Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

sling 3rd range increment: 1d20 + 5 - 4 ⇒ (15) + 5 - 4 = 16
sling damage if appropriate: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 2 = 4
Doe
A hit, surely. She looks lamed by it.
Dolgrin says this if he hits, or if he misses, because dolgrin can't tell at this distance and he's a positive thinker.

Mitleid |

By the way Mitleid would have flurried.
Good shoot indead. I will thank the spirit of the animal for its sacrifice!"
And after a quick prayer the dwarf walks up to the deer and carefully takes the arrow out and after examining it stashes it away to burn it in the campfire later as offer to dwarfeter.

brvheart |

You hit it Dolgrin, but not enough to slow her down unfortunately

brvheart |

Can you flurry ranged? Normally a monk can't. Not that is matters as your first shot brought it down after the ranger hit it.

brvheart |

Ok, well I will need to wait for you from now on then until I get used to your class

Elathras Narcinal |

why would his god not want him to eat meat?
Elathras smiles and says,
"I wouldn't eat it raw either, put it in the stew or stick it on a spit, best meat on the dear, no fat, very health! Shall we return to the river bank so we have fresh water, I would like to clean up a little after all this blood."
after a fine dinner Elathras asks the team,
"How shall we do watch, I can see well enough and don't need to rest a lot, so I am willing to take the middle watch, who will watch with me?"
were we able to harvest the hide?

Mitleid |

Zen archer is actually simple. Imagine a monk that can do all monkish things, but only with the bow. But no worries, I will try to guide you through it ;-).
"I will also take the last watch. I enjoy the morning solitutede."

Irenicus |

Sorry flurry of posts while I slept. I can try to knock out the doe I think.
Irenicus fires off a mote of red light that zips towards the doe that Dolgrin hit.
force missle: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (1) + 1 = 2
After the deer is prepared, Irenicus offers to take first watch, needing his beauty sleep. "Be cautious with this meat lying around, it will attract other beasts."

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

First watch, although my eyesight isn't the best I can at least stand ready. I might also do some minor work to deter the rust. It will pass the time.
Dolgrin smiles, settling his back to the fire.

brvheart |

Since the Heart of Arden is all that is left of the god, no eating hearts would not go over well. Well played Virgil.
So for watches:
1- Irenicus, Dolgrin
2- Elathras, Gruk
3- Virgil, Mitleid
Katzor can pick whatever watch he wants with all covered.

Kaztor Strongforge |

Katz needs his rest so he will take third watch, his darkvision will still provide some benefit for that watch.

brvheart |

campfire is up! Place yourselves if you like, then I will roll for wanders during the night

brvheart |

Virgil, Mitleid and Katzor roll a perception please:) The rest of you are asleep.

Kaztor Strongforge |

"Wake up, wake up! The bear's coming right for us!". The cleric yells to wake everyone and casts Bless.
Remember your Bless bonus to hit.

brvheart |

Ok that is Kaztor's surprise round action. Waiting to see if the two others saw or heard it. Everyone else can roll initiative for Round one but are asleep for the surprise round. Bear has not acted in the surprise round yet!

Elathras Narcinal |

I totally forgot about armor, can't sleep in armor! so Elathras AC is 13, crap
what? bear? What?
Elathras, startled awake, jumping to his feet, grabbing his Guisarme, he spins about trying to see where that animal is coming from
Where! Where?
init: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (2) + 7 = 9
perception: 1d20 + 10 ⇒ (16) + 10 = 26

brvheart |

You can do all that in Round One Elathras. The Bear gets an attack first! Oh, with your init, a couple of them!

brvheart |

perception Mitleid: 1d10 + 3 - 4 ⇒ (8) + 3 - 4 = 7
perception Virgil: 1d10 + 6 - 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 6 = 3
They are both surprised and can roll init for round one. The bear charges Katzor
claw: 1d20 + 6 + 2 ⇒ (2) + 6 + 2 = 10 damage: 1d4 + 3 ⇒ (3) + 3 = 6

