When you say no peeking, do you mean at the "map", because of cours there is no peeking at spoilers.

Kyras Darksoul |

Remember Kobolds love to build traps. Kyras warns. He goes first and searches, taking 10 for a 23, as he goes.

Tamora |

Tamora stays at the back, watching carefully with her detect spells and senses after picking the loot and giving it to Hoga for holding. (Perception (Take 20) - 30 or Take (Take 10) - 20 if we are rushing)

Kakrish Stonetoe |

Sorry. I got distracted with work and this fell off my radar. I'm back on it now.
Kakrish follows Hoga and Kyras as they move towards the pit. "What an awful place. Smells horrible in here. Or is that you Hoga?"
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (16) + 5 = 21

Rannik |

Hoga walks into the room on the left. He gets closer to the pit and look down. At the bottom, he sees a dark liquid reflecting some of the light back to him. Sniffing the air, he is able to recognize the liquid as water, it is slightly stagnant, but it is water.
The rest of the group walks forward, still on their guard. Tamora and Kakrish detect some movement in the room to the right. It looks like there is something in the thick mounds of moldy straw. They can't identify what, but there are at least four or five creatures in there.

Kyzen |

Kyzen stops in the middle of the stairs, turns and sees Kakrish entering the room, Kyzen runs down and catch up with him and stands ready to blast anything that looks like it'll attack... Whispering "What is it? What did you see?"

Kyras Darksoul |

Likely kobolds, but perhaps large rats. Kyras surmises. Knowing his foe's fondness for them, he maintains his diligence in looking for traps.

Kakrish and Kyzen walks into the room. The smell of moldy straw mixed with feces hits them. As they try to ignore the smell, they see pairs of red eyes near the floor sticking out of the straw. It is soon followed by a loud hissing noise. You think that Kyras might be right, and this could be a nest of some large rats. You also get the feeling that they don't seem to want you to investigate this room further. With no other exit in this room, you recall an old saying about cornered rats...
Kyzen and Tamora, I'm keeping your attack in ready since the creatures didn't move out of the straw enough for a clear shot.

Kyzen |

Looking towards Kyras "You might be right my friend, those seems to be large rats." now turning back is focus towards the rats, Kyzen say to Kakrish "There's an old saying about cornered rats..." wainting for Kakrish to complete the sentence....

Kakrish Stonetoe |

Cornered rat saying? Not sure I've heard it. But google tells me of a Japanese saying -- cornered rats bite cats. I like that one.
"Yeah. Cornered rats bite cats." Kakrish grimaces when he remembers learning this first hand as a young dwarf in the mines. "Sometime I'll have to tell you about some rats I ran into as a kid. But for now..." He turns his attention to the moving straw and waves his sword towards the musty pile. "Want to come out an play, smelly rats?"

Kyras Darksoul |

Kyras prepares an alchemist's fire and hangs in the back. I hope they do not swarm.

Kyzen |

Seeing Kakrish moving the straws... "Let me try this!" Kyzen launch his blast into the midle of the pile, so that the rats would come out and we could finish this and be on our way...
Do I use my previous roll for the blast or do I roll again? Is this still my readied action or another action? It doesn't really matter since all I want to do is get the rats out, but for academic purposes... Of cours if I can damage a rat in the process, it's always good...

Rannik |

Kyzen sends a blast of energy into the straw. The blast misses the rats, but sends straw, dirt and feces flying everywhere. Before everything settle back down, five giant rats jump out as one, ready to fight the group. Tamora, finally seeing a good target, send her bolt flying. It hits one of the rats on the side. The creature shrieks in pain, but it is still standing.

Tamora's badger attacks the rat in front of him. The rat is able to avoid most of the attacks, but one of the badger's claws dig deep into the rat's side. The rat is hurt but still standing... barely. At almost the same time, Kyras swing his Fauchard at another rat, slicing its head off.
Kyzen is up.

Kyzen |

Kyzen launch another blast at the green rat, but is clearly distracted from one of the straw stuck in his left eye. He takes is move action to remove the straw.

Just adjusted Kyzen's HP. Took only 1 damage from rat bit (DR 1/adam.) and added my -2 nonlethal damage from the burn I took earlier with my kinetic blade.

Rats with adamantine teeth, cool, we're going to be rich...

Tamora |
1 person marked this as a favorite. |

Let's save one to breed for more gold.

Tamora |

Waiting for GM.

Tamora |

Tamora scans the black liquid with her detect magic and alignment spells. If the waters are detect as evil and magical, she will shoot a few rays of positive energy at the hole.

Tamora |

"Hmm, I detect nothing down there. The water is mundane water. I wonder if this is a well or a waterway."

Kyzen |

"Seems like it." looking at the two exits, Kyzen moves toward the north exit... "Mmm, Hey friends what do you say we go north." at the entrance Kyzen gives a look to Hoga, letting him know that he waits for him to take point. In the meantime Kyzen listen into the corridor...
Perception: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (1) + 5 = 6
Wow dices are not on my side... I definitely hear something... "Echoes the sound of silence"... Hahahah...

Kakrish Stonetoe |

After finishing off the rats, Kakrish wanders back towards the well with the others. "Thanks for checking the water, Tamora. The last thing we need is to be poisoned." He scans the room looking for exits. "Yes. North is the best way. I'm sure." he replies to Kyzen.

Kyras Darksoul |

Kobolds. Traps. Kyras says as he takes point and checks the passage as the group advances.

Rannik |

Kyras leads the way in the corridor, looking for possible traps. He doesn't find any and eventually gets into the next room. A few torches wedged into niches in this cave’s rocky walls burn fitfully. This area is obviously used for labor-intensive tasks such as making rope from vines, drying meat, and tanning hides, but the working conditions are squalid at best. You can hear the cries of people and the sound of whips coming from the opposite side of this room. As you try to make out what is going on, a Kobold come into view. Sadly, he notices you at the same time and let out a cry. Three more Kobolds come into view and they look ready for a fight.

These looks like tables, right?
"Tamora, we still don't necessarily want to fight are way through right?, So someone... Tell them we don't want to fight if no need to..."
Then Kyzen moves beside Kyras and take a defensive position, trying to let the Kobolds know that fighting is not necessary, like moving both hands in a "no fighting, no fighting" gesture...

Tamora |

Nodding, Tamora moves next to Kyzen and keeps her xbow dipped to show that she is non-hostile but readies an attack in case their approach backfire. She asks Kyras to translate for her.
"You have two choice; let us through without violence or resist us. If you value your lives, you have a chance to abandon this senseless crusade of your masters now."
If the party's parley failed, Tamora shoots at the kobold across her facing. She will tell her badger to move with total defense (Total AC 13 + 4 = 17) to the front to block the choke point.

Excellent roll. Btw, is Kyzen using aid another on her?

Tamora |

I forgot they are not blocking anything.
Tamora stares at the kobolds without faltering.
"Escaping with your lives intact. If that did not satisfy your end, at best we will assure freedom from your master's leash and deal with them so that you don't have to deal with them again. In addition, we will make sure your basic needs such as food are met, no more. Requesting more will make my companions extremely unhappy. It would be wise not to provoke them into attacking. So do we have a deal? What we offer in exchange for not fighting us?"
