Redelia, I'm happy you're feeling better. I'll repost some Qs here for your convenience...with ZERO rush. (Now that I know I'm good with Spheres in broad strokes, I don't have major open Qs.)
My main Qs at the moment are story questions:
1) Have the Emberclaws been a part of the story at all (and/or are any of you in the Emberclaw clan? If so, we should figure out how our stories overlap.
2) Does it make sense for me to have lived the last 5-10 years at Kraggodan? If so, what do I know of the war/drama that's been going on in the campaign so far? (I haven't read your Gameplay history and would love a summary, esp of what I would (and wouldn't) know).
3) Have the dwarves of Kraggodan been aware/involved so far?
I also have two minor Crunch Qs:
1) when you say "if your dice roll is less than half the die size", for d6 does that mean round up to 3 (half of 6) or 4 (PF standard)? I’m guessing 3, but wanted to confirm.
2) I want to craft my own healer’s kits, as I expect to go through them quickly. I’ve used Craft (alchemy) for that before, but let me know if there’s a different skill you’d use (and what the DC would be).
C4N! if you have Qs about SoM, lemme know. I think it's a wonderful system, and makes possible character concepts that otherwise wouldn't be buildable...without being crazy power. (That said, it's modular so one CAN make nutso builds...but not more than one can with all the Paizo-published sources, I think, especially for casters).
Regarding optimization, I defer to Redelia, but I wouldn't be surprised if it helps to have Redalia (or all of us?) look over our 90%-done characters and see if we want to tune up or down. I am much more interested in a game that's fun all around, than in any particular aspect of my build, so I can easily switch some gear and leveling choices for something more niche/flavorful/interesting if I'm overtuned on something. (I *THINK* Kwiazy, Petrakh, and Xakroo may still be buying their gear, so their numbers may not be totally final either, right?)

Oh! One more Crunch Q:
3) There's no Scholar FCB listed for Kobolds (shockingly!) Many of the FCBs are of the form of something like "+⅙ of a Spheres talent". I propose "+⅙ alchemist formula talent" (or of some other kind of talent, e.g. Trap, Sniper, or Scout, any of which amount to the same thing for me).
When you're caught up and have a moment, please let me know if that works for you.
Thanks again!

We can go with traps for that, because the lore and mechanics are very trap-centric for kobolds.

That's great! Done.
I think Yvra's crunch and purchases are complete. The only custom item in my gear is a combined ring of feather falling + sustenance (where I paid + 1.5x for the feather falling).
If any of you have Qs about his crunch, just let me know. Please note my Advancement Choices spoiler at the top of my profile (just under Background). There I tried to list every choice I made, level by level (feats, class abilities, talents, and my one alternate race trait (which comes from Spheres)). It helped me check my work as I built and revised Yvra, and I hope it makes it easier to make sense of him as well...with the major caveat that lots won't make sense if you haven't read about Spheres of Might, which I linked resources for, upthread.
His stats include buffs from his 'war paint', which has a 12 hour duration: +11 competence to Perception and Stealth, DR 3/–, and +5 deflection to AC. They also include two Scholar creations of his: a Silver Amulet that grants SR 24, and a flying apparatus that gives 60' fly (good). Note that the latter two are both a bit fragile...not that any DM would be so mean as to damage my fragile equipment...right? ;-)
As I mentioned upthread, Regarding optimization, I defer to Redelia, but I wouldn't be surprised if it helps to have Redalia (or all of us?) look over our 90%-done characters and see if we want to tune up or down. I am much more interested in a game that's fun all around, than in any particular aspect of my build, so I can easily switch some gear and leveling choices for something more niche/flavorful/interesting if I'm overtuned on something.

