available here.

Rev DM |

Chary |

Chary is wishing she had prepared for bluffing instead of stealth, but does her best to sell the story. She walks over to Kia and backhands her across the face, with enough just umph to be convincing. "Be quiet, Wench". While staying within her reach, Chary gives Arianwyn a sharp glance. She then barks out "Hush, you prat! We don't want the information." And with a wicked grin, "They do!"
bluff: (11)+ 11 = 22]
and to help sell it, here is an intimidation check: (8)+18=26

Kia Rubarka |

Kia looks at Chary as if for permission to speak.
"They are planning to steal something of value to you..." She bows her head. "I heard just before we escaped, and we ran into these!" She looks as if she is about to spit but then restrains herself and lowers her gaze again.

Rev DM |

This wasn't entirely clear, so I now clarify :)
At the Painbringer's bidding, the three visible guards lope back down the path, moving with surprising grace for creatures of their size. From the undergrowth, four more giants emerge and depart behind the companions, heading north and away towards the centre of the island. The Painbringer gestures.
"Follow me, the Portal Lord will wish to know more."

Tutavak |

I didn't specify a weapon out, but spear seems more likely for the charade. I'll work from that. Soul Flare vs Ref, fire damage.
1d20 + 13 ⇒ (15) + 13 = 282d10 + 6 ⇒ (9, 7) + 6 = 22
Hoping that hits!
Tutavak, a deadly gleam in his eyes, lowers his lance at the fomorian facing away. Spirits swirl around the weapon, then spear the fey even as they embrace Chary.
Soulfire on Chary. +2 speed, +2 Ref, +3 fire damage on hit with attack, TEOChNT

Rev DM |

Whiteclaw howls her approval as Tutavak leaps into action, his spear driving deep into the Painbringer's back. The fomorian himself grips his flail and prepares to flatten his deceivers.
Arianwyn
Chary - +2 speed/ref and +3 fire damage on hit to end her next turn
Whiteclaw
Kia
Tutavak
Painbringer - no action this turn

Arianwyn |

The eladrin rubs his wrist of the slip-knot that bound them. With a casual wave he bestows a woeful curse on the fomorian.
Hexblast (vs Will) - effect - Painbringer is cursed.
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 291d8 + 4 ⇒ (1) + 4 = 52d6 ⇒ (2, 5) = 7

Chary |

Mulligan!!! (Chary's handler realized that her bonus from Tutavak will end this round, not the next one.)
Chary focuses on the giant, attempting make it careen around our little group.
Passage of Swords (daily): close burst 3: (13)+18=31 vs Fort.
On hit: target is dazed (SE).
Effect: slide target 5 squares and each ally adjacent to the target during this slide can make a melee basic attack against it as a free action, with a power bonus to the damage roll equal to your Charisma modifier (+5).
Slide target from G18 (reference point) to F19, F20, F21, F22, and end on E22. That should allow everyone but Whiteclaw a free melee basic attack with a +5 bonus to damage.
as Painbringer comes by Chary, she lashes out with her rapier: melee basic (8)+ 18=26 vs AC. Damage = (6)+7+5=18 AND +3 Fire damage.

Rev DM |

Mulligan granted :)
The Painbringer screeches as Chary catches it unawares and bustles it past the group and into the undergrowth. As the movement ends, her rapier sneaks out, but fails to connect with the howling giant.
Whiteclaw grips her axe and prepares herself.
Arianwyn, Tutavak and Kia all get a free basic melee with a +5 to damage as it passes. Arianwyn and Kia are unarmed.
Kia
Tutavak
Painbringer - no action this turn; cursed by Arianwyn; dazed (se)
Arianwyn
Chary
Whiteclaw - readied action (Thorn Strike)

Arianwyn |

So... I'm going to slap him? OK...
Unarmed basic (with psionic awesomeness bonus):
1d20 + 10 ⇒ (5) + 10 = 151d4 + 9 ⇒ (2) + 9 = 11
Rock those inherent boni!
Arianwyn feels himself imbued with psionic power and attempts a punch.

Rev DM |

Taken by surprise by Chary's sudden shifting of the Painbringer, none of the group can take advantage. Arianwyn and Kia both feel weapons passed into their hands. The Painbringer's howls are likely to bring some attention unless he is dealt with swiftly.
Tutavak
Painbringer - dazed (se)
Arianwyn
Chary
Whiteclaw - readied action (Thorn Strike)
Kia

Tutavak |

"Just one," Tutavak declares. Switching weapons, he looses two arrows, though his aim is not to his usual standards.
Minor: Switch weapons. Minor: Quarry. Standard: Biting Volley -- two shots vs Ref, crit on 18, quarry damage.
1d20 + 18 + 2 ⇒ (9) + 18 + 2 = 291d10 + 7 ⇒ (1) + 7 = 81d20 + 18 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 18 + 2 = 301d10 + 7 ⇒ (10) + 7 = 172d6 ⇒ (3, 6) = 9

Rev DM |

Despite his misgivings, Tutavak lands one blow on the Painbringer, causing slightly more damage than he'd suspected.
Forgot to note the Painbringer's aura. I don't think it affects anything so far, so I'll just make sure it's duly noted now.
Sadistic Fury - aura 5
Creatures within the aura gain +1 to damage rolls and -1 to all defenses. Whenever a creature is reduced to 0hp within the aura, the Painbringer gains a +1 to damage (stackable) to the end of the encounter.
Dazed as he is, the Painbringer can do little but make the best of his situation and befuddle the entire group with horrific visions.
Painful Visions (Will), close burst 4. On hit target is dazed (se)
