Haer Kul
"Mr. Hellblade, would you be so kind as to help us out with a remove disease spell? It appears that this ... mass ... has been grafted on to Silam. I think we should try to remove it."
If Morgrom can't help, then Haer Kul thinks it should be cut off. Once removed, Haer Kul believes we should take it back to Rexel and get his opinion.
Haer Kul
"Excellent, healing will definitely be required."
Haer Kul looks at Morgrom and says, "That great sword will not be terribly precise. Perhaps this is best done with a more delicate blade." Haer Kul draws a dagger, and offers it. "I am willing to do the removal though if you prefer. Unless someone with more skill at healing wishes to try."
I assume heal is the best skill to use to try not to damage Silam too much.
Haer Kul
That makes sense. I suggest Haer Kul do the cutting (are you sure this doesn't count as disabling a (biological) device?) and that Morgrom and Thorthal hold him down. (Anyone got a Hold Person spell?)
Haer Kul
Haer Kul looks at Bardos and says "Not just the knife. Perhaps you too are just right in size. If you are willing, I can show you where to cut. It is difficult for those of us with such small hands ..."
(2d3 - 2) * 2 averages out to 4. A single crit with no STR penalty on a medium-sized dagger would be 2d4, averaging to 5. I think that means that Bardos would (likely) only need to cut once. (Measure twice, cut once....) Just don't use Morgrom's dice.

Morgrom and Thorthal grip tightly to the unconscious man's neck and feet.
Petronicus pours a drop of black blood on Silam, then smears it around with his hand while chanting a few words. His previous wounds start disappearing.
As Bardos begins slicing away at the growth on the woodsman's back, Silam bellows and begins thrashing about. Bardos is able to cut the majority of the growth free, but he is forced to tug vigorously to free it, because several tendrils snake their way into Silam's body, especially the spine.
surgery: 2d4 + 4 ⇒ (4, 4) + 4 = 12
The mass comes free, and Silam gasps then slips back into unconsciousness.
Bardos Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (12) + 7 = 19 Includes circumstance bonus.
Petronicus Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (7) + 9 = 16
Haer Kul Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (14) + 9 = 23
Morgrom Perception: 1d20 + 2 ⇒ (3) + 2 = 5
Thorthal Perception: 1d20 + 7 ⇒ (16) + 7 = 23
Could I please get Fort saves from Petronicus, Morgrom, and Bardos?
Haer Kul
"Silam is free, but this thing, I think it is a creature of some kind. And it is dangerous. We must not let it reattach. Bardos, get it away from Silam. This is an opportunity for your sword, Mr. Hellblade "
Haer Kul drinks an extract to recharge his innate magic and calls upon all his knowledge to try to determine if he has ever heard or read of anything like this.
knowledge (arcana): 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (4) + 6 + (3) = 13
knowledge (history ): 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (5) + 6 + (6) = 17

Haer Kul gestures, and a flame springs into his hand. "On second thought, maybe we should kill it! Kill it with fire!"
Melee touch attack: 1d20 + 0 ⇒ (5) + 0 = 5 Damage(fire): 1d6 + 3 ⇒ (1) + 3 = 4 sigh....
Haer Kul
Diplomacy+inspiration: 1d20 + 3 + 1d6 ⇒ (13) + 3 + (5) = 21
Sense Motive: 1d20 + 8 ⇒ (2) + 8 = 10 (looking for evasion or dishonesty)
Perception: 1d20 + 9 ⇒ (13) + 9 = 22
"I know Silam. That thing on your back was affecting your mind. It made you do bad things that you didn't want to do. You weren't the only one. A lot of people in the village were not behaving like themselves, too. It's okay, Silam. No one blames you. You need us to tell us what bad things were done, so we can start making things better."
"And we'll try to get you help for the damage that thing did to your back."
As Silam tells us stuff, Haer Kul will attempt to use his knowledge to fill in the gaps.
Knowledge(arcana): 1d20 + 6 + 1d6 ⇒ (10) + 6 + (4) = 20

Silam looks suspiciously at the little man who threatened his momma before, but slows his sobs.
Wiping his nose on his sleeve, he launches into his explanation.
"It was the Master made me do it. It spoke in my head. The goo. Then it made me sick and I had to go to the town and wear the harness. Then I got the people for it like it said in my head and take them back to it in the old house. And sometimes it made me say messages. And then sometimes the people go back to town."
Haer Kul
"No, Silam, you can stay here. He means the thing that was on your back. All we want is information, yes?
"And I'm sorry about threatening your mama. I only said that because I hoped it would stop the fight before anyone got hurt. I would not really hurt your mama.
"We are going to try to make sure that the master never bothers you again."
Questions that Haer Kul will ask as he questions Silam:
"Mr. Hellblade has a good question. Who helped you do the things the master made you do?"
"What do these chalk drawings mean? Who drew them?"
"Is the master at the old house?"
"What messages did he make you say?"
"Who gave you the harness to wear? Do you know anyone else who is wearing a harness like that?"
"Do you remember who the people were who went back to town?"
"Are there people from the town at the old house now?"
"How do we get to the old house?"
DM Rambler
"There was the people at the church, and the people at the wood place. I made the pictures. I draw good. It's the Master, and the old house. I like drawing animals and birds better. He's at the old house, over there."
Silam points East, in the opposite direction from town.
"I said what he said. More people went to the house, but didn't come back. Master made me fight the sheriff and take her there."
"My head hurts."
Haer Kul
"Silam, it's okay. We will make sure Onessa knows that it's not your fault. But it's really good that she was alive when you last saw her. We thought she might be dead."
"Would you mind if we stayed in your house tonight? It's too late to travel anywhere else tonight, and we will want to be fully rested before we rescue the sheriff."
Haer Kul
"Silam, when people come to the house, is it mostly at night-time or during the day?"
"We don't want you going to the master's house any more. It's bad for you."
I would suggest the spider room if we're pretty sure they won't come back. That room was locked and unused for the longest time, so we have a visitor who has been to the house before they won't expect anyone to be there.
And we should heal up as much as possible. Then let's do a watch order. I'll suggest Haer Kul, Morgrom, Thorthal, Bardos, Petronicus.
DM Rambler
"It's special cuz it has a bird on it. Like the wrecked house. I took the people downstairs where he told me. I saw the hall and the wet room and the tomb. I took people to the tomb. The Master had the tree man outside the house, and the blob by the stairs, and the more blobs in the hall, and Gestak in the wet room. I think the Master lives behind the glow."
Bardos
Slowly, it starts to dawn on Bardos what he has done.
"It was like gutting a fish, and extremely nasty fish! I wasn't talking about you Mr. Silam, was talking about that thing that was inside you. So unpleasant, I'll take the spirit world over these meat prisons of ours and day."
Clearly trying to distract Silam.