Kaztor Strongforge |

"Augh, the bear is on me! Wake up...to arms!". The dwarf swings his hammer at the animal that had stalked him.
Attack 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (8) + 2 = 10
Damage 1d8 + 2 ⇒ (1) + 2 = 3

Dolgrin Brightlaughter |

init: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (13) + 3 = 16
Dolgrin's AC is 15 without his scale.
damage: 1d3 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Bear, bear what? Oh, BEAR. Right, Bad Bear.
Dolgrin startles awake, then punchs the bear in the nose.
If the GM would please put dolgrin in melee with Ze bear when it's his initiative, I'm phoneposting so can't get at roll20

brvheart |

Wdrozgruk, you kinda have an issue. Seems you woke up with a bear right next to you! Just about anything you do is going to provide - moving, standing up etc. You can fire the ray but you will need to either cast defensively or take the AOO. Remember all, you are not sleeping standing up so the first thing you need to do is to take a move action to stand.

brvheart |

rerolling Mitleid's perception using a d20 rather than a d10!
perception Mitleid: 1d20 + 2 - 4 ⇒ (3) + 2 - 4 = 1

Virgil the Vigilant |

Virgil watches his corner of the camp, his fletching knife smoothly crafting another arrow. Oblivious to Kaztor's ursine situation, Virgil grins under his mustaches: another fine missile nearly complete.
Perception: 1d20 + 6 - 6 ⇒ (3) + 6 - 6 = 3
As Kaztor yells, Virgil's hand slips: cleanly slicing the would-be arrow in two. The ranger sighs heavily, then swings his greatclub around and charges towards the beast.
Initiative: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23
Virgil drops the arrow as a free action, rounding on the bear, drawing his Greatclub, and charging as a full-round action.
Greatclub attack: 1d20 + 4 + 2 ⇒ (15) + 4 + 2 = 21
Greatclub damage: 1d10 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Mitleid |

Waking up,Mitleid gently takes his bow and with a sudden explosion of movement fires two arrows.
Using perfect strike
Flurry: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (11) + 1 = 121d8 ⇒ 4
FlurryPS: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (17) + 1 = 181d8 ⇒ 1
Flurry: 1d20 + 1 ⇒ (15) + 1 = 161d8 ⇒ 4
Two arrows hit the bear

brvheart |

init Mittleid: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (4) + 2 = 6
init Irenicus: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (16) + 2 = 18

brvheart |

Irenicus you have an action prior to the bear. Remember you are prone.

brvheart |

Irenicus casts force missile at the bear
force missile: 1d4 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5

brvheart |

The bear decided it had heard enough. Declared actions of Gruk and Mittleid bring the bear down. XP=115 each.

Virgil the Vigilant |

"Well," Says Virgil, wiping the blood and bear skull off of his Greatclub: "Good morning. Everyone sleep well?"
The ranger makes his way over to the bear's corpse, grabbing one of it's the massive limbs. With a heave, he pulls it back towards the campsite.
"Great. Big ol' bear. Do we want to try and drag it back to the Hamlet? I remember whole bears being valuable."

Elathras Narcinal |

looks like I slept through a bear attack, well, they seemed to do ok
Elathras, waking up during the combat, yawning, stretching and scratching himself, follows Virgil out to the bear, helping him pull it closer to the campsite he adds
"We can use it for meat, and take the hide, I think it would be too difficult to drag the whole carcass with us back to the village, especially since we are headed to the castle."
unless someone says otherwise, once the bear is back near the camp Elathras will use the rest of the early morning skinning a butchering the bear.
survival: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (13) + 5 = 18
before combat Elathras rolled a 26 perception, is this high enough to tell if this is the fabled 'red bear' or is this just some other normal colored bear?

brvheart |

That was a little one. The red bear is rumored to be about four times that size!

Virgil the Vigilant |

"These black bears are known for it. Call them 'Stealth bears' back home. Quiet as mice."
The ranger gives Kaztor a sympathetic pat on the shoulder and offers him a (suspiciously potent-smelling) waterskin.
Virgil will also find a quiet moment to mention whole bears' value to Elathras and stop him from slicing it up.
