Tutavak narrowly fails to bring down the blight at G22, but bloodies the last untouched section.
To end Chary's next turn (and this is sustainable), allies gain a +1 to attack rolls and +5 to damage rolls while adjacent to her.
Voidblight Insanity:- Attacks all creatures that start their turns in its area. On hit, targets take 10 ongoing psychic damage and are affected by voidblight insanity (se both). While affected, a conscious target must make a basic attack against an ally or take 10 additional psychic damage at the end of its turn. Creatures cannot make a saving throw against the effects while in a voidblight square.
The skiff has move 6.
It takes two of you to row at full speed.
If only one of you is rowing, it has move 3.
Chary (resist 10 psychic to end enc)
Whiteclaw - 74/102HP Kia
Voidblight
Arianwyn - used AP; used second wind
Tutavak

Chary's attack does nothing, but Whiteclaw moves alongside the drow and removes the cursed patch of mist.
Cursed enemy drops.

Kia Rubarka |

Kia moves back into the fray and attempts to finish the horrible stuff. She moves opposite Tutavak and then politely asks Chary if she would mind shifting one square before doing so.
Move to F23, Wolf pack tactics vs misty stuff, allowing Chary to move to G22 so Kia can have all her lovely benefits.
1d20+21=(6)+21=27; 1d8+12=(3)+12=15
Kia looks at her sword with disappointment when the mist doesn't seem to react to her swing.

Rev DM |

Somewhat to her chagrin, Kia narrowly misses the last patch of mist. It retaliates by moving over her head.
Arianwyn - don't forget a cursed patch dropped on Whiteclaw's turn.

All - I'm very concerned about Amy who hasn't been seen or heard from since 17 February. She's been in this since the beginning, so I can continue to DMPC her, but I think we might look at recruiting another defender type. If she comes back, we run with six, which is fine.
I'd rather go on personal recommendation than throw it open as this isn't the easiest game in the world to get into cold (as Chary will probably confirm). Any thoughts?

Chary |

I hope she is well, or getting that way. Yes, it is a challenge getting up to speed with an (any)teen level character, but with the old threads and such good DM'ing and PC'ing, it has been a lot of fun. I have one possibility, but mostly the only gamer I speak with right now was who I replaced!
Also, I will probably be posting regularly, but if I am spotty with posts in the next few weeks, it is because my PhD dissertation defense is on May 2nd. I enjoy using this PBP as a distraction, so I shouldn't have a problem...but if I don't post for a while, just NPC Chary and please don't take it personally ;) I will be back: hopefully as a Doctor, not an unemplyed failure!

Arianwyn |

I am somewhat conflicted. It feels somewhat hypocritical for me to say that it would be too difficult in terms of story to put another character in at this point, as Arianwyn came in in just such a manner (indeed on Pharoe!), so it's not impossible that some other PC could make their way there underground (as Arianwyn did) or by planar travel. I will go with the majority.

Rev DM |

We'll leave it as is for now and if anyone comes up with a player they think would enjoy this and be as reliable as you lot, I'll look at ways of working them in.
Good luck with the PhD, Chary. Using your impetuous drow girl as a distraction sounds perfect.
Arianwyn contemptuously removes the last of the voidblight. The mists do not lift, and nor does the sense of menace, but there is now no impediment to the party sailing onwards.
1440XP each for the blight, plus an additional 1000 for the skill challenge and rp back in Namarth and Riggarth. Brings you to a total of 42,276XP

Rev DM |

Heading for the shore?
EDIT: I'm going to assume you are and am herewith posting your new map.
The skiff makes rapid headway once clear of the blight and reaches a beach that is familiar to Whiteclaw, Kia and Arianwyn. As Chary and Whiteclaw secure the craft, the arcane nature of the surrounding mist is made plain. At the edge of the land, it lifts, revealing a shingle beach, fir-trees encroaching on the shoreline and two paths leading roughly north-east and south-east.
Slightly to the north of your landing place, the wreckage of a vessel lies forlorn.

Chary |

After dutifully rowing to rest of the way, Chary lets the oars slip form her fingers as whe catches her breath. Some deep breaths and rubbing of her hands to ease the aching from the oars, she is refreshed and ready to go.
Short rest while sitting in the boat, after our arrival. HS=9/10

Chary |

"Yes, lets see if we can find him, his remains, or his tracks starting at the wreck over there...who here can read trail spore? I am adept in towns, but I am out of my reckoning here."
Moving (if others approve) towards the wreck. Will let someone with a better Nature check lead the way.

Rev DM |

Whiteclaw pads silently at the rear of the party, snuffing the air from time to time and watching the woods.
Tutavak may know little about boats and dislike sailing, but his skills are amply good enough to tell him that the wreck is too small to be Bifrosts vessel (based on his observations of the Sandpiper). More, it has been waterlogged for a long time - years probably and the remaining wood is rotten and close to collapse.
Perception checks please and positions.

Arianwyn |

Q9. Perception:
1d20 + 11 ⇒ (18) + 11 = 29
"Baldrech was a former associate. He decided to stay here as a guardian for the isle. You would be looking for shifter tracks, though how those would differ from those of a man, I have no notion."

Rev DM |

A slight rustle comes from the trees as a grizzled and rangy shifter's face emerges.
"Get off the beach and into cover you fools. The mad-eyes patrol here."
Arianwyn, Kia and Whiteclaw recognise their old companion. The years have added many more scars to his torso and don't seem to have done much for his manners either.

Chary |

"Unkind he may be, Unclean her certainly is, but let's get to cover as he suggests." Chary unquestioningly goes towards the woods from which he is berating us.
Is it uncharacteristic for Chary to trust him? Perhaps.
Is that likely to stop her from trying to avoid the danger he suggests? Nope.
Is Chary holding her rapier ready for anything? Absolutely!
Indeed, she is eyeing Baldrech with a bright smile...and her rapier "en guarde."

Rev DM |

"Personal hygiene is the least of my worries right now."
Satisfied that the group are at least listening to him, the shifter drops silently from his perch and moves up the north-eastern pathway.
He glances across at the companions.
"Can any of you make a trap worth a damn?"
Those of you with a reasonable Nature check can do so. Thievery will also help.

Rev DM |

Baldrech points to a set of complex branches and indicates that Chary and Tutavak should twist them into trap designed to bring down some large creature. Basically you're making a kind of trip wire. The Nature and Thievery checks are both good enough to accomplish that.
He keeps an eye on the north eastern pathway and moves swiftly to arrange loose rocks to spray across the path when the branches swing out.
Gesturing again, he returns swiftly and silently to the trees, jerking his head at the pair to follow him.
Keeping his voice low, he looks at the assembled company.
"We'll move out now. At least we'll know if they're on their way. I have a cave we can use to talk. Keep it quiet."
Two Stealth checks from each of you please. Rolling for Arianwyn and Whiteclaw. DC20.
1d20+7=23 and 1d20+7=25 for Whiteclaw
1d20+13=33 and 1d20+13=20 for Arianwyn (eesh, that warlock lives dangerously)

Rev DM |

Baldrech sighs.
"Forget it. We'll take them here. I'm not leading them to my cave."
He moves onto the beach and draws his bow as from the northern path comes a curious crashing and clanking sound.
"Welcome to Pharoe."
Roll init and move to wherever you'd like to be.
Init so far:
Fomorian 1 - 36
Fomorian 2 - 36
Baldrech - 17
