Again sorry for my absence. Redalia, I have a couple questions about botting from a mentoring / instructional perspective, if you don't mind.
This is not a "how long do I wait before botting a player" question. Instead it's about who does the botting. When do you as GM bot the player yourself versus having a fellow party member execute the botting for you (as you did with Arhaq and the handle animal check)? What are the pros and cons of each method (GM botting versus player botting)?
GM Redelia |
Ahraq, to answer your question about botting, the benefit to the GM doing it is that it can keep the group moving better. There are some circumstances in which it can be better for a player to bot:
-the GM is a bit busy
-the GM is less familiar with that particular class
-the GM knows something which it would be hard to forget to make a decision
I'm putting this game on pause for a few days. If you guys want to keep talking to each other or line up your next actions, feel free, but I will probably not post for a few days so that I have more time to enjoy Christmas with my family.
Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate it, and I will see you again in just a few days.
Ahraq Fireheart |
I hope each of you is enjoying the holidays in their own way. I'm in a hotel in Seoul (par for the course in my life), but actually had a nice Christmas day.
Ahraq and Khana have moved to the front of the line in the hallway, basically where the goblin token is. I didn't want to remove the goblin or (not very nice) puppy tokens, in spite of knowing they're dead. Didn't want to overstep my bounds as a player.
See you all on the flip side of the holidays!
Baku Shaw |
Wasn't terrible. Stuck working most of it, but managed to squeeze in time for the kiddos and family. Trying to get caught up on my games now. :-P
Happy holidays all!

I put red numbers on the map to show Raga's proposed investigation priorities, based on guessing of tower layout.
If folks wanted to go 2-1-3 that'd be okay, or any other ideas?
Baku Shaw |
I'm good with 2,1,3 or 3,2,1 if 2 has a door. If it's just an open room, I'd suggest starting with 2.

Understandable GM Redelia.
On the same note...for those unaware, I'm a 911 Emergency Services Dispatcher. The same winter storm (I expect) is rolling through my region.
With this in mind...even if I have access to the internet, work may be too busy for my to post over next day or so. If needed, please don't hesitate to bot me.

What's the funniest/weirdest call you've ever gotten? 8)
M. Reynard AKA Ragathiel's Hand |
Put down some more red numbers to help chart out our course, the numeric order is the way Raga would want to go if it is possible, clearing that one room then continuing around the perimeter like had been indicated from the beginning.
If folks want me to stop doing that I can easily do so?

Hmm...that's a tough one. Been doing this job for almost 20 years now.
Had a couple patients with...uh...'Personal Massage Devices' stuck inside...had one with a dog stuck somewhere...
Power outages are always fun when people start calling and requesting we give them a "Wake Up Call"..."Sorry sir, we are not a hotel."
Something I have a tendency to tell my kids and family..."If its something you don't want to have to explain to a paramedic or police officer...don't do it."

I'm good with starting with #1 and going up from there in ascending order.

Are you implying that the dog was stuck...somewhere similar to where the vibrators were stuck?

Yroh's player is having technical difficulties and is currently unable to post to site, fyi.
M. Reynard AKA Ragathiel's Hand |
*dies*
M. Reynard AKA Ragathiel's Hand |
Moved over by 2. Thought we were doing the outside perimeter then spiraling our way in, as much as we could?
M. Reynard AKA Ragathiel's Hand |
I was getting confused too.
I'd prefer to do what we planned and do our 'circle around' plan, unless there were objections?
GM Redelia |
OK, we will do 2, then go back to 1 and then follow the perimeter. If that is just agreed to as standard procedure, I can stop delaying while you guys tell me what you want to do next. Any rule of thumb on whether to do 'inside' or 'outside' first if there are doors opposite each other?
(I'm not sure, Raga, if you are suggesting finishing 2, which we've started and then going back to 1, or going back to 1 and then finishing up with 2. I'm going to insist on finishing up 2, since we're already working on it.)
M. Reynard AKA Ragathiel's Hand |
We're having fun with 2, let's keep going with it?
Ahraq Fireheart |
Repositioned my token. Actions and thoughts remain the same. I think we just need to get Khana into position, though perhaps GM could move her based on her last post.
Ahraq Fireheart |
I'll keep that in mind, thanks. Unfortunately, Singapore isn't one of our regular stops currently, though contracts do change. I spend most of my Asia layovers in Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul (Incheon), and Tokyo (out near Narita). Occasionally I get down under to Sydney, and have gotten to play there. Gonna try to hit the Honolulu group if the timing lines up with a layover there, and I've played in Anchorage too. Heard there might be some play in Manila, which I plan to hit on days off later this year.
Elado Zoros |
Guys, please don't forget about the magic darkness here. We've all been pretty lax about it, but let's try to remember the rule.
Elado will tote his Wayfinder for light.

Just a head's up:
From about Thursday until Sunday/Monday this coming week my computer will be off-line and my posting will be sporadic at best because I will be out of town at a convention.
Power is being taken down at the house and the circuit the computer is on will be worked on, so don't want to take chances.
Yroh of the Snows |
Acrobatics? I don't see a clear path however.
Baku Shaw |
O.o...I was in the room with Khana...
The acrobatics was for moving away from the goblins.
Fixed my position.
Baku Shaw |
I'm involved in a local Con this weekend so likely won't be posting much until Monday.
Feel free to bot me if needed.
Yroh of the Snows |
Apologies, I will send a response in an hour or two when I get home.
Baku Shaw |
Back. Posting momentarily.
M. Reynard AKA Ragathiel's Hand |
I would be interested, but I think I need to rework Raga a bit, she's not *quite* where I thought she would be at this point.
Ahraq Fireheart |
I'm going to pass. Ahraq was just a place-holder, planning to rebuild after a couple GM credits. Thanks for offering though.
Yroh of the Snows |
Yroh will return with some shiny new armor.
Baku Shaw |
What is the level range of the next part?
Baku Shaw |
Gotcha.
Yeah, I'm game for continuing to the next level. I do plan on doing a slight rebuild in between though.
GM Redelia |
Several of you guys are wanting to adjust characters before they get locked in at level 2, so we can certainly have a little pause before going on to the next level. I think we're just waiting to hear from Khana if she is going to continue. (well, and finishing up the current level :) )
Khāṇa Tsogtsos |
Count me out - I'm actually in another "Emerald Spire for the long haul" game with other characters.
May I ask what would have happened if the goblin had managed its spell?