Xakroo doesn't need optimization, all he needs is to pelt enemies full with arrows.
Compensates for nothing! |
Compensates will downgrade a fair bit and pick up some wanky items, like a decanter of endless water that is actually a pipe of endless (only share but not sellable) Apsu weed.
Like, if I am 10-15ish AC above the rest I am overdoing it, perhaps thats partly because of all these "how to not suck at a pathfinder society game" threads that expect you to fly at level 7.
Gonna need the weekend to think of a funny way to downgrade.
GM Redelia |
OK, I know one of our new friends was asking about Kraggodan. Having that as part of your background is actually really helpful, because it explains how you join the group.
A few weeks ago, someone raided the sacred vaults under Kraggodan. It was believed to be the Molthune army. The Molthune government imprisoned diplomats from Kraggodan sent to deal with the matter, and Kraggodan now considers itself under siege.
Recently, a group of travelers was found near the sacred vault, and brought up to answer as to what was going on. They showed the city's leadership that it was actually the Ironfang Legion, not Molthune, guilty of the incursion, and have permission to go look further in the vault.
We are about the begin the dungeon crawl of the vault.
Compensates for nothing! |
Interesting! So Evil Beingz tried to make it so that 2 good beingz go to war? Maybe Evil Beingz very weak and afraid! Lets make alliance between 2 good beingz people and then make joint smesh of evil beings later! Compensates exclaims with greater then usual enthusiasm.
Compensates, like me, is dumb enough to confuse Molthune with Mendev.

Great! Yvra's adoptive mother was Brunha, a Cleric of Folgrit who lived in Kraggodan...but died recently. (In my backstory, I said she died in a flame drake attack...but if there's a different death that fits better, just let me know.
BTW, I recently tweaked Yvra's build a bit. Since Brunha's death, he has taken on his adoptive mother's sacred hare, Lodni Stonetail...who serves Yvra as a Familiar with the Protector archetype. This gets rid of the warpaint (referenced above) which didn't really fit my image.
Roleplay note: Yvra has lived with dwarves for more than half his life, and hasn't spent friendly time with kobolds for a number of years. He'll probably have a mix of emotions (some fond recognition, but also a good bit of wariness).
Beetly |
Beetly was following the Ironfang Legion undetected. When they entered the vault he stayed back and decided to investigate what they were up to afterwards. He would join the rest of the party somewhere in the beginning of the dungeon after he observed their honest intentions.
Velvunk |
Velvunk is from the Southern Fangwood, but he could have traveled across the Marideth river following the Ironfang Legion.
I'll say that he also heard about the Darkblight and wanted to help stop it as a cleric of Erastil.
Let me know build wise it he's okay. I pretty much went with a generic cleric with 11th level gold. I know that in APs characters tend to "run behind" the recommended gold level. I have a player in my Reign of Winter game that complains about that LOL.
I wanted to "reskin" my dog animal companion as a Goblin dog, if that's okay? per the SRD Goblin dog it looks like it would get allergic reaction in addition to the normal dog abilities.
He found it as a puppy after some raiders attacked a group of goblins and trained it. He calls it "Itchy" cause it makes his traveling companions that aren't goblin Itch.

Calamine lotion? lol
Welcome, Velvunk! It's worth reading Redelia's posts over the last 10 days. One highlight: we're actually L14 not L12. I think Redelia has also said that L14 WBL is appropriate, and that the existing party have kept up (or been brought up)...but please correct me if I'm wrong.
In terms of meeting up...
Yvra has lived at Kraggogan for half his (kobold-sized) life.
Sounds like Velvunk and Beetly have tracked the Ironfangs, and C4N! has been divinely led to them. Does it make sense for any of yall to know each other already? Or did Fate just bring you all here at the same moment?
Compensates for nothing! |
C4n! has Earth Breakers and gets tele-poofed to whereever Apsu wants.
Sometimes with clear instructions, sometimes without.
I am going to post his hijinks, antics and shenanigians.
Velvunk |
A goblin dog is fine with me; we just need to find some way that your current kobold companions aren't bothered by it...
He'll get some vials of antiplague and bathe Itchy in Oatmeal every day :)
Is it OK to switch my domains to Animal AND Plant? I thought Plant might make sense if he's helping combat the Blight in the fey area.

Sorry I missed that. I have the Herolab "sheet" at home and I can update it.

I updated to 14 and took a level of ranger. I realize I need to add 2 traits.

It's PFS standard that's the minimum HP.
I'd say it's a DC 15 check based on an analogy with leechwort. Craft(alchemy) or profession(herbalist) would be skill options, and that profession would be a valid use of your background skills ranks, if desired.

