I think I answered this before. You cannot attack what you cannot see.

Do you see what is in purple under my name here ;)

Could you put the link to the Roll20 page at the top with the wilderness map link? It would make it easier to locat the link when i go to our current map.

I was thinking of having Gilda torch the webs, but I like them there in case more come. What do you all think she should do? She could summon something and have it harass them. Perhaps an earth elemental. Or she could join us on the other side. Perhaps she has resist energy? Not sure what she can do without seeing a spell list.

She doesn't have much as a 3rd level druid. And she can't even use her 2nd level spell slots, because she just turned 3rd level after fighting the first group of hobgoblins.

She could summon nature's ally, she has 1 L1 spell left....Cure Light Wounds

They're coming from two directions, Reynaud is basically specced to turtle up and not die so holding a choke point is a good fit for him especially if Gilda can take potshots at the hobs past him or support you guys. I don't think we should move too much until one side is more or less neutralized or else we'll be pincered.

I have to check the description of web, but I don't believe they can be targetted because they are so far back in the web. They cannot be seen.

I'm gonna delay and wait until the rest take actions...
...even if they're weak, I don't want any surprises or to get surrounded and Aid Another'd to death.
=P

They obviously know we're here, so Stealth is out the window and Tony needs to flank to be combat relevant.

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

you already took your turn Tony, Waiting on Seir and Belle. And need assistance on what you want Brodin to do.

I do see it. I just have to scroll around to look for a post you've made to find the link. If the gameplay contains recent posts from players but not you, then I have to navigate to a different set of posts in order to get to the link. Rather than having to look around for one of your posts I thought it would be nice to add the link to the top next to the wilderness map link. Just makes life easier.

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

OK, I will see what I can do....last time I looked I couldn't figure out how to change that map. Would adding it to the campaign info suffice, if I can't figure out how to add it with the maps?

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

Oh hey, never mind....that option was not there when I tried to change the wilderness map.

Yea! Looks like a success to me!

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

Doesn't Brodin know that when performing Parkour, it is obligatory to yell, 'Parkour!'?
=P

;)

Got a PM from Boss Zogg (Tony the First) this morning. Life is not treating him kindly. While things are more settled now that they have been, he cannot commit at this time. He approved of the current Tony. I told him when things settle down, if he wants back in, Brodin is currently open, or he could bring in a new character of his own creation.

FYI: After you leave the hobgoblin lair, I'm going to have Gilda and Brodin leave. Do you want me to start looking for another player?

Yes, please. I would like to have 5 characters in the party. 6 would be OK too, but I think of 5 as the magic number and 4 would be asking for problems.

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

I'd also be willing to give him Tony back and just take over Brodin.
I've been avoiding getting too attached to him...

Hands of Fate, what are you rules for picking up and passing off items?

I want Tony to pick up the quiver (or just the arrows) of the goblin that's dead next to him and pass them to Brodin. Does he have to be in the square to grab the items.
What action, if any, does it take to pass or accept an item?

Also, Brodin should move to the corner, adjacent to Garrosh.

Looking for another player would be fine in my book :D

Makes me feel like Garrosh is outliving them! ROARR!!

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

Decided to set up some concealment instead. Only lasts a round, though.
=/

EDIT: I'm not sure why anyone would buy smoke pellets if smokesticks are a) cheaper and b) last longer.

That could change quickly. Belle is running out of vanish spells and places to hide.

Lets take that as it comes, right now, he is still out.

Tony Tanner II wrote:

Per the SRD, picking up an item is a move equivalent action that draws an AoO. I would rule that handing off an item would be a free action. Lets make it easy.

I added in the color commentary more for character than anything. I am sure Brodin has been picking up quivers of arrows off dead hobgobs. Much easier than retrieving individual arrows. And, since he can't be encumbered...

And thanks all for sticking with it. I really love a longer running game where you get a chance to develop your character and get to know the other characters and players. To be honest this has been my favorite PbP game to date. I have one other long running game but the post rate is agonizingly slow. I've tried to get in a couple dozen APs to no avail and have come to the conclusion that I just don't present my characters well enough. Oh well. I'd sure glad I was chosen for this one.

I take that back. I just went to check on a submission and I just got into a RoTR game. Hope its as fun as this game has been!

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

Uh, point of order...
...we already have a way out. Back the way we came, as long as the webs are gone and those goblins are dead, right?

Searching for another exit could be futile and risks Belle getting lost or separated.

If we're gonna sweep and clear, we should sweep and clear but if this is looking like too many, we should retreat.

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

If you're ever on the Weave, look me up. I've run a couple games that last years. Though I'm about to start experimenting with one-shots that will be self-contained adventure locations or encounters.

Thanks, Tony. I'll certainly keep that in mind.

