Yeah, cast defensively means concentration checkmate avoid the AoO, succeed and cast, fail and lose the spell as if cast but no effect.

If it makes you feel better, you get to cheat and cast restoration via SLA as a 1 standard action spell, rather than the 3 full rounds it typically takes!

Yes, I had to double check, but SLA'so are always a Standard action, unless they take Quicken SLA, which makes it a Swift, obviously.
One of the reasons Summon and Call spells can be so beneficial, TBH

Karnog previously pulled together a bunch of links regarding the quests. I'm going to build off this with information that the Keeper will be providing you.

obviously another level of fighter
bonus feat: Advanced Armor Training which gives me
Steel Headbutt (Ex): While wearing medium or heavy armor, a fighter can deliver a headbutt with his helm as part of a full attack action. This headbutt is in addition to his normal attacks, and is made using the fighter’s base attack bonus – 5. A helmet headbutt deals 1d3 points of damage if the fighter is wearing medium armor, or 1d4 points of damage if he is wearing heavy armor (1d2 and 1d3, respectively, for Small creatures), plus an amount of damage equal to 1/2 the fighter’s Strength modifier. Treat this attack as a weapon attack made using the same special material (if any) as the armor. The armor’s enhancement bonus does not modify the headbutt attack, but the helm can be enchanted as a separate weapon.
You better believe I am going to put some ridiculous enchantment on that! Holy Headbutt here we come!

I'm rereading a few prior posts and the adventure thread. Dang you've been in and gotten yourself out of some tight jams.
I'm also laughing at the near yearly (in real time) recurrent theme with Desmond's character: he thinks below his waist. I wonder if 2018 will be any different than 2016 (vampire) or 2017 (courtesan).

Picking a seventh level spell, just one, is hard! I'm gonna list some spells I'm thinking about for some group input.
Particulate Form: I give you all fast healing 1 and make you immune to bleed damage, critical hits, sneak attacks, and other forms of precision damage. Could be useful, could have creepy aberrant flavor.
Ooze Form III: I turn into a giant ooze and devour our foes. So awesome! Although that might make things hard for you guys.
Greater black tentacles: +13 attack to evil, 4d6+13 damage per round grappled. Very thematic, he has the lesser spell. Again, might complicate for our melee fighters.
Symbol of Weakness: 3d6 STR damage to all enemies in 60' radius. Potentially very useful in that it can debuff melee attackers and potentially cripple casters.
Mage's Sword: Could I flavor it as a boarspear? +21 to hit, 4d6+3 force damage for 14 rounds. Can hit ethereal and incorporeal, which is nice. Kinda basic though.
Delayed blast fireball: f@%~in classic. 14d6, reflex save (noticed I don't have much of that this battle vs two melee types).
Greater Teleport: awesome utility but hard to take as a first 7th level spell. Feels more like a second one, you know?
Mage's Magnificent Mansion: also pretty unsexy but maybe a refuge for Karnog when we're blocked from his God.
Any thoughts? Possible other alternatives?

            Re: spells
I always tend to go for teleport/wall spells as a default, but as a sorcerer, you're gonna want a multi-purpose one for your one & only spell known.
Limited Wish gets you plenty of utility, at the cost of GP per use.
If you want to change shape, greater polymorph or form of the Dragon 2 are my choices.
Greater Teleport or Plane Shift are the GTFO buttons, which, when combined with resurrection, means we can keep party members alive. Assuming we can teleport, of course.
Prismatic Spray, Waves of Exhaustion, and Waves of Ecstasy are all fantastic AoE spells, depending on which you'd prefer to inflict.
If I were picking, it would be a toss up between Greater Polymorph and Limite wish
