Elathras Narcinal |

need to stop all that noise Elathras step forward, past the carcass of the gnoll he kill, moving up and around the other he flanks, pivoting on his left foot he brings his Guisarme to bear on the second gnoll, bringing it slashing down on the beasts shoulders from behind.
moved 20 ft. 3rd.rd.rage, power attack, flank, HP 19, AC 16 attack with Guisarme
attack: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (5) + 6 + 2 = 13 for damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (3, 2) + 9 = 14

brvheart |

Elathras kills that one, but two more appear from the west. Virgil, Dolgrin and then Mittleid are up. Mittlied, you will have to move to shoot. Seems a sorcerer just stepped in your path.

Tomato Jam |

Virgil uses the momentum from his upswing to hurl his Greatclub over his shoulder: it lands safely behind him. Smoothly drawing his shortbow as he sidesteps, the Ranger takes a shot at the Gnoll on the right.
Virgil drops his weapon as a free action, takes a five-foot-step diagonally, draws his bow and fires.
Bow attack: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (18) + 3 = 21
Bow damage: 1d6 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 7

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

Double Move
Well, it's certainly an occupied ruin. he says, stepping past the still bleeding gnoll.
You knock very thoroughly, friend Elathras

Mitleid |

Moving forward 20 feet Mitleid looks at the next enemys and shoots at them with a smile on his face.
Attack: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (6) + 2 = 81d8 ⇒ 5
Hello, crap roll, my old friend
you've come to haunt me again
Because I start slowly weeping
Left its seeds while I was sleeping
And the vision that was planted in my brain
Still remains
Within the rolls of crappyness.

brvheart |

Lol, Mittleid! You are not going to get a clear shot from back there at this point anyway. Too many in the way.
Irenicus, then top of round with Elathras and Katzor

Kaztor Strongforge |

Kaz will press the attack on the gnoll.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (10) + 2 = 12
DamGe 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4

brvheart |

Better than Mittleid, but with +2 to hit it take a bit better rolls even to hit a gnoll.

brvheart |

Note on ranged attacks: I should probably add this to my house rules. Cover: When firing through your allies they provide a +4 cover to the enemy. This is in addition to the -4 for firing into melee. Precise shot removes the latter only. Improved precise shot is needed to get around this. Now here is the kicker. If you miss by the cover, you hit the cover. Meaning you have a 20% chance of hitting your ally!

Elathras Narcinal |

mpre gnolls to kill, bring them on! seeing the next two gnolls and that Katzor seems to have the first in hand, Elathras steps up beside the dwarf and attacks the most northern gnoll with his guisarme, intend on disemboweling the beast.
rage, power attack, HP 19, AC 14 attack with Guisarme 4th rd. raging
attack:: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 22 for damage: 2d4 + 9 ⇒ (4, 2) + 9 = 15

brvheart |

Initiative Order Round Tbree? I think
Elethras hit a gnoll and killed it
Katzor attacked and missed
gnoll attacked and missed
Virgil
Wdrozgruk
Dolgrin
Mittleid
Irenicus

brvheart |

Gnoll attacks Katzor
battleaxe: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (4) + 3 = 7 damage: 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

Move up, miss.
1d20 + 4 ⇒ (2) + 4 = 6
1d4 + 1 ⇒ (3) + 1 = 4
Dolgrin moves into position, swinging sure to cleave the gnolls knees in twain, when he hears virgil's comment. Pulling up short, he looks up at the castle.
perception: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (6) + 1 = 7
I see no goblins, it's just this last dogman here.

brvheart |

See how well that works when they learn to get out our your way? One hit. Of course my wife hits our barbarian in the back in our game today! Anyone at the table that had played with us for awhile knows why we have that rule(lol). Huge barbarian standing in the doorway and she thinks she can fire over him at the rogue/wiz floating off the ground on the other side. He was not half as annoyed as when she missed the trap that hit him for 102 hp with a double scythe blade on a crit, 6d4+12 x4! Ouch:( And this is a Paizo AP!

brvheart |

With writers like Richard Pett and Greg Vaughan I expected nothing less. They write a lot of FGG stuff, especially Greg.

brvheart |

Ok, Irenicus will move forward 25' and hit the remaining gnoll with another force missile:
damage: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (2) + 1 = 3
And the last gnoll falls. XP=230 each. Where to all?

