Snicker.
Unfortunately, to move beside Thorthal requires moving into Thorthal's space, as the dwarf is blocking the entrance to the alcove. Normally, this would mean the movement provokes an attack, if the enemy weren't grappling.
In this case...
As Morgrom moves into the alcove to rush past Thorthal, he suddenly stops and stares slack-jawed.
This is the point where Chris usually exclaims, "Sonofa!"
So Petronicus is grappling with skin. And Thorthal and Morgrom are in the same "square", staring into space.

Thorthal does not resist Haer Kul's repositioning.
grapple: 1d20 + 8 + 5 ⇒ (11) + 8 + 5 = 24
constrict: 1d4 ⇒ 3
The skin wraps itself tightly around Petronicus, pinning the curator in place and squeezing until popping sounds some from somewhere within. It is apparent that any attacks against the creature may also harm the wizard.
Thorthal returns to his senses, but finds himself Shaken by the vision.

The best bet would be some sort of attack which harms undead creatures, but not living ones..
Thorthal Runecloak
"A, uh, whit?"
Thorthal shakes his head for a moment, and then enters the alcove, moving to the square -H-14, and attempts to pull the creature off of Petronicus.
Not sure the appropriate sequencing for this. Thorthal wants to pull the creature off of Petronicus. Not sure if this is a counter grapple, aid another, or what. Either way it's probably a combat maneuver check, so that I will roll.
Combat Maneuver: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (16) + 3 = 19
Just in case this is still required...
Will Save, +2 vs. Spells, SLA, Poison: 1d20 ⇒ 9
DM Rambler
Morgrom's greatsword opens a tear in the creature, but it continues to attack.
The undead mass turns its attention towards Thorthal, striking down towards the dwarf.
bite: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (11) + 7 = 181d4 ⇒ 3
claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (3) + 7 = 101d4 ⇒ 4
claw: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (18) + 7 = 251d4 ⇒ 1
grab: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (17) + 7 = 241d4 ⇒ 1
Once again, the creature is extremely deadly, wounding Thorthal twice and latching onto him. 5 damage total
Thorthal (Shaken, Grappled)
Petronicus (Shaken)
Bardos
Morgrom (Shaken)
Haer Kul (delaying)
Thorthal Runecloak
Thorthal takes a moment to focus and gains Improved Grapple for 1 minute. If he succeeds at his grapple check he will attempt to reverse the grapple instead of freeing himself.
Grapple check, +2 Feat, -2 Shaken, -2 Grappled: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (14) + 3 = 17
DM Rambler
Desperate now, the undead creature lashes out at Thorthal.
bite: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (16) + 6 = 221d4 ⇒ 1
claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (9) + 6 = 151d4 ⇒ 4
claw: 1d20 + 6 ⇒ (1) + 6 = 71d4 ⇒ 4
Not counting the grapple penalties on either Thorthal or the Shredskin, which balance out. Assuming Thorthal is not using his shield, I think that is two hits. And if Thorthal's banner indicates his current hit points...
Thorthal Runecloak
Did not take a -4, so that would mean the arm is used in the grapple, making it pretty impractical to block with at that point. Though rereading the rules I'm not entirely sure I did things right in the first place, I'll post that in the discussion thread. Either way, at -1.
Thorthal falls unconscious.
Haer Kul
Haer Kul puts away his sling. He will carefully examine the alcove for traps (wards, glyphs, anything unusual), proceeding very cautiously.
Perception (find traps): 10 + 10 = 20
If he finds a trap, he will attempt to disable it:
Disable Device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (5) + 7 = 12 ... #thanksPaizo
DM Rambler
As soon as Haer Kul enters the alcove, he stops and stands stock still staring into space.
Thorthal continues to lie on the floor, bleeding.
Haer Kul
Knowledge(plains), untrained: 10 + 2 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + 2 + (4) = 16 (According to the skill description : cannot make an untrained Knowledge check with a DC higher than 10. But, better than nothing.)
Will: 1d20 + 3 ⇒ (20) + 3 = 23 Woo hoo!
Haer Kul
"Well, this is disturbing. This alcove affects your mind. It is like you are standing on another world, possibly another plane. It is most unsettling. Bardos, I do not suggest you partake of this."
Oh right, I think Haer Kul is carrying the remaining CLW potions.
Pulling a potion out of his pouch, he will hold it outside the alcove, so that someone can reach it without entering. "Would someone mind administering this to Mr. Runecloak?"
Once someone has taken the potion, he will proceed (cautiously) to the cracked black bag, search it for traps: 10 + 10 = 20,
and if any are found, attempt to remove them: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (20) + 7 = 27.
Assuming all goes well, he will bring the back bag out of the alcove, and then search it: Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (19) + 9 = 28

Bardos rushes to bind Thorthal's wounds.
"That priest I met a few days ago would never let me hear the end of it!"
Heal check: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (1) + 0 = 1
"Of course, that WAS a few days ago!" he exclaims, clearly in a little over his head in Thorthal's blood (not literally).
DM Rambler
As Bardos moves into the alcove to retrieve the potion...
Once he recovers a few seconds later, he administers to Thorthal.
Heal: 1d8 + 1 ⇒ (4) + 1 = 5
Let's say it took 3 rounds to get around to helping Thorthal. He may make some stabilizing rolls to not be at -4.
The leather bag contains 3 potion vials, a ceramic jar, a scroll, and a throwing axe. Each of them is the source of one of the auras Petronicus detected.
Thorthal Runecloak
Stabilization Roll, DC 11: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (12) + 2 = 14
Stabilization Roll, DC 12: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21
Stabilization Roll, DC 13: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Stabilized on the first round.
"Cheers fur th' healin' Bardos."
Thorthal will sit down on the steps in front of the dais and rest.
Haer Kul
"If anyone has any healing spells, I suggest we use them on Thorthal now, and anyone else who might be injured. We also have 8 potions of cure light wounds left."
"In fact, this might be a good time to go over our resources, identify anything unknown, and make sure they are appropriately allocated. In particular, the scroll of Protection from Chaos may be applicable here."
Haer Kul will Take 10 on Alchemy: 10 + 8 = 18 to identify the potions and the contents of the ceramic jar.
While he's at it:
appraise on momma's necklace: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (14) + 2 = 16
appraise on onyx statuette: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (19) + 2 = 21

"We need to be prepared. Remember what Silam said?"
"... I took the people downstairs where he told me. I saw the hall and the wet room and the tomb. I took people to the tomb. The Master had the tree man outside the house, and the blob by the stairs, and the more blobs in the hall, and Gestak in the wet room. I think the Master lives behind the glow." (link)
"We have still to encounter the hall and the wet room before we meet this 'Master'."
