Male Elder GM

The fire seems to have stalled the troll's regeneration.

The beast lashes out at the source of its fear.

Haer Kul is savagely bitten again. 18 damage so far, I believe

HP updated.

On Haer Kul's turn:
Haer Kul grins when he sees the Tree Man's reaction to his fire. And then grimaces when it hits him again. He will fight defensively for his next attack (still from F7 so still flanking with Morgrom).

melee touch attack w/ inspiration (costs 2 uses): 1d20 + 1 + 2 - 4 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 1 + 2 - 4 + (5) = 17, damage(fire): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4. (AC 17 until next turn.

Male Half-Orc Warpriest Lvl:3 HP: 30 AC: 17/10/17 F: 7 R: 4 W: 8 Init: 1 Percep: 2

On Morgrom's Turn:
Morgrom takes a 5' step to C6 and attacks if there was an doubt.
Attack: 1d20 + 5 ⇒ (14) + 5 = 192d6 + 4 ⇒ (5, 4) + 4 = 13

Male Elder GM

Petronicus dithers about what to do, and Morgrom chops mightily into the Tree Man again. The beast falls to the ground and Haer Kul strikes it with his flaming hand.

Out of initiative.

Male Half-Orc Warpriest Lvl:3 HP: 30 AC: 17/10/17 F: 7 R: 4 W: 8 Init: 1 Percep: 2

Morgrom will heal Higher Kool.

Human Male Wizard Lvl:3 HP:19/19 AC:11/11/10 F:+2 R:+2 W:+4 Init:+1 Perception:+10

Petronicus also applies a infernal healing to Haer Kul. 10 hp back after 10 rounds.

Male Elder GM

Haer Kul feels sullied by at least one of those spells.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Neil:
Given that the tree man fell before Haer Kul's turn, Haer Kul would not have used inspiration or fought defensively for his attack. I'd like to change his action accordingly?

Haer Kul wrinkles his nose, but says to Petronicus and Morgrom "My gratitude to you both for the healing. That thing, it did not like me much, no? I wonder why." He grins, and extinguishes his flame.

He surveys the room. The door on the south looks like the main entrance.

Haer Kul will finish searching the fireplace Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (12) + 9 = 21 and then suggest the northernmost door on the west. He will listen at the door before the party tries it. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22

Male Elder GM

Haer Kul notices that the troll's wounds are once again closing.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Damn. Why did I end the spell?
"Is anyone carrying oil? or Alchemist's fire? I have a tindertwig. We should burn this thing completely and scatter the ashes."

Are there any other sources of fire in the room? Is there kindling in the fireplace? I'd like to burn this troll without spending a spell to recharge Haer Kul's innate magic..

[While we're looking, perhaps Morgrom can continue to hack the troll to bits, to slow down its recovery..[/ooc]

If there are no other sources of fire, then Haer Kul will burn a recharge innate magic and spend 3 minutes burning the troll carcass.

Male Dwarf Brawler Lvl: 3 HP:28/28 AC: 17(16)/12/15(14) +Ring? F: +5 R: +5 W: +3 Init: +2 Perception: +8 Darkvision MF: 3/4

Thorthal will stomp on the troll after Haer Kul reveals it isn't dead yet.

Coup de grâce, Unarmed Strike: 2d6 + 6 ⇒ (4, 4) + 6 = 14

"A hate trolls. Someain start a fire, A'll keep stompin' oan it. A hae some flint an' steel if someain can fin' some kindlin'."

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Haer Kul will search the room and just outside the entrance for kindling. If anyone has a torch, we could use that to burn the troll.

Male Elder GM

Through perseverance, the group is able to keep the troll unconscious and burn it until it stops healing.

Haer Kul doesn't find anything interesting in the fireplace, nor does he hear anything behind the northern door.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Haer Kul will listen at the southern door Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16

Going back to the northern door, he will check it for traps: perception: 10 + 10 = 20

If trapped disable device: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (14) + 7 = 21

If clear, will open the door, but will let Morgrom through first.

If locked: disable device to unlock: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (15) + 7 = 22.

Male Elder GM

Haer Kul hears nothing beyond the south door.

The north door leads to a room containing the remains of three skeletons dressed in rotting leather armour. The room is dusty, but otherwise bare.

Sorry, was waiting to see if Morgrom resisted being tossed into the room by Haer Kul, then got bogged down with work.

Male Half-Orc Warpriest Lvl:3 HP: 30 AC: 17/10/17 F: 7 R: 4 W: 8 Init: 1 Percep: 2

Hehe, totally missed that!