Elathras Narcinal |

need to catch my breath As the last gnoll falls, Elathras lowers his pole arm, then looks around the courtyard, stepping back into the entryway. he says, Nice hit Irenicus, give me a minute to catch my breath, fatigued, need 42 seconds Virgil where did you say you saw those goblins at?" As he listens to Virgil he roots through each of the gnolls pockets, taking the best shield and axe he can find, adding them to his arsenal. Then looking at the group he asks "where to now?"
perception: courtyard: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (20) + 10 = 30
perception: gnolls: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

brvheart |

The courtyard is a small expanse of mud and overgrown grass. The ground gets muddier in the north-eastern end. Beyond that you see nothing moving. The gnolls are dead or dying.

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

Detect Evil the gnolls.
1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5 Heal w/ a charge of luck to stabilize.
Help me, this one can be redeemed. He has not fallen completely yet.
Assuming they're all evil.
Dolgrin says a small prayer to Note, then coup de gras the remaining gnolls one by one. His eyes bleak, but his hands steady.
Blessings be upon and around thee, that you might find grace in the next life, your soul reborn out of this base suffering form. May you be a halfling.

Kaztor Strongforge |

"Anyone see a ranged weapon on one of these gnolls? I could use one, if I know how to fire it."

brvheart |

They are all evil. The gnolls have leather armor, heavy wooden shield, battle axe, net, 3d4 sp each, no ranged weapons.

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

Grab a net/axe/shield. Pool the silver.
silver: 12d4 ⇒ (3, 3, 4, 3, 3, 3, 3, 4, 2, 1, 3, 4) = 36
He finishes his work, then peeks further in counting doors.
We'll want to get out of the courtyard. Too many windows once we clear this gatehouse. Head left, we'll need to rush across. Get us up against that inner wall and any archers will have a hard time. Bring the axes, we'll likely need them.
Once the group is ready, he darts across, holding a borrowed shield over his head.
Total Defense (+4) + a Heavy Shield in place of his usual light shield (net +1) makes his AC 25 for the next bit.

Elathras Narcinal |

Grab a net/axe/shield...
no offence Dogrin, but can you use the medium gear? Virgil do you want to grab any gear? Which building (number) were the goblins in and do we want to head there next? Might be easier to have this conversation on roll20

brvheart |

Elathras, Dolgrin is taking some initiative so I don't have an issue with it. You are right, that it is too big for him, but for him to just grab it to run across the courtyard for protection I say that is ok. I say follow is lead. The goblins were in the windows on the second floor above 13 & 14. To which door A, B or C? Who ever labeled all of them good idea and has earned themselves 100XP:)

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

Yep, larger weapons have a penalty, but he's going to hack a door down with it not brawl. Same with shields. If I wanted to hit a person I'd be in trouble. Nets are vs touch ac, so not a big deal there either.

brvheart |

Inappropriately Sized Weapons: A creature can't make optimum use of a weapon that isn't properly sized for it. A cumulative –2 penalty applies on attack rolls for each size category of difference between the size of its intended wielder and the size of its actual wielder. If the creature isn't proficient with the weapon, a –4 nonproficiency penalty also applies.

Elathras Narcinal |

my initial thought was to go to 9 (door c) since that would be where the goblins are, better to get to them before they can reinforce too much
the little guy has a good idea lifting his borrowed shield up, ready to run across the yard to where the goblins door should be. Elathras explains "It looks like the access to the main building will put us closest to the Goblins, shall we all charge the door, or do we want to leave some here to cover the window in case the goblins attack?" Addressing Kaztor's question "I do not think the gnolls have any ranged weapons, but I can loan you a javelin or three"

Mitleid |

And as we are in rule mode, the gnolls will not be evil, if they are not priests. Needs 5hd to show as evil, if not cleric, antipaladin, undead or evil outsider.
Moving forward Mitleid takes a place to be pepper any one in upper levels with arrows.

Elathras Narcinal |

"thanks, Mitleid" Seeing Mitleid stepping up to cover the windows, Elathras lifts up the gnoll shield and walks out into the courtyard, pole arm in hand, walking toward what appears to me the main entrance to the castle looking carefully for any traps between the gatehouse and the doorway. AC 20 with shield
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (19) + 10 = 29

Virgil the Vigilant |

Moving forward Mitleid takes a place to be pepper any one in upper levels with arrows.
Virgil follows suit: after grabbing and stowing a shield and axe, the Ranger nocks an arrow and starts watching the windows for movement.
"Nice place. Maybe it's on the market? Discount for all the pests?"
Perception: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (13) + 6 = 19
