You all may make any level appropriate changes to your characters that you wish over the next couple of days. I'm perfectly fine with that. I'll look over the list of applicants that I see your previous DM put together in the recruitment to see about healers. Please feel free to look them over as well.
Linge is a druid, though, and druid's can heal.

It looks like DM Twilight is going to be joining us?
Welcome aboard! :)
And the powergamer in me says we don't really need a combat healer too much. Just win the encounters fast and stock up on CLW wands?

DM Twilight |

I'm leaving it up to you guys to decide who you want me to try to bring in. I haven't contacted anyone yet, it seems like there is still some discussion going on on who/what you need.
Feel free to respond to the gameplay thread posts. I'll check in again this evening if not before.

'Mother' Theora Rowe |

Sorry to see you leaving us, Gii. Best of luck with all your future endeavours!
I'm a bit paranoid in that I usually like to have, if not a dedicated healer, a full divine caster. I don't have a strong stance on either of the suggested characters, though I'd worry about the hexcrafter's... hexiness clashing with Theora's distrust of witches. (That's strictly an in-character issue, though, and could be played with or worked around as needed.)
I'm fine to work in a new character at a suitable point; I'm also fine to just chill for a bit. I've been trying to battle the issues mentioned in my last post, with a case of con crud thrown in, so I'm still out of it. I'm recovering, though. You've been patient with me, so I owe it to you to keep trying.
Mirri, a lot of such spells appear on the inquisitor spell list. I'd prefer to keep my valuable spells known to more generally useful things, but it does mean I can use wands and scrolls of restoration, remove curse, etc.

Alright, first things first lets decide on whether we want any of the characters in list of applicants joining us. If it turns out we are looking for something else or feel that the role of healer cannot be handled by them we'd best start a recruitment thread for healers who would be interested in going through Reign of Winter.
If we go with the second option all we have to do is copy paste the recruitment rules for our game, go through the list of applicants, send our votes to DM Twilight who'll add her own vote and we'll have our latest recruit.
Whichever route we pick I say we'd best get this train back on track. I'll make a post in the gameplay thread shortly.

Mirri Willowthir |

I wan't sure whether inquisitors got those spells or not, and I was thinking for scroll/wan use as well.
As another possibility, if there was an arcane caster that stood out I could rebuild ont a winter oracle and taking the needed spells with little effort. I'd still have a large part of the feel of my character, it wouldn't be my preferred choice but it is a possibility

DM Twilight |

I wouldn't think it be necessary for you to change to a winter oracle, Mirri, unless it was something you wanted to do. We really shouldn't have much difficulty at all getting someone to step in, it's just a matter of you guys deciding how exactly you want to handle it! There is a good chance that those from the original recruitment were taken on in another game or are simply no longer interested. I could always throw up a post in the same recruitment (no real need to make a new thread, is there?) saying that I've taken over and we're looking to take on a healer. People who posted before who are still interested can speak up, and new admissions can be added.
EDIT: Also, I'm wanting to give everyone a chance to make an initial post before moving on to help reintegrate into the game. When you're ready to get moving again, please give me a rough "marching order" so that I know where to place people on the map. Once you are in an area that requires a map, I will post the link for the map in the campaign info area so that it will appear at the top of the page much the way that your former GM shared images and maps. I will use the same link, changing the url as needed, for each new map so that you only ever need to follow that one link. Once the map is up, you will be in control of, and responsible for moving your icon on the map.

Mirri Willowthir |

A valid point Lars. Here's what I think we should do, recruit for a healer, but continue on and work them in when we get one. I think that will be the best solution all around.

Grimkell son of Ogmundr |

I did not do the math, but I am under the impression that everyone will have more gold if it is used to buy healing things than to equip a 6th character... I am not trying to antagonize anyone, just trying to balance out Lars' need for a challenge (6 players in an AP devised for 4 might be a tad too easy) and whether we really need that healer.
Anyway, it does seem that people are more inclined to recruit a cleric, so I shall got with the group!

Lars Andronsa |

I did not do the math either, I've made the statement under the assumption that the gold we'll be obtaining is balanced around the number of party members we have, so adding another to the group means a re-balancing of the amount of money the group receives, and while it is true that this AP was made with 4 players in mind, I think it was also made with the assumption that each of the four primary roles of: Martial, Skill, Arcane, Divine are covered by the group.
If the gold we receive throughout the campaign is enough for four players then we won't be able to get enough gear for the five of us and even less so if we have to buy more healing items to cover the lack of a divine caster.
In regards to what kind of class we need I think other classes can cover the healing role besides the cleric. I think a druid could work...if they are focused on that task.

Still here, just being worn down by work. Eight-year-olds are exhausting.
If the GM is able to adjust the treasure and encounters of the AP for five PCs instead of four, I'd be all for bringing in a healing/support divine caster.

DM Twilight |

Alright guys, to help get this wrapped up I went ahead and started a new recruitment thread. Please do check out applicants as they come along and ask them whatever questions you have. If someone asks a question about creation that you know the answer to, please feel free to ask. I want new applicants to follow the same creation process that you all followed when you made your characters.

There are already 5 of you, I'd be adjusting it up to 6 and I am not concerned with that in the slightest.

Is anyone over in the new recruitment thread standing out to any of you so far?

I am reading through the submissions and I'll send you a personal message with any that stand out to me.

DM Twilight |

I've gotten input from Lars so far bu no one else. I had planned to make a selection tonight. So if anyone else has anything else to add, please do so asap.
Jamarcus, you didn't take your action in combat, so I skipped you for now. You're welcome to either take your action as soon as you can and have your place in the initiative order changed, or wait for your turn to come back up again and stay where you are in the initiative.

DM Twilight |

OK, four of you have given me input and two out of four voted for Zisel as the first choice. One voted for Bertrade, and one for Samuel. I personally prefer Zisel over the others mentioned so Zisel will be our new player! I'll let them know and we'll work on bringing them in asap.

DM Twilight |

Alright seems like I've caught up with the thread so far. Did the DM have any specific plans as far as introducing Zisel into the group or should I start formulating my own entrance? :D
I'll be working something up for you, but if you do have something in mind I'm all ears.
I'd like to let them get through this battle before introducing a new character, but so far it's going really slowly. I really hope it isn't what I should expect from the group :/

Mirri Willowthir |

You might need to just bot her for the round, Theora's had a lot going on as I recall and may just not have been able to get on. I'm only waiting to see what happens on the creature's turn before giving my action.

No rush at all. I just like being prepared so no one is waiting around on me. I'd love to hear what you come up with and I can build off it with Zisel's flavor and fluff.