Morgrom enters slowly, sword at the ready, wary of the skeletons as he has seen this trick before.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Half-orc tossing. Harder than dwarf-tossing, but in this case, more effective against undead...
Haer Kul takes a close (yet distant) look at the skeletons as well, from behind Morgrom. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (15) + 9 = 24

1 person marked this as a favorite.
Male Elder GM

In an instant, the shattered skeletons do not stand up while bursting into flame!

Haer Kul can see that one of the skeletons clutches a well-made dagger in its hand, while its skull rests on a mouldering leather satchel.

Medium Lvl:3 HP:24/24 AC:16/12/14 F:+2 R:+2 W:+4 Init:+5

"Is this a dagger I see before me?" says Bardos out of nowhere.

Male Half-Orc Warpriest Lvl:3 HP: 30 AC: 17/10/17 F: 7 R: 4 W: 8 Init: 1 Percep: 2

Morgrom crosses the room to the skeletons and grabs the man purse, er satchel, and tosses it to Haer Kul, the reaches down and grabs the dagger, and turns the handle to Bardos.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Haer Kul will open the satchel, check it for a trap Perception: 10 + 10 = 20, and then examine the contents Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (16) + 9 = 25.

Male Elder GM

As Morgrom tosses the satchel, coins fall out of the holes in the bottom and scatter around the room.

After recovering them and combining them with the remainder in the satchel, they total 58 gold and 13 silver. The satchel also contains a potion vial and an onyx statuette of a raven.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Using his craft(alchemy) skill, Spellcraft: 10 + 7 + 1d6 ⇒ 10 + 7 + (5) = 22 to identify the potion.

Once we are done here, we will move to the southern door, and, if Morgrom will do the honours again to open the door, Haer Kul will scan that room. Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (6) + 9 = 15.

Male Half-Orc Warpriest Lvl:3 HP: 30 AC: 17/10/17 F: 7 R: 4 W: 8 Init: 1 Percep: 2

Morgrom walks over to the door, while holding his great sword in one hand, grasps the door handle. Once he is satisfied everyone is ready, opens the door.

Male Elder GM

Haer Kul identifies the potion as invisibility.

Beyond the door is an empty room with a large fireplace in one corner and rubble scattered about. A chill breeze comes through broken windows and cracks in the walls, causing an eerie whistle.

There is another door in the north wall.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Haer Kul will move across the floor to the fireplace checking ahead of him with his sword cane. There, he will search the fireplace:
perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (17) + 9 = 26

Then he will move to the door in the north wall still probing the floor with the sword cane.

Listen at the door perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
Check for traps: perception: 10 + 10 = 20

If it is clear, he will let Morgrom open it.

Male Elder GM

Beyond the door is a room that may have once been an armory, judging from the eroded wooden rack on the northeast wall. An open door leads to an empty storage closet, while a set of stairs spirals up and down to the south of the room.

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Quietly, Haer Kul says "Silam said he took the villagers downstairs, and I suggest that we head that way as well."

Male Elder GM

The group makes their way over to the spiral stair. The way up is blocked by the collapsed upper levels, but the way down seems clear. The air is moist.

Bardos, Haer Kul, Petronicus:
There is some sort of mass clinging to the ceiling above the stairwell. It looks like a pustulent lump of yellow flesh, about a yard across.

I will update a map tomorrow. Assume you're in approximately the same formation facing the stairs.

Medium Lvl:3 HP:24/24 AC:16/12/14 F:+2 R:+2 W:+4 Init:+5

Bardos takes the dagger.

When they get to the stairwell, Bardos looks up.

"Some sort unpleasant lump on the ceiling, this might get a touch messy."

Male Gnome Investigator Lvl:3 HP:25 AC:15(16)/13/13 F:+4 R:+5 W:+3 Init:+2 Perception:+10 low-light

Haer Kul will examine the mass from a (hopefully) safe distance.

Male Elder GM

Petronicus:
Petronicus believes that this creature is similar to a Boilborn. Those oozes are typically spawned in piles of diseased bodies. As oozes, they are immune to mind-affecting magic, and have no specific weaknesses of anatomy. The typical Boilborn is also resistant to acid.
However, Boilborns are usually smaller and reddish in colour, not sickly yellow. And they do not usually emit a mist like this creature does.

Human Male Wizard Lvl:3 HP:19/19 AC:11/11/10 F:+2 R:+2 W:+4 Init:+1 Perception:+10

"Not sure I can hurt it. Fire might work."

Petronicus readies his crossbow and loads it.

The majority of the party scurries away from the creature, leaving Morgrom next to it. A portion of the blob extends towards the half-orc and smacks heavily into him.