How is everyone doing? This has been a little chaotic, so I'm not sure if I've gotten all the questions answered. I'm not too worried about the difference in power level (if any), based on how much of a story based game I'm running.
If there are no questions or other issues, I'll set things up for you guys to meet in character in a day or two.
Yvra Brunhasson |
Oh, wait, are you waiting on us to post in Gameplay. I didn't yet that. Do you have a thought about getting us all together at once? If not, here's my suggestion:
0) Beetly, Velvunk, and Compensates have met up on the trail of the Ironfang Legion,
1) Yvra had just been informed by Archivist Karburtin Lightbrand about the story Kwiazy, Xakroo, and Petrahk came to tell, and she was on her way to question them herself when....
2) Beetly, Velvunk, and Compensates arrive at the "door" together, and so we all meet up at more or less the same time.
Thoughts? Alternate ideas?
(My goal is to contrive a way that we can all introduce ourselves to one another.)
Kwiazy |
that sounds like a good plan
Compensates for nothing! |
Oh, if my roleplay or story over the top just say a thing.
If its fun, of course also say so :).
I very much intend for compensates to be the least judgemental (and probably most naive, and definitly the most stoned) Paladin you guys ever had in a party, he does take his Paladin code fairly serious though.
-- I am the talon of Apsu’s wrath. I strike where I am needed, but only when evil has been unmasked and there can be no doubt of my enemy’s malice.
-- When my purpose is unclear, I will walk the roads of the world to find a fresh focus. Every road leads to a new beginning.
-- Nothing is worth sacrificing my life for, except protecting the lives of others. I will retreat when needed, and come back to vex my foes once again.
-- Mercy is offered, but only once. Should I be betrayed in my moment of kindness, I will not stop until I have put my enemy down.
-- It is not enough to slay evil and carry on. I will spend the time necessary to help those I’ve protected to fend for themselves.
Its a fairly pragmatic code overall.

Just as a head's up as well.
Petra is my efforts to portray tsundere and it's nothing personal oocly if she comes off as a bit haughty.
She has softened a little with the party, but she is still a bit arrogant. She's a dragon, she can be arrogant, right?
:)
Compensates for nothing! |
Compensates will likely attempt to court Her Draconic Excellence, Majestrix Petrykyxxz Jadetalon, smitten as he is by her most regal bearing and Apsu-likeness!
And be "expertly advised" in this manner by his occassional cranial co-hostess.
I promise it will be entirely PG-13, and mostly slapstick to romantic comedy. Probably more of the former actually.

Thanks for the vote of confidence, Redelia! I'm looking forward to seeing where we get to, together.
Glad you're excited about it too. :D
And Petra, I appreciate the OOC warning but I love your RP so far. I'm off to help take care of my dad, who I brought home from the hospital yesterday, but I look forward to more RP as we meet each other.
Cheers,
Kwiazy |
sorry for not posting for so long... was waiting for the rp to begin in earnest, and then when I did write a post, I forgot to hit 'submit post' and left the computer idling while I worked in my studio for a few hours and then departed for a few hours of fun with friends... stupid mistake, as one power outage or cat on keyboard issue and I'd have been a VERY unhappy camper.... So, here I am about 9 hours after I started writing that post, and just now clicked submit post...

Sorry for being sporadic in posting, had a rough week at work plus running around trying to keep fires down to tolerable levels pre-vacation next week.
From Thursday through Monday of next week/weekend my updating will probably be sporadic, just fyi.

Sorry, everyone, last few days have been quite a doozie, including losing heat in our home for a few hours.
Hope everything is OK!
Yvra Brunhasson |
Redelia, thanks for checking in, and I hope the drama subsides!
On my end, I've been nutty with work...and am in Yosemite with questionable internet next week with family...after which work will be even nuttier. I'll be posting some, but more sparsely.

Anyway - hope things calm down for everyone soon, but until then, everyone stay well, and think positively...

Sorry, everyone, life is going to be really crazy for another week or so. A convention I'm organizer for is ending in a few days, and I'll have stuff to do for that. Also, a lot of my games from that convention are not quite over, but the next convention starts this weekend, so I'll have double my chosen game load for a week or so. I'll be back to you soon!

Compensates for nothing! |
Poor Redelia, either delegate or assassinate, in my opinion, that really reduces the workloard. Says Compensates co commentator.
Of course, there are the follow up questions. Do you delegate the assassination or assasinate the delegates? She continues
If compensates has too much work to do, he asks work if work wants to partake in Apsu-Weed, then Work is often less thereafter! Says compensates.
Do you solve all your problems with Weed?
Sometimes also violence, or pretending they dont exist, or talking, sometimes all 4. I think is same for most mortals!