I forget I recruited you from there. :)

My longest running PBP was a Savage Worlds/Hellfrost game. It started here with me as a player. The GM ghosted very shortly after the game started (like, didn't even get to the first encounter). I rescued it, moved it to the Weave and ran it for 2 years. Finished one module, but the roleplaying was incredible. The skald write a 'song' that was a eulogy for the dead in the town.

#1: This is also currently one of my favorite games, so let's keep at it please;

#2: What is the Weave? Sounds mystical :D

Male Human Fighter (Unbreakable 5)

The Weave is the opposite of the Shadow Weave. Created by Mystryl it's considered by some to be a direct connection to the Goddess of Magic.

I'm betting it's Mythweaver, another medium for RPG play. Never heard it called 'The Weave' though.

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

Myth-Weavers is another gaming forum pretty much dedicated to play-by-post. If you do make it over there, please feel free to look me up.

I also enjoy this game. Will see how long that lasts. After about Character Level 13, the rules start breaking down and make it quite unenjoyable for me as a GM, but...

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

Uh. Where'd those cornered hobgoblins go?

Male Human Cleric 4 /Monk 1 AC: 22 T: 21 FF: 13 HP 28/37 Init +2 Fort +8 Ref +6 Will +13

Yeah, one high-level game has gotten to the point where before we do anything important, we end up spending most of a session planning. (partly due to our stupidly large party size)

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net
Tony Tanner II wrote:

Didn't realize these ones all have ninja class levels did you?

Actually, they weren't cornered. There's a passage back there you can't see because of your angle... it just looks like a dead end.

Male Human Unchained Rogue 5

...
Between this news and that natural 1...

...I'm dejected.

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

I still consider introducing GM Intrusions to this game...

|| Loot List || Male half-orc Bloodrager 1 / Inquisitor 6 / Fighter 1 <> AC: 20 // HP: 64/64

Who's that?

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

What's that. GM Intrusion is a mechanism from the Cypher System (Numenera, The Strange) where the GM can do something that will make the game more interesting. BUT, to do so, the GM has to give experience out. You can deny it but you have to spend XP to do so. If you roll a 1, the GM can do an intrusion without giving you XP.

Example intrusions;

- reinforcements arrive
- your starship suddenly drops out of warp, in the middle of an enemy armada
- bowstring snaps or arrow strikes the wrong target
- your animal companion goes out of control
- someone you are going to socially interact with has a hatred of orcs and half-orcs
- your gun jams
- your dagger manages to strike the hobgoblin, but the blade gets lodged between it's ribs and is yanked out of your hand.

Intrusions can range from mild to very bad. But when the GM offers them, they don't tell you exactly what it is, just that they wish to intrude. You decie if you are going to allow it (and gain some XP) or not (and pay XP).

|| Loot List || Male half-orc Bloodrager 1 / Inquisitor 6 / Fighter 1 <> AC: 20 // HP: 64/64

I see... What about 'good' intrusions?

Female NG Elf Arcanist (White Mage) 1 | HP: 8/8 | AC/FF/T: 12/10/12 | CMD:11 | F:/R/W:+1/2/2 +2 vs. encht | Init: +4 | Speed 30ft | Appraise +8, Know (Arc) +8, Ling +8, Perc +7, SpCft +8(10) | Active Conditions: None

I'm for anything that brings drama into the game, good or bad.

They do happen

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

FYI - I will be off camping this coming weekend Fri - Mon. I will probably post Friday morning, but will be off grid until Monday eve.

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

So, just checking, Belle and Reynaud are the only ones with light sources right now? Or did I miss something.

|| Loot List || Male half-orc Bloodrager 1 / Inquisitor 6 / Fighter 1 <> AC: 20 // HP: 64/64

Don't need any PUNY light sources!

And by the way - I am off on vacations from next Thursday until... The 11/12th September!! Wohoooo!!!

I will most likely be able to check the boards, but don't think I will be able to update any of my games (not even this one), due to large amounts of sun, water (pool and sea), grilled fish and meat (plus accompanying beverages) with which I will gladly have to deal with ;)

Feel free to bot the marauding Garrosh if needed.

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

So that's Aug 31 - Sept 12? I will maraud as appropriate. I'll just need to make sure we are on the same page with what you have memorized. If you have time next time you are in roll20, copuld you check out your character sheet and fill in spells as appropriate?

If not, just list what you currently have readied, and I'll transcribe it

|| Loot List || Male half-orc Bloodrager 1 / Inquisitor 6 / Fighter 1 <> AC: 20 // HP: 64/64

Updated my character sheet with a Warpriest Spells Left line, right under the Warpriest Spells Prepared.

Will that work?

Rappan Athuk on roll20.net

Yawp! I'll transfer over to roll 20 and you will need to check in there when you return to make sure you are still aligned
